This was my first time in a store like this. I never heard of a place where you can go to shop and refill different things for your home as well as toiletries which eliminates waste. On top of having a place to refill things like soaps, laundry detergent, deodorant, and so forth, the way that it's displayed and presented is amazing. What's even cooler is that you can bring your own containers to refill what you need and if you are running low, the store has mason jars that different shoppers donate. what's also amazing is that they have kombucha on tap, and they have a wide array of loose leaf tea for you to take home. I really enjoyed being here and I look forward to coming back when we need a refill.

Refill weigh station, you weigh your empty container before you fill it

How great to have a refill store in Roseville! It's on Vernon Street and while street parking can be difficult, they do have a small parking lot on Taylor Street (the store is on the corner of Vernon and Taylor). This spot is very welcoming and has a ton of different goods you can refill. They have a recycle station where you can recycle keys, batteries and corks. They also sell plants and have a very cute small selection of antiques. You can bring your own containers to refill, they also have containers and jars you can buy too. You weigh the empty container, you refill the container and when you pay the staff weigh the container again. The price per ounce is written on all the refillable containers. They have all kinds of goods - body wash, lotion, shampoo/conditioner and shampoo/conditioner bars, dish soap, laundry detergent, vinegar, dog treats, dog shampoo, lentils, pasta, rice, baking soda/powder, so many things. They even have a shopping list you can print so you know exactly what you want when you go in. There's tons of other sustainable products that aren't refills, toothpaste tabs, beeswax food savers. It's a beautiful store and there's a ton of ways to be sustainable. I know I can feel overwhelmed sometimes that I'm not doing enough to lessen the waste I create but the most important part is you do what you can when you can, and Village General Store & Refillery is a great store to get you started.

I understand they use the beads because they are easier but they man, never getting beaded ones ever again. Tinsel is cheap anyways so it's not that much of a loss, but was really hoping they would last more than 2 days. If you want to get tinsel go to a real salon that does not use beads, and tyes them on instead!

I called ahead to confirm they accept Happy Returns and was told yes. When I arrived, this girl immediately lied to my face and said their system was down. Luckily, another coworker stepped in and corrected her, confirming the system was working fine. The entire time, she had a massive attitude. Even though the clothing items were sitting right in front of her and clearly matched her screen, she kept condescendingly nagging me, asking "which one is it" instead of just doing her job and clicking them. Because she kept interrupting me, I got distracted and had to restart the next return on my phone. While I took literally one minute to pull up the next QR code, she had the nerve to just walk away and start helping other people in line. To make it even crazier, she came back over to the counter SMIRKING about it, completely acting like a mean girl on purpose. When the nice employee came over to finish my transaction without any issues, the first girl made a snarky, condescending comment out loud about how I had "A LOT more" returns. Incredibly unprofessional, petty, and toxic behavior. She clearly hates her job and shouldn't be working in customer service. Management needs to address this because the rest of the staff is way too nice to have their location ruined by someone this bitter.

I had originally stopped by Macy's, but didn't feel like walking all the way to Sephora. Then I remembered I had "find a healthy, non-toxic lipstick" on my shopping list--and that's when I discovered this gem of a store. Abby greeted me warmly and was incredibly knowledgeable. When I asked about clean, non-toxic cosmetics, she introduced me to Jane Iredale. I was honestly surprised--I had used Jane Iredale years ago, but stopped because the colors didn't show up well. But Abby showed me how much the line has improved--the pigments are richer, the variety is better, and there are more beautiful options than before. She helped me find the perfect foundation shade, walked me through lip liners, moisturizing lip colors, and helped me choose a gorgeous eye shadow palette. Her care and attention made it such a fun and uplifting shopping experience. I highly recommend visiting Planet Cosmetics at the Galleria--and definitely ask for Abby if you want thoughtful, expert help!
