This was my first time in a store like this. I never heard of a place where you can go to shop and refill different things for your home as well as toiletries which eliminates waste. On top of having a place to refill things like soaps, laundry detergent, deodorant, and so forth, the way that it's displayed and presented is amazing. What's even cooler is that you can bring your own containers to refill what you need and if you are running low, the store has mason jars that different shoppers donate. what's also amazing is that they have kombucha on tap, and they have a wide array of loose leaf tea for you to take home. Love this place! The owner knows everything about everything! The store is so small but mighty, and has everything you might need, from concentrated laundry detergent/ cleaning supplies to (solid/liquid) shampoo as well as snacks and leather goods! How great to have a refill store in Roseville! It's on Vernon Street and while street parking can be difficult, they do have a small parking lot on Taylor Street (the store is on the corner of Vernon and Taylor). This spot is very welcoming and has a ton of different goods you can refill. They have a recycle station where you can recycle keys, batteries and corks. They also sell plants and have a very cute small selection of antiques. You can bring your own containers to refill, they also have containers and jars you can buy too. You weigh the empty container, you refill the container and when you pay the staff weigh the container again. The price per ounce is written on all the refillable containers. They have all kinds of goods - body wash, lotion, shampoo/conditioner and shampoo/conditioner bars, dish soap, laundry detergent, vinegar, dog treats, dog shampoo, lentils, pasta, rice, baking soda/powder, so many things. They even have a shopping list you can print so you know exactly what you want when you go in. There's tons of other sustainable products that aren't refills, toothpaste tabs, beeswax food savers. It's a beautiful store and there's a ton of ways to be sustainable. I know I can feel overwhelmed sometimes that I'm not doing enough to lessen the waste I create but the most important part is you do what you can when you can, and Village General Store & Refillery is a great store to get you started. read more

It's a lovely little store and has pretty much all plastic free and sustainable essentials you could want, and a few more treasures. They also offer some other services and events that people can benefit from. They have a great refill selection for body care/hygiene, food products, and household goods. If you're not familiar with the concept of plastic-free/low waste living, I encourage you to take a look at the store and just become aware of what little changes you can make to your life. There's so much to look at so I highly recommend looking online at the shopping list so you can get an idea of what you want to look for when you go in. I try something new each time I go there. You can bring your own or buy containers there. There are also small brown paper bags. I have definitely started saving all our containers and empty bottles since I started shopping here to be more sustainable. The dried mango is delicious! I get lost in this place! Colleen is great at introducing folks to the refillery concepts and procedures. She introduced me to the bar shampoos and I absolutely love them! They travel so easily with no mess at all, and smell amazing! The cleaners are my favorite for refill, with the daily granite cleaner being a strong winner and the thyme floor cleaner coming in a close second. I love this store for so many reasons! First of all, it's adorable. The owner has created a beautiful aesthetic with vintage furniture and fixtures. But it's also fun to walk around and discover new refill options as well as locally sourced gifts. I usually end up with a candle and a plant on top of my regular purchase.
