I took my granddaughter to start her back to school collection, and was assisted by Mimi up in juniors, who helped us gather quite a few items for her to try on. I love the attention Mimi took to go around to gather items for my granddaughter to try on. She did not have to leave the dressing at all, and I was able to sit right outside her door to give my unwanted opinion. Fale was also a big help with bringing out several choices of shoes and helped me select a pair for the best comfort. My next stop was the skin care items and a few gift sets from beauty, with some cool l gift with purchases as well. Being a valued customer, I was also gifted a nice travel bag, with a coupon for a drink, a lunch, and a $15 coupon for a future purchase in Beauty. This is a great place to be when you want a little attention.

The cashier desk in the men's section is completely incompetent. One cashier took 12 minutes to ring up four shirts. The other cashier, who was new and kept mis-entering items to the purchase while having a high maintenance customer who was asking for help while ringing ....stupid questions like should I do a pocket square with this? There were two other Nordstrom staff looking up stuff on their phones but no one to help a customer. I get to the register, ask for the big & tall section for suits, and Nordstrom doesn't have one. So I waited, waited, and waited just to find they didn't even have what was needed. Nordstrom should staff up for big sales and get efficient cashiers in the men's section. I got a lovely Michael Kors suit at Macy's in a 44 Long and they have a much bigger suit section. Also, their Black Friday in July sale was worth it so Nordstrom's loss is Macy's gain. Take note!

She also helped me realize that I already had quite a bit of what I need but then she went and bought me some items to fill it out. This is what blew my mind: Elena was able to so efficiently get such good deals on quite a number of clothing items that all fit perfectly... that the cost of her time and the clothes together would have been incredibly low if it was just the price of the clothes. I can't even imagine how many hours / days it would take me just to find that many items of clothing that all either a) fit that well OR b) were all great deals I grabbed. I requested a larger size, and the fitting room employee came over and asked if I wanted to be measured. I declined and simply asked for the sizes I requested so I could try them on. She then looked at me and said, "Well, that's definitely not going to fit you," implying that the size I was asking for was way too big. She continued trying to convince me to try on the size I had already tried, even after I explained that it was uncomfortable and that I wanted to try the sizes I requested. I ended up trying on and purchasing the exact size she told me was "definitely not going to fit." It actually fit me and was the size that worked for me. That made the interaction even more frustrating because there was no reason for me to be made to feel uncomfortable or judged for asking for a different size. Employees need to work on their delivery and make sure they aren't making assumptions about customers' sizing. If a customer asks to try on a different size, there is no need to shame them or tell them it won't fit without even letting them try it. I felt completely disrespected and uncomfortable during the interaction. Definitely not the customer service experience I expected, and I won't be shopping here anytime soon.

I don't want to think that I was ignored because I was the only person of color in the store, but I can't figure out any other reason why I wasn't shown the same courtesy. Meaghan helped scan my mother in law's skin for helping her finding a suitable foundation. The color match and compatibility with her skin texture was excellent.
