This is a mixed review. Yesterday I went to the store to pick up some items after running errands. I'm not certain who had the bright idea to put the Dasani water cases by the front entrance and without a price sign anywhere to be found. Of course the people coming in after me had to come to a dead stop so I could move my cart while trying to load up on water. So I stopped at 3 cases so as to not be in yet some other shoppers way. Later that same trip, I was at the self checkout when MAY, a Safeway employee, who clearly has eagle eyes and is very kind, told me about the buy 2 get 2 free deal, which THE SIGN SHOULD HAVE NOTED BY THERE WAS NO PRICE SIGN. So grateful to May, not so much the genius who put the water at the entrance creating an access problem nor the forgetfulness of the person who did not put up a price or deal sign. read more

Got into the store, realized I needed a cart, and there were no exits. Its all one way and forces you to stand in line to exit. Something as simple as turning around to grab a cart is made difficult in an attempt to guilt you to into making a purchase before you can even leave the store. I just left and went elsewhere. If they dont want want me to be able to do something as easy as grab a cart, I dont want to give them my money. read more

One of my go-to Safeway stores for buying groceries and visiting the deli for hot food and deli meats, cheese, etc. It's always clean and not too busy. The self-checkout process is smooth and efficient! read more

Safeway is easy to get to from our hotel and convenience brought us there. The price is not cheap.

Great place. The lady at the self checkout area helped me more than once. The place was almost empty because it was near closing.

While the recent refurbishment is a great improvement, the prices seem to be more expensive that Whole Foods. $5+ for honeycrisp apples ...$18 for 6. Way less at Whole Foods... I only go to Safeways if I really am in a rush. #Ripoffmarin read more

Francisco, the manager of the meat department, is next level. Every time I need anything in the meat department, I get the best service in the world. I appreciate and value such professionalism and courtesy. It's not just me, he treats everyone as if each one of us is his favorite? You just don't see this these days. He is cut from a different cloth. I hope that Safeway appreciates how awesome this guy is. I use to shop at United, I shop Safeway because the customer service is outstanding. Someone said in the reviews that everything is expired, yup. EXPIRED and I called to report it because it just wasn't right that I was finding something expired in May when I bought it in almost October. Customer service said the manager would call me back and of course they didn't. Returned it in store 10/3 at 9pm and the customer service of course did not care enough to come out of the door fully and let me know they couldn't do the return there. Everything EXPIRED!! Where is their quality control?? I bought groceries for $150, and had 3 expired items.. cheese, chicken and peppers!! I started looking closely at the date on everything.. took so much more time.. today, buying chicken and olives for my daughter's class, I went in an out in a hurry, and guess what?? Olives weren't expired but looks like air got in and they were moldy, and chicken bought TODAT had an August 19 expiration!! 7 days over due.. what an embarrassment this Safeway is!! Wow. Terrible place this the the second time they sell me a bad gift card. Avoid this place to get your gifts cards. The first time a lady was able to exchange them for me i decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and come back this time I came right back and the unhelpful man at guest service refused to refund me or exchange my card he even tried to put the code in himself and tried to tell us we put it wrong even though when he put the code in it still wouldn't take it? After all his gaslighting he kept repeating "what do you want me to do". Just watch out they will scam you with the gift cards they sell here. This was in my email , the claim that the man that was gaslighting myself and my little sister input this is how he describes a customer concern... very professional of him just shows how our interaction went Went back today 9/15 to speak the the store manger Nuant couldn't even have a conversation with us as she was too busy with payroll apparently she just told the associate what to tell us. Popped in because it was convenient. Huge surprise: BBQ pork buns in the deli are great! Service was okay--the woman in the deli was super kind and lovely (it was the people shoving in front of me to get the Friday fried chicken special) that was annoying. Picked up some fruit & veggies. About 70% was okay upon inspection at home. Still kids and adults fondling donuts, people snacking on grapes, etc. Best to ignore surroundings & wash produce extra well. read more

Here we go again do your customer service employees not know what the term customer service actually means or do they just not care. I went to pick up Dasani water raft I get them all the time 24 bottles. I go over to the front of the store to make sure the water isn't there which it's not fine so I go into the water aisle and it says Dasani water buy two get two free but there's only three on the shelf. Swell Since I have less than 15 items I go to the self check out and I asked the young man who is over seeing the self check out area what should I do since you guys only have three and if I buy two I'm supposed to get two free. He says, "let me check on that" He comes back as I'm bagging up my groceries and he says "you have to go to customer service to get this resolved" I said "OK thank you very much I appreciate your help" I finish paying push my car all the way across the store to the customer service area ring the little bell that you guys have and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait. I know someone's back there because I can hear them and yet I continue to wait. Finally a small statured lady with blondish hair moseys out of the door and says "how can I help you" I tell her I've gone through the self check out I'll your sale today says bye to Dasani 24 bottles get two free. But there's only three containers or as I call them raft of 24 bottles of Dasani water in the entire store. So I said to her "I think I need a rain check I paid for this you don't have it in stock I need to come back when it's in stock" Her reply shocked me she said... "I don't understand" What is it that you don't understand the shelf says buy two get two free there's only three in the entire store that means I am down one container or 24 bottles of water that I've paid for and that I have not received. Then she says "well you get rain checks at the cash register when you check out" Apparently customer service employees are allergic to work. They're probably allergic to customer service as well I don't know who trained these people but they're pathetic. So I repeat myself I went through the self check out I asked the young man they are what I needed to do he checked with someone else came back and said I needed to come to customer service so this is where I am, per your employees instructions. She starts to thumb through the weekly advertiser. If I wasn't disabled I would've walked straight over to the aisle ripped the tag off of the shelf and brought it back with me to show her exactly what I was talking about. But I don't wanna make her job any easier than it already is because clearly she's not doing anything to text her precious reserves of energy. I finally got a rain check with a lots of heavy sighing punctuating each stroke of her pen. I'm not a rude person but I didn't even think her she just kind of shoved the rain check back at me I grabbed my receipt the rain check and went over to the shelf to photograph the buy two get two free sign right where the Dasani water would be if you had any. was going crazy calling all the Safeways for the graduation leis. I called up and down the peninsula and kept getting a no or we only have two. I decided to call the closest one by work and StJepan answered and said that they had all the ones i wanted. i went in and found him in the florist department and he helped me along the way and gave me the box to better carry them. he was so helpful with all my questions and everything that i wanted and asked about. thank you so much Stjepan you are so helpful and wonderful read more

Safeway Terra Linda might look nicer since the remodel, but prices are through the roof....I went in to buy a large 5 lb. can of honey at $26.99, last time I bought this item a few months ago it was $24.99. This new can was dented, so brought this up to the cashier because I ought to get a discount for a dented can. The cashier called the manager and said "I thought we are not supposed to sell dented cans and can not mark them down". Thanks cashier. The manager said sorry mam we can not sell this and it goes back to the warehouse. BS. He took the dented can and I said Ill grab another one on the shelf after paying. I go there and the only other can there is also dented. If they are not supposed to sell dented cans then why are they on the shelf? The lying and deception is over the top. You lost a customer, I wont even go there for an immediate need of something in their store. read more

I kept trying to give this place a chance as I had recently moved nearby, but my experiences have been awful. The store consistently has expired food on its shelves, weeks past its best-by date. Most of the produce is covered in mold, and the prices on the shelf never match what I'm charged at the register. The cashier always blames the discrepancy on outdated labels that haven't been updated. Additionally, there are swarms of bugs and flies inside the deli and donut cases... read more

This is one of the best Safeway's here in Marin County. My only complaints are that the nice young lady in the deli can barely speak English. She did not understand I wanted a French roll for a breakfast sandwich. They were out of eggs. This is Safeway. How can they be out of eggs. I wanted it heated . My last 4 trips to this SW on las gallinas required corrections due to discounts not being applied, wrong price labels applied and discounts not showing up until the grand total is shown. IMO, either intentional misleading and/or very poor management. I intend to give the normal checkout, stand a chance and avoid the self check out for now since I lose time having the errors corrected. read more

This safeway is the safeway of choice for me. The employees are nice and if you don't go on a weekend it's not to bad of a wait.

Everything from service to prices to the Pharmacy needs huge improvement. Used to be a nice place to shop before Albertsons bought Safeway. I wish there was a better alternative near me. read more

As I was standing in a very long line at 9 PM on a Wednesday evening, I started to write a very poor review for this Safeway. Next thing, I know, not one, but two additional checkers showed up and took up all the slack in the line. I shop at this store regularly and it's pretty well stocked and pretty well staffed. Who would expect a huge rush at the store at 9 PM. The staff was out, stocking the shelves, but they rose to the occasion and made sure the line took priority. Love it. read more

Went in to buy batteries at 10 pm. Batteries are now locked up in a little cabinet. This store never has enough staff, and now I have to wait for 10 minutes until someone can unlock the battery case. Then they wouldn't let me carry the batteries to the checkout counter, so I had to go check out right then - which was fine because I was already ticked off that I had to stand around the stupid battery vault for that long. I asked why it was such a pain to buy $8 worth of AA batteries, and the checker kinda snapped at me "Because it's a high theft item." So I guess instead of losing money on stolen batteries, now they can lose money on never selling the batteries they have locked up in the display case. I'm running out of reasons to go to this store. read more

Now I sorta love wings especially the buffalo kind but they were clean out and what's left was I think are bbq wings that were dried out from the warmer, it almost became part of the pan. I know I came here kinda late to pick up some groceries but to see the wingies in such a sad state, I felt bad for them cause they won't find a home in someone's tummy. Love the pharmacy at this Safeway, staff is super helpful. One of the Pharmacists in particular, Greg, has been a HUGE help in ensuring I got all the vaccines I needed for a trip I took to Africa. He took the time to sit down and give me a ton of advice to ensure I stay healthy during my trip. I'll be going to this pharmacy from here on out, staff is very friendly and helpful! read more

Shame on Safeway for not teaming up with instacarte! You cannot get a time slot on Safeway.com, so why aren't they teaming up with instacarte during a pandemic???? I paid 40.00 for a delivery today because of that. They are separately enriching themselves instead of using this financial windfall to give back to the community that has supported them. There is a special place in hell for you, Albertsons. You are the greediest pigs. You "run out" of all your club priced goods. We're not stupid. We know this isnt an accident. Horrible customer service. Called the produce department and after 2 calls and being put on hold for 30 mins finally got through. I asked if they had a large produce box and they said yes. Come to pick up. I came by, spoke to the lady and waited as she finished unloading. Came back and was told i could no longer have the box because they paid dor the box and would rather compost it then give it to me to reuse. Why didn't they tell me that before i made the trip? read more

I hate to give my favorite Safeway a poor review. The only staff in the Deli that knows what is going on are the Sushi Chefs. Yesterday I wanted to order my usual London Broil Roast Beef Sandwich on light rye. The person who made my sandwich did not seem to know what a London Broil Roast Beef Sandwich is. I requested light Rye . He said we no longer carry light rye. This is a Safeway . He could have paged someone to bring light rye from the bakery section which just across from the Deli. The sandwich maker made my sandwich with Safeway's brand of sliced sour dough. I consider this poor customer relations. I have been shopping at this Safeway since 1986. As I said I hate to give my favorite Safeway a poor review. This has to be posted. read more

Workers didn't know where anything was and constantly mislead me to parts of the store the products weren't in. They also are missing products they say they have in stock. Some employees know where things are but most don't. Line is super long with one cashier working. read more

I understand we all are getting used to the covid.... well now I see that cleaning gets neglected, crowd control is going to zero and people care less. I am annoyed by people going in the wrong direction in every isle. You don't have to speak English to see the arrow on the floor. Customer service is non existent. Cashiers are rude as can be. There are few and far between good cashiers in this store. Items not stocked. Only thing that makes this better than the downtown store is no pan handlers! The people here are worthless. read more
