I am not sure WHY there are any good reviews here! Perhaps the market is OK, but the sandwich and deli counter is BAD. I mistakenly ordered an overpriced tiny "Reuben" sandwich which was soggy and poorly prepared. The chicken quesadilla was also flavorless and really disappointing. The prices were HIGH !!!! I'm disappointed to post this, but while I consider Andy's to be a local treasure, I was shocked by the customer service provided by the morning barista, Yasha. When my girlfriend and I purchased hot food and sat at the bar, Yasha informed us in a verbally aggressive tone that we were not allowed to sit there. He stated that the bar is strictly for drinks and that tables are for food, which was quite confusing given that there are menus placed on the bar. The interaction was so unpleasant that we decided to leave feeling upset and confused. This level of service was not what I expected at Andy's, which is filled with happy, wonderful employees. I can get a hot dog and a Slurpee at 7-11 without the anger. read more

I was back in San Rafael again visiting family. I brought the gang to the marina for the trail walk. We "had" to go into Andy's Local Market. Luv this place. Some folks in my group wanted fresh coffee, sodas and juices from the cold case, pre-packaged deli items, bbq from the grill, and to use the restroom. Don't let the size of this market fool you into believing they are a one trick pony. Besides groceries they have alot to offer. The bbq stand (outside near the back parking lot), plants, gifts, groceries, fresh seafood and meat counters, sandwich and deli counter, self serve hot prepared food bar, coffee and pastries bar, bar ( in the back patio facing the marina), and individual cold case drinks... and that is not everything. They have a backyard patio area and a small indoor seating area. During the summer, live music is held out in the patio. Everyone enjoyed the food items they purchased. Great offerings, prices (normal and comparable to simple places in the area), clean, organized, and beautiful simple decor and aesthetics. Plus they have the BBQ stand out front. It is open daily 11:39am-2pm. Serving up chicken (thigh $8.95, plate $18.95), Miller hot dog $8.95 and tri tip. I have yet to try the tri tip, but the chicken and hot dog are fantastic. Mmm. And I have to give a shout out to the houseplant selection. It caught the eye of some family members, so much so they bought a couple. Beautiful, healthy plants that cost nearly 40% less than the cheapest big box store in our hometown. read more

Food is old. Bought some sort of filled dough samosa and bit into it and it was full of mold. Asked for a cup of ice from Chuck at the bar and he gave me a hard time for a drink I bought that I wanted to pour over ice. Guy had a crappy attitude. Why is someone working there who doesn't act nice to customers in a service industry. We don't need to get our food from a place with attitude and old prepared food. We cannot stay away. When visiting grandchildren here we are in and out of Andy's for coffee in the morning or ice cream at night or for fruit. Employees are great and helpful. Parking is not a problem. Location is super if you are going to walk the breakwater. If chilly and foggy, that is when to get your coffee and a pastry. We love Andy's. read more

This is not an ideal place to study/work, particularly for younger adult customers. My group and I visit regularly to purchase a sandwich and coffee while studying, yet we are the only ones asked to move or encouraged to purchase even more while we are here. At the same time, other "older" patrons working on laptops without food are not approached. If seating were limited, this would be understandable. However, even during peak lunch hours, there are typically open tables and the whole bar seating was available. The policy appears to be applied inconsistently. The food quality remains really good!! However, the service toward younger customers could be more equitable and professional. :) read more

Great local market. Lots of options, sandwiches are delicious and made to order. The chipotle chicken was yummy especially warmed. Also bought the mango cucumber salad, very refreshing and delicious. The place is pricey but the quality of merchandise is good. That's not what this is about. It's about the CS experience. My regular store has self-serve, so when I go through a check-stand I notice things. Mind you, I was a checker myself back in the day, working for both Luckys and Safeway. Anyways, the young lady talked to her friend the whole time, whom I thought was the previous customer, but I guess not. She threw my receipt away without even asking if I wanted it (maybe I did) and didn't even say thank you and goodbye. What kind of customer service is that? It's terrible, that's what it is. The steak sandwich with beef and fries was good, but the bread was a little tough for my liking. Draft beer was nice and cold, and the bar staff was friendly. The fish is unbelievably fresh--the best in the Bay Area--and now I don't have to wait for the farmers market to get it. My friend brought me here which is her favorite local market. It has everything you need including ready to eat food, various coffee's, and a bar. They have an awesome cheese selection and a full grocery store as well. The staff were incredibly friendly even joking that I don't look old enough to drink (thank you for the compliment!). Since we came here after brunch I only got a Bellini but whenever I'm back in the area I definitely want to come back and pick up some of the local foods. read more

Talk about discovering a new gem of a place! It's been a long time since I've been out in this part of the bay, and I went to meet up a friend for some catching up and wine. She suggested this place which I have never even heard of, and I'm very glad she did. I got there about 6 PM, parking was pretty easy and was inside quickly. As you walk in you notice it's a supermarket, albeit local (what's in a name?) but super nonetheless. They have a pretty expansive deli towards the back of the market, and behind the deli there is a small bar with about eight seats and a couple of tables. Once you go outside, you have a view of a beautiful marina and there's a small walkway which takes you all around the marina. The backdrop was the Richmond Bridge and we happened to be there at just the right time to see the sunset It was quite beautiful and relaxing. We had a bottle of their house red and sat outside to mostly catch up but we also talked about how cool this place was lol. The bartender was the definition of a gentleman! He let us try a few different wines before we made our choice. It does close a little bit early for my taste, 8 PM, but I feel like this is more of the type of place where you're going to want to be during the daylight hours and soak in the atmosphere, views, and ambience. Definitely worth trying out if you're in the area. read more

I do not enjoy this place the employees tend put up a front , they write down your license plate numbers when cars park in the area, they watch what you put in the garbage even when the trash from the items you purchased from their store . and then they exercise their intimate domain dictating who can be on the property area to the point of calling the police on people . I do not feel it's a safe place or a good environment. I do not believe they separate the alcohol from the public access area with children and they do not have the proper permits for their venue. The owner in my opinion, profiles people as a racist in his actions. In speaking to the public when the owner decides to lean in across the table, getting within a personal space of somebody and then dictate derogatory comments, and conduct himself as a bully just shows his immaturity and respect for humans as a whole I felt this pressure as a veteran as a senior as a disabled individual Definitely do not recommend this place. Yesterday morning my boyfriend and I decided to stop in to check out this local market. Before we even stepped foot into their doors, we could smell the mouthwatering fumes of racks of BBQ ribs cooking in their large smoker!! Walking in we noticed even more hot food and sides for sale we'll definitely have to try our next visit when we have more of an appetite! I purchased a couple large water bottles to quench our thirst, Aleve for my headache, Cinnamon Spice Almond Granola, French Almond Biscotti Granola and Cocoa Crunch Granola by Setton Farms to try. The only thing they didn't have was spicy mayo, but this is a market after all. We would definitely repurchase their Cinnamon Spice Almond Granola and French Almond Biscotti Granola, perfect topping for peach yogurt and my headache thankfully went away to continue our fun road trip! I would recommend this local market, it's located right next to a yacht club and a playground, we will definitely be back to explore more! read more

Located near Peacock Gap golf course. We've come twice now after a game of golf. So we can consider this as a 19th hole destination. Not for grocery shopping but for freshly made deli sandwiches and draft beer. You can preorder a deli sandwich and pick up. We waited until we got to Andy's. When you go over to the deli area, pull a #. Then get a tiny order slips & a pencil located on top of the deli counter. Select your bread type, deli meat, cheese if you like, and the various condiments. Each sandwich is $7.99. And they weigh it. Hint: request a toasted sandwich. The first time we didn't know toasted was an option. So our sandwich was so so. Our golfing friends suggested we come as the 19th hole again. My hubby & I gave it a thumbs down. Yesterday the two of us decided to give it a second try. We both got the house made Dutch crunch sandwich roll. I got roast beef with pepper jack cheese. Hubby got pastrami with cheddar. In caps, we wrote TOASTED on our sandwich slip. That was the biggest difference. Thumbs up!! We both ordered the Henhouse draft beer. Paid for our sandwiches and beer at the cashier stand and went outside to one of the tables. We sat looking out the Loch Lomond marina. It was a great 19th hole. So, I am remodeling a couple of units that I own up the street. Stumble across Andy's right after I bought them. I was so impressed with this local family owned business that even though my units are across the street from Whole Foods and Trader Joe's, I vowed to come here every time instead. My second visit wasn't as exceptional. They were super busy and somehow overlooked my sandwich order. I waited till I realized people who came well after me were being served. When I asked T hey looked at me as if I had made the error. I had to re-order and walked out a bit frustrated. Today I Invited my mom and sister to come down and join me for lunch at Andy's. Figured it was going to be a beautiful day on the patio it'll be good to get out in the sun. I pull number four from the red turn-style. They're on number two. Next up, Ben, calls number three and nobody answers. He then inexplicably jumps to number five and tries to start helping a different patron. I explained that I'm number for and he looks at me as if I was rude. I'm here with my 89-year-old mom and we have already filled in the sandwich forms. I hand the forms to Ben who immediately turns before I have a chance to explain we have one more order from the burrito bar. I call Ben back and ask for a cheese quesadilla. He looks in the display area and looks back at me blankly. I again ask "may I have a cheese quesadilla please". His answer: "we don't have cheese quesadillas". I point to the chicken quesadilla with cheese in the display and a point to the burrito bar to his left and asked if the gentleman at the burrito bar could make please make me a cheese quesadilla. I have an allergy to chicken and those could not eat their premade. Then walks over - talks for 10 seconds to the burrito guy and comes back and says "no, can't do that". I then ask him for an order of tuna salad. Again he looks at me blankly. I point to the pre-packaged 1/2 pint tuna salad containers and speak a little louder since I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that he could not hear me. Again I ask to please have one of the tuna salad 1/2 pints and point to them. He then begins to yell at me in front of all of the patrons including my 89-year-old mother. Tells me that "you are not the only customer here. We are very busy". Etc. etc. Ben went on until I calmly interrupted him asked "May I please have my tuna salad and my sandwiches?" My Mom walked away upset. This was not a good situation. Just trying to order some food. Needless to say, I will not be driving to Andy's to be insulted anymore. Highly recommended when stuck in a hurricane - and you know how often we get those out here. Recommend you stay clear of Ben at the deli if you go. read more

Super high quality grocery store on San Pedro in Sam Rafael on the marina so beautiful spot to hang out and eat some prepared foods. Woodfire pizza delicious (get extra sauce), deli will make you any sandwich you want just name the meats etc but if you can tip is to call it in to the friendly staff than wait and watch! Andy's Local Market is the best in Marin. This location is such a hidden gem in Marin (Loch Lomond Marina), you almost don't want anybody to know about it. It's calming and relaxing, grab a sandwich or pizza and sit outside with some vino. The view is breathtaking; staff are so friendly and helpful. They have BBQ oysters on the weekends. Our son discovered this hidden gem when he was playing Little League at Glenwood Elementary school. Now that he umpires at Glenwood and attends SRHS, we make several stops here along the way. He never turns down a whole pizza pie for dinner. We had many summer play dates and birthday parties at McNear's Beach nearby. And many trips to China Camp State Park, along with weddings and parties at Peacock Gap Golf Course. One tends to forget this side of San Rafael when living here, it's truly magical. This location is my favorite compared to Corte Madera and Sun Valley. Horrible, abysmal customer service. Never been to this place but came highly recommended so I drop in at 9am for breakfast. I observe several menus hanging above the deli with many breakfast burritos and sandwiches to choose from. Menu board stated they offer breakfast from 7-10:30. A gentleman behind to counter asked if I need help: I stated I would like a burrito offered on the menu. He pointed to a warming plate stating if I wanted a burrito it was there. I looked and there was only one kind of burrito, so I asked for a burrito offered on the menu, worker stated they are not made to order. Ugh I then asked for a sandwich offered in the menu board, worker pointed to a paper pad stating "fill it out", I stated the sandwich on the board is not listed on the paper pad (a Ruben), he turned his back mumbling something, doing nothing to accommodate.
