The store located at 2201 E Madison needs to hire different meat cutters and meat department manager. The meat cutters are TERRIBLE! They cut and package the meant cuts so that they look good on the top where you can see the product, but you really don't know what you get until you get it home! I got a USDA Choice Beef Round Tip Roast from there. I had just taken a poorly cut round roast back. In the past the bottom round roast used to be called a rump roast, and can be cooked to perfection tenderness. But it has to be cut correctly by the butcher/meat cutter! The meat department manager acts as if he doesn't understand or know what you're saying to him - he is also a meat cutter. The other meat cutter who doesn't act as if he doesn't understand tries to give excuses for the poor quality cut roast, and begins to advise on what meat to buy as well tell you to use a sharper knife! They do Not own resposibility for the poor quality in how they cut & package the meat! I don't know if this is the "Standard" for All meat cutters or not, or at all Safeway stores or all stores in general! This is NOT the kind of fat that you want in/on your meat for the flavor a certain kind or amount of fat can produce! I want to attach pictures of the roasts bottom, however this particular system will not accept the jpgs. I will paste links instead: Top of roast viewable to shopper: https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_/photo/AF1QipPrGceEuTvr93ShoTIvv7-5QrigzEXqy1SDVd4- Bottom of roast, not viewable to shopper: https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_/photo/AF1QipNOkeAhRv8OcxrLS0K3Ed7lwz1PTWqokxXtY8if

This Safeway location sold me expired food through Too Good To Go app. I threw them away. I don't recommend anyone to purchase surprise bag from this Safeway location.

A photo of the top of an ice cream freezer, with pints behind the glass, and a silver lock on the edge of the door frame

The staff are always friendly, but that's the only thing going for it. This Safeway is so hostile towards people shopping at it. They recently took shopping baskets away, and now they're locking the ice cream (which costs more than it does at PCC ) up.

Example of a car, with residents living in Safeway parking garage.. management chooses to do nothing...

Parking lot has people living in it.. junk strewn about safety and hygiene is non existent ... tried taking to management ... nothing is done. Our shopping has move to a safety and healthier experience. So a Albertsons "Business Manager" reaches out... want to talks.. no link or phone number .... A standard "contact us on our website".... Really a "bot" answer to a sincere review... no wonder the store is sinking faster than the stock...

We found a market! Holy hell... Who would think it to be so difficult to find a market in such a big city?! After struggling on YELP to locate a market (Safeway dots not show up in the search under markets), finally went from link to link to realize Safeway is the market to look for. Parking was ample! We scored a spot on top but there is underground parking for free. Again we entered the store, it was HUGE! There was a beautiful and fragrant floral department. A large produce section. Beautiful bakery. Wonderful meat department. This place is great! Prices are amazing and what I've come to expect from the Safeway brand. The staff was super friendly. We bought a bottle of vodka and as it is locked up, we waited just but a second for a guy to come grab a bottle for us and walk it to the front. He was super friendly. The whole experience was awesome and I want to send as huge kudos out to management for supporting such a terrific team! Thank you!

I originally got the one on the left...so close!

I have dove into Uwajimaya on several occasions but my last time here I scoped out the store pretty…read morethoroughly. The options at this grocery store is overwhelming but it's kind of a treat also. There is lots of merchandise that you can't get at any run of the mill grocery store. This grocery store is mainly tuned into Asian shoppers and so you get a lot of merchandise that you don't see in just any everyday place. I heard coming here you can get all kinds of different flavors of Kit Kats and indeed I did find a lot of different ones. I purchased a flavor though that I haven't tried before which made it fun. It was a dark chocolate Kit Kat. But what I unexpectedly found was different Pocky flavors also. The sweet tasting pretzel stick I have had plenty of times with chocolate and strawberry flavors but I found one with fruit (mango) chunks that was a part of the flavor. It was good! Perhaps not my favorite but I'm glad I got to try something new! In addition to that there is something similar to Pocky called Pretz. This is a more savory version of Pocky. I found a toasted sugar flavor which I never came across before and that was good too! So it definitely was a hit coming back again. In addition to the grocery store itself at this location there is a connecting bookstore and a food court. So you could definitely spend a considerable amount of time here! I enjoy the bookstore but haven't tried the food court so that will be yet another visit for another time.

My son and his best friend have been nagging me for YEARS to come here so my wife and i did…read moreyesterday. My single, nagging question is "What took me so long??" No idea. The store's far larger than I'd imagined and carries far more stuff. The produce dept. got me right away when I found GREEN lemongrass (almost impossible to find in my county), black garlic, large fresh ginger--and garlic scapes (they call it spring garlic). I was especially hoping to find garlic scapes since I just discovered them and have already found a great stir-fry recipe for them. A also bought some soy sauces along with an XO sauce that are hard to find in regular supermarkets. Yes, I already have stir-fry plans for all of them. There's far more food stuff I could've bought but the question that decided me against it was "Who else in the house will eat it other than me?" The meats pre-sliced for Korean/Japanese dishes tempted me but were pricey. Besides I own a meat slicer. The one thing I didn't find which was my sole disappoint was Shaoxing wine, a Chinese rice win. They carried the cooking version but not the drinking one. Contrast that with shelves filled with Japanese sakes. I prefer Shaoxing for stir-fry dishes and already have some at home so the disappoint wasn't too great. We rarely get to Seattle so it'll be a while until we re-visit the store. The good news is that a new Uwajimaya will open in Tacoma next year. We plan to shop there a lot more often. Definitely a store worth visiting even if you don't cook Asian dishes. they carry all kinds of cooking stuff--including woks, rice makers, and lots of gadgets. Our son's friend even bought travel chopsticks. I told him he'll be required to whip those out at our next Chinese stir-fry dinner. He better like black garlic and garlic scapes.
