I happen to like this location a lot mostly because they open pretty late and are pretty stocked at that time. I also like this location because I can shop in peace. If I could, I would give this location a ZERO-STAR rating. NO ONE has called me back after my repeated follow-up calls to the corporate and retail store customer service number on June 12, June 16, and June 18. I have been trying to get a response regarding the incredibly poor behavior of an employee in the meat section, as well as the way a lady at the customer service desk handled my refund, plus waiting at the Customer Service over 10 minutes just to be helped. This is a review only of the DriveUp & Go service here, as I've never stepped foot inside the store itself. I ordered online from here by accident, if that's even possible. You see, there's another Safeway fewer than two miles up El Camino Real from here--that Safeway might also have an El Camino Real address--that I've been to, as in I've perused its aisles before and have bought things from it. I had spent the night nearby, and I realized the night before that I wouldn't have time in the morning to shop and drive home, so I put in a quick order before hitting the hay. When I followed the GPS to the address from my order in the morning, I was annoyed because I thought it had directed me to the wrong Safeway, but GPS and my order were correct; I was the one who had ordered from the wrong place! I did the normal Safeway parking-lot two-step and prayed that they wouldn't forget anything. The person who brought out my order came out only about two minutes after I called (or checked in--I don't remember which I did on this occasion), and she was friendly. When I got home, I noticed that one of the items that they supposedly were out of had been replaced by something similar. This happens all the time, but they normally list the swap on the receipt. In this case, they hadn't charged me for the item but had given me an alternative anyway. A freebie! I was so excited after so many times that other Safeways had just forgotten stuff and charged me for it anyway. I had milk and cereal for the workweek ahead, and I was happy. read more

The worst safeway hands down. I usually pass this dump on my way to the safeway a mile down the street, further away. This store not only has the most aggravating parking lot, but also an incompetent staff. Tonight, after ringing up and bagging $150 worth of groceries. Had to move registers. Got thru another$160 of groceries and the goddamn machine froze again. Bagging and unbagging my groceries and doing it again and having to do it for the third time would have made me homicidal. The pierced manager was absolutely worthless and offered no help. My fault for saving a couple of miles and going to this garbage store. NOT RECOMMENDED p.s. Today I went to the Safeway at the location 785 E El Camino Real Sunnyvale, CA 94087 location ; and had a Very bad experience. This is how it started: I went at the customer Service for a Western Union service, and waited a long time as the guy at the cashier( Tall ~ 6'3 Caucasian with glasses) was helping previous customer who took quite a while. (Asian female) I waited about 15mn as they took all the time( they knew each other) therefore I patiently waited. After that long wait no greetings, nor a ' sorry for the wait' was addressed to me ( African- American female) I gave my ID and said I was receiving. But kept asking for sending infos.. but when I reaffirmed that I'm the receiver and gave my ID he said the name wasn't 'correct! Lol Mind you that I've been to that location previously and female employee helped. So started arguing that the name wasn't matching and couldn't process my request. So frustrated I left and ask for my infos written down back . I went to the next nearby Safeways ( 2mn away 150 E El Camino Real Sunnyvale, CA 94087 United States) Two young men(Latinos) came directly to me even before I said anything they both said ' Western Union' isn't working.. weird I quietly left. However going to the next store (639 S Bernardo Ave Sunnyvale, CA 94087 United States) ai made sure to call ( a guy picked and said WU was working fine) then went there. Here, I was again this time waited by 2(latinas) at the service desk and as soon as I arrived they both said WU isn't working and down. I responded ' I just spoke to a man ' and even show them the store phone number that shows it was theirs. But Manager the Cynthia M. Said no man is here that picked the phone as they Western Union want working.. So with this being said 3 Safeways couldn't service e today .. weird right? I suspect the first guy alerted his fellows coworkers and told the story of me refusing his services because 3 Safeways in the roll (not far from each other) not servicing WU seemed quite STRANGE..Unsure if it was some type of racism but Safeway left a sour taste in mouth.. This Safeway is one of two that I live close to, yet I prefer to shop at this store. The reason is that the Safeway Pick Up staff is always amazing and ready with my drive up order. I order groceries online and pick them up at least once a week. This not only saves me time but makes it so convenient. The team is always so helpful. The produce section in this store is very dirty. Many of the bins have dirt and dust caked into them. All the plastic bag rolls for produce were empty except for a single one. The zucchini bin had several moldy zucchinis inside. I also purchased a pack of mushrooms that was moldy in the inside the day after purchasing. For produce I would recommend walking across the street to K Market. read more

It's the closest Safeway to my house so it means a lot to me that it's a great store. What I like: *FRIENDLY: I seem to come across the friendliness folks here and also at in the Scott's Valley location. *CARTS & BASKETS: Always available, unlike the El Camino store, which will run out while using tons in the store to stock sales. *HELPFUL: When I can't find something, they help me every time, with a smile. This applies to every department I've frequented. *CLEAN: During Covid, this store constantly cleaned their carts. Not all stores did. Honestly, I don't care that stores didn't do this since places had wipes available but, choosing to do it is a sign of a store that really cares. Lucky is slightly closer, but not as easily maneuverable and over all are not as strong on the positives as this store, so I come here. POINT OF VIEW: Someone commented on outdated milk and how outrageous it was to find it and on behalf of all stores, I'm going to disagree. While any store needs to do their best to rotate product, the reality is that stores can have 15,000 to 60,000 individual products/variations (I googled it) so it's completely unrealistic to expect an occasional oversight! This is why I'd never put something in my cart with a short expiration date without first checking myself, because it's important to me. If I was in a hurry and discovered an issue later, I'd simply return it with no criticism. This would ONLY be a concern if this were a constant experience in a given store. read more

Apparently the cashiers are not trained well enough to have the basic customer service. So this afternoon, there was an Asian lady who didn't get her change back of the right amount, and the Spanish cashier (next to the self-checkout) gave her full nasty attitude and not even admitting it was her fault for not doing the basic math ( feel bad for someone with so little education like her). Encountered the worst customer service from the self checkout staff. First, way too often the self check machine charges the wrong price. After patiently waiting for the self check staff to finish with another customer, I told her the price came up was incorrect and showed her the correct one on the Safeway app. Not sure if it's the language barrier, the Spanish cashier at the self-checkout mumbled a few unrecognizable words while she tried to type on the keyboard. After failing to fix the problem, she seemed irrita and suddenly walked away from me and began to collect shopping baskets and heading the opposite direction. I was left alone at the checkout without any help. Without knowing what to do next, I asked loudly "What would you want me to do? Where are you going?" She continued walking away and ignored me. She never came back. At this time, another female employee (fair skin, thin, dark hair, black frame glasses) standing 15ft away behind row of self check stations talking loudly at me not to yell at the staff. I was shocked by such accusations and her nasty tone and attitude. She simply doesn't understand the whole story. If this Safeway continues such "customer service", I'll switch store. Abandoning your customer half way through without an explanation, plus accusing customer before knowing what happened are simply wrong. read more

I came here to buy flowers for my friend who just gave birth. After going to two other flower shops (one who had minimal flowers in stock and the other who was too busy to make me a bouquet at that moment) I "sucked it up" and went to Safeway. Right away the floral manager greeted me. She was so efficient walking me around showing me my options. None of the prearranged arrangements fit what I was looking for, so I ended up going around and pulling out a bunch of different flowers and the manager so kindly arrange them for me and a beautiful arrangement. She was also so conscientious knowledgeable and observant and noticed that there were some peppercorns in one of the bouquets I picked out and she notified me that they could cause allergies and gave me the option of including them or not. This is hands down my favorite Safeway to go to. I usually drop by for a quick lunch on my lunch break. Employees are super helpful and nice, and I'm usually in there for a short period of time and I'm out. Even when I need to pick up some ingredients, I can easily hit the check out line and I'm out within 10 minutes. I can always rely on this location if I need to take time trying to figure out what I need before heading to check out, and I won't ever have to wait too long for self check out or a cashier. read more

Wednesday 9/20/2023 @ 9AM - DISHONEST STORE MANAGER/SUPERVISOR, whatever you are!!! Yes, YOU, the tall Caucasian man with glasses who was in charge. What should've been a quick in-and-out trip of 4 items turned out to be a 40 minute ordeal. The family size bag of shredded cheese had a digital coupon tag of $5.89, and the family size pack of Oreos had a digital coupon tag of $3.49. As if it wasn't bad enough that stores have us create an account and enter our phone number to get the so-called "sale price" and now there's a digital coupon price. With the costs of inflation and a regular price of $10.99 for cheese but a digital coupon price for $5.87 I begrudgingly opened my app to scan the barcode. The app showed $7.49. What??!! Family size Oreos digital coupon was $3.49 but the app showed $4.61. WHAT??!!! I didn't have time for this annoyance. Took my items to the self-checkout. I didn't see the expected discounted price for the cheese and Oreos so a young Hispanic gal came to assist. She went to check the tags, came back and said, the price tags were wrong. I looked up and saw a Price Guarantee policy and said, what about that? You should honor the price on the tags. She said she couldn't do a price adjustment so she went to speak to, I'm assuming the store manager or supervisor. She took a while so I quickly left to take pictures of the price tags. When I returned, the tall guy with glasses asked what the problem was. I told him that I should get the advertised price. He said I couldn't because the tags are wrong. He said the price on the tags ended yesterday. I told him that wasn't right. He said, Actually the person that was supposed to change the tags didn't show up to work. I said, Well that's a staffing problem and regardless, the tags should have accurate pricing and it should be honored. I said, you are responsible for making sure the price tags are correct. He reiterated that he was NOT going to adjust the pricing for me. I pointed to the Price Guarantee sign and he said He could go change the tags then it wouldn't apply. WOW!!! I couldn't believe what I heard. I said, Go ahead, I already took pictures of the price tags. He said, Okay. I then said, GET OUT OF MY WAY!! I will pay for my groceries and call customer service to get the credit and he walked away. I couldn't believe he said he could just go change the tags. On my drive home, I called the 800 number that was on the price Guarantee board. Took about 25 minutes to file my complaint and get credited what could've been quickly and easily resolved in the store. He obviously knew the tags were inaccurate and instead of sending someone on the floor to update the tags, his LAZY behind did nothing about it and instead chose to deny me the price adjustment. I've been shopping here for the last 20 years and this is the first time EVER that I've bothered to ask for a price adjustment. I don't even bother at all with trying to get price adjustments and the day I did, this experience was just all WRONG. read more

If I could I would give this Safeway a ZERO!!! The cashiers working in the first two lanes next to self checkout and the store manager on Thursday evening at 8:30 PM were horrible humans!!! I get that the homeless population has exploded and more and more homeless are around now and days. However, everyone should be treated with decency. This did not happen for a younger looking gentlemen that came in with a Safeway gift card that was obviously given to him. Yes, the guy reeked of body oder and looked disheveled but he wasn't creating a scene and he waited his turn to buy his items. When the amount came up he gave the gift card and they swiped it like normal. However, this is where things take a turn for the ugly. The cards balance didn't cover the item so the guy asks to remove one item. The cashier could've voided the item and let him pay and go. Nope, the cashier called for a manager to void out the complete transaction and proceeded to ring the items up again and try to charge the gift card. By voiding the transaction it kills the card until the balance is loaded back on. This meant the guy was not able to get anything now. The guy didn't get upset but politely asked what can he do to get the items and this is where the cashier and manager start to talk down to him. They proceed to hand him the card and tell him to leave and that he can try the card later. As he walks off they begin to talk about him as if he is less than human. I had to ask the manager why the cashier did that as I know that is not the procedure as I was a 4th lead at Safeway back in the day. The manager said "he's homeless and wants alcohol" and shrugs it off. Yes, one of the items was a beer and the other was food. But that isn't the point and now they made him feel less than... In the end, I found the guy outside and walked him over to Marie Calendars and bought him a meal. Their ugliness was my chance to show that humanity is still alive. REALLY OPEN UNTIL 2AM. Unlike the one down the street at the old toys r us location. This one is legit

I stopped shopping here for a couple reasons. During Covid, I requested my Thanksgiving meal be delivered. It was, except for the turkey. Huh? They refused to "redeliver" it, forcing me to go to the store and make a stink. I got my turkey after much effort and finally talking to the manager. The following January, I went in and filled my cart with Superbowl stuff (frozen shrimp, chips, salsa, appetizers, etc.). While in line, the young customers were speaking with the check out clerk. It was clear they were friends. The three of them started putting down Americans and what they purchase/eat. This from looking at the Superbowl junk I don't normally buy! The checkout guy was an active part of the conversation. Seriously? That's representative of your customer service? Openly putting down your customers? That was it! I moved my business to the Safeway down at Maria (they are very nice there!). This week, I had to buy a birthday cake for a work mate and not having a lot of time, I was forced to go to this location, as it was the closest place to get a cake! I went in and spent 10 minutes hanging around the bakery department waiting for SOMEONE, ANYONE to show up because the cake I needed was in the display behind the counter. I then went to the charcuterie/olive department and even though there wasn't a customer in sight, the lady manning the department refused to page the bakery for me and instructed me to talk to the ladies at the front. So on I go to the front cashier ladies. I asked them to page and they did (quietly) as I was walking back to the stupid bakery. I than waited another five minutes for ANYONE to show up, got disgusted at how long this was taking, and grabbed a cake out of the fridge section (not the flavor that I wanted!). I called them on my way to the checkout and that guy could all of a sudden move from whatever empty department he was in and go to the bakery section! Too late, man! Where was that hustle when they paged! Oh, I forgot. There isn't any hustle at that store when it comes to helping customers! In my opinion, if the charcuterie lady had taken ANY initiative (cuz God knows she had nothing else going on), she could have paged or taken an interest and walked me to the front and made sure someone from bakery helped. Or the front ladies could have made sure this happened. There's no customer service awareness or effort at this store. I will never return. The little Safeway down the street is SO MUCH BETTER! Those people aren't so full of themselves that they won't help you. And I've never heard any of the Sh&t talk any of the customers. Hate to write negative reviews, but this location needs to step up to the plate & get with it. I stopped on my way home tonight to grab a couple things for my lunch for the rest of the week. It's 10:35 PM not too late but the self check outs are all closed & only one checker with a line about 10 deep. Why don't they have a second checker help? They have a bunch of people stocking. Every time I come to this location i am disappointed. From expired products & meat sitting on the self to the deli counter making the wrong sandwich to sketchy looking produce. I recently went to this Safeway because Sergio is now there. Sergio is such wonderful, customer service forward, friendly and concientious person. This store is much larger, and I don't know where everything is now, but so far so good. Also of note, I took my friend into this Safeway so that she could buy flowers for her Mom. There was not a premade bunch that my friend wanted, however Marisol was working in the floral department and we walked through picking flowers so she could make us a custom bunch. They turned out beautifully. I think that they look better than the last flowers I got from a Florist. She eagerly helped us, with a great attitude and you can tell that she is both very talented with flowers and she enjoys it. If you want great customer service and great flowers, visit this Safeway and have Marisol make you an arrangement and Sergio check out your groceries. You will not be disappointed. I had shopped at the store on Bernardo since it's opening, but now that Sergio is gone, that store is a mess. The manager never leaves his office, his friend who replaced Sergio is rude and treats the other employees poorly including yelling at them in front of customers. This safety is Hella bad and Hella racist. I shop there once every two weeks to buy groceries formula and sometimes alcohol. I went to the Starbuck inside the Safeway today 12/27/2022 at 8:00Am .  Address : 785 E El Camino Real, Sunnyvale, CA 94087 I got in line and waited to see the cashier. At this time there was only 1 girl working at the station and behind me was 2 women. They looked like customers. She wore a sweater and short pants and carried a bumbag.  It's finally my turn and said to the cashier that I was there last night but there was no starbucks employee working. I asked the safeway employee if I can purchase 2 tumblers at full price and return it the following day to get the holiday discount, which is 30%off and couple stars, to redeem a free cup.  The safeway employee told me she had an idea: which is to put the tumblers underneath the shelf, inside the bottom cabinet and to return tomorrow and tell the starbucks employee that it was saved for me. Well, I came back the next day and told the starbucks employee what I was doing, which was grab the cups from the cabinet and she said ok. Anyways, I don't think she understood what I was doing, even after I told her and she said yes. She ran after me to take the tumblers like I was doing something shady. The woman dressed like a civilian behind me came up to me and told me what I was doing was wrong because the cabinet is for starbucks business only. Only employees can access it. I told her it wasn't my idea it was a safeway employee that told me to put it there and to grab it when starbucks was open.  The woman refused to listen to any reason and accused me of doing something very shady. And all for 2 cups. She then told the cashier to call the starbucks store manager because she didn't believe me. She wanted to confirm it wasn't reserved for anyone else. After the call the cashier told me to come back tomorrow and see a manager. That would mean I would have to return to this place for 3 days in a row for 2 cups. Such a waste of my time and energy. The woman or safeway manager finally accepted to sell it to me but only after treating me like a criminal. I told her. The way you're talking to me , letting me wait and call the starbuck store manager to confirm 2 tumblers was a mess . You treat me like im stealing or a thief in your store. I'm not stupid to do this right in the front of your guys eyes and also the idea was not my mine. If I want to hide , I hide somewhere else in the Safeway, not in the starbuck area , and then get yelled at like this.  The woman told me with a strong voice. " You think what you think. I'm the Safeway store manager and I have a right and power to tell the cashier to stop selling you the 2 tumblers" I was getting so tired on my 1st day of myperiod . I have to try to come back early in the morning , in the raining day so cold ,windy. To receive the demeaning talk from the starbucks employee and safeway employee. I'm a customer , I didn't beg them to give me anything for free, but they treat me like trash. I can purchase the full amount , come back and return and buy again to get the good deal like how they do it at Target . I didn't do it , because I was naive, and first time purchasing and thinking about returning to Safeway , and I listened to the advice from a safeway employee who I met the night of 12/26.  They drag me down so much. I can't forget what they did to me , treating me in front of other customers like that. Like a thief.. We are human , and just celebrated a holiday with family and friends on Christmas . Also This week is a holiday week , the month at the end of the year . I thought everyone would be happy . I have not received customer service this bad in an extremely long time!!! I went into this Safeway on New Year's Eve around 5 pm. I needed to pick up a couple of things for a BBQ. Started shopping with my family and when we came to the Starbuck's I decided I wanted one. There was only one customer in line so I didn't think it would be that long. Here starts the chain reaction of events that is going to make me escalate this to Starbuck's and Safeway management... When I got in line at the Starbuck's with one customer I noticed that the Barista, Gio Perez, was not taking a drink order, but in fact, ringing up this lady's order. Understanding that the lines were very long, I shrugged it off. She had about 20 items in her cart and he was doing it quickly. When it came time to pay there were card issues causing her to re-run her card several times. I was waiting for about 10 minutes... at this point... The ENTIRE time I was standing there the Barista, Gio DID NOT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE ME!!! So at this point, slightly irritated I figured I would now be helped... NOPE, Gio then preceded to turn his back to me, still not acknowledging I was standing there and make TWO blenders full of drinks. My issue is not that I had to wait, which at this point was over 15 minutes, but that he couldn't even look up and say, "I'll be with you in a few minutes" or something along those lines. After 20 minutes of waiting for him to ring this lady up, make her a ton of drinks, watch him socialize with another co-worker, I FINALLY was pissed and left the line! I met up with my family and was so pissed off that I decided I needed to say something. It is EXTREMELY rude to not acknowledge a customer! But who to complain to? I decided it is New Year's Eve and I really don't want to get this guy in trouble so I will give him the benefit of the doubt and just let him know that he should acknowledge people and it would be over. About 10 minutes had gone by and I had cooled down so I walked over to the Starbuck's at which he had no customers and had his back to the register and was doing dishes. I said, "Excuse me"... Nothing (he probably didn't hear me), so I said it a little louder, "Excuse me"... He turned around and very rudely said, "You need to wait, I will be with you in a minute!" Then he continued to do dishes... ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDIN' ME! I can understand to some degree that if he is with a customer that he may not acknowledge me, but NOW I am being ignored so he can finish dishes. I DO NOT THINK SO! This is what I get for trying to handle it at an employee level and not get him in trouble with a manager... So I marched myself over to customer service and asked for a manager. The guy working customer service paged the manager, Mario Galvez. Then checker #1, says "I don't think he's here." Customer service guy "So does that make you the manager?" Checker #1: "Yeah, I guess so, why does she need help?" I nodded yes. Checker #1: "Um, ok, well I can't right now... I will try to be there soon." I understand he had a line of about 25 people, however after the Starbuck's guy ignoring me TWICE, this was just too much. I walked away, got in line with my family and waited to check out. Someone came to the empty register next to our line and as he finished doing something with one customer I asked if he would be opening up. He sneered at me "Not right now..." That was it, we had had enough! We walked out, without buying a thing! Recap: Starbucks: 1. Gio rang up a customer at his register, which they are not supposed to do. 2. Gio did not acknowledge me while he rang the customer up - or - when he started making her drinks. 3. Gio ignored me to do dishes and was extremely rude. Safeway: 1. Checker #1 rude. 2. Manager nowhere to be found. 3. Very understaffed for the amount of business they were going to get. THE ONLY PERSON WHO HAD GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS THE GUY AT CUSTOMER SERVICE.
