I go to andronicos pretty often, and I usually have little to no problems, but recently their Apple Pay hasn't been working. It wasn't that big of a problem the first time because things happen but it started happening frequently and although I get my money back, it is really upsetting not being able to get the items I want especially because it's a problem on their end. It is a big inconvenience and this may sound greedy but I feel like there should be some kind of make up for it. I hope they fix this soon read more

I come here a lot especially after school. But they REALLY need to fix this problem with their Apple Cash. Anytime I come here I buy my stuff and leave but for a month or so and I've been trying to buy my stuff and then it says "unauthorized" but on my side it says I paid. All I'm trying to do is get a $2.00 drink and they won't let me because it "doesn't" go through. I would understand if they didn't let me have the item if it were expensive but it's only a few dollar item the least the service could do is give me some sort of help. I don't get ANY help and all they do is tell me that I can't have the item when it's a problem on their side. Please fix this. While driving home from Daly City, we decided to take a restroom break and get a drink and a snack. It's been awhile since we last shopped at Andronico's Community Market because we no longer play leagues or tournaments in the area. I usually would pick up a deli sandwich, drinks, and snacks for the tournaments. While shopping, I noticed some brands that they offered at another grocery store but not until my item were rung up by the cashier and she said, "please enter in your phone number to get your Safeway rewards." Went to buy some groceries and had a really unpleasant experience with the cashier, Tanya. She was laughing at something the entire time and acted very unprofessional. When she rang up my items, she abruptly yelled, "Where did you get this?" about one of them. I calmly told her, and she then sent three baggers outside to look, which felt excessive. I had only picked up one decorative corn, but she said there was no tag and claimed her coworker had taken the pack apart, so I'd have to buy three, which made no sense. While I was still in line, she apologized--not to me, but to her friend behind me--saying, "I'm so sorry this is taking so long," while looking directly at me, as if I was causing the delay. When I finally tried to pay, she shouted, "Your card was declined!"--before I had even finished entering my info. I explained that I hadn't had a chance to put in my card details yet. Eventually, the payment went through, but I had to remind her again that the delay was due to not being able to input my info in time. Overall, Tanya made the store look very unprofessional and unwelcoming. Her attitude and behavior were completely inappropriate for someone working in customer service. This is my go to grocery store! They have specialty items as well as regular Safeway stuff. The service for the most part is friendly and helpful. The Deli needs some work. The ready made meals, including the macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, deviled eggs, chicken skewers etc are not made on site... But the sandwiches are absolutely fabulous!! read more

I have come here for years, when it was Rancho, then changed to Andronico's then to Safeway Community Market and now back to Andronico's. So all that said, it has been confusing not only for us the customer, but I am sure for the staff there. I think going in during the early shift is a better experience. I haven't been to Andronico's in such a long time. It was very nice to come back and see that not much has changed even though this is now a Safeway Andronicos. I'm really happy to see they still have a number of unique items and they still have baked goods and specialty items they do there in the store! I was a little beside myself since they didn't have any line caught fish items, and they only had farmed items. I don't want extra mercury in my system, and I've read so many horrible things about farmed animals , personally don't want to eat farmed fish. At least when I make it at my house. Lol fishmonger gentleman at the counter was incredibly polite even though he told me he didn't speak very much English. I was able to use Google translate and talk to him and he was very understanding. I love the frozen food section, and they had a number of impossible, beyond beef and different vegetarian/meat alternative items that I haven't seen in other local grocery stores. As I walked through almost every aisle, there were at least four employees that asked me if I needed any help with anything. I was literally grazing the isles, but I ended up buying some gluten-free items and boxed Gluten-free baking items. I didn't need any flowers but when you first walk in through the bakery, there's a number of floral arrangements and it makes the store smell. Amazing! I really appreciate all the little details they have to the store! I will definitely be back! read more

Andronico's Deli at the Rancho in Los Altos is one of the best in the area. Their soups, salads and sandwiches are easy to pick up and delicious. The people who work there are very nice and helpful. They are open at 6am so it is easy to pick up a sandwich before going to the airport or work. I have used Andronico's Deli for special occasion parties, holiday dinners and solo meals. I have never been disappointed. read more

When Anronico´s tells me that problems with delivery of my order is my problem and that I need to take it up directly with *their* delivery service (with whom I have zero agency), that is total garbage. After trying to use their service unsuccessfully for one year, I finally gave up and told them off! Do NOT waste your time with Andronico´s grocery delviery service. They´re inept and don´t give a damn about customer service - in spite of their marketing non-sense. read more

While i like the convenience of this store being close to my work and church - I give this review two stars for three reasons: 1 - they say they are a 'community' market - does that mean you get to charge double on commonplace items?! I paid $8.29 for a 2 roll pkg of paper towels - almost double what I pay in other stores. 2 - I know they are a small store and 'hometown' definitely appeals to me - but why do they only keep a few checkout lanes open? And why is the process so slow? 3 - while they say they are 'community market' - they are reaping the benefits of the Safeway brand - so which is it? Are you Safeway? Or are you a local market? I don't mean to be so negative - but I have been burned by this store a few times - and today was the last straw. read more

My last review was 5 years ago. If anything, the service and attitude are even worse, especially the deli counter. The checkout desk staff is a mixed bag. The women at the deli are fairly pleasant, but the men are terrible - uninformed, slow, inattentive, sloppy, terrible attitudes. I went in a few days ago. I wanted several items, asked the person if he could write them down, so he could fill the order while I did my other shopping. He stared, then laughed at me, told me to write it. I asked if he could write it himself - after another staring contest, he did. He got virtually everything wrong. I don't mind the errors, but the attitude really sucks. I f don't know if the employees are under paid, mistreated, or the issue is something else, but it makes for a really unpleasant shopping experience. Several friends have had the same experience. With several other stores in the vicinity, including a few Safeways, Lucky, Draegers, Whole Foods and others, they need to get better - or shut down. read more

Had a great $5 sushi on a Friday. I complimented the manager on duty who stated they gave $5 on Fridays. I come back the following Friday and was informed don't have $5 sushi on that Friday. Called the following Friday to confirm the sushi specials. Spoke to lady who had to ask someone if they have $5 sushi that Friday. She came back in the phone and said they don't have $5 sushi and that they are not a Safeway. Requested to speak with a manager and she said she is the manager. I would love to be able to go to Andronico's all the time. It is the closest supermarket I have. Unfortunately, they are the most unfriendly people, except for the bakery which is also really good. I am sure the butcher hates his job and he shows it every time you ask for something. The checkers are very unfriendly, also. Why? I am sorry Safeway associated themselves with the old Andronico's. I'm a fan of this market for the sole reason they sell dragonfruit! (along with a selection of other exotic fruits) I don't come across fresh dragonfruit often and when I do, I'm fondly reminded of my travels to South East Asia and South America. I also noticed they carried a variety of unique vegan-friendly items like protein powders and protein almond milk. This isn't my default place to shop but I'll definitely be coming back to check out their selection. read more

Stay away from their deli!!!! You will get poisoned. I purchased the mac salad, chicken salad, and egg salad today. They are trying to rebrand back to Andronico's now. Andronico's is a long time community market, supposedly known for their deli food (potato salads, pastas, etc) where a lot of working employees (construction, transportation, local shops in the plaza) stop by to grab a lunch. I came here to grab several deli items for the family but only the mom got very sick. The whole family didn't eat anything different except for the deli food, which only the mom consumed. Woke up 6 hours late with horrible sharp stomach pains and food poisoning symptoms in the middle of the night. Was the food poisoning caused by the food prep? What's the process for safe handling for foods? Are they using expired items to make the deli food instead of throwing them out? Is corporate social responsibility to make sure customers don't get poisoned? Did the deli team leave it out too long to develop bacteria? Is it listeria? Should supermarkets be responsible for maintaining a quality bar? Who is to blame when a customer gets food poisoning? How long has Andronicos been taking advantage of customers to cut corners/save a buck? How many people have been sickened? read more

The flower and cake selections, as well as many others (salad dressing, dried pasta selection, snacks, etc.) always impressed me. Bought a chocolate mousse cake for my daughter's bday and it was a hit - Not too sweet and with lots of fresh fruits (Thanks, bakery chef). Agreed that there is usually a line at the cashier when I visit weekdays 3:30 to 4pm but that is somewhat expected since it's school off time. Also agreed that one of the female cashiers is not friendly (surprise that the store mgmt. has not done something about it for over 5 years b/c I have been shopping there before Safeway took over). I went there to get a birthday cake. The same birthday cake I had gotten in Washington State twice before from Safeway. I showed the Deli /baking Manager the picture of the cake I was totally disappointed in her results. The picture that I showed her had a print on all sides. I sent the picture to her. -she only put the print on the top of the cake instead of the sides. I showed her the picture again, turns out she cant see. I asked for fresh strawberries. -the strawberries were molded, that we notice 24 hours later on her birthday. She doesn't deserve to be in charge of anything or work with food. This was my daughter 16th birthday cake. It was a disaster because we had to throw her cake away. I haven't wanted to go near her because I am too angry. Being 6 feet tall woman frowning against a 4 foot tall woman is not a a scene I want to be in. Then the manager was never there, so I couldn't complain. This is supposed to be a nice place, a franchise. The woman insisted that Safeway cannot put prints on the sides. Yet I showed her the cakes I had gotten from Safeway. She is doing the store an injustice and I have literally a bad taste in my mouth about the whole ordeal that my daughter had to throw her birthday cake away. -----Unprofessional, can't complete a project as promise, unable to decipher language written or verbal or in an image, bad liar, unavailable during business hours, needs to hire a good professional cake/pastry baker---- This interaction does not deserve a star at all but in order to post you have to choose at least 1 star. read more

I am generally not a Safeway fan, but this market has been very responsive to community input and carries a good selection of organic produce, pasta, meat, frozen food, cheese and snacks. They also have good pesto and pico de gallo (fresh salsa) that they make in house. I have a few complaints about a couple of things that they only carry occasionally, but in general, I'm happy with the store. I used to shop here when it was Andronico's so I saw the changes when this large chain took over the store and at first I was not happy but as time went on, things got better. I heard that they were going to change the store back to an Andronico's. I would be glad if they did, Andronico's had better fish and more organic choices. read more

Review is specifically for Maria in the bakery section. Ordered two large cakes for a birthday party, and they were beautiful and delicious!! Maria worked with me to make a lemon whipped cream white cake with a piano theme design. Guests said they'd never tasted a lemon cake so light and not overwhelmingly sweet. Maria also made a two-tier rainbow chocolate cake for my kiddo. The piping was very neatly done and the chocolate sponge was perfect - tasted like real chocolate, not like typical grocery store cake. Happy birthday kid, happy guests, very happy parents! I will add that not all Safeway bakeries are created equal. We've had awful experiences at the other Safeway bakeries close to this location. But Maria at this location is AWESOME! read more

I came here at lunch to grab 2 items come to look at the line is soo long and the cashier and the bagger are busy conversations with 2 young teenagers instead of looking at the line and focusing on their job. I spent 30 min waiting on my sandwich and paying in the front . They all need to go back to get some experience on what customer service is, they all seem really off and need to be re-trained and act professional. read more
