Mar 2026 - NEVER AGAIN WILL I USE THIS DEALERSHIP.... 3 weeks and no one calls, or provides updates on the vehicle, unless they want money and to charge for the vehicle to sit on their property. Where to start the horrible service and billing add-ons? Had my Ram 1500 towed from Carmax on a Carmax warranty to the dealership for diagnosis on why it would not start. It was the radio frequency hub, which is covered by the warranty. The initial reason it went bad by the dealership was because of water leak. No signs of water leak, no smell of mold, no pictures to prove it was the water. Asked the dealership to contanct the warranty company and request for an investigator to come out. Dealship did not request the warrenty but wanted me to pay over $4k to get the hub replaced and fix the leak. In the end, I had to pay for the RF Hub, and then they tried to charge me for towing my truck into the bay, plus and extra charge for them to remove the seat to access the RF Hub. Chronology of Events: 1. March 28, 2025 - First Incident My vehicle was towed to your dealership due to a complete transmission malfunction. Diagnostic codes (P1DB9, U0101, U0402) were retrieved. The issue was traced to a faulty connection in the XY230A connector. I was charged $148.58 (including an unspecified discount), despite the repair reportedly falling under the powertrain warranty. No rental vehicle was provided despite multiple requests. 2. August 4, 2025 - Second Incident The Jeep was again towed in for intermittent shifting issues. A single code (U0402) was retrieved. No issues could be duplicated by your team, and the vehicle was returned without repair or charge. Again, no rental vehicle was offered. 3. August 12, 2025 - Third Incident Similar transmission issues led to the retrieval of codes P1DB9, U0101, and U0402. A faulty valve body and TCM were diagnosed and replaced under warranty. No rental vehicle was provided despite repeated requests. 4. September 16, 2025 - Fourth Incident Transmission issues recurred, with the same codes reappearing. Your team diagnosed a faulty engine and transmission wiring harness and also replaced the starter (which was damaged during the repair process). Repairs were completed under warranty, and I picked up the vehicle on October 14--after nearly a month without reliable transportation. A rental vehicle was only made available on the evening of October 8, despite multiple requests during the four-week service period. Customer Service and Repair Quality Concerns: During and after the most recent service, I experienced serious issues beyond the mechanical failure itself: Lack of Communication: Repeated requests for updates went largely unanswered, leaving me in the dark for extended periods. Delayed Rental Car Provision: A rental was only provided well into the fourth week of service, despite my multiple and timely requests. Vehicle Condition Upon Return: Upon picking up the vehicle, I noted and reported the following concerns: Fender liners improperly installed (now corrected) Power wire for aftermarket tow harness routed incorrectly (corrected personally) Damaged interior trim (pending replacement) Gouge/scuff marks on interior panels (pending assessment by a specialist) Missing exhaust clamp causing increased noise and interior odor (now resolved) Interior left dirty with visible grease and grime (cleaned personally) Additional issues since discovered: Loose upper trim on passenger side Loose/misaligned lower interior B-pillar trim Loose ground wires Worst experience of my life no respect at all for my vehicle and still no return email from the general Manager Ralph Perkins. Justin Watson failed to make sure my Jeep ground issue was correct when picking up the Jeep so when the tech came out he notice yet another thing broken and had to order new battery terminals. Rob the tech was embarrassed and has shown more concern than anyone. He actually took a moment to care how they left my vehicle. DO NOT EVER purchase a used vehicle from this place unless you love to set your money on fire. I mean that so sincerely. Purchased a 2017 Ford Escape from them not even a full 6 months ago and this past weekend, it decided to stop accelerating, began stalling, and is no longer drivable at this point. I was stuck on the side of the road and had to get it towed to a mechanic who quoted me $5,515 for an entirely new transmission. Gave these folks a call hoping they'd have the decency to help but of course they wouldn't because the warranty was only good for 3 months. I didn't purchase an extended warranty at the time of the sale because they wanted to charge thousands of extra dollars i did not have (that's on me but still absolutely ridiculous and so so scammy). Their resolution was, "We do offer payment plans for repairs." WHAT MAKES YOU THINK I WANT TO GIVE YOU ANY MORE OF MY HARD EARNED DOLLARS?!?! I spent $14,000 on a vehicle from y'all and only got 4,926 miles out of it. Such insane predatory business practices. Stay far, far, far away. read more

I had one of the worst service experiences at Safford Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram & Fiat of Winchester. I went in for a simple oil change about two months ago, and about a month later, my check engine light started turning on and off. When I called, they told me to come in after two weeks, but the light went off in the meantime. Recently, the check engine light came back on, and when I checked, the oil level was very low. I called them again, and initially, they told me to wait a week. After I explained that I couldn't drive the car without oil, especially since they were the last ones to service it -they finally agreed to have me bring it in. They said there were no leaks, topped off the oil, and sent me on my way. However, on my drive home, I noticed a strong burning smell. When I checked, oil was splattered all over the engine. I immediately took the car back. They kept it for 24 hours, and I had to call them five times just to get an update. Eventually, they told me the timing cover was cracked and tried to quote me $4,000 for repairs! I decided to get a second opinion from another certified mechanic who fixed the real issue for $1,350. The problem was simply a gasket leak caused by overfilling the oil, which this dealership did. The timing cover was perfectly fine. I've driven over 500 miles since the repair with no issues at all. So not only did they overfill my oil and cause a major mess, but they also tried to charge me thousands for their own mistake. Absolutely unacceptable and very shady business practices. On top of that, I decided to cancel my service contract because of this experience. I gave them my information and was told someone would call me but no one did. I had to call multiple times and was told each time that the request was "in queue." As soon as they realized I wasn't coming back, it felt like they stopped caring altogether. This dealership completely lacks communication, accountability, and professionalism. Please avoid this place if you value your car, your time, or your money. read more

Emma Phillips Attachments 10:15AM (41 minutes ago) to me I bought a pre-owned Subaru Crosstrek in November of last year. On the drive home, less than 10 miles down the road, the vehicle overheated and I discovered that there was no coolant in the vehicle, apparently they do not have the ability to purchase Coolant for a Subaru in their parts department. My first TWO sets of temp tags expired because the dealership was waiting for the title from the auction. Once I finally got my hard plates, I took it to get inspected in West Virginia and the inspection shop failed the tires due to plugs in the sidewall, I'm unsure how those tires could pass in Virginia and then fail just a few months later. And finally, less than 6 months into ownership, my CV axles have gone out. Do your due diligence before dealing with this company, it's quite obvious their bottom line is more important than the customer. read more

I took my truck for body shop service. They initially said 8 business days and I'm on day 19 now, and it's unlikely I'll see my truck before for another several days. They never meet their targeted delivery dates (they've missed three so far for me), and don't seem to care at all when they don't deliver. I recommend you do not go there. read more

They told my gf her car failed vehicle inspection for front brakes and rotors...they weren't brand new but new... so I brought it elsewhere obviously. Vehicle is still under warranty for oil changes, so after I dropped it off I walked down the road to my dads and was talking with him for an hour before I got a call back saying the service was complete, I walked back to find out they still needed 20 more minutes. Someone smashed my mirror the night before. I went into the service department in the morning and not only did they have a replacement mirror, they took me right away without an appointment. Very disappointed in the end result. I was assured the vehicle was inspected and serviced, documents provided to the effect as well. Several items failed on the truck on the way home from the dealership. Dealer denies responsibility and states truck is sold as is. Despite the fact a rats nest was found in the air filter, air intake was disconnected from the turbo, engine oil was dark as coal, and the change oil light came on the next day. The General Manager and Sales manager asserts they did the right thing and stated there was nothing they can do. read more

Biggest ripoff I have ever experienced in my lifetime. My Jeep wrangler was left there for a overheat problem. They did a compression check found one cylinder had 80 PSI compression and other 5 had 135 PSI. Charged me $175 to tell me the radiator was leaking then $487 for the compression test. Shop supplies $50. With other charges total bill was $718. Was told I needed to replace the engine at an estimated cost of $12,823. Drove it off the lot , took it to another repair shop. Needed a radiator and and cylinder head work. Cost me $ 3,400. I would avoid this place like the plague. read more

Yesterday I planned to change the oil myself, but as we all know we can't do it ourselves when the previous service technician goes out of control tightening the drain plug, after numerous attempts to remove it, it is now stripped, now I have to take it in to a mechanic to somehow remove it, and then install a new drain plug. the filter was also too tight. read more

They sold me a wrangler and told me it had never been in a serious accident, but I later discovered it had been and they had actually replaced the frame and several other components. (Not reported on Carfax) I drove it off the lot and heard parts of the 4wd falling from the bottom. I got it home and discovered they'd put the wrong anti freeze in it so I had to return it to be flushed. Fortunately I noticed. It had other issues, and they were always terrible to deal with. Beware of the good Google reviews. They sell a lot of cars because they are the main Jeep dealer in the area, and they convince new car buyers to leave them a good review. There's never a familiar face in the building because they cannot keep employees. Salesmen will make empty promises and then they're gone when you return to speak to them. Just beware and shop elsewhere. read more

Edit: After being contacted by Ralph a GM, we purchased the vehicle. He was very professional and straightened out the issues we were experiencing and earned our business. Happy with our car. :) My husband and I found a Jeep Cherokee we were looking to purchase. When we visited to view the vehicle, it was not available on the lot because it was put into a loaner program although it was listed online for sale as New and available on the lot. We had to wait a day to view and test drive. Again this vehicle was listed as new, it was a 2022, had over 1500 miles on it, a couple scratches inside the car and a clear mark on the side of the door. This being the case, we both still had interest in purchasing the vehicle. Cost and monthly payment were discussed. After negotiation, we still decided it was a bit higher than anticipated, and if anything would change at a later date regarding price we would make the purchase. Shortly after, we were contact by a manager(Steve) who discussed price, a goal monthly payment, stated that there was wiggle room on the price and if he needed to take it down in price- he would/could do it. No mentioned of putting money down. We were asked if we would purchase if the the payment monthly could be at our price point without money down, but trading in our current vehicle. We said yes and were told that it could be done. So we decided to move forward with the credit application. After it was submitted, we were told that we would need to put money down which was not agreed upon nor disclosed prior to the application- a definite bait and switch situation. This entire experience was highly disappointing, a waste of time ( 5 days), a negative impact on our credit and gives us the impression this location is shady/not trustworthy. read more

Literally the worst dealer that I have ever visited. Unprofessional, deceitful, and just downright a complete garbage heap of hacks. They lied to me about a new car I wanted to test drive. I drove 45 minutes for them to tell me the car wasn't there; it was in Tysons Corner. I asked if they could get the car and I was told I had to do all the paperwork like I was buying the car, etc. I hadn't even touched a live car! BUY HERE CRY HERE!! I do not recommend this place at all. We bought a brand new jeep Cherokee and asked them to adjust the hood when they did the first service since it rattles going down the road. Never happened. I adjusted the stops myself but then it doesn't align the way it should so it's somewhere in between where it needs to be. The Uconnect screen that has the radio and everything else on it will go out and when I said something about it they asked if it was out right now and I told them no that it's back on. I was told that they couldn't look at it unless it's off right then. It goes off intermittently and of course I'm not around the shop when it does. I bought a used dodge 1500 and the AC compressor goes out and I only made 2 payments. I didn't not purchase the extended warranty but they said bring it in and we will work something out. Well I get a text message saying that it's close to $1700 to fix it so I call to talk to a manager and was told someone would call me back. I just got the text again. They had a chance for a FOREVER CUSTOMER OR A NEVER CUSTOMER needless to say that I will NEVER set foot near that place again. So anybody out want to here about a nightmare getting a 2014 Ram 1500 fixed? So it appears that Dodge parts supplier do not have or cannot coordinate a new HUD/radio unit to my local dealer ship. Approximately a month ago I took my truck in to get this unit replaced. To this day I still do not have the part. Nobody from the dealership or the Dodge Corp customer service can expedite this part so here I sit, I'm totally screwed. So, it's NOT just the fact that I don't have a radio, it's the fact that the truck itself is drawing power from my battery even with the ignition turned off. I've been driving my truck multiple times a day for no other reason to make sure the battery stays charged. After a week into this nightmare, I would try to start my truck and find my battery totally dead. I've recharged it so many times now that it will no longer hold a charge. My Ram is currently sitting in the driveway watching other cars drive by. Oh by the way, did I forget to mention that it's still under warranty? I've contacted the dealership at least five times now because NOBODY at the dealership proactively calls me. I've called Dodge customer care twice without a resolution. I just called Dodge Corporate Complaints and now I'm told it will be three more days before ANYBODY can/will call me. I'm totally out of options at this point so I'm turning to social media, Better Business Bureau, Yelp,and my three U S. Congressional/Senate representatives. My day tomorrow will consist of me sitting out front of the dealership with a gigantic sign explaining my plight to any would be buyers. I'm sure the sales team will appreciate me screwing up their Saturday sales. So, long story short, NEVER expect Dodge to live up to their responsibilities in living up to their warranty. It's going to be a long weekend of writing complaints letters and social media posts. Get ready for a fight, I've been patient and now I'm pissed. read more

I had a good experience. Our vehicle broke down 300 miles away from home on New Years Eve. Had it towed to this dealership knowing the shop would not be open until Tuesday. Agustin Reyes, who took my call on Sunday in Customer Service, followed up with me several times to keep me in loop. This service department had a temporary fix completed and ready before noon at a reasonable price. I got home with my temporary power steering fix without an issue. I was in a accident and Safford was the ones to do the repair on my vehicle. I was not very happy at all with the job that they ended up doing on my Ford Fusion there was gaps in the hood where it was not lined up correctly along with other things that I found wrong it having to return back to tell them things were wrong so they ended up telling me that the car was not finalized to be picked up at that time. But, I was called and said my car was ready so I picked it up. I had to end up going back because of a huge error an employee called and said my car was ready. After I picked up my car I was absolutely mortified with the job they did it was terrible and it took eight days to do things wrong the first time instead of going back through checking it to make sure these things were done correctly. I will never go back and have my car fixed there again. read more

I brought my car to Safford Collision on a USAA claim. They are a certified USAA repair shop. The repair, from the beginning was terrible. Safford Collision hung the bumper cover wrong and had to be repaired, to the wrong paint color and had to be repainted (still doesn't match) and then the crack in my quarter panel that happened because of the multiple repairs. I brought it back to them, showed them the crack and they told me they thought it 'may happen' and it was discussed with USAA, but USAA wouldn't cover it. I went from having rear-end damage, covered by insurance of the person that hit me, to a cracked quarter panel that neither the insurance company, nor Safford Collision will fix. I wouldn't take my enemies car there to be fixed. read more

Unbelievable! I recently bought an older jeep and took to them to have it gone through and checked out. It was dripping a bit of oil and the engine light was on. After having them go over her, I was told she needed a intake gasket and valve cover gaskets ($1300.00). It seemed a bit much but I thought about it and took her back in to have the work done. Less than 20 miles, on the way home, the engine light comes back on along with 3 new lights. Of course it was late on a Saturday and they were closed by the time I got home. So I sent an email. No reply. I was contacted by text a couple days later by Brittney regarding my willingness to participant in a survey. I replied stating that I would be very interested and proceeded to explain the issues (again). She told me that the engine light was not on the diagnosis and that it was up to me to tell them what was wrong. Huh? Then why did I bring to them in the first place? What the hell did I pay $85 for? I brought her in originally to be checked out and they gave me the diagnosis! They must have noticed the engine light on as it was reset when I left. I have since had a nice long chat with them online and was promised that someone would get back to me right away. The only responses I have received are from salesmen (so I know they received my emails, but neglected to actually read them). Mark Miramontes actually did send an email stating that he would tell proper channels, but, again, have not heard from anyone but salesmen yet. You would think that if you want repeat business, you would handle everything properly the first time and not blame the customer for your service people not being on top of their game. The easy fix would of been to have me bring her back in, instead of playing the blame game and trying to cover each others asses. In the meantime, I am recovering from shoulder replacement surgery trying to get my jeep right because I do not need my ass kissed (they are quite good at that, just to get you to spend), I need my jeep right. I am really glad that I have requested all correspondence be done via email as the article I am writing will go much further into detail! I have all text messages and emails. read more

Dealership will not return calls. Had to return my vehicle purchase because they were deceitful and could not title it for 45 days. Now 2 months later we have a fully paid off van, title, registration and plated but no vehicle. Who us driving our car and where is it? The person driving the van is driving illegal and the dealership needs to straighten out the problem. Forged our names with DMV to get plates and registration. Loan company says the van is ours as well as DMV. No calls returned from dealership, bad customer service. The $520 new tires we put on the van have not been reimbursed yet despite many requests. My pet peeve is that if I bring my vehicle in for a scheduled service appointment and say I'm waiting for the vehicle, it should NOT still be sitting in the back lot an hour and a half later, not even being serviced yet. To me, a scheduled appointment time means you are addressing my vehicle at the scheduled time, not some arbitrary number of hours later, especially if I'm blowing a work day to get it serviced and waiting for it at your dealership. read more

I talked to a salesperson via email and phone, and he worked on the price with his boss and gave me a figure. When I went to pick up the used vehicle I was buying, the boss said he cannot sell it for that price. When I said I received the price quote and drove all the way to come pick up the truck. The boss replied "we can list the vehicle on accident for $2 instead of $20,000...that doesn't mean we have to sell it to you". They used deceptive practices because the price wasn't a mistake, they just didn't want to give me a good deal for it. Waste of time and very rude customer service. First, I traded my car for Jeep Wrangler it was in the evening to which I did not notice a star shaped small crack in the middle of the windshield until the next day. I took pictures and called them and brought the Jeep the following day. They made the appointment for me on the same day I was getting ceramic coating which was scheduled at 0900. I showed up at 0845 and waited and waited until close to 1100 and asked if any updates and was told the ppl that repair the windshield have not shown up yet, was told to wait. Now it's 1430 and I asked what's the update and was told they have been trying to reach them and no answer yet and that if I give them a chance they will try to reach out to them again. 5 and a half hours! And still going, horrible customer service, I don't plan on buying another car from here ever again read more

I have been to this establishment twice already to get my car worked on and the customer service in the service department is absolutely horrible. Please tell me why I have to stand there for 5 or more minutes to get acknowledged but the personal working will stop what they are doing to check their personal cell phones rather then seeing what needs to be done.It is beyond rude and unprofessional. This has happened to me twice. Not once but both visits! I have even asked for a loaner car both visits because I have a toddler... yet my first visit I was told all the loaners were out and the second visit I was told they dont give out loaners. Absolutely the worst dealership I have EVER been to. I went in with my girl friend who was interested in buying a brand new Jeep Renegade. She ended up deciding on the one in the showroom.. As she is signing her finance papers they decide to tell us that this vehicle was a demo car and has 5,000 miles on it.. That was the first straw, but whatever we buy it anyway. Then, before she even makes her first payment the tire blows out on the highway, and low and behold there is NO SPARE TIRE and they didn't think it would be a good idea to tell us that... not only is there no spare tire but there is wheel locks on the tire and NO WHEEL LOCK KEY.. so we have to get a tow 150 miles back to the dealership because we cant go to a shop to get it fixed. Now the Jeep is in on the tow truck is in the lot and Charles and the other service people are out back and they LET THE DRIVER DRAG THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE PARKING LOT with the parking break on causing more damage to all 4 tires and SIDEWALL DAMAGE they were going to LET US DRIVE AWAY ON... then they decide TO NOT TELL US THIS HAPPENED until we notice the damage and said something to them ourselves... After going back and forth for a month over why we shouldn't pay for ANYTHING due to the faulty tire and no wheel lock keys, and them not telling us about the damage they WITNESSED in their lot they (Charles) decided they aren't going to help us with the bill but will give us a rental until it is fixed... A month later we get the bill from enterprise rentacar and Safford REFUSED to pay for the rental that they set up for us! Stay away from this place like the plague... we should have known when we were getting ready to buy and somebody walked in and the first thing they said is "Where do I go to complain around here" We will be following up with the better business bureau and Chrysler as well... read more

Showed up and they had nothing in the computer about my appointment. Made another with the service manager. Came in again. Same thing. Went to Fair Oaks Dodge and got everything fixed. It seems that some people get mad when they don't get the deal that they want or think they're entitled to. Then they write a bad review just to try and make the dealerships and sales staff look bad. Don't believe what others have posted. Go and see for yourself. Safford has many stores in the metro area and those vehicles can be purchased at any location. It just may take a day or so to move a vehicle to your local store for your convenience. read more

Crooks!!!! Scheduled an appointment, since they're so "short staffed" for an intermittent whirring and or chirping noise and a possible front right strut issue. My van unfortunately died the day before (had to wait 2 weeks to get in) the appointment so it was towed in. They kept my van for 3 days changing the fuel pump and idler arm. Within 30 minutes of picking it up the noise started again. I called them back and they said, "you brought us a non running vehicle and we got it running" After countless back and forth they agreed to bring it back in in 2 more weeks. This time they put on a starter, alternator and idler pulley stating they all needed to be replaced and had it for 4 days The service manager Justin came out to show me the new "trick" to starting my van so it won't grind. I knew right then something was wrong but he wouldn't listen. It never started correctly even once after that. After calling multiple mechanics I was informed in the auto industry what they did is called "shotgunning". It's where any of those parts has the potential to be the issue but instead of diagnosing it they put them all on because one will surely fix it. I took my van to Berryville Service Center where it is being corrected. I did not need the alternator or idler arm and the starter they put in had a very visible defect and was from Mexico. Stafford's owner only agreed to refund the cost to repair their work on replacing the defective starter. Found out yesterday the idler arm they installed on the first visit is loose and will need to be fixed as well. Informed the owner who won't do anything unless I take it back to his team of incompetent crooks for the work which is obviously not going to happen. I am a widow who lives in said van. Both visits combined total over $2400, over half being labor charges. I was only refunded the cost for the starter repair at Berryville. Nobody deserves to be scammed and taken advantage of on this level and weeks before Christmas too. Absolutely despicable. Shame on you Safford. read more
