Went on a Sunday right after open and there was no line. We got a chocolate chip muffin, ham and cheese croissant, chocolate chip scone and a apple filled strudel. This lovely little bakery is like a small cafe with coffees, fresh breads, sweet rolls, pastries to linger over except the bakery items are so delicious, I can't resist eating more and more. Saving for later is overrated. The people working there appear to be family members and are charming and friendly even when the place is full with eager customers who have a hard time waiting (as I did) for the best bakery items I've had in too long ago to remember. Went in when they were in soft open and had a limited menu. Ordered a few croissants and chocolate croissants, all of them were pretty hard. I'm guessing they were from the previous day. A member of our group had an allergic reaction, I'm pretty sure some of the ingredients they're using aren't clean. A bit pricey compared to other bakeries in Aliso. Wouldn't recommend. read more

I recently visited Saffron for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! The 2 employees I interacted with were SO warm and friendly! All their pastries looked really appetizing, it was hard to choose from. I tried an almond croissant and the raspberry pistachio tart (per her recommendation). Both delicious! Saffron Bakery makes some of the flakiest, lightest, most delicious pastries in town. We stumbled upon Saffron after not wanting to wait in the long line at Starbucks next door, and were so glad we did, and have returned since! The spinach and artichoke pastry, the everything but the bagel pastry, and the ham and cheese croissant were all excellent. In addition, we tried a sample of their breakfast croissant sandwich - delicious is the only word to describe it! Definitely recommend going early in the day to have your pick of all the options. The butter croissant is perfect, as are the filled ones. I loved the guava pastry and my husband really enjoyed the cheese danish. The cookies are wonderful. Breakfast burrito was simple and delicious, we really liked the salsa on the side. On our next visit we're gonna try the dessert pastries, they look absolutely amazing. I'm always so excited when a small business opens in Aliso Viejo, and this bakery is really clean and lovely. It has totally reasonable prices for exceptional baked goods. I bought a Sugar "Cruffin" (a super light croissant shaped like a muffin), napoleon (my favorite - and it's surprisingly hard to find good ones), and chocolate chip cookie, and they were all delicious.
