This place has worked its way into our regular coffee rotation. Yes, we come for the coffee. I love the saffron & rose or the cardamom chai, half sweet. Husband gets the orange blossom coffee but I believe that's a seasonal drink. The coffee is good and the flavors are interesting. We did try the PB & J oats once and it was good. Consistency is good, a generous amount of toppings, and not overly sweet. The only reason I don't get it more often is that the portion size is way too big. We tried saving it for the next day but it kind of lost its luster. I wish I could order the other flavors in the kid size! Such a fun and unique concept! I was so excited to try this place when I heard about it. I got the strawberry and cream bowl. You can choose between cold overnight oats or warm oats. I got my oats unsweetened, but there was still plenty of flavor from the mix ins. The bowl was HUGE and fed me for two meals. I also got a salted caramel latte, which was the highlight! All three drinks were delicious and were large in size. (They specialize in putting oat milk in their drinks.) The ambiance of the shop had a very warm and comfortable feel. Not only were the tables and chairs comfortable there was also a sofa and lounge chairs. Hanging plants contributed to that at home feeling. My banana tasted old and had brown spots on it, I should have just asked for a fresh banana. I did notice a few fruit flies around the toppings bar so maybe some covers or fans to deter the bugs would be helpful. $15 for oatmeal with up to four toppings is a bit pricey when you really think about it (I can make it at home for less than a dollar). I visited Brown Sugar on a Friday evening for their first After Hours session. Parking was very easy to navigate since there are spots right in front of the building as well as two parking lots behind it & to the left of it. There weren't too many other customers when I arrived, since I came in right when After Hours started. They had a variety of options for curating your very own charcuterie board. I made a petite board for myself & paired it with their coconut lime spritz. I love that they make some of the jams they offer, such as the cinnamon apple jam, in-house. They also had a selection of wines, but I was driving & was just stopping by, which is why I opted for one of their mocktails. Brown Sugar is owned by a friend of mine from high school & it's been so great seeing the progress she's made with the shop. Beyond a friendly staff & delicious menu items, Brown Sugar is also the perfect versatile spot for getting work done or catching up with friends. In addition, they also occasionally host coffee parties with live music. One of my favorite drinks to order would be their banana nut smoothie--I appreciate that they include collagen & pieces of dates in the drink. As always, I look forward to my next visit! read more

This place is so cutely decorated - we came at end of September and everything was fall themed with cinnamon smell when entering. They have specialty bowls as well as build your own bowls with the option of warm oats or overnight oats. I ordered the lavender blueberry honey oats and my husband ordered the protein oats. They're pretty filling and the flavor was delicious! I love how unique this place is (it was my first time at an oatmeal bar). Everything was so aesthetic and it felt healthy eating a bowl of delicious oats. I got mine unsweetened (you can get your oats sweetened with brown sugar) but because of all the fruit toppings, garnished lavender, and honey it was already sweet enough. The employees are kind, but extremely inefficient. It can sometimes take over five minutes to prepare a single bowl, resulting in wait times of 15+ minutes for a party of only three people. With just three parties in line, customers can expect to wait 35+ minutes for what is essentially pre-cooked oatmeal. To the business owner: this is frustrating for customers. Service at this pace does not scale. One recommendation: consider offering a 2 or 3 topping option at a slightly lower price point than the 4 topping bowl. This would be perfect for the occasional gym bro stopping in with his girlfriend, who just wants banana and Greek yogurt, rather than paying for toppings he has no intention of using. From outside to in, the decor is light, bright and modern. It is obvious that great thought went into the planning of this space and no mark was missed. From the cool dining tables and chairs to the cute sofa with coffee table complete with chess board, to the high top seating perfect for WiFi access, the entire shop is warm and inviting. Even the Christmas decorations were super cute and thoughtfully presented. I planned to order a mocha but ended up with an oat bowl as well because I tried my daughter's gingerbread bowl and it was delicious. I decided to build my own even though the menu selection bowls sounded really good; the dozens of mix-ins and toppings looked too good to pass up. I came to get some matcha this morning with my girlfriend and I'm so glad we stopped at brown sugar oats! I got the raspberry rose matcha and my girlfriend got the blueberry lavender matcha. Both were delicious and just what I was hoping for. My raspberry rose matcha was sweet and tasted just like raspberry and rose. The service was great, and they were super friendly. The ambiance was chic and trendy, and I loved the sign that you could take a picture with your drink in front of. They even had cute little stickers at the front you could take. Went by again this am for an oatmeal bowl. Things have changed in the recent weeks. You know pay before having the bowl made. They've changed their pricing and unlimited toppings due to tariffs. The make your own bowl for $16 (already pretty pricey) only comes with 4 toppings now. It was unlimited when they opened. I understand with the in the WH things are going to change but this place now is too pricey for my liking. I think it's $18 for unlimited toppings. I won't return anytime soon. read more

The store itself is new and clean. I got the Choco-Almond crunch bowl. The warm oats were a nice touch as the dark chocolate and almond butter really got the chance to blend and melt together. Toppings were very good and added texture to the oats. This bowl was more of the sweet side, which I didn't mind. But also, there is an option to choose unsweetened oats. At first I thought it was a little pricey- $14 for a bowl of oatmeal, but after I made a custom one and chose the unlimited toppings option, it was sooo worth it! I opted for almond butter to be mixed into my oatmeal and topped it off with chia, hemp seeds, all kinds of fruit, then honey. It's actually a shareable bowl for the amount I got. You would think my coffees would come out before the bowls but I waited 20 mins for 2 hot coffees. Also the lady started my coffee when I first ordered- she pulled the espresso shots then let them sit for almost 15 mins. If I'm going to spend $20+ on 2 coffees I at least for fresh pulled shots. Decor looks like they ordered everything off amazon and the pictures are hung crooked. The young man with curly hair working the cash register and making bowls had better customer service than the middle aged women making the coffees at a glacial pace i would rate 1 star but ill add an extra star because he was working hard. Different options for oats including overnight-oats which were amazing. Then add in a mix in like cookie butter, nutella or many others, and top with like 50 different options, not to mention drizzles like honey, marshmallow and more.
