Such a wonderful experience. The food was phenomenal and the aroma alone felt so comforting. Our waitress was kind and welcoming, and we tried the coconut curry and mango curry both were delicious. I had the most incredible meal last night. My friend and I were staying at the hotel next-door and needed something to eat quick before we left for a concert downtown. We hit up the saffron bar and Grill and it did not disappoint. The service was efficient and warm. We ordered the vegetable delight sampler, butter chicken, madras chile masala with Aloo. All our food was fantastic and full of flavor. Also, the drinks we ordered were delicious. We struck up a conversation with our server, Ravindra, before we left and he offered us a free dessert because it was our first time eating there. He was so welcoming and kind for that. We left fat and happy and order an Uber to get to our concert--best part about that was, we hopped in the car and we're raving about the wonderful meal we just had and our Uber driver said oh yes I know the owner, Muhammad, he also serves food to the homeless. Saffron Grill is one of my favorite Indian Restaurants in the Northgate neighborhood of Seattle. They make the version of Mango Lassi that I like and you can't go wrong with the flavor and richness of their Butter Chicken. Order this with one of their Naan Breads and it is the perfect meal. If Butter Chicken is too American and basic for you, you should also try their Vindaloo or Madras Masala. Both of these dishes I found to be very delicious and flavorful. the first thing I appreciated here was the customization to start, the menu had many different curries - way more than what you would find at a typical indian restaurant there were 17 main indian curries, and that's not even counting the Tandoori or Vegetarian curries, or even the Mediterranean food The part that was really nice, however, was the customization Each of these 17 curries could have 3 vegetarian options - Vegetables, Tofu, or Paneer, and also another 4-5 different meat options as well I've never really seen this at an Indian restaurant - usually the main 'base' of the curry is already given and you just have to pick the type of curry based on what's provided Since our entire group was vegetarian, it was incredibly nice to have the option to pick any of these curries - so we weren't limited by a bunch of curries that already came with meat. In addition, different people in our group could add different 'bases' based on what they preferred - for example I asked for Paneer with my Rogan Josh, while others in my group asked for vegetables with their curry/biryani As far as the food itself, I thought this was also fantastic Starting with the Rogan Josh with Paneer, it's rare that the gravy is as flavorful as I saw here Normally, the Paneer will be the main focus of the curry - and here I found the paneer to be very good; it was firm and quite satisfying to bite into as it didn't get soggy from the curry like you might see in other places. It had a fullness to it However, I found the flavors of the remaining gravy to also be incredible. There was a rich, deepness to its flavor not found in other Indian restaurants where the gravy is more liquidy and just there to support the Paneer When it came to the Jalfrezi, I really liked the vegetables in here. While I didn't find the gravy to be as flavorful as the Rogan Josh, the vegetables in this were cooked really well and satisfying to eat. I did prefer the Rogan Josh over this, though It's interesting that this and the other curry were both ordered at a 'Hot' spice level - but I found this to be spicier than the other one The naan was also excellent. Several members of our group commented on how soft it was - and having my share of Indian restaurants where the naan is super hard - I found this softness to be excellent. This may have been the best texture of any naan I've had at a restaurant. The softness made it super easy to break apart and envelop the curry with I also quite liked that the curries weren't overflowing with oil - there certainly was some - but it was a reasonable amount The one downside is this place is somewhat expensive. For a curry + naan it'll end up being at least 30 dollars, and one serving of naan might not be enough. I've seen places which give you a lot more curry for a lower price, but I will say this definitely made up for it in quality Also, I thought the naan could've had more garlic on it - it didn't quite really have much flavor We also got a free gulab jamun (x4) at the end of our meal - which was surprising but excellent read more

The environment was moderately noisy since it was packed, but you could still have a normal conversation without having to raise your voice much. As soon as you walk in, you smell the curry in the air and feel the warmth the restaurant brings. The food was savory and fresh. The staff were very friendly and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed regularly. The parking is a bit tight due to their proximity to the hotel behind them, but it is not impossible. You can only enter on the Northgate Way street going West bound, so plan accordingly. Overall, great for small or large groups and individuals who want a good solo meal. Portions are just right. They do offer takeout orders as well and are fast in preparing them. We came back the following week for a pickup order and it was ready in 25 minutes. read more

The food came out fast and was absolutely delicious--top-notch service all around. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala with paneer garlic naan, and it was incredible. The flavors were rich, comforting, and perfectly spiced. We also shared the Greek salad, which was huge, fresh, and so tasty. The price point is very fair for the quality and portion size--you could easily split one of the chicken dishes between two people. Nice atmosphere. It reminds me of a hotel restaurant and service was really good. It's a nice bridge between the Nexus hotel and Northgate mall, or what used to be the mall. There are lots of business professionals that were at the restaurant ordering drinks and convening. I had the lunch special gyro and everything tasted good. Needed to catch up they take reservations but it's a good thing we didn't make them cause my friend driving had to push back our time to meet. We each selected a dish and added the plain naan. The Gyro Platter, Royal Biryani with chicken and Mango Curry with chicken. My go to is Biryani at an Indian restaurant or dal soup. But my friend had alre selected the Birayani. Mango curry was a little sweet for me I should of guessed that and ordered something else but that's a personal preference. Loved the biryani first time having it with nuts in the dish adds a great texture. Can't go wrong with the Gyro platter. 2.5 if I could but I rounded up. I'm a little confused about the high ratings of this restaurant, but I wonder if it just appeals to the masses more. I'm always suspicious and doubtful of restaurants with an expansive menu and especially one that crosses over multiple cultures. For example, this one has Indian, Middle Eastern and American cuisine on their menu. It is odd to me when you can get prime rib at a place that also serves Aloo Gobi. Food: we got the Aloo Gobi and the lamb korma, and neither was really good. The portions were OK but honestly a little small for the price. The lamb was tough and I just found it to be kind of bland. We did also get the garlic naan and that I found to be really yummy and really large. Service and ambience: the service was fast and friendly. This place was obviously very popular and very hopping on a weekend night. So I guess my opinion is pretty unpopular, but it is what it is. I have been coming here for years but I've yet to write a review so this is long overdue. The restaurant is spacious and the staff/owner are so kind. The owner and manager always made sure to greet my mother and I whenever we came in and recognized us as regulars. They would even send us a free dessert, usually baklava, at the end of our meal, which is so sweet. The delicious food and staff is what keeps this in regular rotation for me. My order stays the same pretty much every time I come in. Butter lamb masala, madras masala with prawns, dal soup, and a garlic naan. Butter lamb: rich in flavor and I love how creamy the tomato flavor is. We used to get chicken but when we started coming with my aunt we switched to lamb because she doesn't eat chicken, and I really love how nice the lamb is in this dish. It's not too gamey either which can sometimes steer people away from eating lamb. Madras masala with prawns: I love getting this dish with the butter masala because the flavor of madras is more of an acidic tomato curry rather than a rich creamy curry. I think the shrimp also is a better option in this since it's a tomato vinegar base and not creamy. The shrimp pairs really well in this dish and prawns are always cooked very nicely, not tough and the shrimp are a good size. Dal soup: super flavorful not too thin of a soup which is nice. The lentils are cooked very well not too tough or mushy Garlic naan: it's bread and garlic, what more can I say! It's great to eat with any of the curries here but I love eating it with my dal soup. read more

Came on a recommendation from a friend for really good Indian food. The exterior gives Applebees vibes and the interior gives Italian restaurant vibes but don't let it stop you. There's an extensive Indian menu and if you're not wanting that, they have some American and Mediterranean food. Tandoori chicken: four big chunks of chicken are given and it has a lot of flavor! It's just a little dry but not like that. The chutney that comes with it is delicious and pairs well with the chicken. Overall a big portion of food. Rose syrup with sprite: I didn't really pick up any rose syrup and it was just sprite to me. I'll probably pass on this next time. Garlic naan: giant portion of naan that's fluffy, slightly salty, and has fresh garlic on it. A must get! Tikka masala: on point and paired very well with naan or rice. It's pretty close to the Northgate Link station, but if you're on foot it'll probably take you about 15 minutes to walk there. If you're driving, they've got a parking lot, which is great. I've eaten dinner there in a group of 4 with family and alone when I was nearby. The service is always quick and the staff are friendly. The restaurant has great ambiance and lots of seating, so it's great for groups. It's a bit pricy so I don't go very often, but I have an overall positive opinion of the restaurant. Is the food the best? Honestly, I'm not an expert in Indian food so I can't tell you if it was truly "authentic" or "the best ever". But I've had average meh Indian food at other restaurants before, and I've tried a couple of things on Saffron's menu and each time I've come out very pleased.
