My daughter is Middle Eastern, so I was excited to see what she thought of one of my favorite local restaurants. She said everything was really tasty. She said the dolmas were probably made by hand on site, the meats were seasoned well, and the pita was warm and soft. The prices are reasonable, and I love supporting this family-owned business. I've been to Safura's several times as it's conveniently located near my wife's place of employment and we both love mediterranean food. Ambience - Kinda a cafeteria vibe to me. But tidy and orderly and functional. Service - very courteous, friendly, and attentive. Food prepared in a timely fashion. Food - modest homemade tasting food. At this juncture, we've tried just about everything on the menu. I personally find the food a little bland and think some improvements could be made in this regard. It reminds me of a home cooked meal in which you are having a large number of friends over and want to have the broadest appeal... but not really cooking for your family nucleus and going all out.. it's safe...but not really interesting win any regard...utilitarian....if that makes sense. We came here to treat a family member that we have not seen in a while. The restaurant is not run by Arabs which in itself is not necessarily bad, but in this case it was. I never ever add lemon juice or salt, I did both in this case. We tried many dishes on the menu (over $100), and nothing was authentic. The most decent thing was the lentil soup. The hummus was thin tiny spread not even enough for one. The spanakopita was disgusting. This is the first time I used this word to describe a food item. The server tried to accommodate us but wasn't very attentive. The place had no atmosphere which would have been ok if the food made up for it. read more

Food was overpriced for what we were given and the dishes didn't seem very authentic. The hummus was $7 for a tiny, shallow plate. It was a bit bitter too. I ordered the beef soulvaki which looked different than expected. There weren't many beef pieces but the veggies were good. Each entree comes with a simple salad which was fresh and tasty. We ordered takeout through the clover app for dinner tonight. We had Shwarma fries and Shwarma Gryo. The menu lists grilled peppers, onion and tomatoes. The fries had zero peppers or tomatoes on them. The meat was flavorful but the Gyro had just a couple tiny pieces of peppers and tomato. Plus way too many onions. Yummy food. My friend and I ordered two different platters thanks to previous photos from fellow Yelp'ers. It was delicious and a great amount of food. Also, we took two of each of the baklava, haystacks and rolls for home for our husbands. They seriously have the recipe down for delicious dessert. Definitely a treat and husbands were happy. I have been a diehard fan of Mediterranean food since I was younger and I like to base my judgement on the seasoning of the meat, if the dolma is delicious, and the baklava is appropriately wet and dry at the same time and this place really hit the marks! When you come in, nice staff members seat you and attend to you pretty quickly. The place is a little hole in the wall with a kind of lunch counter vibe. We had the pictured items, I picked up an extra dolmas for myself, and we ordered the calamari for an appetizer. I've been living in Lacey for over ten years and I don't know why it took me so long to try this!! If you like properly spiced food that appears to be made by a loving little Mediterranean woman who can clearly feed an army, you HAVE to try this place! The hummus and baba had no flavor. At all. The bread was good but pretty sure they don't make it. The appetizer was more like a side. The gyros had maybe 1/2 teaspoon of tzatziki sauce. And the meat was dry. Which was also bland. The lamb shawarma plate came with chopped meat. That tells you they are trying to hide something. It was dry. Very overpriced. We stopped in for lunch after visiting Mt Rainier on our way out of town. The best thing we ordered was the gyro meat topped hummus. It was tasty, but everything else was so-so. Service was excellent, I'll give them that. Very kind people. The food leaves something to be desired, especially what I ordered. The moussaka. It was a tiny tiny piece, I'm talking like probably an inch and a half by an inch and a half. I almost did a double take when the waitress set my plate in front of me. Was glad to have this place available as I drove to Portland from up north. This place offers a large amount of menu items and we ended up going late on a Thursday. They were out of rice but the servers let us sub in something for the rice. However would recommend not going at the end of the day as they do run out of things. Downside was that the portion was a single small dolma for $1.10. Gyro came with generous portion of shawarma meat, slice of tomato, bit of lettuce, & tzatziki sauce. Shawarma had a good strong punch of lamb flavor and spices. Pita it was wrapped in was soft & moist, just right. At a bit over $8 it was a good value in my world. Cup of Turkish coffee was usual tiny but mighty sip of extreme flavor & a good hit of caffeine. This cup had distinctly more coffee sludge at the bottom of the cup compared to most. At a couple bucks, another good deal. Interior was bright & clean. Waitress was friendly & attentive. Owner was a bright & cherry gentleman. Only downside I noted was the plastic water glass rim was chipped & cracked. This is not a fair review of the whole menu, just of one item...the Falafal pita sandwich. It would have been a lot easier to eat on a larger pita bread, but that is not my major criticism. it was totally bland. mostly due to whatever runny sauce was used...was it mayonnaise? two of us ordered it and neither one of us finished it...not worth the calories. Suggestion. Add acid. Yogurt with dill, or lemon juice would have done the trick. Figure something out. read more

The rice tasted like someone took the styrofoam container and put it through a chipper and served it to me. The falafel was a hockey puck, dry and solid. The grape leaves were.... Just not right. Tasted like 8 day old rice in there. I'm just shocked by the amount of food there was for the price... in not a good way. I DO LIKE that they give you a few things with your meal, however, if you can't nail anything in the meal... what's the point? The kids ordered beef and cheese pita. Zero moisture in the meat- just a dry blob to eat. There was no sauce on anything, and as a matter of fact, I was apprehensive when I saw that they put hot sauce on their food.
