As far as value versus price point goes in Sag Harbor, Sag Pizza can't be beat. Resultantly, it gets crazy busy on the weekends with families, but the staff seems to be able to keep up with the pace. It's modern and clean and definitely has a well stocked bar. We ended up visiting because we could smell what their wood fired oven was baking from at least a block away-- and it tasted as good as it smells. Took the family out east for an early Saturday pizza dinner to this place we have only heard amazing things about. My wife and I are about as close to 'off the boat' Italian as they come, so this establishment was on our to-do list. Upon entering, the smell of the sauce immediately had us hooked. The casual, spacious dining room was the perfect set up. We started off with blood orange margheritas with orange salt rims...they were done to perfection. Our son kept it simple and ordered a regular pie while my wife and I went with the margheritas. We shared an "Arthur Avenue" and a cavallo Nero salad. The salads were so fresh and the ingredients definitely made to order....both complemented the pizzas just right. We were so happy with the size and amount of sauce on our pies. We have tried other brick oven joints out east, they skimp on the good stuff and charge a lot more than this affordable out east gem. We will definitely return and try one of the other pizzas on the menu. We don't doubt that they will not disappoint as well. This place is well worth the trip, money and amazing taste!! This is a top 10 pizza place for me in the Northeast. Pizza was excellent! Perfectly crisp, thin and tasty. We had the San Marzano pie with Buffalo Mozzarella. I am usually Gluten free but went off course to taste this pizza , although a GF option available. For Apps we shared meatballs, arugula salad and Feta /watermelon salad. All were very good. Nothing special about the aesthetics of the place. Just your usual pizza shop with some outdoor seating available. Service was good , nothing over the top but food was served hot and in a timely fashion. However , be prepared to deal with some crowding and possibly a wait for a table on a Saturday for sure. Before I go into the food, let me say I am a big one for atmosphere and vibe. This restaurant has an upbeat, energetic, joyful vibe. You can sit inside or out this time of year, and we chose to sit inside. The staff seems to take pride in their work- very attentive and eager to please. They checked back with us often to see if we needed anything. The patrons seemed happy to be there and fully enjoying their meal. The lighting and music were not overwhelming. Great casual date or family experience. Now onto the food- First of all, I'm a pizza snob so it takes a lot for me to be impressed. Surprising to me, every pizza I tried was fantastic. Especially surprised with the fact that the gluten-free crust on one of them had no hint of the flat, paper-dry typical gluten-free flavor. I do not require gluten-free, but I would have totally eaten it anyway. The regular crust was thin and perfectly browned due to the Brick fire oven in the corner of the kitchen area. First, we had number 6, the FRANCESE - that one we did gluten-free.. Next, we had number 7 -POMODORO. Then we ate number 4- the NEW YORK PEPPERONI. Last, number 5, Summer Squash. I would highly recommend all of these as each one was unique and stood out in its own way. Beautifully presented lots of color and each distinctly flavorful. We also had a salad called the Arthur Avenue. It tasted like an antipasto all in one. Very fresh and crispy. The herbs were perfectly mixed. Most surprising and unusual was the tomato and watermelon salad with ricotta cheese and fresh basil. Light and pallet clearing. The mixture of watermelon and tomatoes was delicious. And also very pleasing to the eye. We took a break and had more wine - I recommend the. Fido Di Mezzo 2018- Calcagno. It went well with everything we ate. Time for dessert. We chose vanilla ice cream with pistachio and candied oranges and the Tiramisu. Personally, I'm an ice cream girl so I loved that dessert but my friends that are into Tiramisu said that it was amazingly good. One said, "to die for", lol. We're reach 10.59am and it was pouring out they would not open the door so we roam around for a bit and came back again it was pouring they still have not open the door and make a big deal opening it like we were there too early. As someone with a gluten sensitivity, it is hard to find good gluten free pizza. *This is by far the best gluten free pizza I've ever had.* The crust was delicious, the pepperonis were flavorful, and the ranch was great to dip the crust into. My fiancé had the mushroom truffle pizza on regular crust and loved it as well! I'd also highly recommend the seasonal iced tea, if you like strong, unsweetened tea. For dessert, we split a kids portion of the swirl soft serve with caramel popcorn topping. A great way to end the meal. Popped into Sag Pizza to have an inexpensive lunch in Sag Harbor. Glad I did. My experience was seated outside. I was seated quickly and served promptly. I ordered the Stromboli and expected what I've always had over the years. However, their's was elevated and excellent. It was thin and crispy, not doughy. The filling had prosciutto, salami and peppers and was not oily. Instead of a side dish of red sauce as most come with, this came with a side of fresh ricotta cheese drizzled with olive oil. One of the male servers upfront said 35 min wait, so we put our name on the list, but we also ended up ordering a pizza to-go because we didn't want to be rushed out of the restaurant. Ten minutes later we were told we could get our table, but they told us we couldn't eat the pizza we just bought at the restaurant. This is ridiculous, as we've already paid (full amount) and tipped the expected 20% on the total bill. Sag should be more considerate about paying customers that are looking to dine in the restaurant. Our waitress was great when she was actually at the table. Otherwise, she was not aware of us and seemingly forgot we were sitting there. It took us a good 10-20 minutes just to place the order. The pizza and salad were great and they had an interesting watermelon and tomato salad. I ordered a Roy Rodger's (Coke with Cherry flavoring) and others at our table ordered normal cokes and Dr Pepper. Instead of giving the correct things, they gave everyone a Roy Roger's which isn't necessarily bad, but it's not what was asked.
