Having been to Nick & Toni's three times in the past, I believe that the service quality and atmosphere has declined since my prior visits. Our party was given what I considered to be an inappropriate table given our party size. A four top behind my father had been split into two tables, leaving my father with minimal room to adjust his seat without bumping into the closest table - the dinner was quite uncomfortable for him. We expressed multiple times that the lighting at our table had issues as the bulb kept flickering and staff struggled to adjust the lights repeatedly - the dining room was between bright and dim most of night. Our server was friendly, but did not offer the service we have come to expect from Nick & Toni's - we had to keep asking for water, the table was left dirty at times, etc. We were visiting to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday. She loved Nick & Toni's when she and I visited in the past and this was communicated when the reservation was made. I called to make a reservation as soon as the books opened, at 2PM one month prior, and do not understand why the table our party was sat at was so subpar whilst we passed various other empty tables at the same time as our reservation. In terms of the food quality, we felt that the entrees were hit or miss. The rosemary focaccia was wonderful, as was the Ribeye. The eggplant entree was overcooked/burnt and lacked flavor - this dish might need revision. read more

We decided to revisit Nick and Tony's, which is one of my all-time favorite places to eat when in the Hamptons and it never let you down fantastic meal. Off season visit but the food and service was great. I could have eaten several servings of short rib ricotta ravioli they were so good, the homemade pasta was fantastic. The chocolate pecan tart was my favorite out of the two desserts we ordered, the tart itself and the ice cream went together perfectly. We finally made it to this institution after I decided at the last minute to go to Montauk for my birthday this weekend, which happens to coincide with Labor Day weekend. We were able to get a reservation at 8:45 pm at the bar for Friday night- I could not believe it. When we arrived we waited only a few minutes and we were seated in the dining room- we were told the bar area never truly clears out- and I was thrilled. We had the famous zucchini chips for an appetizer, the panzanella salads then seafood for the entrees. The staff was attentive and cordial, they treat everyone as if you are important, which I think is spectacular for The Hamptons. The music was filling the restaurant and it was perfect for my birthday dinner. My only gripe (which seems irrelevant because, Hamptons) is the parking situation and there are no lights anywhere in their lot. It adds to the East Hampton charm, but we did have to park pretty far away. All in all, perfect dinner. read more

Finally made it to this Hampton's institution and it did not disappoint. Came here for an early dinner around 5:30 pm on a Friday and was able to get a seat at a bar. The interior of this restaurant is beautifully decorated and intimately lit. Definitely a cute place to take a date. We started off with cocktails, and I was happy to find that my dirty martini was made to perfection -- just the right amount of olive juice. Next, we ordered the focaccia which is a must have. The outside was crispy, the inside was fluffy and airy and the flaky sea salt and rosemary absolutely made this dish. We also split their baked clams special which was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and the yellowfin tuna crudo was fresh, salty and delicious. We also had the half portions of their lobster pasta with fresh local corn and penne dish that was their take on an a la vodka, also excellent. Service as friendly and prompt, our bartender Stephanie took great care of us. I've seen other reviews saying this place is overhyped but hard disagree. Staying in business for 36 years out in the Hamptons is not a fluke. This place is doing everything right. read more

Funny to review this place after going for so many years. Recently we've been eating in the bar, either at one of the high tops or at the bar itself. We recently ate at the bar and had a wonderful evening. The ambience was convivial if a little frenetic, but in a fun way. There was a great crowd at the bar. If you want quiet the dining room is a better choice. Cocktails were delicious and service at the bar was excellent. The current chef is excellent and the food is better than ever. I started with roasted mussels in a puttanesca sauce and had homemade pasta with a rustic sauce and a burrata...both excellent. My dining companion enjoyed the beet salad and the shrimp crudo. The fried zucchini was amazing, sliced so thin and crispy with a Parmesan coating. The halibut was good and the tartufo is a must for dessert. It serves two people! We were looking forward to dining there with our out of town guests and were extremely disappointed and annoyed at the lack of professionalism of Nick and Toni's when our reservation for July 3rd which was made a month in advance was cancelled by the restaurant just a few hours before our seating time. They have a policy of charging $50 per person late cancellation fee but have no problem cancelling customer reservations and offering no recourse. Very unprofessional and not worth patronizing when there are plenty of other exceptional dining options in the area. Beware! read more

We were out east for the day and decided to give this restaurant a try. Always heard good things about it. Reservation was easy and we were seated promptly. We started with the Cesar salad which was good. One thing that started to annoy me early on was the service. I had to ask for everything. Water refills, bread, plates for the bread. For the main dishes we got two pasta dishes. One was a special with rigatoni with bolognese and the other was lobster Campanella. Both dishes were very good but the rigatoni was barely warm. Very disappointing. Price was fair but we wouldn't go back. I just feel like a place with this type of reputation should have had much better service and hospitality. read more

I had dinner last Sunday on the heated porch with friends to celebrate a wedding, a birthday and someone becoming a US citizen. We picked Nick and Toni's to celebrate because the food and the service never disappoint. To produce "foie gras" (the French term means "fatty liver"), workers ram pipes down the throats of ducks and geese several times a day in a process known as "gavage." This force-feeding of excessive amounts of food causes the birds' livers to swell to up to 10 times their normal size. Many birds have difficulty standing because their engorged livers distend their abdomens, and they may tear out their own feathers and attack each other out of stress. These animals have such terrible lives, that I would never step foot in a restaurant that serves it. read more

The service is always friendly and attentive, the specials are always interesting, and the food is consistently excellent. i had the tuna crudo (one of my favorite appetizers, and my second helping this week). While it is tough to compete with Pastis's version, this came awfully close. Jalapeno and bacon lent flavor and texture to the impeccably serve tuna slices. Main course was a grouper special. i decided i don't love grouper, but it was an issue with the fish itself. The presentation, on a bed of couscous and greens, was flavorful and interesting.
