We originally came to Mid Island while my daughter was competing at another Long Island gym. Although she was doing well there, I began to feel that the focus had shifted too heavily toward competition scores above all else. While success at meets is important, I wanted a gym that also prioritized my daughter's self-esteem, motivation, and -- most importantly -- her love of gymnastics. So, we took some time to explore our options, visiting a few nearby gyms and taking advantage of trial classes. The moment we stepped into Mid Island and met Meghan, the owner, we knew instantly that we had found our new gym home. Meghan's love for children is apparent in everything she does -- from her warm, welcoming demeanor to her flexibility in accommodating her students' busy schedules. The coaching staff at Mid Island shares that same passion. They not only teach the technical skills of gymnastics but also nurture the social and emotional growth of every child. Each coach brings their own unique style and perspective, which gives gymnasts a well-rounded approach to learning new skills. Yet, no matter their individual methods, one thing is consistent -- their genuine care for the athletes and love for the sport. The facility itself is large, clean, and thoughtfully organized. Classes flow smoothly from event to event thanks to well-planned rotations that ensure groups have plenty of time to practice while avoiding overcrowding. Beyond the technical training, what has meant the most to me is the uncompromising commitment to safety. As a mom, I have peace of mind knowing the coaches prioritize my daughter's physical readiness and proper form over everything else. She feels secure enough to be brave here because she knows her coaches truly have her back. But the real magic of Mid Island is the profound sense of family Meghan has built. She doesn't just run a business; she nurtures a community. Through the Friendsgiving gatherings, festive holiday parties, and the beautiful end-of-the-year banquet, Meghan creates "out of leotard" moments that turn teammates into sisters. These traditions have given my daughter memories (and friendships) that I know will last a lifetime. The friendships I've made with the other parents have been just as life-changing. We aren't just sitting in a lobby together; we've become a support system. We've laughed through the long meet weekends and formed our own bonds during the gym events Meghan hosts. There is nothing quite like sitting in the stands with people who have become your dear friends, cheering for every single girl on that floor as if she were your own. In a sport that can so often feel high-pressure and individual, Mid Island has given us a warm, supportive village. Reserving your spot for a party is simple. You can call and then swing by to drop off your deposit. The whole process is explained then including what to expect and what they provide. They also give you helpful recommendations on where to order food for your party at. A week before the party they call to get a final head count and to provide you with your remaining balance. The call was super friendly and provided me time to ask any questions. For the party they are ready for you at the door. If you are after a party, they clean up the space and get you going right away. The kids are brought into the gym and then split up into different groups with a coach for each group. Lots of action going on and they handle everything. No need to worry about your little ones. Just make sure you have your camera ready. They rotate from station to station so that each kid gets to experience it all. After an hour or so, they get the party together and then have the birthday kid "fly". It was really cool. After that they lineup all the kiddos for a group shot. Next up is pizza and cake. They handle serving and cutting everything. You just have to order the pizza yourself and by the cake. They have a freezer as well. Cups, plates, napkins, balloons are all on them. They also have a knife for the cake and a lighter for the candles. Everything was soooo easy and the staff was so friendly. Each parent was beaming with how much fun their kid had (and how tired the kid was haha). Absolutely somewhere we will consider for future parties!

The party ran from 3:45- 5:15 and started off with about 20 minutes of tumbling, jumping and floor play on inflatables. I really liked the different areas and how well organized each staff member was with supervision of the girls and incorporating different areas of the gym for the time spent. There is a area for inflatables (bounce houses), foam balance beam, jumping mats. The staff interacted great with the group and provided adequate supervision while the girls were on the equipment. I thought my daughter would have been afraid of heights and swinging, however she was confident, comfortable and had a great time. Once the girls finished in the gym, we headed over to their party room for Pizza, drinks and cake. The staff handled the party with ease and were exceptional. The host handed out her party favors and ended the party on time. I would have definitely added a star if the facility was renovated and more visually appealing. Overall, this is a great venue idea for a birthday party gathering. Simple to plan and a great time for the kids.

One time she was assigned to a balance beam that was too big for her to mount. No one noticed, and she just stood there watching the other kids practice on the beams.
