Walked in about 40 minutes before closing, so I sat at the bar, they had the NBA finals on, so that was nice. It was quite loud in there to be a Monday night, there was a rowdy table of 6-8 sat by the door having a good/loud time, paired with the house music and other restaurant sounds. I ordered the crab puffs, seared sashimi, and the king crab calamari. The crab puffs are meant to be like crab Rangoon, but the filling reminded me of a jalapeño popper. Still good, just wouldn't order them again. I didn't care for the seared sashimi, it looks & sounds Nobu inspired, but it was either drowning in too much sauce or maybe the fish could have been fresher. The king grab calamari was delightful, and I would make a return visit just for this dish alone. It can out like a sushi roll, and I loved the flavor and texture combo of this roll. read more

I visited this establishment on 2 separate occasions and experienced atrocious service as well as food outcome. I did a takeout, 2x. At the time of contacting the restaurant to complain (after the food outcome), the establishment did not have an email address where one could write and its Comments section on the website does not work. I ordered a grilled chicken salad for its in-restaurant menu description of robust ingredients (listed). What came out was a bed of wilted, soggy lettuce, a row of undergrilled chicken, 1 circle of cucumber, 1 circle of tomato, and 1 edamame. The restaurant calls itself upscale. Horrendous experience and extremely overpriced for the value and size. Atmosphere felt pleasant but I had a takeout so am judging the experience on the basis of waiting for 12 min to be assisted. I do not recommend this place at all. Its management should change its "upscale" description or adjust how it presents and prices food items. The online menu does not include any description of item descriptions, only titles of menu items. read more

The restaurant is tucked away in a shopping strip and is a very nice and Inviting place. It is very clean well lit and they have booths and tables. The food is all made to order and comes out hot and fresh. The service was good. Bright the food out as it was made and filled up drinks quickly. Well worth it but you are going to pay a high price for good sushi. read more

Visited Houston for a day on business, Sage 400 was across the street from the hotel thought we give it a try ! We enjoyed the atmosphere grab some appetizers and sushi and the combo rice is a must have with truffle oil let's just say I was sad when we finished it all. Someone recommended me to go to this place for their truffle fried rice with shrimp. This place has an upscale feel to it without seeming too fancy. The staff were quick to take my order, bring food, and assist me as needed. My favorite dish was the Chilean sea bass. The server said they are known for this dish and I can understand why! The fish melt in your mouth and flakes off so easily. I'm often skeptical about ordering white fish at restaurants because it's often overcooked. However, the orange sauce was a nice touch to the fish. I also ordered the Hamachi taro chips and their sushi. The Hamachi taro chips consisted of a pretty small portion, and the sushi was pretty good as well. If I come here again, I think I would skip the sushi because a lot of other places have sushi just as good for a little cheaper or comparable price. read more

Placed a To Go Order since I was staying at the Marriott directly behind Sage. It was raining and they agreed to deliver to their back door so that I didn't have to walk all the way around in the rain. The service was incredibly helpful and informative. They seated me swiftly and gave me a menu. They have really elegant sushi selections here. I ordered the Sunset Roll. The waitress kindly gave me info as I ordered-- "Just an FYI, this is cucumber-wrapped, no rice" and that my upgrade to the crab was an extra $12. The blue fin tuna was really excellent. A coworker and I sat at a high table in the bar area. The service there from Johnny and the other bartender was Top Notch. They had some homemade blue cheese olives for my Tito's Martini. Drinks were excellent and on time. We started with the Spicy Edamame, and I'll just say, it's pretty spicy, and I like that, but some folks might think it's a little much. We shared some appetizers: The Seared Pepper Tuna Roll that came out like a rose. It was killer, amazing flavor and presentation. The Miso Chilean Sea Bass appetizer was the feature of the night. It is possibly the best Sea Bass I've ever had. Absolutely killer. Pretty good size for two to share as well. We had a few roll recommendations and for the life of me I cannot recall the names. One had a tempura shrimp on the inside, and it was incredible. The other alternated sashimi on top, with the Salmon and Tuna alternating, and it was incredible. I would go on a vacation to Houston just to eat here. The atmosphere was excellent, the service was top notch, and the sushi and Japanese creations were some of my favorite. I am truly a regular here. With a great bar staff John and Andrew which have become great friends when I'm in town for work and have to report to the corporate office it is a daunting drive from my corporate office all the way home about over an hour drive so I frequent Sage to let traffic die out and catch up with the crew there and enjoy some really good food. My go tos here are the lyche martini and ever since Andrew recommended the combination truffle rice I almost always order that dish. It's very addicting and I can't get enough of it. The ambiance is nice and inviting and after a long day of work I can rely on Sage and feel comforted knowing I'm going to get great food and great service! The restaurant has an uptown vibe/ambiance yet casual at the same time. The price is on the higher end, but given the location it makes sense. I ordered the volcano roll which is my favorite! The foie gras was delicious but there was too much sauce so my nigiri broke down into pieces which was hard to eat even though they gave us a spoon.. Arrived to a remarkably unassuming looking spot that I almost thought was closed it was so dark but as soon as we opened the door it was clear this is a popular spot as it was full but still able to immediately seat us. Really cool decor; loved the sleek look and open sushi bar. Service was fast and friendly and food arrived quickly. I had a salad bowl called Sunomono which is a variety of sushi - shrimp, octopus,surf clam, white fish and a crab stick served over a cucumber salad. It was good but not blow your mind amazing! I understand good sushi can be pricey and I am happy to pay that but I felt this place was overpriced for the quality of what you got - a small amount of cucumber, a crab stick ( never seen that in a high end sushi restaurant) and some small cheaper cuts of fish - it was also a dire need of dine seasoning of some kind as it was quite bland. A bit of heat and some sesame oil would have changed this! Overall not bad but certainly not the best sushi restaurant I have been too and would not go out of my way to return. read more
