All they offered was their typical 30-day guarantee, something you get no matter what, and for someone to come back out to clean the mess. The first two technicians they sent spent hours troubleshooting but completely failed to find the issue. Instead of properly diagnosing the system, they installed a non-OEM control board without my knowledge or consent. This unauthorized part risked causing further damage to my electrical system through power fluctuations. When that didn't fix the AC, they guessed the AC contactor was the problem and replaced it twice to no avail. It wasn't until the sixth visit that a senior tech finally came out and identified the actual root cause: a damaged low-voltage power line leading from the AC to the house. This is a fundamental issue that should have been caught on day one. Dealing with a broken AC in the middle of summer is hard enough, but enduring a dragged-out, six-visit ordeal with a newborn baby in the house made their incompetence a complete nightmare. Ultimately, because they left my system compromised, I had to hire an entirely different, independent HVAC company to actually fix the problem. To make matters worse, I sent a detailed email to Duct Professor management outlining these failures and requesting a refund for the misdiagnoses and unauthorized parts. They completely ignored me. They had different methods for different vent styles, and helped with a few above and beyond tasks, like re-shaping a bent duct. It seemed like a pretty intense job, but they were in good spirits the whole time. Further update- we just learned that we have carbon monoxide circulating from our furnace. The…read moretechnician who ran positive tests for carbon monoxide in multiple ducts throughout the house pointed to a faulty heat exchanger and/or poor installation. He noted that the heat exchanger was set to combusting gas. As I wrote in my last updated review, we became aware of issues with the installation last season when I noticed water pooling on top of our furnace. Another HVAC technician diagnosed the pipes venting the furnace were not sealed. This allowed condensation to escape at multiple joints in the pipe that seeped down and pooled on top of the furnace. When the technician removed the front of the furnace, we found a layer of rust and build up on the bottom interior of the furnace. He said that we are lucky that this didn't come in contact with a nearby circuit panel, but that we should take care of it ASAP. Chicagoland Air Duct reiterated that it was outside their warranty, and further added that they no longer do furnace installation. After speaking with a Goodman Rep about a possibly faulty heat exchanger I was told that the part definitely is covered by the warranty, but that the labor is not. Another HVAC company quoted around $2000 for that labor. I am about to contact Chicagoland Air Duct and ask them to please do the right thing and address this problem. Wish me luck.
