    A12. Saigon Chicken Wings

NO COMPLAINTS! I love love love this place! I've only ever eaten inside so I was apprehensive about ordering through doordash because of the food quality, but I was not disappointed. I ordered the saigon chicken wings which came hot and crispy, yet still juicy and flavorful. They were a little too fatty for me, but the kids devoured them. I also got the (lunch) pad see ew, which honestly felt big enough to be a dinner portion. I wasn't able to choose a spice level on doordash so the flavor was a little bland for my liking, but I still really enjoyed it. Overall, 10/10 experience. Can't wait to visit the restaurant again.

I've noticed that there is quite a lot of Viet restaurants around. I thought I'd give a few of them a try. Granted I didn't order any pho. So if you want to read about that you'll have to skip over. I was a bit surprise on the rating scale of this spot vs another where they had high ratings. I don't know about you. But this place is clearly the winner. The porkchop over rice hit the spot! I honestly can't remember the last time I had a good viet porkchop. The flavors, the tender meat and the side of pickle veggies had a great balance. The WINGS. Now THIS guy knows how to bread/fry the wings. Crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. Legit asian style fried wings. I only highlight this as I wrote a previous review that disappointed me in so many levels. As for the fried Squid. It was alright. The crisp is there but the squid tasted like the frozen kinds that has no real "squid" flavor. But crunchin on em was still equally pleasing with the sauce given. Although the fish sauce would've been a better choice for dipping but that's just my opinion.

This is the second time I've ordered to-go from Saigon Cafe. The first time was in Summer 2020 and I recall not being overly impressed. But last summer was nuts and we decided to give them another try last weekend. I'm so glad we did!!! I ordered the veggie and tofu pad see-ew for $13.99. The portion was generous and super delicious! The tofu and veggies were very flavorful along with the noodles. The texture was absolutely perfect. I want it again right now. We ordered the fried wontons as an appetizer and they were also fantastic. The price seems high at $8.49, so I'm not sure we'll be able to get them in the future...but I'm happy to have tried them. The dipping sauce that goes with them is delicious; I'm not entirely sure what it was though. Maybe sweet chili sauce with vinegar? Something to note is that, like a lot of restaurants right now, their current print menu prices aren't accurate. The prices are now anywhere from $.50 to $1 more per item. I think they're waiting for costs to settle before printing a new menu.

Lunch today. My first visit to the Saigon Cafe, corner Elmwood and Utica. Our hostess/server, Jennifer, was very pleasant. When the dishes we'd ordered were set before us, Lynette thought we'd over-ordered. Always easy to do when you're hungry. But we cleaned the plates so I think we'd ordered just enough. The food was all very good. We asked about the weekend brunch, but that is not available yet. Perhaps as things get more normalized. I loved all the windows and the natural lighting of an overcast day. The pressed tin ceiling is gorgeous, but looking up and around, you see things that need dusting. We're all working toward normal, so I'm not expecting every place to be at the top of their game. The food, the flavors, the décor, our server provided a delightful lunch experience.

This is my family's favorite Thai food place in Western New York. We've been coming here for a couple years and have never been disappointed. Our favorites are the classics, Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. Favorite appetizer is the spring rolls. You can get them ranging from "No Spice" to "Asian Hot" and honestly the medium is more than I care to handle, but other folks we know love the heat. Service is super friendly and I even chatting with the cook once. Everyone's incredibly nice, and personable. I never feel rushed here. Lunch prices are more affordable than dinner, and I usually have plenty to take home, so it's always good bang for your buck. We make it a point to eat here every time we're in the area!

Hurry on over to Saigon so you can thai put some good food!!! Headed over here to meet a friend for lunch and we had such a good time with great food! Got there as soon as they opened and seated at a nice window spot, tons of bright light (great photo lighting haha) and served infused water which was a cute touch. Prices are very fair here, especially for the portion! Beautiful presentation for all the food too! We started with fried spring rolls, loaded with the veg and a delicious dipping sauce. I ordered the tofu pad Thai which was AWESOME! Topped with veg, peanuts, and delicious spice (you can choose your spice level also GF options). My friend ordered the crazy noodles (white ginger suave with veg and chicken and flat noodles) which had incredible flavour too! Greta lunch specials! Definitely would get food from them again! Great service and great options on the menu and something for everyone!

Came here for dinner with a friend and had what I would describe as an a-okay experience! We were promptly seated, but the service was really, really slow. I'm a very patient person, but we waited half an hour for our food to come out and since it was just the two of us, we were a little annoyed. People who came in after us were eating before us which was a little perplexing. Our waitress was really kind and kept us posted on our food quite often; she was really sweet. As for the food itself, my friend got the curry udon and really enjoyed it. I decided to order chicken pad Thai, and while I did like it, I found it to be on the blander side. There wasn't any real spice even though I asked for it, and it didn't have a ton of variation in flavor. I wish we would have gotten an appetizer so I'd have more to base this review off of. Their menu is huge so I wouldn't be opposed to getting takeout sometime. Maybe they were having an off night so I still think I'd try eating here again in the future!

The soup was still delicious -and I didn't reheat it- ! I got the Pad Ka Pow with pork and an order of the spring rolls. The service was so fast here and friendly. I got my food to go and it was still piping hot when I got home 15 minutes later. This is quite the meal with a large portion of rice in the main dish and five spring rolls. It was delicious from start to finish. Each dish came with an extra sauce to use or dip into. The spring rolls were crispy and full of flavor. The pad ka pow was a perfect balance of savory flavor with the right amount of spice. I should have asked to get shrimp with it this time, but that will happen when I go back next time. The parking at Chandler Street can be a little tough but I found a spot which was nice. The building is full of businesses so it is a nice place to be when you're hungry. Tiny Thai is one of my new favorite places to check out in the city and if you're ever over near the Westside, you should too!

The cashier was a little gruff, but the woman running back and forth between the kitchen and the front had a better business sense about keeping customers happy. She didn't want me to wait long, so I think she rushed the kitchen a little bit, which I appreciated, but also may have led to some of the demerits on the food I mention below. I was happy to see one dish I ordered, the pig intestine with fish, on their picture board above the cash registers. That gave me confidence that they knew what they were doing and it was the best dish by far out of the three I ordered. The intestine was fresh and flavorful, the spice level was high, but also not too salty. It was a lot of food. Only drawback here was the fish (tilapia?) seemed to be heavy on the breading. The other two dishes were disappointing. Penang curry with pork had good vegetables, but the sauce had too little flavor since they went too heavy on the coconut milk. The pork seemed like chicken, not pork. Way too soft and flavorless. The Singapore Chow Mei Fun had good noodles and veggies. But the curry powder was not blended in. Eating it, I could still feel it in powder form. It was also far too oily. Overall, I think they had a lot of options but next time I'd steer more towards classic Chinese, since that seems to be what they do well. I hope next time the flavors will be stronger and blended better (i.e. powders actually stirred in). I'm willing to give them another chance, since they do have a lot of dishes I like. Last note: the online ordering service does not indicate that dishes come with rice. I thought they would have rice by default, but then when I added the penang curry to my cart, it asked whether I wanted rice or noodles or something else. So that made me think I had to order rice separately, which meant I had twice as much rice as I needed. It also said "quart of white rice" was sold out, but "pint of white rice" was not, yet the rice that came with my meal came in a quart container.

Honestly hard to find over the last few years and I was very grateful for that experience alone. The ambience was a very cozy-casual. As I was dining alone this time, I enjoyed the 80s music and videos playing on the TV haha I have to be honest ... I really really wanted to order a roll! But I'm trying to do better about trying other things. So I ordered the Atlantic mussels and the pan seared scallops with veggies with fresh ginger sauce and rice, at a spice level of 3/5. The mussels were very generous and in a large bowl. My biggest pull, aside from the mussels themselves, was that in the description it had a creamy coconut sauce. But I did not taste any coconut and it wasn't creamy. It was broth. It wasn't bad or anything, just not quite what I was expecting. I did appreciate, in general, that there were a couple of mussel options. I hadn't had them in quite some time. The dinner entree was very good. I loved that there was a 1-5 spice scale to choose from. I picked level 3 and was a little worried it wouldn't be spicy enough but it definitely was! It was perfect. The sauce was good and the scallops plump. Veggies were fresh and rice sticky. I had water to drink and it was also very good (felt it deserved a mention lol). I would definitely come back here, but I would definitely order rolls next time! It's what my heart really desires! Side note: great place to indulge in for a whole food diet! I felt very satisfied from my seafood and veggies!!
