I caught a cold and wanted some pho. We had tried Street Asian Food once before about six years ago. This time we ordered the Burmese beef curry, shrimp pho and veggie fried spring rolls. The Burmese beef curry was actually great, perfect portion and amount of beef for $15. I asked for it to be really spicy and it was, which was very nice. My husband chose this and really enjoyed it I ordered the pho and added shrimp for a total of $15. They gave me a quart of broth, which was very nice and flavorful...and five small shrimp. They included plenty of rice noodles. The toppings could've been more generous. I only got one sprig of mint and I could barely find the green onions or cilantro, literally. Plenty of bean sprouts, tho. The included hot sauce is delicious. The vegetable spring rolls were ok..I wish they had more veggie filling, they were pretty empty. At $6 for three, I don't think they're worth $2 each. All in all, it was a pretty good experience. We'll probably try more of the menu at some point. read more

I met up with a friend to catch up on a cold day so it was obviously time to order pho. My first time here, I was impressed with the large menu and variety of Asian cuisines offered in this fun and casual spot. They seem to do a large takeout business but have some tables to sit inside and eat as well. The pho was hot and delicious and had plenty of big shrimp that were perfectly cooked. The dumplings may have been tasty, but there was almost nothing inside the dumplings so every bite tasted primarily like the casing. DEFINITELY not worth the $6. Discovered this place when I went to the Little Salmon Yelp event . Very clean and friendly /attentive customer service . That day I ordered the Thai basil fried rice with chicken (spice level medium) . It was a generous portion and although flavorful , was a bit too spicy for me . Yesterday , I suggested that I pick up some Thai takeout from this place on my way home from work for my friend and I . We chose a few things off the menu .... A Chicken Pad Thai, the Street Asian Food Medley, and the grilled salmon sushi roll . I suggested we do a mild spice level since the rice the week before was so intense, heat wise. The food was ready and waiting for us . The street Asian food was my favorite of the 3 .... It contained a protein punch with chicken , shrimp, beef, pork and scallops (I omitted the squid) . I do wish it came with more white rice . The salmon roll was fresh tasting too , I'd like to try more of their sushi selections . Sadly , the pad Thai was a bit bland , believe it or not, it may of benefited being spicier (and more cilantro) . I ordered from street Asian food two meals to see what they had to offer. One meal was the chicken Pho and the other was Pad Thai. The pho was really great and came with a great broth that was housemade and I really enjoyed that. The pad Thai appeared so bone dry (see pic) that I wasn't sure what to expect. For the price, it was definitely the smallest portion this meal I've ever received, compared to other local offerings. It tasted fine, but definitely did not look very appealing. Personally I get their salads. The foods is overpriced, but the salads are tasty enough to make it worth it. Their other offerings mostly range from average to slightly above average. These dishes also have consistency issues. But I haven't had a problem with the bold flavors in their salad bowls. I often get extra dressing to use on meat dishes at home. It reminds me of a Thai tigercry steak sauce, and it is addictive. read more

Our first lunch (Day 1, Meal 2) on our Western New York family vacation was Street Asian Food. Having done our research ahead of time, we selected this restaurant because it was open on Mondays, we love pan-Asian food, and it was conveniently located between the Frank Lloyd Wright House and our next destination, the Buffalo Naval Park. Arriving at the restaurant at 12:40pm, street parking was super easy, so we proceeded inside to discover it was ... completely empty. However while studying the large, wall-mounted menu board, an employee soundlessly appeared from behind the curtain leading to what I presume was the kitchen. Apparently in the mood for sushi rolls, we ordered a mango roll, two spicy rolls (one each crab and salmon), a green avocado roll, a coconut shrimp roll, four lemonades, and a tea. Before tax and tip, our bill came to $52, which felt appropriately pricey, considering what we ordered. Oddly, other than telling us how much our order cost, I do not think the employee said a single word, offering no advice, suggestions, or even comments like "that is a good roll" or "you will love this one!" We then moved to the dining area in the front part of the restaurant, and since the place was deserted, we moved a couple of tables so all five of us could sit together. However after a few minutes, we had to move the tables further away from the trap door in the floor, because it was strangely uneven / wobbly. Décor in the restaurant was pleasingly straightforward, with clean black walls on the top half, a green chair rail (plus green accents), and white walls (clapboard?) below the rail. A few generically pan-Asian photos of food, people, and people enjoying food completed the motif. In short order, our rolls were wordlessly delivered by the employee, and I have to say that my coconut shrimp roll looked fantastic! Everyone in our family agreed that the presentation was top notch, and their rolls looked great! Likewise everyone said their rolls tasted from good to very good, but none were great. We felt the portion sizes were about average. For good food with an outstanding presentation, I rate Street Asian Food as being Very Good, and would definitely return! read more

First time here today. It's a quaint little place with a rather ambitious menu blending Thai, Vietnamese, Burmese, even Japanese with black / white rice sushi rolls, variety of soups (including Pho). Served over white rice, the pieces of eggplant were slightly caramelized but still juicy and full of flavor over a bed of sauce sort of resembling a rich gravy. From the inside it's not much to look-at, and everyone orders at the counter and then they bring you out your food, but the dishes we ordered and service was great this past Friday evening! My husband and I tried the salmon roll, the pad see wee with chicken and their chicken spring rolls. Salmon roll with white rice was nicely prepared and a large roll for the price. Chicken spring rolls were nice and hot and yummy. The pad see wee was delicious!!! Had seen others comment saying some of the best that they had tried, and I have to agree! Very flavorful and I wish I had a nice hot plate of it now! We dined with another couple who enjoyed some of their Burmese specialties, curry chicken and a chicken fried rice. In a world, where shelves are bare of essentials, I'm happy to say the Asian restaurants are still turning out rice based delicacies. My cupboard is stocked, after much panic, and there's a sushi mat in the drawer (still in its wrapper, hiding from my clumsy hands) but it's been a long week at work, and there is no way I'm spending my night slaving over a mat to make lopsided rolls. Instead, I nudged my mate to enlist the help of some professionals. They did in fifteen minutes what would have taken me hours. Now I'm not sure what makes the food "street," as opposed to "restaurant," but right now it's "apartment" Asian food as we struggle to tune out the neighbor's tv. The place seems to be more of a carryout restaurant by design, so do us one up and pick a nice quiet place to attune your senses to your taste buds instead of your ears. I'll admit, I'm a bit of a picky eater, in part due to a nasty tree nut allergy. I had him ask the waiter (or whatever we're calling the dude that picks up the phone) if the tofu was safe, as some restaurants prepare it to kill me, and he redirected our concerns to the chef. The chef admitted english wasn't his forte, and out of fear of poisoning me, agreed to assemble a crab roll wrap instead. I ordered it without asparagus, because my father's cooking has scarred me for life, and I was not about to risk mushy veggies with an already creamy center of avocado. The description noted an addition of cream cheese, which mellowly married it all together. Thin strips of carrots crowded into a corner (a side part, I suppose, as rolled things don't have corners) to provide a bit of crunch. Now, I don't know what happened between the phone call, and picking up the brown bag at the corner where he swiped his credit card, but I ended up with the tofu. Whether he realized I wouldn't die, or simply got confused, I'm not complaining. It was springy and made with TLC. I tried to come up with a clever new acronym for that, but I'm in a bit of a food coma (a pleasant feeling after spending the afternoon starving in anticipation) and have nothing. The wrap was offered with black rice. My mate chose white for me, so I can't comment on if it has the earthy, nutty taste Google tells me it does, nor reap the benefits of the added protein. What I can point out is how rice paper in combination with the nori made it a bit awkward to gnaw at if you're going to eat it like a burrito. My tugging caused a bit of ploopage out the back end. Not to worry, as I didn't waste the wonderful morsels. It's a comical gimmick, for sure, but I can check this one off my bucket list. My mate ordered three rolls to sate his appetite, one shrimp, two salmon. The salmon came raw, an off menu offering from the chef. That meant no sauce, which perhaps could have completed the lackluster roll. It wasn't bad, though the avocado overpowered the fish. It's just that he'd had better. In fact, better had been the shrimp roll, which he pointed out was above standard, with a perfect amount of avocado, and a great spicy mayo. It's a roll to come back to, mayhaps paired with a different fishy friend. All in all, worth a revisit, as there is much more to the menu to explore. So tuck that sushi mat further into the drawer, and let the professionals do their thang. read more

It's really good food, which is the most important thing with a restaurant. The name is a little misleading (at least for me) because I immediately thought it would be a ton of a la carte, cheap, and authentic foods you would buy from a street vendor in Asia. It's not. It's well prepared meals that are at a price point that makes it a treat type of place as opposed to something you can afford every day. I've walked by this place so many times and finally stopped in tonight! Our meal was AMAZING. We ordered a shrimp tempura roll with black rice, pad see ew with beef, beef fried rice and Burmese chicken noodle soup. Everything was on point; the only thing I would change would be to switch out the black rice for white sushi rice next time. But honestly, that pad see ew was the best I've ever had. I took one bite of the broccoli and had to stop for a minute because I just couldn't believe how good it tasted. The Burmese chicken curry is the best thing I've ever discovered. I've eaten it dozens of times and it will hit every.single.time.

Grubhub ordered a sushi burrito and it was delicious! Large in size and portions for the price. Mango sticky rice I got was okay... the rice was plain with just the sauce over topped when, If done correct, the sauce should be cooked into the rice making it sweet. Mango also wasn't ripe enough yet given with it. Tried (in person) this finally last night and it was mediocre at best ‍ I got just a chicken pad Thai.... while the portion was very generous, it was just noodles and chicken! No ingredients cooked in it , like other pad Thai I have had. There were peanuts and bean sprouts on top but that was all. The sauce also has an overly strong tomato base flavor to it. It's great to see another eatery on this not-so-bustling stretch of Elmwood. While I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here or grab takeout, I live in the neighborhood and intend to return. I tried the Crispy Eggplant Special with tofu, medium spice level, and my husband the Burmese chicken curry, medium spice as well. While the eggplant weren't crispy (they may have been at one point, since I could see some sort of batter on them), the overall dish was good, and the spice level was just right. My husband really enjoyed his chicken curry. We both could have easily eaten more rice to mop up the sauce in our dishes, but the amount of white rice we were given was a reasonable amount. The counter staff is very friendly, and if you're eating in, will bring the food to your table on real plates/bowls with silverware. There are only two little things I would have liked: the eatery could have a cooler or even just a pitcher of tap water that customers dining in could help themselves to, and I wish hot tea was a beverage option, even if there were a charge for it. Right now all the drinks for sale are cold ones (Coke products, bottled water, and Thai iced tea and coffee), but with the cold fall we're having and winter approaching, hot tea would be great. This recently opened business on Elmwood is absolutely perfect. I came here for the first time on Friday night and fell in love immediately. This place offers up some delicious dishes from all over Asian from Thailand and Burma, to various other South Asian dishes. The place itself looks brand new inside and has some special charm to it. The giant menu posted on the wall makes it extremely difficult to decide what to eat (so many options) but makes stopping here quick and convenient. I ended up ordering the Traditional Burmese Curry Chicken which pretty much sums up what it is, Chicken with curry, white rice, and potatoes. The wait was only about 10 minutes and before I knew it I had a hot bowl in front of me that smelled incredible. Once it cooled down (I wasn't going to burn my mouth again this week) I got to taste just how good the dish was, amazing. The chicken was tender, the potatoes were soft, and thanks to me dumping all of my white rice in the bowl, it all tasted like that delicious curry. If you like Asian food of any sort, you owe it to yourself to come check out this new business in the Elmwood Village. This is easily one of my favorite restaurants in Buffalo. The folks that own the restaurant are very nice. Everything I've ordered has been good. My favorite dish is the Burmese Chicken Curry. It is so savory and one of my favorite foods to eat in the winter. I could eat this dish every day and not get sick of it! My wife loves their healthy tofu sushi wrap. We enjoy using tofu in our diet for protein, so it is nice that the restaurant has many tofu options. Their heathy salads are good too, especially the Papaya.
