I had a serious craving for some fresh spring rolls and so I thought I would check this place out. I chose to go the take-out route and the customer service was great! I ordered the four spring rolls (two of the shrimp and pork and two with just pork), two fried egg rolls and a strawberry bubble tea. The fresh spring rolls were just "meh". I was hoping for something with more variety such as carrots and cucumber not to mention more than only a paper thin slice of pork sausage (which had zero flavor whatsoever). Also I was really hoping for the egg roll wrapper rolled tightly and fried. That part adds some really great textures to fresh spring rolls with pork sausage, but there was none of that. Aside from that, the fried egg rolls were really delicious and I enjoyed the dipping sauce for the spring rolls. The bubble tea on the other hand was not at all something I would order again. The consistency was chalky and the flavor really left something to be desired. Frankly, it gave me a stomachache. Unfortunately, the only place I know of near me that has fresh spring rolls besides Saigon Cafe is 20 minutes away and has difficult hours of operation. I will be trying them out next, but most likely still getting them from this establishment for sake of convenience. read more

The server was attentive, but very quiet. The food was bland. Ordered the Vietnamese egg roll and chicken pho. Pretty safe and standard, something I used to order all the time when we lived in Ontario- which has amazing pho places! Was hoping to find a place in Kenosha with good pho- this is not it. Will not be returning. Soup was bland, no cinnamon or star anise, just slightly flavored broth. Bland chicken and noodles were a too soft ,almost mush. Bland egg roll, way too thick- not light and crispy with a flavorless dipping sauce. Really wanted to like this place. Should've just went to culvers (and I only like their custard). read more

This little establishment was a hidden gem that I didn't have any expectations for but came away very surprised. I had the chicken lo mein while my wife had the sugar cane shrimp with vermicelli noodles. Both dishes had great flavor and a good size to them for truly a great price. My dish was under $8 while the sugar cane shrimp was under $10. Again they are very fairly priced. The bubble tea is always a favorite of mine, but go with the coconut you will not be disappointed. After all was said and done we have already ordered twice from them since then, and they deliver as well!! read more

My first visit. Ordered Pad Thai and fried Vietnamese egg rolls. I tend to be a no holds barred kind of reviewer. Given some of the reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect. Color me pleasantly surprised! The egg roll was crispy served with that yummy sweet sauce and the Pad Thai was flavorful, well balanced and just a hint of heat. The portion size was more than I can eat in a sitting. I will go back and try the Pho which I've never had anywhere. Friendly and well kept. I like this place more every time I go! read more

This is pretty bad and I feel bad for giving it 2 stars yet I wouldn't want any true pho fans to expect a decent bowl of pho from here. It's not authentic, the meat is not properly prepped, and you'd have to tweak the broth just to get it at least somewhat decent. Here's one example, Vietnamese pho uses shredded chicken for most of their dishes. This place uses chicken slices you get from a Chinese stir fry. Maybe it's because the owner uses the same materials as his other restaurant which is Chinese. Oh and the banh mi is supposed to be on French bread and lightly toasted not just slapped on. I hope this business changes and I'll be more than happy to change my review... We need a good Vietnamese restaurant here in Kenosha! read more

First visit it's a small family owned location but food was good. Menu is limited and has more Chinese entrees than Vietnamese. We ordered fresh egg rolls, grilled chicken bun and house pho. We stopby here after shopping at the outlet mall... we tried their chicken curry with rice & fried tofu pho... i never tried pho with tofu before... tofu was crispy and cooked well... it was a friday night... they werent busy at all... we were the only table they had... i saw 4 people came in to place their togo orders... we also ordered fresh spring rolls. They were pre-made.... spring rolls came out 10seconds after we ordered.... spring roll was cold..... What else can i think of.....? Hm...... you have to order and pay at the counter first before you are seated in the table.... that was a bit weird... we didnt know how much to tip this girl who took our order because we usually tip the servers based on their service(i dont tip server 18% everywhere i eat. Went there on Monday afternoon for lunch. Was surprised to find the place pretty empty. It was my very first time EVER trying Vietnamese food. I got the Bun with grilled chicken. It was a good size serving, and smelled AMAZING. I almost went back to Saigon Cafe the next day again for lunch. I also got a Mango Tapioca Freeze, and it was really good, but didn't seem to have a strong mango flavor, to me at least...That is the only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 Stars. I usually don't write reviews, but after eating here I had to. My mother is from Vietnam, so you could say I am a critic of the food. However, I understand the difference between home cooking and restaurant style. I was so excited to try this place, for a quick fix when I did not feel like cooking myself. I brought a group of ten people on a Sunday around 5pm, it was so empty you would think they would have been happy to see us. Instead, the young blond behind the counter had a terrible attitude from the start. We felt as though we were interrupting her reading time, to put our order in. She argued with my friend over how to order certain items, then proceeded to do the same to me. Service with a smile, was FAR from what we received, and we are a happy and fun bunch of people. I do have to say, the server lightened up a bit once she began serving our food, and probably realized I was not going to tip up front. Aside from yelling at my kids because she did not hear them ask for chopsticks, when we all said bring chopsticks for everyone a few times. I did leave a nice tip, but that is only because I was a server for many years, and the kids made a pretty messy table. Now for the food, this is the main reason for my review, PLEASE DO NOT JUDGE VIETNAMESE FOOD BY THIS PLACE! The PHO, pronounced FUH or even FA, but not FOE, to the server... was pretty tasty, but there were about 5 slices of random meat in my Deluxe Bowl, not good, portion wise. Also, according to the aftermath of this dinner, I am sure the broth was loaded with MSG. The Spring rolls were probably the best thing, and yes they were very delicious. The iced Vietnamese coffee was spot on. Lastly, I got a few Banh Mi (subs) to go. After eating mine, I had to share this review. This Banh Mi was disgusting. The bread was far from a fresh Baguette, the random slices of meat did not blend well, I think there was honey ham somewhere in there, and the meat spread they used tasted like a mix of dog food and canned tune (maybe it was cat food?). I could do this sub better at home with spam and potted meat. It was seriously terrible. My suggestion to this place would be to make sure your sub ingredients are fresh, you are misrepresenting the great food of Vietnam. add some meat to your pho, and drop the MSG, and teach your blonde server some people skills. A first impression is a lasting impression. I will not be coming back for poor service and third rate Vietnamese food. read more

I am a HUGE sushi lover!! This was the first time I tried this joint and was greatly surprised...lets face it not all sushi places are equal. Some either get it or they dont. I ordered take out after finishing up my night class so it was almost their closing time. I called and made my order, the lady on the phone was very nice and gave me helpful answers to my sushi roll questions. I ordered 3 rolls which included the shrimp tempura, California, and rainbow (maybe...I have forgotten already) it had salmon on top. They were made fast and by the time I arrived, about 15 minutes they were ready. I went home and had a lovely feast because they were super delish!! I would certainly order from here again. Strike One.. I have anticipated the opening of Saigon Cafe for some time, as Vietnamese food is one of my favs. I found their menu posted online and today I called in an order. I requested 2 orders of Spring Rolls, but received Egg Rolls, the Grilled Pork Chop Vermicelli and some coconut juice. The food was not particularly special or different.. The sweet and sour sauce was watery and not very sweet or sour. The menu is not extensive but there are some other things that seem worth trying.. we'll see. read more

Solid Asian restaurant in Kenosha. Some things on the menu are better than others. I love the egg drop soup and the garlic shrimp. I often get it with tofu mixed in for the extra protein kick. They are nice and accommodating of that request, making my favorite modified entree perfect every time. I also greatly enjoyed their coconut bubble tea. Can't wait to try the others. I have been back many times over and over I always crave the beef sandwich and anything with that beef I dont know what the marinade is they use but im completely drooling just thinking about it. Completely unauthentic, and expensive "pho". I am half Vietnamese and I make better pho than what is being served at this place. I have never had to add so much hoisin sauce and sriracha sauce, and that didn't even do the soup justice. Only 5 slices of beef brisket and a little bit of noodles($7.99 for this???). The broth, honestly just seems like brown water, lacked every spice that makes pho authentic. We are never returning again. read more

Full disclosure... I know nothing about Vietnamese food and this was my first experience. I had the soup (name escapes me), but it had noodles and sprouts and served with lime, basil and jalapeno on the side. I had the chicken in it. The flavor was very crisp and robust. I've never had anything like it. The serving size was extremely generous. Service was good, prompt and polite. Restaurant was clean with comfortable seating. I had to use the ladies room and it was clean. I am so happy that I expanded my pallet and tried Saigon Cafe. I will certainly be back. read more

I've eaten at Saigon Cafe four times now and I loved it each and every time. The Pho is delicious and comes in several varieties. It isn't too "Americanized" but it isn't too authentic either. I mean that in a good way, of course. I've seen places where the Pho was served with tripe and kidney and other organ meat and while that may be more authentic in some respects, it would NOT be accepted here in Kenosha. They struck the perfect balance of maintaining the authentic flavor of the dish while still using top-notch ingredients that less adventurous diners will accept and love. The restaurant itself is clean, classy and the service is speedy and professional. The only drawback is that they only accept cash as payment but this nuisance is mitigated somewhat by the fact that there is an ATM on premises. The menu is somewhat limited, but they have stuck with what they do best and I respect that. Either myself or my friends have tried everything on the menu and it is all very good, and perhaps equally importantly it is consistent in quality. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try. Keep an open mind and I'm sure you will leave happy and wanting more. read more
