On April 30th, I celebrated National Boba Tea Day at GoGo Ice. The reason I chose this restaurant was because they offer affordable drinks and the delicious texture of the boba tea. The drink is consisted slushy ice instead of just ice cubes. So, every drop of this cup can be consumed at once, without any waste. The sweetness can be adjusted to zero sugar and still taste great. The boba, aka tapioca balls, are phenomenal. It's included in the drink price $5.00, tax included. Where can you find a boba tea at this price in Houston Chinatown? The employees are always friendly and helpful. They are bilingual in English and Spanish. I could even find Mexican candies on the shelves. Just look at the menu and order by the number. Came for my red bean boba and mango boba on a weekday afternoon. There were a few patrons waiting for their drinks. Despite the wait, I got mine in less than 10 minutes. Each drink with boba was $5 and they use fresh fruits instead of powder. Friendly staffs and they got some Mexican candies by the register. Also there is a loyalty card for buy 8 get 1 free drink. I was cleaning out my desk and saw the punch card so I decided to drop by since I haven't been here in a while. I have to say the place is very quiet with no customers. I went ahead and ordered 3 drinks since I remembered it was good and cheap. My total came out to be $18.50! I remembered each drink used to be around $4 or so and even with inflation the price is almost as much as other tea place. It still taste good but for the price I would go somewhere closer to me. It. Was. Ok. Heard about this spot on a FB group Chinatown group. And there was a whole lot of hype. Stopped in and it wasn't what I expected. When I first walked in, there was a strong smell of what I believe was durian. It was overwhelming. And I like durian. There were 3 guys in front of me so I had a little time to check out the menu. I ordered the passion fruit tea (this was recommended on fb) and the lychee + strawberry fruit tea. There was only one worker. Apparently there were no strawberries for the 2nd drink and she asked if I'd take mango to which I said YES. When my drinks were ready, I was a bit confused because they literally looked identical. I asked which one was the passion fruit and she pointed it out. I'm sorry but both drinks didn't taste very yummy. The passion fruit tea was more tea than passion fruit. And the lychee drink didn't have any mango. So why did she even ask? I'll be honest, I got home and tried to fix it but couldn't. I drank some of the passion fruit and poured out the majority (almost all) of the lychee. I did notice there were pitchers of what looked to be store bought tea. Gogo Ice is one of those places that aren't super flashy, aren't "Instagram worthy", and you pass by it all the time without stopping in. Well due to the Houston heat and humidity, I decided to stop by and get a nice cold refreshment and I'm so glad I did. Boba tea shops are a dime a dozen, but this one! I'd make way to go out to! Every time I've gone and tried either a tea or a smoothie it always has had that distinct freshness, perhaps because they actually grind up fruits freshly right behind the counter. I ended up getting a passion fruit tea lychee with tapioca, while my parents got a fresh mango smoothie also with tapioca. Both were really good! I'd have to recommend a fresh fruit type of drink though next time I go. The tapioca itself is also very tasty and not too mushy, sweetened as well making it all the more refreshing. if you're looking for nice desserts, on a dime, this is going to be your spot. With a huge selection of fresh fruits to blend into smoothies, you can get anything from milkshakes, the fruit blends to juices here, usually less than six dollars. The service is about as nice as you can expect for the area, and it would really help if you knew Spanish. The business is cash, or Zelle, which is interesting. Interior ambience is also fine for the area. I also really like that this place will open up until about 10 PM, which makes it really nice to chat and hang out with friends at after a late dinner. This is my brother's go to for his weekly tapioca and one of my favorite places for Thai tea tapioca. I have not tried their ice desserts so this review is mainly on the tapioca and service. Tapioca: 4.5 stars The have the typical vast variety of options just like other tapioca stores. My favorite are their Thai and Milk tea because of their strong tea flavor and even when I ask for no ice they don't decrease the volume like at other stores. What is unique about Gogo is that they are one of two stores that started to sell the split cup for $5 which allows you to pick two flavors instead of one. Even with the divide its still the same amount of liquid but you should ask for no ice because the divide makes it very easy for them to add too much. This is also true for tapioca. Service: 5 stars What I love about Gogo is that they have one of the cheapest price for a good quality and quantity. My brother's weekly regular mango tapioca is $3.25 which is a good price because at other stores the cup is a large and it would normally sell for $4 or more. What's unique about Gogo is that the staff can speak multiple languages such as Spanish, Cantonese, Vietnamese, and Chinese which makes it feel more inclusive then other tapioca stores that only speak English and one Asian language. The workers are very efficient so you get your tapioca right away and they're always polite and serve with a smile. read more

You can't beat the price and quality! For more adventurous folks, they have a menu of flavors that sound heavenly together. You can also mix and match flavors to your liking, as well as change the form of your drink (get it into a smoothie versus as a drink). Inside, there's lots of tables to sit at. Why?? So after dinner in Chinatown, my kids wanted smoothies. Our go-to place is Honeybee for smoothies nearby. However, ever since they opened the restaurant next door to Honeybee, there is never parking. So after doing a quick browse, Gogo Ice showed up with good reviews. SO disappointing. My son is not a very picky drinker but he did not like his strawberry smoothie. It was very sweet with an artificial taste to it. My friend's kids also ordered smoothie, half sweet... and she said they were very sweet as well. My hubs go-to drink is peach tea with aloe and grass jelly. Not good at all. My other friend and father ordered mangonada which turned out to be sour. My other friend ordered the shaved ice, where you can 4 toppings of your choice. I used to love stopping by Gogo Ice to get my boba fix back in college. They used to make all their smoothies with fresh fruit and the prices were unbeatable. I recently stopped by in over a year and I noticed the quality has decreased a lot unfortunately and they also increased the prices. The store it self seems really unsanitary and had a bad smell. The employee making my drink wasn't wearing gloves and touched the fruit with her bare hands after touching her phone/the cash register. Didn't feel very sanitary. The person after me loudly complained about her order. I noticed they forgot to put tapioca in my strawberry smoothie but they fixed that when it was pointed out before they sealed the container. I think they were just rattled by the previous lady but man, it makes you wonder whether it was a hiccup that day or they are consistently absent minded. It was fairly busy. They didn't take cc. The shaved ice was $3 for small with 4 non fruit options. That and no extra charge for cream is a pretty good deal. Their green apple had a strange flavor, but not in a bad way. Their boba was sweet and soft. My sister said their fresh fruit pineapple juice was very tasty as well. However, their milk tea tasted like old tea water. There was no creaminess or flavor. I can not praise a place that has shoddy milk tea. I really love this place for their prices and overall drinks. They make really good fruit smoothies with boba and are one of the few boba spots that make their drinks from freshly ground up fruits. However, on our recent visit here a week ago, I came back to find the store with price increases on every drink and the environment a little dirtier. Although the smoothies taste roughly the same as before, the boba don't taste quite as good. The music playing was also overly loud and made it hard to enjoy our drinks at Gogo. The price for a normal smoothie/tea with tapioca is 3.50 (it comes with the drink). My girlfriend and I came to this location when it opened (around 10:15 AM) and we ordered two drinks. The person behind the register seemed upset at us for even showing up. We ordered two drinks, and paid up. Halfway through making the drinks, she tells us that there is no tapioca and if we want it, we'd have to wait 30 minutes. If she had told me earlier, or when we were purchasing our drinks, I would have wanted a refund. Was kind of upset about the whole ordeal and the smoothie (strawberry and lemon) was just average. I'm hoping this was just a one-time deal (since I've been here before, and they do good drinks) hence the three star rating. Very good option amongst heavy competition in the area. Though Gogo Ice may be lacking in atmosphere and modernity, I think it makes a name for itself with its quality. The place looks a bit old-fashioned and seedy, but they always use fresh fruits to make all their drinks--they literally blend up the fruit right before handing it to you! I'm disappointed in this place, i always go here for their durian avocado smoothie because they use fresh ingredients and their price was good, so i ignored the shabby interior and never stayed very long. but they increased their prices and pretended that it was the same price this entire time. Come on, i come once a week and get the same thing! I called them out on it and they told me it was because of the fresh ingredients....but that's nothing new...if they made improvements to the store then I don't blame them for increasing the price. Obviously the actual place isn't as clean or furnished beautifully, but if you can disregard that and focus on the actual products, it's definitely worth a shot. I love that they use real fruit unless asked otherwise, that being said they are the only place I know of that make fresh taro drinks, using REAL taro not syrup or powder. I use to come here when the owners ran their own shop but since have hired a small staff and there's one lady that takes orders and helps make drinks. I do wish they could accept card, but until then, make sure you have cash on you if visiting. The place could also use some cleaning but the drinks are worth the visit! So we tried this place, but it was a bit of a miss. The restaurant was kind of dirty when we got there. We ordered some bubble tea and some shaved ice. The shaved ice was a bit of a melted mess... The liquid sugar syrup was a little too much like molasses. The shaved ice bits were too big while still managing to immediately melt. I got the durian shake, which was okay.
