When looking for a new place to eat pho I came across Saigon City! It's very local to me and I figured I would try it out. The other pho place I frequented was in Mishawaka and it was really quite the drive for us and I couldn't justify it anymore. We pass this place every year during our blueberry picking and finally decided to stop this time. It looks small from the outside, but it's spacious inside. Parking could be tricky when busy, but we managed. Our waiter was incredibly nice to my toddler, friendly and accommodating. We ordered beef pho and BBQ pork. We initially asked for extra noodles, but the waiter suggested the portions were already generous. He was right--we barely finished our meals! If you're traveling from Illinois or Michigan, this place is a fantastic food pit stop. The food is excellent, and the service is really good. I asked the server if a particular dish was spicy and whether it contained a specific ingredient, but the server didn't know the answer. The pho here is really delicious. The broth packs a punch of flavors. The papaya salad is also really good. I've never had it before trying here, but I would definitely order it again. It's a light and refreshing flavor. We went on a Friday night so it was pretty busy. The only issue I really had when going here is that the server seemed annoyed when I was asking questions. I had to ask about certain food items due to having a food intolerance. I would come back, but I don't think I'd come on a busy night due to needing to ask more. The restaurant is nice inside though. During a restaurant search on Yelp-I came upon this restaurant for Vietnamese food. We are visiting from Los Angeles, California. My family decided to come here for lunch. It is run by a Vietnamese family. We ordered a variety of food to eat. The fried dumplings are nice and crispy and come with a delicious sweet and sour dipping sauce. There are about five to an order. Highly recommend this for the kids to eat too. I ordered beef pho. They give you an abundance of rice noodle. The soup is delicious and the beef meatball and beef slices are tasty. They come with mint leaf, bean sprouts, jalapeño and lime as side condiments. There was so much leftover I took the noodles and soup home. My husband ordered the house special meal which is a variety of beef, chicken, and shrimp with vegetables. It comes with rice in a gravy sauce and is very flavorful to eat. The portion size is great for leftovers or to share among two or more people. We also ordered chicken chow mein. It was another huge plate, aromatic, spicy due to the pepper. I ordered Vietnamese coffee. It is iced and prepared in condensed milk. It was the first time having non bitter Vietnamese coffee. Not too strong and tasted very good. The portion size was generous too. I even asked for a sealed lid for to go. Overall-this is a diamond in the rough and highly recommend this place to eat if your headed towards Michigan City, Indiana off the I-22. The wife and I stopped in the other day passing thru Michigan City. We had the papaya salad and the beef pho. Note that Mrs. Rick is Asian, so we have a pretty good idea of what good Asian food it. Both the salad and the pho were made from very fresh ingredients. It seems as if they came right out of the garden a few minutes earlier. Which they might have, as we saw a small veggie garden around the side walking from the parking lot. The papaya salad was a bit underseasoned, but for American tastes it was good. We hit it with a bit of fish sauce and that made it much better. The pho was well balanced between ingredients and broth, and didn't cheat like some places do. The sides to add in were much larger portions than most places so no skimping there also. The pho itself was pretty good, and the meat was tender. The broth was a bit lighter than I prefer but that is an individual taste. There was enough that we took some home and had a meal the next day. We are glad we stopped. read more

Finally tried this place after driving by countless times. Ethnic restaurants such as this are judged by the classic dishes, so in this case it is the Pho. It wasn't bad. I've had worse, but I also have had better. The broth was average and somewhat lacking in beef flavor but yet fragrant, perhaps a quick pho recipe. Garnishes included real Thai basil. Also had the pork fried rice which was okay but a bit too much white pepper. The chicken pad Thai was terrible and desperately needs a recipe overhaul. Small round noodles, not flat, hardly any pad Thai sauce and hence no flavor. No ground peanuts, no carrots, no bean sprouts, all fairly typical garnishes.
