I wrote the initial yelp review on this place back in September and I had a lot of complaints. Went back today and I was pleased to see that the growing pains demonstrated back in September have worked out for the positive. My Son and I were there Sunday early afternoon to celebrate the US Men winning olympic gold in hockey earlier that morning and had an excellent experience. The food and service was EXCELLENT. We throughly enjoyed the experience. It's been 6 months since our last visit, it won't be nearly that long before we return. We had a great time. My only negative comment, the appetizer/ sauce bar that I was critical of in September hasn't changed . Management really needs to change that set up. It's just not hygienic, when you lean over the get a plate or bowl stored under that bar, your face is inches away from the unprotected buckets of sauce, it's not a good set up and needs to be changed. It's not like fixing this set up would cost a lot of money to fix and it really should be changed immediately. read more

My husband and I decided to give Saigon Hot Pot a try after continually driving by here. We came in on a Sunday night and they were definitely understaffed and probably busier than they expected to be. We have done hot pot and Korean BBQ before so we knew the deal. If you never have done it, I'd say a quick google will help you out prior to arrival. We did both BBQ and Hot Pot which was only $5 more for the combo and felt totally worth it. I loved the healthy herbs base for hot pot. We tried a huge variety, the bulgogi was our favorite and we loved the sauce bar. Definitely worth a visit if you want to experience dinner vs just eating it. read more

Me and my mom went to this place yesterday and we hated it. The food, service, and ambiance were horrible, my mom ordered pad Thai with chicken and the chicken tasted old. They also ran out of almost everything, we ordered beef teriyaki and they were sold out of it also enoki mushrooms and peanuts were sold out and there was only one other person in the whole restaurant. I got hotpot and our waiter barely explained when the food is ready horrible service so my gyoza was dry cause I had no idea when to take my food out. The floors were sticky. It was also really expensive and they charged us for 2 hotpot's when we only got one. The only good meat that we got was the chicken wing from the appetizer table. I really liked the rice cakes though. Also since we couldn't get beef teriyaki we got chicken teriyaki and it was HORRIBLE. It was so salty and they fried it!?!?Anyways I wouldn't come back here ever and I hope they can improve read more

This is a mixed review of the Hot Pot and Korean food at Saigon Pot in North Kingstown. The variety and quantity of the food were very good, and the experience and service were excellent, despite being understaffed. Patience was a virtue here. The quality of the food was mixed. The customizable broth mixtures were amazing, and you can mix and match meats, fresh vegetables, and seafood to suit your preferences. The Kimchi was not fresh, and its spiciness was disappointing. It also appeared that the Kimchi had been unattended all day at the appetizer table. The sesame oil lacked the expected nutty flavor. The fresh mixed vegetables, fish, and meats were enjoyable. The spicy bulgogi lacked the hoped-for heat. The addition of habanero peppers to the appetizer table, rather than just jalapeno peppers, would have been welcomed. read more

This is one of those places where you go for the experience, not the ambiance (or appetizers). We only did the hot pot this first visit. We each ordered a different type of broth & all 3 of us enjoyed our choices. The meat, seafood, tofu & veggie selections were all delicious & fresh. Service was good!! We had a great time & all want to return to try the Korean bbq. That being said, I would be careful with the appetizer choices. We avoided the crab legs & the cray fish (I think that's what they were?). The French fries were decent, the veggie spring rolls were ok, my husband tried the seaweed salad & my son tried the chicken. Both were fine. Nothing special. The interior design has much to be desired, but like I mentioned already, we weren't there for the decor. read more

I visited this establishment last night to give it a try. At first impression, the interior looked inviting with the recent renovations creating a nice atmosphere. However, it did take some time before our waitress came over to take our drink order. I think they are a bit understaffed since they opened and it does look like they still may be hiring. The menu is divided into two options: Korean BBQ or Hot Pot. I think it would be helpful if the menu included clearer instructions on how the ordering system works, as it wasn't explained until I asked. We chose the Hot Pot, but unfortunately, the experience was a bit underwhelming. Although I did like the meat options and how well the hot pot cooked, the broth I ordered lacked flavor. My son and I had lunch there today and our server was Srey. It was honestly some of the best Asian food I have ever had and the experience of making it ourselves was so cool. This is the type of restaurant that should be showcased by " Buns and Bites" or similar local influencers. The food was fresh and delicious, Srey had such a great energy with all of the customers, and I will honestly o again. Not bad hot pot place. The booths are set up for four with built-in individual heaters for hot pots and a central grill for Korean barbecue; you can do one or the other or even both! (Though what do you do if you're a party of 5, I don't know ... guess someone eats by himself!). The broth choices are pretty good and if you're vegetarian, they'll make one up for you that's also quite tasty. You select items from an à la carte menu - 2 meats, 2 sides, 2 seafoods, 2 soy/tofu, 2 starches, and 3 veggies - and then can reorder as many more items as you wish (but there's a 2-hour limit) for your table. The hot pot items are okay; we found some of the vegetables a little less than fresh (e.g. limp Napa cabbage) and some of the meats a little tough (beef tongue was sliced too thick), but there were some tasty items like the lobster balls. The condiment table was a bit limited in sauce types - definitely missed the goma dare sesame sauce - and the soy sauce had a strange sweetness to it. Appetizers were fried egg rolls, chicken wings, fried wontons, French fries (kinda strange option to me) - and steamed blue crabs! Again, not a bad hot pot place but there are better ones out there for the money. read more

Diego, Isa and I tried out this new place near our home. Service was friendly but a bit delayed. I think they are a bit understaffed. We order hot pot and the food was mediocre. Each person has their own "hot stew" from a few options...it's Asian fusion as the options appear to be Szechuan, TomYum and others. Service initially was good then as the evening progressed it slowed due more people coming in. We may go back to tried the Korean barbecue. The Hot pot was underwhelming. Unfortunately we had a bad experience trying out this restaurant. To keep it short, the food was kind of average, service was slow and the waitress was argumentative. To make matters worse they tried to charge us for two extra people. It was clear the work environment was hostile as they argued with us as customers and each other. Like the concept but the food is so gross. Service was awful although the young man serving was apologetic and nice. The other guy there couldn't care less. After talking to a friend about it, heard it had health inspection issues and confirmed it on RI Health dept. website. We went in as a group of 6 at 3 PM on a Friday. There were no other parties there, first red flag. We were told we all had to order off of the same menu. So we could not even order the hot pot menu due to allergies red flag 2. We all ordered after being told that a lot of the items we wanted were not available because the kitchen was out red flag 3. The service was slow, and no o e seemed to k ow what was going on. Eventually we get our food, and every order was pretty gross, it was the wettest stir-fry menu I have ever experienced. Everyone ate some of their food, no one finished and no one wanted to take to go. we paid our bill, left a 22% tip ($30 on a $136 bill) come to find out they added $9 after we left and the credit card statement was $175.63. these people are obviously criminals who do not know how to run a restaurant. Avoid at all costs. The lobster rangoons were ok. read more

I was excited to try this, but left every underwhelmed (and a bit leery). Our server was an angel, so full marks there. The ordering options were a bit clunky and unclear. I recommend adding a "how it works" section to the menu. As for the food, the broth was fine, a bit bland. Meats and veggies were generally good, but the pork belly was disappointing and tasteless. My biggest qualm is the condiment station, which is wide open and not temperature controlled from what I could tell- I had serious concerns about the hygiene there. I appreciate that they are paperless, but would have liked to have seen a breakdown. We ordered a adult hotpot, kid hotpot, a la carte fried rice, crab rangoons, and three sodas which totalled $105. The price was rather staggering and we were expecting it to be closer to $65. I would love to see them succeed because the staff was so kind and I love having diverse food options in the area, but I would need to see improvements before returning or recommending to friends. read more

This place is more than a restaurant, it's an experience that's fun and delicious and really great shared with friends. A bunch of us went to celebrate a friend's Birthday and had a great time. Sray, our server walked us through the whole process and I'm glad we listened because she was spot on about how to order. Once the food started arriving (it comes on lots of little plates and if you order too much at once, there'd be no room on the table, until you eat some, but you can order as fast as you want afterwards and it comes out quickly). Sray also helped us with the temperature controls and gave us great tips to enjoy our meal. The food was delicious and there were so many different kinds of meats sliced thin and tender and different vegetables to choose from. We really enjoyed picking and choosing things together and deciding what we liked best. It's nice the town has something new and unique instead of the same old style. We had plenty of hot pot places and decided to try bc it was a new place. Broth tasted the same. We understand it's an ayce but when the meats came out this was our first order the portions was enough for 1 person and we had to keep asking and order more and felt like they were trying to portion control. It was a bit delayed and staff was slow and understaffed but friendly. Just make sure the portions enough for everyone so we don't have to keep asking non stop. read more
