This Vietnamese restaurant caught my eye, and I finally had the perfect opportunity to try it... Saigon Hustle offers a Viet fusion menu ranging from rice bowls to wings to banh mi. I was surprised to see a traditional offering: nem nuong, in their Hustler Special Banh Mi, so of course I had to order it. I parked and walked in, intending to eat inside. My first mistake was assuming the restaurant had indoor seating. Incase you were wondering... it does not lol. What you see is what you get. The patio seating is the only seating available, which can be grueling on a hot day, so I opted to take my food back to my car. I highly recommend utilizing the drive thru, rather than walking inside and then walking back to your car lol. Food-wise, I was surprised. I got a little nervous seeing some of the reviews on Yelp, but I loved my banh mi. It was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. My banh mi was stuffed and everything tasted super fresh. The only thing I'd change is the meat to veggie ratio considering the prices are a little higher here than typical of other banh mi places. Otherwise, that was a solid banh mi. I am extremely disappointed with my experience ordering catering from Saigon Hustle. I initially submitted a request for a quote late Friday and received no response. On Monday morning, I called and was told my order for Tuesday could be accommodated and that I would receive a quote within 15 minutes. After waiting several hours with no quote, I had to follow up myself. About an hour later, I finally began receiving quote options via email, and after additional back-and-forth, we eventually finalized the order. Unfortunately, the poor communication did not end there. The delivery was scheduled for 11:30a and as I write this review, it is after 12:25p and the food still has not arrived. I have been told the issue is with the driver, but from my perspective, this order has been plagued by delays and a lack of follow through from the very beginning. This was a catered lunch for a work event, where timing matters. I even included a $40 tip in advance, yet the service I have received has been completely unacceptable. Between the lack of response to my initial quote request, the delays in receiving the proposal, and now a delivery that is nearly an hour late, this experience has been incredibly frustrating and I WOULD NOT USE NOR RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT going forward. I expected significantly better communication, coordination, and customer service throughout this process. This is completely unacceptable!!! read more

Two foodies from Houston We are exploring a new place that we saw on Eat Like a Local show back in November. The location is small and what appears to be part shipping container. Customers order their food inside. However, they only have outdoor seating that is clean. Which is a great stability and use of space. Where can you purchase a banh mi after 9pm on this side of the loop? Saigon Hustle! Although the prices are a bit higher than I'd prefer for the sandwich, it's worth it for the right sandwich, right? In this case, I hope I received a one off sandwich, because my sandwich was off. The meat didn't feel fresh, the bread needed improvement, and even the sweetness of the BBQ ribeye could not offset strength of the acidity. On the plus side, the cucumber was crisp, and fresh, and the jalapeños were spicy! To this day, I do not know if this location has an inside, but that being said, I do appreciate the customer service, and the convenience of the drive thru. I ordered the chicken wings and they were decent, the flavor was okay and they were crispy. I also had the tofu tots but those were not my vibe at all. I was expecting crispy fried tofu and instead I got some soggy breaded tofu drenched in sauce at the bottom, not good. My coworkers both enjoyed their ribeye spring rolls. I tried one too and they were good, the ribeye had a nice flavor. Similar levels of services provided here compared with those from the Spring Branch location - same delicious Banh Mi. However, I don't recommend the Chicken Pho which greatly disappointed me. The usual Vietnamese noodle soup uses Asian chicken of which the skin is yellow and the choppedd meat is flavorful and juicy. I am disheartened to make this review but I am so frustrated with my last five or so experiences. I loved Saigon Hustle and have been a regular customer since they opened and always order a variety of items. It was always quick, convenient but consistent. However, I've noticed a significant downturn with food quality and consistency with in the past year. Simple orders without substitution or modifications are almost always incorrect or missing something now, example: banh mi without cucumbers or carrots? No sauce for my vermicelli? Shrimp and pork spring rolls with no pork? Worst repeat offense was ordering a banh mi without pate (my least favorite thing) and it of course having pate or like they started making it with it but then remembered it's without and they tried to wipe it off!? So gross. My dislike is so strong that the lingering texture/flavor deems the sandwich inedible. I've also received vegetable egg rolls instead of regular on multiple occasions and served completely inedible overcooked meat. What is going on???? It used to be our go-to spot for a busy night but now it's not work the disappointment. read more

This time I was craving a good Bánh Mì and decided to try the pork option through Uber Eats, especially since they had a buy-one-get-one-free offer. Unfortunately, this experience missed the mark for me. The bread was extremely hard, making it difficult to enjoy, and the balance of toppings felt off -- lots of fresh jalapeños but very little of the pickled vegetables that usually bring a Bánh Mì to life. The fried spring roll was the same as before, bland. Now to this vinaigrette - sorry but it needs to be redone. All I could taste was VINEGAR. I just ate the bowl plain and added some of my own nuoc nam. No one else I know has been so I will temp hold off on returning and try again later. I'm not giving up hope. I was all excited when this place opened. Then I heard some not-so-good reviews. So I stayed away. Then one day, my father came to visit me and he wanted something fast that wasn't Whataburger. As we drove across 34th, he saw this and requested we come here. And when your father makes a request, it's pretty much a you-better-do-what-I-say. So we found this to be fast casual Vietnamese food. You can get the typical spring rolls, egg rolls, vermicelli bowls, chicken wings, and banh mi sandwiches here. What makes them a bit different is how fast they prepare everything for you. Plus they have a drive thru so you can order like a regular American when on the road. There's hardly any seating and it's mostly outside so you better be prepared to get your stuff to-go. I guess they had this in mind when building (damn you COVID!). My favorite items are the chicken wings, salmon spring rolls, and the tofu vermicelli bowl. Wings are crispy, spring rolls are filling, and the bowls (either rice or vermiclli) are plentiful. The banh mi looks nice to that may be my next one to try. The lemongrass chicken one that is. I was able to place an online order for pickup, wait in the drive thru and receive my food in about 20 minutes. I got their chicken banh mi with an order with egg rolls. This legit. The chicken was not overly seasoned or swimming in their soy sauce, tender and delicious. They added copious amounts of meat, veggies (carrots and daikon), jalapeño slices, cilantro and cucumber.
