Most pho restaurants in California re now somewhere between $15-20 a bowl. I was almost shocked it was below that. I really enjoyed the Bun Bo Hue. It had really good flavor and had all the components I expect from it. I also liked how they gave us 4 egg rolls compared to the 3 I normally would get from other pho restaurants. Me and my husband don't go to dinner much because we have a toddler. However it was a special occasion so we chose this spot considering it was more laid back. The food itself was great. However the service we received was absolutely devastating. I can't think of a thing she got right. First, after ordering she brought out only my drink (my toddler who isn't even 2 yet is allergic to milk and I got a milk tea) so he did start to cry. Once the server came back to our table, I asked her if his drink could be brought out so that we could get him to calm down. She said, of course, and then came back with food and not his drink. About 10 more minutes went by before she finally brought his and my husbands drinks out which my Husband ordered a mango smoothie with no Boba of course it came with the Boba. And then when we explained to her that he specifically did not want the Boba in there, she tried to blame another coworker for putting it in there saying that it wasn't her fault. Then before my soup had come out, she informed me that she forgot to write a large portion down, so the kitchen only made a small, and then apparently the kitchen told her "that they did not feel like remaking it correctly because it was her mistake." and then asked me if that was OK if I just got the regular size. Since they don't have a kids menu, that's what me and my son were sharing and I also wanted to take food home for leftovers considering the small and large was only a dollar difference. Then she brought the food out without any spoons. There were no spoons on the table either. I had to flag down another server to get our spoons. Then there were a few times where I tried to call her over and she walked right past me like she didn't hear me. Another customer had to flag her down for me because it was noticeable and quite ridiculous. So we just asked for a check and the containers after being embarrassed by the way we were treated and my child who was not calming down we just decided to leave and take everything home. Which she then brought out small containers when we clearly had full large bowls of soup left. It was just one thing after another, so I asked to speak with management, which they absolutely handled the situation beautifully. I came here for a lunch time, it was full(not to many tables anyways) so i did takeout.. but after i did i noticed seats becoming empty i asked if i could stay instead. the server was nice she did it and allowed me to sit.. i have worked serving so i know the deal, i wanted to open the tab back up so i am able to tip her AND get served. but she never came back, i needed a few things as well.. but no one ever checked or looked my way. not till the very end i sat for a while because i took a call and the server came to ask me if i wanted more water, at the time i took the chance to ask for a box. Unfortunately, the cleaning habits are a consistent issue; they often use very harsh-smelling chemicals or mops that leave an unpleasant odor throughout the dining area while people are eating. They were friendly and accommodating with substitutes that we requested. I've been here several times over the last 5 years or so and I've always thought of it as a 4.0, maybe 4.5, but I was a little disappointed during my last visit. - the bbq chicken was OK, but too hard/chewy/dry. Sorry but it needs to be said - pretty unfriendly service, as usual. - stale sa tế (Vietnamese chili / oil condiment) on the table. I was so shocked by this , I was in denial at first .... I love this condiment and to me, it's an essential part of any Viet dining experience. My dining companion verified that it was indeed stale or at least was very "off" somehow. We drove in from San Jose and wasn't expecting such a drop in temperatures when we arrived. So of course we wanted something warm and comforting! It was just up the street from our hotel. The menu was vast but we stuck to our usual go-to (rare steak pho) and it didn't disappoint AT ALL!! The broth was amazing and there were plenty of noodles for a filling meal! My husband and I decided to try this place on the recommendation of a friend of ours who said their pho is the best in the County. We were so excited to try it, but we weren't exactly in the mood for pho, so we decided to try a range of dishes and save the pho for next time: stir fry egg noodle with chicken, grilled pork chop with rice and the combination the stir fry. The food itself was okay, not great by our standards, but just okay. We both felt like we should have ordered what they are known for. The next day unfortunately, we both came down with nausea, along with some other unpleasant symptoms, and I had a pretty severe migraine.
