I've been to a lot of Vietnamese spots. Like...a lot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]But Saigon Sandwich House? Easily one of the most gorgeous I've walked into. We're talking bright, floral, curated decor, and a sleek modern layout that makes you pause for a second like--wait, is this still a banh mi shop?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Oh, and it gets better. The other half of the space? A full-blown Vietnamese bakery and café. Croissants and cà phê sữa đá sharing a wall with grilled meats and pickled veggies. It's a wild, beautiful setup[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Naturally, I had to go classic. Grilled beef banh mi, let's go. I was ready to be blown away. I wanted to love this sandwich so badly. I really did. The presentation was clean. The bread had that golden crackle. But the beef? Tough. Chewy. Hard to get through, and not in the satisfying "rip and savor" kind of way--more like "why am I fighting this sandwich?" And the bread-to-meat ratio? Way off. Felt like I was eating a baguette with a grudge. Now, I'm not writing this place off--not even close. The space alone is worth a return trip, and the menu is deep enough to warrant a second round. But first impression? Let's just say it didn't hit like it could have. Here's hoping round two hits it out the park.

It was my birthday recently and my husband got me a fruit cake from here. He mentioned that he put the order in the day of (terrible manners in my opinion, he should've ordered this at least a few days in advance). But amazingly it was ready by the time he finished working out at the gym. Presentation is amazing and the taste rivals that of well known Chinatown bakeries. Soon Lowell will be THE food city!

Decided to try Saigon Sandwich house for a Banh Mi and it was pretty good! I ordered online thru pick up which was fairly easy and quick. It took about 15 minutes to get my three Banh Mis. I also ordered an ice Vietnamese coffee which was super strong and too sweet for me. One thing I liked was how they had another section for bakery goods with cakes and sweets! I need to check it out next time.

The location may be hard to find, but it's worth it! The restaurant is in the back of the building. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Its clean, welcoming interior made it difficult to choose between sitting indoors or outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The woman behind the counter offered help, which I needed in order to navigate the menu. The pictures next to the food also helped me decide. I ordered the vermicelli with beef which arrived quickly at my table. The egg rolls were crispy and flavorful. The vegetables were fresh and the beef had a delicious marinade. The sauce served on the side was clearly homemade and I felt like everything was healthy and fresh. The menu also offered soup and sandwiches. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were generous. I highly recommend finding this hidden gem!

Came early on a Monday morning only to realize the new bakery side didn't officially open until 11am on weekdays. That wasn't a problem though, as they still kindly let us order tea and have a seat. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We found a seat by an outlet, but this doesn't really seem like a place to work on a laptop since there weren't any other outlets.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I would definitely recommend more for catching up with a friend or enjoying a book like I did.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Around 11am, we migrated over to the sandwich side for an early lunch. I got the BBQ Pork Bahn Mi, which hit the spot. The bread was the perfect texture and the fillings were the classic combination of flavors. I would definitely come back!

This place is a complete rip-off. I paid $15 for a roasted pork sandwich that was quite small. The pork was fatty and covered with a heavy blob of mayonnaise and pickles, while the vegetables were sparse. I've had many Vietnamese sandwiches before, but at this price point in Lowell, the quality does not come close to what you find in the greater Boston area. The large Thai tea was nearly $10--more expensive than many drinks at Starbucks. The décor is pleasant, but the food quality and pricing are among the worst I've experienced in any major metropolitan area.

Lovely interior with good food! Egg rolls were scrumptious and had a crispy texture Quick and efficient with our orders

Overall a good spot for something quick. However, the pricing for the spring rolls is on the higher side ($11.95) although they're not skimpy with the portions. The nem cuon is nothing to grab about (wouldn't grab this again). The salted cold foam coffee was good. The banh mi is always consistently good and fresh. Love the amount of pate they put.

Have you tried their Bánh Mì ???? Soooo good! Go and try it you won't be disappointed.

    6" $72

This 6 inch strawberry cake cost $72. It was good, just okay though. I was hoping for different fruits not only strawberries.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is such a cute and cozy spot! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with beautiful decor that makes you want to stay a while.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their Vietnamese iced coffee is my favorite--strong, bold, and full of flavor. The boba drinks are delicious too, and the bánh mì is packed with flavor and the perfect crunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A great hidden gem for anyone craving authentic Vietnamese flavors in a relaxed setting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Every dish I've ever tried was flavorful, well-prepared, and clearly made with care. You can tell a lot of heart goes into the cooking here. On top of that, the staff is wonderful -- friendly and genuinely welcoming, which always makes us feel valued as guests. Unfortunately, I have to rate my current experience four out of five stars due to an issue that significantly impacted our meal. While we were eating, there were cockroaches crawling on the wall near us, which was extremely unsettling and completely tainted the experience. It made it very difficult to continue enjoying our food, despite how delicious it was. I say this with sincerity: if the restaurant can fully address the cleanliness concerns, including any cockroach or rodent issues, I truly believe this place can return to being a solid five-star restaurant. The food and the people are already there -- it just needs that final, crucial piece to match the quality of everything else.

It was also, apparently, less salty, presumably for the same reason. The amount of kimchi in the "sample" was so plentiful as to almost fill up the mini cup we used for takeout. They have a large selection of vegetarian and vegan food, as well as some gluten free items, though they lack the staff and kitchen size to accommodate celiacs, so it's really more of use for people on elimination diets or with poor digestive capabilities. The owner had prior training in Italian cuisine, which is the reason such food is on the menu, and while neither my father nor I had occasion to try it, it is apparently a passion of the chef's, and the shared discussion of their mutual interest in Italian cooking may be the reason my father was given a free "sample" of kimchi, which was larger than the paid order of kimchi at most other restaurants. The food portions, in general, are massive, with the leftovers of an order of wonton soup not fitting in a to-go canister, with other orders being similarly large. Their jasmine tea is unusual for its slight fruity flavor, and ability to "overbrew" without becoming bitter, instead maintaining its delicate flavor. Each table has condiments, which in addition to including the "normal" chili crisp, and fish sauce often found at Asian restaurants that provide table condiments, have the more western pepper grinder, as well as garlic salt. Curiously, there is no "normal" salt as often found at western restaurants, though bottles of sriracha are found at every table. Perhaps the garlic salt and sriracha are the restaurant's "unique twist"?

Still excellent, still sweet (though now more noticeably spicy too), and still important to remind that the dishes here are not necessarily attempting authentic cuisine of specific regions (even though specific dishes are named), but more of a freestyle approach. The wings have improved in recent visits. More plump, more crisp, more juice, more flavor. Still good value. Still a little weak on the service (more about being young, unfocused and lacking initiative than anything approaching rudeness). Still highly recommended.

I just wish the broths were boiling beforehand because the table heats up pretty slowly. Aside from that, they have a really nice hotpot combo for $23.50 during dinner time and you can pick one broth, one carb, one protein, and it comes with a vegetable bouquet, so I think it's pretty affordable as long as you don't order any extras. It's individual hotpot so you don't have to share pots and worry about sharing. The mala broth is superb and I think it's so flavorful because they use pho broth as the base. It does get sweeter as it boils down, but I guess I kind of prefer that over regular hotpot that gets saltier over time. They have a nice sauce bar with a good variety and even have pickled onions and jalapeños. If you're looking for a spicy and zesty sauce you can try my usual combo of: garlic, chili peppers, barbecue sauce, cilantro, scallions, red vinegar, and squeeze two slices of lime. The meat quality is not bad. They have meat combo platters as well if you want to order more meat on the side. I tried the blue jolly expecting it to taste sour like a blue jolly rancher, but it was more sweet and too strong for my liking. I tried the lychee green tea and it was not bad, a subtle taste of lychee. Aside from that the place is pretty big and they also have a separate bar room that you can eat in as well since this place was a tavern/club. Anyways I'm going again for the 3rd day in a row!
