Saigon Tokyo is a Vietnamese restaurant with a sushi bar. It is very packed, which is good for business. Full Viet menu and Japanese menu. Workers seemed busy, which is good. However, not that kind. Told me I could not have my own water and to put it away. I always bring my own water because i can not drink pipe water from restaurants. Also took a long time for service with little to no friendly words. Food came out hot and fresh. 4 stars for the food, 1 less star for the lack of friendliness while dining. Maybe their other dishes are better, but the pho was so disappointing. The noodles were very overcooked, mushy and broken up into tiny pieces. It also did not come with any of the traditional accompaniments at all (herbs, onions, sauces, pepper, lime etc). The broth was good but sesame oil was the dominant flavor and the vegetables were boiled in the broth, which are both not typical for pho. If this was sold as just a vegetable soup it would be acceptable maybe, but at almost $18 with an expectation of pho.. underwhelming to say the least :/ but the portion was decent so I'll give them that read more

Service. Ambiance. As a regular at this establishment I was very disappointed during my last visit. Which was twice in one week, bringing my family from out of town. Apparently the waitress remembered that we weren't charged for two beers at a prior visit and tacked it onto to this current bill. I was shocked. We came here last night for dinner and they were surprisingly quite busy. They had a line of people waiting to pick up their take out orders. Luckily we beat the crowd by a little bit, but they seemed to need more additional help. We weren't that hungry after a big lunch. We started with a fresh spring roll -- shrimp only -- and it was just okay. I prefer when the roll is tightly wrapped and this just fell apart into pieces when I bit into it. There were two rolls to the order so perfect to share. The peanut dipping sauce wasn't the best either. It was very thin and didn't have enough peanut flavor. I'd pass on this appetizer next time. Why the three stars then? The two sushi rolls we had were good. Nothing too taxing for the sushi chef, but still executed perfectly. We had their California roll and a shrimp tempura roll. Service was pleasant -- we were thanked for coming -- but a bit overwhelmed. The ambiance hasn't changed in over 10 years so nothing special here. I'm sure we will be back some time as it's convenient and parking is easy... but maybe we will try one of their other Vietnamese dishes. read more

From the beginning ...the ginger dressing tasted watery and seemed to be missing the ginger but one of the largest salad portions I've ever had as part of a lunch combo. The miso soup was great! The menu is a little hard to understand as far as what the lunch combos are so we had to ask our waitress to explain it. Great Japanese and Vietnamese fusion. I usually order their pho and sushi, but this time I ordered their shredded beef and pork! It was delicious. I ate it with my own concoction (siracha and hoisin sauce) instead of their fish sauce but that's just me. Mmmm so yummy. We also ordered a Saigon roll and volcano roll. Can't go wrong with a crunchy exterior for sushi (Saigon roll). Volcano roll is always good because of the warm salmon on top. Our waitress was sweet whenever she remembered to attend us but overall slow. Sunday night dinner. Ordered rolls, pho and bun. BIG must be the middle name of this place. The rolls were rolled so big, you could not eat them with your hands. The peanut sauce was very watered down. The bowl of pho was like an XL size. Overflowing with noodles, lots of meat! Soup was tasty. The bun dish had lots of sliced pork chop. Flavor was nice. The owner refused to re make a meal for me. And told me he doesn't care if I leave a review. I said then you don't care about your customers. Excellent sushi.. fresh fish and nice to go presentation. I loved the food. The staff just needs to be a little more engaged as the customer walks into the restaurant. I waited with a menu in hand for about 10 minutes before I was approached to give my order. But other than that, the experience was pretty nice at least the most important thing was the food quality ( fish) was great and overall restaurant presentation was adequate and clean. Our new Pho place since Saigon Pho changed owners. I had the grilled pork and rice dish w an added egg, and hubs had the grilled pork egg roll vermicelli. Portions were huge and flavorful! My dish came with lettuce, sliced tomatoes and cucumbers. My only complaint is that the food wasn't very hot. Sushi looked fresh and we will try it next time! read more

This is my top Vietnamese restaurant in all of Florida. it's family owned and the food is sure thing delicious everytime. I travel an hour from Ft. Lauderdale to order from this place all the time versus food local to my area ( including this weekend ) I even order it for family occasions and when I am going out of town. I'm always draggin someone in this place. one of my clients introduced me to it about 10 years ago and I have been a loyal follower ever since.
