I've never been to this location before, so my wife and I wanted to try them out, and when I tell you it was worth the price! I love sushi, so the fact that I'm able to try unlimited amounts of sushi to my heart's desire was happiness!!! Dragon roll, eel cucumber roll, California roll, hibachi steak and shrimp fried rice, vegetable tempura, caterpillar roll, fried cheesecake, cowboy roll, shrimp tempura along with eel sauce and spicy mayo!!! Each item I mentioned was fresh and flavorful! Our waitress, Vanessa, was super friendly and very informative in helping us with our decision. The reason why I am giving this experience a 4-star rating is the music level was really loud, which caused my wife and me to yell in order to converse with each other. At some point, we couldn't do that anymore. Other than that, it was well worth it. I really wanted to give a better review, but unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. We visited on a Saturday night, and the restaurant was very busy. My husband and I waited at the hostess stand to put our name in for a table. Just as it became our turn, the hostess walked away to seat a large party of about 15 people. When she returned, I told her we needed a table for two. She asked if I had already put my name on the list, and I explained that I had been trying to do that before she walked away. She then asked if we would like to sit at the bar. When I asked about the wait time for a table, she said it would be about 45 minutes, so we chose to sit at the bar instead. There were two bartenders working. We ordered drinks and reviewed the menu, but when we were ready to order food, we had to get one of the bartenders' attention ourselves. We ordered a Dragon Roll as an appetizer and the Hibachi Steak for dinner. We expected the roll to arrive before the rest of the meal, but instead we were served soup, then salad, and the Dragon Roll arrived right before the hibachi entrée. There was no pause between courses, so everything felt rushed. We ended up taking quite a bit of food home because it all came out at once. What disappointed us most was the service. The bartenders never checked on us during the meal to see if we needed anything or how our food was. They didn't seem particularly enthusiastic or engaged. I think we would have enjoyed our experience much more if we had been seated at a table with a dedicated server rather than being served at the bar. Great Sushi place in Wellington and they are packed during Spring Break. Put our name in the wait list, #19 in line. Went and stalked it a couple of seats at the bar and after 30 minutes we got to sit down. I had the Volcano Salad, one of my favorites. I also ordered Saba, Mackerel, Sushi. We had the absolute best time at Sushi Yama for a fun girls' dinner on one of their all-you-can-eat weekend nights--they host it every Saturday and Sunday, and we were definitely not disappointed! We went wild with classic favorites like rainbow rolls and crab rolls, tried some bold ones with steak on sushi (unexpectedly delicious!), and loaded up on all the fresh nigiri and sashimi options. Everything came out tasting super fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Must-tries: the mussels are straight-up addictive--so garlicky, buttery, and perfect! They only come with two per order, so if your whole group is doing all-you-can-eat, order extras right away (we kept going back for 4+ rounds). Perfect spot to go to if you love sushi and are VERY hungry. The menu is wide and varied, with all kinds of sushi's, appetizers, and hibachi dishes. I got the crab salad, double JB roll, and spicy tuna roll. The crab salad was light, refreshing, and flavorful; a nice way to start the meal. The double JB roll isn't your typical JB roll, so I was a little thrown off but it was still great! And the spicy tuna roll was a great classic to end on. Our waitress was nice and attentive. We had a great experience dining here. We came on a Friday evening and they were quite busy. There was a line of folks waiting to be seated. We lucked out and found two empty seats at the bar where we had dinner. There are two menus. One is the all you can eat and one is a la carte. We weren't that hungry, so we ordered a la carte. I started with the Kani salad. It was wonderful. I got the "not spicy" one. There were lots of crunchies on top of and mixed into the shredded crab and shredded cucumber. It was served over a bit of lettuce. The dressing was slightly sweet. The dish was very filling and could have been my dinner. After that, I had their shrimp tempura sushi roll. The fried shrimp were lightly battered along side of a nice chunk of avocado and pieces of cucumber. There were five large pieces to the order. My husband had a volcano salad to start. This was a combo of raw tuna, krab, and avocado on top of a seaweed salad. There were also masago fish eggs mixed into the spicy mayo dressing/sauce. After his salad, he had a salmon and avocado sushi roll. He said there was a very generous amount of fish and avocado in the roll. Prices for each of our food items were very reasonable. I think the most expensive item was his hot sake for $9.95. We had good service at the bar. We had nice conversations with everyone seated on either side of us and the staff. Worth ordering from the all you can eat menu, just pace yourself because excessive leftovers may be charged. We were a party of six and got there around 4pm on a Saturday and everything was made to order and came out quickly as it wasn't very busy yet, but even as it filled up with people, the food still came out pretty quickly-I think the amount of staff on hand helps with this. Everything was amazing, try at least two appetizers, hibachi meats, and at least one roll. Save yourself some room and skip the fried rice. I didn't personally have the fried cheesecake, but apparently it's light and fluffy, not like the typical dense cheesecake. We finally made it to Sushi Yama and it was an outstanding experience!! We walked in and were seated right away. You could tell a lot of details went into decorating this restaurant. Japanese art on the walls, lanterns, bamboo patterns, and Bonsai trees along the ceiling of the bar. The servers were kind and fast. And to top it all off, the food was delicious!!!! I have been here two times and both times 10/10. I assume my review for the first time didn't post. To sum it up shortly, got all you can eat lunch and loved the double j roll, cali roll! My son's 1st bday was coming up so the waiter offered to give him a scoop of ice cream.(So sweet) My second time was with family yesterday! Big table, served very well. Of course, had to get the double j roll! Hibachi was super yummy. Whatever sauce they put on the protein makes it 10x better. My daughter loves sushi and requested this new addition to the Wellington area for her birthday lunch. The service was great and our waiter was on top of the table throughout the dining experience. The location gives an open dining room feel but tastefully decorated making you feel like you are in a sushi spot, especially getting to see the sushi chefs at work! There is an all inclusive menu which if you opt in costs 35.00 per person....which wasn't bad given the number of rolls out table ordered and enjoyed. Even hibachi, fried rice and noodles are included so better to come here on an empty stomach to fully get your monies worth. We were visiting family that lives in the area and after church they said "let's eat sushi and we know a perfect place!" Back home in Jacksonville we go to a lot of sushi restaurants. Sushi Yama was the first place that we've been to that has an all you can eat menu for sushi and hibachi. I didn't get the all you can eat because I didn't think I could eat that much. Instead I ordered the Hibachi Chicken which came with soup and salad. I ended up taking half of it home. I also ordered a Dynamite Sushi Roll as well. Everything was delicious and tasted great. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. We had a large group at our table and the wait staff did a great job taking care of us. We also loved how they decorated the restaurant. It was all super clean as well as the restrooms. Next time we are in town we will definitely come back to Sushi Yama! As an added note: you must try the Double J Sushi Roll. Mom who is 80 years old really doesn't like sushi but she decided to order this one and she loved it. I had a piece to try and yes it was very good and tasty. I recommended Sushi Yama to my visiting family as everyone enjoys a good meal. We were seated promptly and were greeted by Zoe our fantastic waitress. We were 6 adults and 3 children. Everyone opted for "all you can eat". Zoe took everyone's order, made note I am a celiac requiring Gluten Free. Everything perfect up to this point. Runners brought our orders to the table, but there was such mass confusion. Dishes we didn't order, half of our orders, just pure chaos. My first sashimi I spat the Ika into my napkin it was so bad. After 35 minutes I finally got my miso soup. Kids were getting cranky because they were hungry and the "kitchen" was busy. I ordered a Rainbow Roll with NO krab so it would be GF. 2 rolls and 45 minutes later I finally got the Rainbow Roll and it had krab! So, my bowl of rice cost me $35. My son waited over an hour for his hibachi shrimp. Zoe was wonderful and tried to make things right but it was too late. I will be not be back. The system for ordering is faulty, food for those who did get to eat was mediocre. My food inedible. Think twice before deciding to eat here. read more

My husband and I decided to try this new place for a date night to celebrate our anniversary and late Mother's Day. We both LOVE sushi, and we were excited to try a new all you could eat restaurant/made to order! As soon as we walked in, the two people at the front desk were very standoffish and quiet, I tried to stay hopeful for the sake of it being new to us, but we sat down and got to the menu and we were ambushed by a slap on the table from our waiter who ran by and said be there in a moment, again, no big deal. He came back and didn't even ask how we were doing, just said "what do you want to drink". We both got waters and wanted iced tea. We got served waters and hot tea. I'm not one to complain, thankfully I like green tea so we drank it. When it came to ordering food, we were rushed and the gentleman looked like he didn't want to be working or be bothered. We placed orders for things that never got brought out. I told our waiter I had a gluten allergy and he recommended every roll that had tempura shrimp or was deep fried. I looked at my husband and got nervous because I cannot have any gluten. I carefully ordered and took my supplements just in case and thankfully I did because somehow I got served 4x with dishes that contained gluten. I had to reorder rolls multiple times and inspect all of them as they got to the table to make sure there wasn't any hidden gluten ingredients somehow. So here's a note to all my celiac/gluten free people - DO NOT come here. They have rolls that are "gluten free" / "gluten safe" from how they're described, but then they for some reason use imitation krab instead or add crunchies on top and it's now not actually gluten free. 90% of their menu is deep fried rolls or rolls that contain shrimp tempura. The other rolls may have some additions to give crunch. So just beware. The gentleman that was serving the dishes on our side of the restaurant was also very blunt and seemed like he didn't want to be there. We tried to get their attention to ask questions, but they didn't bother to care. My husband ordered the Philly Roll and it's supposed to have salmon in it, never in my life have I had a salmon roll that used lox instead of regular sushi grade salmon? It was still good, but an interesting thing to serve without saying something on the menu. Unfortunately, we will never be returning. This is extremely far from being authentic in any way. The restaurant ambiance was nice, they had music playing that was today's hits, multiple tvs playing different shows... but for the food, don't bother. read more

I dined at sushi Yama several weekends in the past and had no complaints about the fish it seemed very fresh. I recently went during an afternoon weekday and was disappointed by the fish quality. I enjoy sashimi with no rice and every piece I was served had excessive water and mushy. That's a clear sign that the fish had been refrozen. In a sushi dish it wouldn't be noticeable as the rice would absorb excess moisture. I did not voice a complaint to management but should have thinking about it now. I am reluctant to go back unless it was during a busy weekend where the fish is used quickly . Please be aware of this dicey and possibly dangerous practice. Amazing Japanese all-you-can-eat experience! The restaurant is absolutely stunning -- super modern, elegant, and very comfortable. The tables are large and spaced out, giving you plenty of privacy, which I really loved. The menu is incredibly creative and every single dish we ordered was delicious -- totally worth every bite! Just be careful not to order more than you can eat, because any leftovers will be charged (and honestly, it's too good to waste anyway!). The staff is very kind and attentive. During lunch, the menu has fewer options but it's also more affordable. Dinner is a bit more expensive, but completely worth it for the full experience.
