After waiting until the night before to reserve a sunset sailing excursion during our Maui vacation (I don't recommend this procrastination), I was able to find 4 available slots on Sail Maui, the only affordable and available sailboat excursion left. We arrived at the marina/harbor early. I wandered the docks looking for Sail Maui's dock, which I couldn't find. So I called the number on the email confirmation and was informed that the boat hadn't docked yet, but would be at the first main dock, as they don't have their own (yet). A lot of other passengers were confused, too, on where to meet, but everyone gathered near the main dock in a line as the information was shared. We were given a roll call and boarded the boat as our names were called. A group of four wasn't there, but another party informed the crew that they decided not to go because they heard they'd get wet. Before boarding, we had to take off our shoes and put them all in a big bag. Personal items were asked to be put in a secure (covered) area as well. That's when I started to hope this wasn't going to be a big mistake. I was there with 3 older family members (in their late 60s) and I didn't want them to hate the experience I picked out and reserved. We picked a "seat" in the front part of the catamaran on the starboard (right) side. There was netting to walk on across the front. It was leisurely at first, and we were soon given our first drinks -- a round of Mai Tais. We were then allowed to go into the cabin area for all-you-can-eat appetizers. They were delicious and filling, plenty for us to make a meal (dinner). The sunset sail was a great value, too. Not only did we get the excursion, but we also got dinner and drinks. The dinner and drinks alone would have cost us a lot in Maui. The boat picked up the pace and we started to get some mist and gentle splashes from the ocean here and there. The further and faster we went, the more warm ocean water we got hit with. At first, I don't think my family was enjoying themselves, but after 2-3 of those Mai Tais and just "letting go," they were having the time of their lives. I've truly never seen them laugh so much or look so happy. Yes, we were pretty wet, but fortunately, we picked the right (pun intended) side. The port (left) side got hit by waves of water. And when I say waves, I mean literal waves. They were drenched. I'm sure the back probably fared a bit better. But this was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we made the most of it. So, yes, you will most likely get wet. But you will have a wonderful boating experience, good food/drink, and always remember your sunset sail. read more

I highly recommend Sail Maui! My boyfriend and I had a great time on their sunset cruise. The staff was extremely personable and engaging. There was a good selection of beverages and each guest was given a charcuterie box. While there were several other parties on board, it didn't feel crowded and there weren't lines for drinks. The views were incredible and we even got to see a couple of whales! The sign to wait and check in was a little difficult to find - instead of a stand along the docks it a plastic sign so it can be hard to miss. read more

Absolutely perfection. We sailed on the sunset champagne cruise out of Lahaina this past Monday. Captain Patrick and his crew (Hi Meilani!) were knowledgeable, skilled, courteous, and just amazing all around. They made sure every guest was happy and taken care of in addition to never slowing down and fulfilling their roles on the vessel. We even saw whales during our excursion and it was a surprise that just outmatched our expectations. We can't wait to go back and book again on our next visit. When we arrived at the Lahaina Harbor, there was a super friendly gentleman out there with a big sign greeting people and checking them in - very simple check in process and we just were waiting for the boat before ours to leave so we could get on ours. Every second of this trip was incredible and worth every single penny. This was the best experience we've had in Maui so far. We were on the Paragon (we learned, the fastest boat in the state!) and it was a perfect experience. As soon as we were out of the dock area, the crew immediately started getting us drinks and boy did they keep them flowing! Hor d'oeuvres were these tasty pork sliders, chocolate chip cookies and banana bread. We weren't hungry for dinner afterwards, only went to grab an appetizer once we got off the boat. The views were absolutely stunning and they played great, relaxing music the whole time. If you get sea sick, definitely sit in the back of the boat, but it was very tame waters the night we went out (only got up to 10 knots with the sails up) but it made for a very pleasant trip. LOVED EVERY SECOND and would absolutely do it again! read more

I called them to book a snorkeling trip on Monday July 12th 2021 for me and my buddy and they only had a single spot at 4:30 pm on Wednesday July 14th, so I booked that single spot! My husband, 13 y.o. son and I went on the Lana'i coastal snorkel cruise on 7/27/2021 with Capt. Patrick, and crew members Kirsten, Brittany, and Murph. This was a wonderful experience that involved a light breakfast, snorkeling for nearly an hour in a marine sanctuary, deli sandwich lunch, a dolphin sighting by a few of us , and an opportunity to jump off the boat into the deep blue ocean and open our eyes under water. We were able to do the latter due to the lack of wind that day. If you get the chance to do this, DO IT. The crew was capable, friendly, interesting, and encouraging. Some things you may wish to know if you are considering this trip: The age range seemed to be elementary school age kids to about 60. I'm on the older end (50's), about average fitness for my age, and I was able to do everything. I didn't see any toddlers/infants. Be prepared for 5 hours of sun exposure. Have your reef safe sunscreen on when you arrive, wear a swim shirt/rash guard, and use the sunscreen they provide each time you get out of the water. They do have some seating in their open cabin, but I tend to get sea sick in such an environment and it seemed like others did too. They do provide alcoholic drinks, but this was not a booze cruise. People were drinking, but no one was obnoxious. There were a lot of minors that day, so I'm sure that helped. One of the best recommendations I got that day was from Murph, who suggested taking the flotation belt they offered so I could snorkel longer. I did, he was right, I outlasted my kid and husband . I'm a decent swimmer, but it was nice not to exert all that energy. Obviously if you like to dive down while snorkeling, not the suggestion for you. We went out with Captain James, Keeley and Ben. The deck hands and captain all did a phenomenal job! I felt safe the whole trip and catered to. We did the molokini snorkel trip and loved it from start to finish. From the whales gracing us with their presence to the service to the visibility at molokini, it was all perfect! The food was amazing for breakfast and they did a great job during lunch time. We loved how intimate it was we only had 18 people to the whole boat whereas other sailboats carry 34-50 people. My husband and I were able to book the Sail Maui snorkel tour for our anniversary. The crew members were extremely courteous and helpful. During the boat ride to Lanai we were able to catch up to a pod of dolphins and it felt as though they were swimming with us along the ride. Once we got to our snorkel destination we were able to swim out for more than enough time. The reef was beautiful and thriving with ocean creatures. The ride back was eventful due to some sea sickness but the crew handled the situation perfectly. We were able to get a little extra time on the Sail boat and had a one in a life time experience. Went on a sunset cruise with my wife on the bigger of the catamarans about three weeks ago. The weather was not great - lots of rain all day - and I wasn't sure if we'd go out. They basically said the captain just makes a decision at the time of departure, so definitely show up. I think it scared off quite a few people so we only had about 20 of us on the boat. Anyway, we ended up going out and I'm glad we did! Tons of whales during whale season in every direction you looked. The crew was great too. Just a super friendly group, Captain Nick was hilarious and very entertaining, and Noah(?) was a nice dude too. Open bar with more than you could want. Beer, mixed drinks, etc. The food provided was pretty tasty too. It was nothing amazing, but for the price on Sail Maui, it was definitely worth it. Would definitely go out another time. Our trip with Sail Maui was awesome! We did the Lanai snorkel trip. The ride over to Lanai was beautiful and gave plenary of time to enjoy some mimosas and light snacks, the crew was very attentive and knowledgeable. We were given lots of time to enjoy the reef and snorkel. The ride back was a little bumpy but it was a fun bumpy on the 65' catamaran and the crew did all the moving so you didn't have too. On the way back from Lanai the captain spotted the Lanai pod of dolphins in the channel and took us over to see them play in the surf. It was truly a wonderful trip! Next time we're in Maui we for sure are going to take a different snorkel trip and maybe a sunset cruise as well with sail Maui! read more

Had a great day on the water! Patrick, the Captain, and his crew of Dan, Jenna and Britt made us feel welcome and ensure all on the boat had a great time. The briefing was professional, the service was cheerful and non-stop. Really glad we chose Sail Maui for this snorkel sail. We went to a couple of great spots. The first just off Lanai had beatiful coral and crystal clear water. Minimal current and some really pretty fish. The second stop was a fallen pier just off Maui. Saw a half dozen sea turtles. Two surfaced within 5 feet of me! Lots of fish to see. The stop off Maui was also very clear water with little current. The box lunches were packed with components individually wrapped so the bread didn't get soggy. Breakfast had nice fruit and yogurt. Mimosa, rum & coke, beer and mai tai's were yummy.
