It was quite confusing to find the meetup point at the beginning, but asking the hotel staff did help us getting there. We went on the high-tide day so needed to walk a bit from the usual boarding area. Probably helpful to remind people wearing slippers as you'd need to take shoes off. They did provide proper and plenty storage spaces for your footwear on the boat (appreciated!). Drinks were pretty much bottomless and they had their very own Mai Tai so you could really enjoy the 'complete Hawaiian package'! The only problem with high tide day, it meant be prepped to get wet and going on and off the boat would be quite tricky as you needed to manage timing to avoid the tide from getting you soaking wet. I was unfortunately not the pro and literally got half-bottom wet, getting off the boat LOL. Paid off by the gorgeous sunset view!!

She is a phenomenal captain and her first mate (and crew, per all of Sail Honu reviews on Google and here on Yelp) are top notch, have high EQ, and actually care about the guest experience, the coral reef, honu, sea life, teaching, and more. They work hard to understand weather patterns so you aren't out on the water ending up in a predicament. Anything can happen, of course, but if it can knowingly be prevented for your protection, they will ensure safety! Outside of the technical aspect, SO MUCH FUN! These ladies have amazing senses of humor, great taste in music, and treat you well by ensuring you have everything you need. It's BYOB and they will serve what you bring, and ask if you need refills throughout the time together. We had four in our group and expected to have a great time, but it really was the best time...better than anticipated because of Kiah and Malia. Everything for parking, directions, rules, what to bring, wear, etc., is sent in advance, along with reminder texts and emails. I typically use rideshare, so that too was easy to provide to the driver. I have booked other catamaran tours here on Oahu... this is my go-to from now on!!!

They motor on a large catamaran to the spots where they expect to see humpback whales. They also rely on reports from other whale watching companies to find the spots. We saw around 8 whales (backs and tails). No breaches. If you don't see any whales, they give you one free return trip. This month (February) is supposed to be within the season for the humpbacks. They provide free drinks which includes adult beverages. This is a pretty laid back trip which I enjoyed. There really isn't any educational aspect offered up. Friendly crew and fellow passengers. The sailing was the best experience, they took us out towards diamond head and we had full sails, Ty was a great captain and sailed like a pro. We stopped to snorkel at spot where Johnny was able to guide us over to a area where numerous turtles were hanging out. I'd say about 10 turtles at the floor of the ocean and they came up about every 15 min. Johnny was extremely educated on the sea and told us not only a lot about the sea creatures but about the island and it's history. Great experience!
