I came here on a Saturday night to celebrate the life of a friend. It was Robert Ariel Wellman's party and Kareoke night and wow did we have fun. This is what a Saturday night at a neighborhood pub should be. Dancing, singing. Good people, great food and drinks. A pitcher of beer cost me about $36. There certainly were some talented performers tonight and when the right song comes on everyone starts singing. They have daily food specials and a late night menu. To be clear this place is the penultimate dive bar and as such the last place I'd ever suggest you take a large group of people merely because it won't "break the bank" I'm a firm believer in paying for what you get and the more you cheap it out the worse the experience will be. I also hear on the QT that management stiffs their own staff on tip outs which is pretty low. I would never patronize any establishment that resorts to such vile conduct on the backs of those that make the place run read more

The first night the server must have had a rough day but the food was good. The second day the server was over worked but lovely. This place is a little sticky but the food is really good, especially the wings. read more

I was really shocked that I wasn't welcome there and they were still open but I was told they were closed. Oh well. We went up the hill to a real pub that is open past 5 and had a great meal. I have to say though I am extremely disappointed in being treated so poorly when I have been in before and I know they were just being mean. read more

The worst place ever to have a company party. They accept our company party for a Tuesday night. Party starts at 7pm but they still let others in. At 8:30 pm there were 40 plus people waiting to get inside. The goon at the door was rude. The manager would not talk to the people waiting. Waited 40 minutes then left without ever being admitted despite having a ticket. Lousy experience. Poorly organized Pub. will never go back. Cost $15 to park. Supposed to get reimbursed by pub but door goon said no. Please do not ever go to this awful place. read more

Yum! My man and I stopped by here yesterday for some grub while waiting to get my car window replaced, and were we ever impressed! An inconspicuous little pub, we walked in and it was totally dead, not usually a good sign, but we were starving and weren't in the mood to continue walking! We were greeted by our server, who was helpful and friendly, and chose a seat out on the patio. She promptly brought us our drinks, a delicious Caesar included, and we opened up our menus. At first glance the menu seemed pretty straight edge pub fare, applies and burgers and the like. I ordered the chicken club and tossed salad, and my man decided on the steak sandwich. Upon ordering our server recommended the special to my boyfriend, which was a steak sandwich with pasta and Caesar salad, for only $5.95, and he decided to give it angry. I asked to have guacamole out on my sandwich, and she said it would be $3, I was pretty taken aback by the price and declined. We continued on with our drinks, enjoying the sun, and back out the door comes our server. she had spoken to the chef, and they decided to give me guac on my sandwich for only $.50 instead - great!! One more round of drinks later, and out comes our meals... the steak sandwich special was amazing, the 6oz steak was cooked to perfection, and despite being quite a thin steak, the chef didn't a superb job not over-cooking it! The guac on my sandwich was also a surprise, I was expecting a little bit on in piece of bread, but it was literally oozing out the sides, just how I like it!! Everything was delightful! I've been to Sailor Hagar's before but only for drinks. I have to be honest, the location is super convenient for myself but i'd rather take the walk and go where I know the food quality is better. Don't get me wrong, it's hard to screw up nachos and wings. The ones i had here were satisfactory but for the same price I could go multiple places in North Van. I was super disappointed that they replaced Red Racer Ale with a Whistler Grapefruit Lager. Who does that? Bad choice. The staff were friendly and they have lots of room but the patio is sub par and the washrooms did not pass my visual inspection. My suggestion, have your staff check the washrooms for soap, paper products and general cleanliness at least every couple of hours. On a side, I do think Sailor Hagar's is great for a large group of people. It suits a large crowd, they have lots of staff, decent beer specials and the food prices won't break the bank. read more

Why is this showing $$$$? it's not very expensive. Might be the cheapest pub on the north shore. $$ It's a three star with a push for the chef and the prices. Food is good pub food and lots of small tvs and one large screen ( ok not that large). Pool and darts to boot. Locals hangout. Zero attitude. All ages, everyone pretty well in good spirits, no one passed out or obnoxious. Gets a bit of a jag on for a big game as a local/pub/sports bar should. read more

Went to try out Sailor Hagar's - I'm not a huge pub person but the place was really nice. Has a great view of downtown Vancouver on a nice day. The service was great - no complaints. I tried the Ohso Hot Deluxe pizza which was pretty top notch!! Thin crust, not too greasy and would recommend it to any pizza fan. They have a good selection of food and would definitely go back!! read more

Just went and had the bacon mushroom cheese burger. I realize it's Friday night but it took ages for the server to come by and even offer me a menu, and then the food probably took another 30+ minutes. The first bite, the burger was so burned I basically just tasted burned meat. Made the mistake of thinking it was just the one edge and took a couple more bites which were marginally better. Opened up the burger to see that a) there was no cheese, b) maybe a sprinkling of small grilled mushrooms and c) a burnt burger that was falling apart. Took me probably another ten minutes to get a server's attention, not even mine. Because I had already eaten, let's say optimistically 40% of the burger and the bacon off it and the fries (since those weren't burnt to crisps and I'm hungry af from waiting) they gave me 15% off.... I dunno the whole thing just made me feel dismissed and like I was just looking for a handout or something and that they didn't really care that the food was bad. I paid and left the rest. I didn't expect not to pay or anything, I honestly would have preferred if they would have offered me a new burger or something so at least now I'm not both poor and hungry but they didn't seem all that interested in whether or not I was happy with the experience to begin with. read more
