Okay I have never posted on Yelp before ... but I never started working out the way I work out at St. Helena Fitness before. I started in mid September 2018 and work with a trainer. Going to a party today so got up to choose what I was going to wear. I had my choice of two dresses that used to be way toooo small for me and nothing else. None of my clothes fit any more! I love the changes in my health and fitness and am looking forward to getting a new wardrobe once my body stops evolving. At least my shoes still fit :) read more

This is a good gym for cardio buffs and gym rats. Despite limited space and equipment I got a very good work out while on vacation. Virginia was very helpful during my visit. What I didn't like was the $20 day pass (thought it was $10). It seems excessive given it's not plush or has other amenities. read more

The facility is packed with everything! There is a great vibe. Everyone is so nice and encouraging, no pressure. I had my first boot camp with Rusty and he was fantastic... I can barely walk.. in a good way. I'm excited about my 6 week challenge. Vee has been fabulous as well as Erin. Can't wait to take another class. The apps are so helpful and the meal program is perfect for me... I need a regimen to follow to get back into shape! read more

The owner and team at St. Helena Gym are highly knowledgeable, well educated and professional personal trainers at a well worth it very reasonable price! I'm not a gym person but I like to feel strong and capable however, I dislike working out so I depend on a trainer to push me out of my comfort zone. Josh is my current trainer and when he is away Gus steps in. They both have different styles that leave me sore, sweaty and tired. I would never do 1/4 of the things they tell me to do on my own! I trust there knowledge and I feel my body is shaping up. I'm on week six of 2 days a week training and already I have had to tighten my belt to a smaller size plus the scale shows I'm down. read more

This gym is perfect if you like small gyms. Downstairs you've got some cardio equipment and a small lifting area. Upstairs is a classroom and open area for abs/stretching. There isn't a lot of equipment but every time I've gone I've always gotten my choice of equipment. Members are all friendly (perk of it being a small gym) and you can always get help right away if you need it (perk of having the front desk in the same room as the workout area). The locker rooms are clean and they provide towels. Membership rates are reasonable and they offer lots of options to fit you without sticking you with ridiculous start up/random fees. I had just moved to the area and signed up for a membership when the wildfires hit. I went a ways south for 2 weeks and asked if there was any way the gym would be willing to suspend my membership until I got back. They were very accommodating and allowed me to do this which speaks volumes about their view point and value to the customer. Visited SHF while touring Napa Valley. Fabulous gym tucked away in St.Helena near Crocker & Star Winery. The owner, Michael,is beyond accommodating & the feel is relaxed yet invigorating. All the machines, weights, classes, & personal trainers one could need, while the feel is intimate & non-judge mental. All ages would feel comfortable here. Very sparkling clean & bright. read more

Every time I come to st helena fitness all the staff is welcoming and approachable. Mike the owner is super professional, he's always reachable if I have any diet or workout questions. St. Helena fitness is a very clean/well organized facility. The staff was courteous and more than helpful when I had questions regarding some of their newer equipment. My only issue with this gym is that I do not live closer! I would definitely take advantage of this facility more often if I lived in the area. Do yourself a favor, speak with the owner Mike. After 20 so years I returned to the gym and this is the gym to be at! Ive felt fear, intimidation but after a few days working out- this gym has been very welcoming and by far so understanding of my needs! I signed up for the first time ever to do a "spin" class with "Jane" she was very uplifting & motivating but most importantly very understanding. I love this gym. It's small but it's not humid and sweaty like some gyms. You can always get on the equipment you need, the locker rooms are immaculate and the classes are fantastic. Mike is a great PT and has a nice little gym. It's not very big, but he has all of the essential resistance training as well as cardio equipment. Upstairs there is room to do abdominal and thera band exercises. I would definitely recommend this place! read more

SH Fitness is under new ownership, with an exclusive focus on a high quality experience at very reasonable prices in what is quite frequently a pricey tourist destination. SHF is a membership facility and also provides daily or weekly use at prices that are up to a third less than other local options. My wife and I have been members for several years and have been impressed by the ongoing facilities upgrade by the new owner, who is a local kid and former St. Mary's College student/athlete, who returned to his hometown with an MBA. In addition to being able to provide advice and guidance, Mike has purchased new high quality equipment and is continuing to renovate the bright well equipped gym. The vibe is casual and welcoming and would work well for extended membership or for visitors. Highly recommended. read more

St. Helena Fitness is my go to gym because of the owner Mike who is always extremely helpful and informative. Whether you are looking for coaching on technique or advice on how to start a healthy diet you can rely on Mike to give you the best advice. Another thing I love about this gym is that it is very well maintained and organized. The equipment is always very clean which makes it a comfortable environment to get a great workout in. The only reason I am not rating this Gym 5 stars (whoohoo! as good as it gets) because its not as good as it gets. Its only going to get better!! St. Helena Fitness is coming along!! I cant wait to see when all the renovation and remodeling is complete. There is limited equipment but only because the gym is a smaller in size than most. Its perfect for those who are looking to get in, do their thing and get out. Downstairs is well established with cardio as well as lifting equipment and resistance training equipment . Upstairs there a place for stretching and floor work, as well as a small mirrored studio for fitness classes offered such as spin and zumba. In time this studio will be extended with brand new hardwood floors. All members are very friendly and always willing to help in any way. The locker rooms/ bathrooms are neat and tidy which is always a plus. Especially for those who need to head to work right after a good workout. This Gym has great positive energy. Saint Helena Fitness is a special gym, although at first glance it seems small it is laid out so well that it makes for an easy workout, even when it's busy. What this gym lacks in quantity it more than makes up with the quality of the equipment. I'm a former Mr. California and I've trained all over the country. I would put this gym in my top 10 of places to train. Not only do I really like the equipment but the owner and staff are very personable and eager to help in any way. Also there are no big egos or rude people to contend with which makes working out at Saint Helena Fitness a pleasure. What a gem of a gym. Every weight and machine you can imagine, spin bikes, plenty of room to stretch, nice locker rooms with showers and owner Michael is both delightful and super helpful. I just took a great strengthening class, one of a handful of cool classes they offer. This place has not reached its full potential and yet it is a great place to work out. This place has had a lot of upgrades and renovations and cant wait to see what it will look like in the near future. Where else can you find people like this running a gym? The staff is amazing, friendly, helpful and the owner himself is a great person overall and truly cares about every person who walks into his gym. I have a second home in the Napa Valley, and am spending a couple of months here this summer, and wanted to continue my practice of working out with a personal trainer while I'm here. I saw St. Helena Fitness online and joined, then set up an appointment to work out with Mike, the owner. He is a really good trainer--very knowledgable about exercise and physiology, and he kicks my ass in just 1/2 hour a few times a week. Last week, I trained with another trainer, Archie, and he REALLY kicked my ass, so that I had to skip my Weds workout because I was so sore from Monday! I debated knocking off a star because the gym itself is not as posh as others in the area, but upon thought I realized that all the equipment is perfectly fine, there is a lot of it, the place is clean, the music is pretty good, and everyone is super friendly--so who cares if it's not fancy? Also, it's very reasonably priced. read more
