Very friendly and cozy neighborhood coffee spot! Went early enough on a Saturday morning to enjoy the shop. Dirty Chai latte with oat milk hit the spot. I appreciated that their chai is not sweetened at all because you get to taste the depth of flavor of the chai. Thankfully our barista shared that hot tip. Also ... if you can't find the coffee shop on the left well it's because it's across the street. Look for it on the corner of a beige building. I'm not sure why I love this place, but I do. It has the perfect little Portland cafe aesthetic, really delicious coffee on drip, and reasonable prices. I usually take mine To Go, however there are a few cute seats to enjoy a laptop and baked good. I walk in and find myself in some sort of backwoods hunting lodge aesthetic with taxidermy and hunting caps adorned with the coffee shop logo hanging for sale. This country boy can appreciate these digs, so hopefully they deliver on delicious coffee. I order a 16oz drip, no room. My wife orders an oat milk latte. We both get pastries. The croissant is just to my liking, soft interior with crispy exterior and minimal flake. The 16oz drip is exquisite, with flavor notes pleasing to my palette. Great for dropping in for a coffee, but there is minimal seating so go early if you want to guarantee a seat, otherwise head over to Saint Simon for coffee and croissant and you won't be disappointed. read more

I've seen this coffee shop many times and finally had a chance to stop by. The location is on the smaller side but it's very cute and clean. Luckily I ended up getting a small table. The baristas were nice and friendly, service was fairly fast considering how many people were there when I walked in. I ordered my usual as I do everywhere I go; a vanilla iced latte. I found the coffee to be tasty but not as flavorful as I usually like, overall a solid latte option. They had some food menu options as well and the avocado toast looked delicious, I know this because the table next to me had ordered it. The only downside for me as someone who typically does work in cafe's is the lack of outlets to charge my computer. Totally fine considering the small location but I would come back again with a fully charged laptop or a journal! I was visiting a church on a whim up in Portland and wanted to check out a coffee shop before the service started. I found this coffee shop within walking distance and decided to read and journal for a bit. It's quite small, and there isn't much indoor seating. I arrived early so thankfully I was able to find somewhere to sit, eat/drink, and journal. The inside did not have much lighting but I did like the vibe it, it felt slightly upscale rustic and cozy. The food nor service was particularly memorable, but should I ever be in that area again, I definitely would be open to stopping by this coffe shop ! read more

This neighborhood spot should be a coffee destination if you're even near the area. Friendliest, most creative baristas who knew so many customers and their kiddos by name. My friends and I were in town for a work trip and came by for my daily mocha fix. Deep rich drink that was the perfect temperature and kept me focused while I worked away. Then the craziest thing happened. I heard matcha and strawberry nesquick and I spun around to see them making a gorgeous layered drink. They asked if I wanted to try it - hell ya!! I get my hair cut next store and afterwards usually treat myself to an iced mocha. baristas are friendly and love to talk about and explain the different coffees. They also have a small but delicious selection of pastries, muffins and cookies. If you want top notch coffee and pastries, get a pasty from Twisted a little further down the street and a coffee or tea here. The cafe has a clean and modern decor with a bit of industrial vibe. There are just a few chairs and tables inside with a couple of bistro tables and chairs outside as well. Parking on NE Broadway is sometimes tight so park where you can or across the street Which for some reason usually has open spaces. read more

Probably the most expensive lattes I've seen in Portland that aren't specialty (ie Abba). It was a well-done and tasty latte however likely won't return as can get similar quality for less money elsewhere. The scone I had was also quite tasty but had a significant amount of sugar on the top so after shaking and brushing off all the excess was pretty good. Place is quite small but we were still able to snag a seat but there isn't much room for the line to queue. read more

We originally went to Twisted Croissant up the road (that deserves its own 5 star review, but in summary, go to Twisted!), but my friend and I wanted coffee along with our pastries. The staff at Twisted recommended SS to us and we happily went. And her recommendation did not disappoint! We both got oat milk lattes and they were wonderful. The staff and baristas were really kind and even offered us knives and plates for us to eat our croissants. Popped in here for an oat milk flat white and a sweet treat. The flat white was perfection, creamy microfoam balanced with the nutty smoothness of the espresso. So good I'm still thinking about it this morning. Pastries are from Bake Shoppe which regardless of where I get them, always taste day old and are definitely not worth the price point. I wish Tabor Bread or some alternative bakery sweet treats made their way to more cafes. Regardless, five stars for the flat white and five stars for the service! Saint Simon blessed me with a London fog to lift my mental fog ;) I've switched from coffee to black tea because I've developed a debilitating case of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). Apparently it's hereditary, thanks dad :p! The atmosphere is cozy but a tad crowded. I prefer finding quieter retreats for my wake up caffeine sessions. It did however meet the Portland "vibe" that I've really been looking forward to on this trip. The barista even had a well-trimmed mustache and khaki canvas apron! So fun! Sat outside to "people watch" and found their patio to be a tad chilly (maybe because I'm a goof and sat outside in January, lol!). I ordered an 8 ounce honey latte, and dare I say exceeded my expectation for a perfect, nonacidic creamy latte. Saints Simon? Saint Simons? Saints Simons? The new location on 15th & Brazee is super spacious, airy, and full of the same delicious Coava coffee served up on Broadway. The coffee is brewed strong, and the Soul Chai lattes are good as ever. I would (and do) go out of my way to come to Saint Simon when I know I need a good pick-me-up on a weekday morning. Other locals come to hang out on the weekends. Regardless, they've got ya covered. read more

One of the worst almond milk lattes I've ever had. Both their method of steaming the milk and the quality of their espresso was not good. My latte lacked foam. There was an obvious distinction between the almond flavor and the espresso flavor, when it should be steamed to a slight sweet flavor and blended together for smoothness. Their latte tasted like almond milk poured on top of coffee, not to mention they didn't steam the milk enough, as my latte was cold when I first got it. The only upsides are the location and cuteness of the little shop. It's in a cute place in Lloyd district, great for walking around. read more

One of the smallest coffeeshops I've been to, I wouldn't come and stay for a long time. That doesn't take away from the charm the entire place has, and immediately you feel as though you're exactly where you're supposed to be for a great experience. I came around 10AM, and I was the only person inside, but Breezeblocks was bumping loudly and I'm convinced it made my coffee taste better. $4 for a 8oz latte with milk steamed to the perfect temperature, I cannot be more grateful for this shop located just down the street from my AirBnB. Parking again is the only negative I have. Since I missed the shop the first time I was driving on the street, I nearly missed it a second time had I not parked in the reserved parking for the yoga studio next door. Parking on the other side of the street however is definitely worth it. read more
