This is a lovely little coffee place that also has delicious bagels, bagel sandwiches, and other baked goods. The interior is very attractive, warm and a friendly place. Everything was very clean and orderly. The eggs on the bagel sandwiches are perfectly baked and fluffy and they use actual cheese as opposed to that American cheese product. Very tasty and I highly recommend the sandwiches. My dining companion had a latte which was very much enjoyed, and I had a drip coffee which I found to be slightly more acidic than I cared for. I stopped by to get some last minute work done and honestly this is one of the best places to work remotely. The interior has great seating and plenty of space along the sides. There are a lot of outlets available which is always helpful. The coffee was amazing and I wish I had taken a photo of it. Haha maybe next time. The staff were wonderful and really friendly. Nice little coffee shop in the Zipper. Standard coffee quality, which in Portland is very good. Very convenient location. The baristas have always been very nice but not too chatty which I love! I wish the seating arrangements were better though. I popped into Seven Virtues on my recent Portland trip to get out of the hotel room for awhile and get some work done. This cute little shop is light and bright, with big windows and cheerful Tiffany blue walls. The staff was friendly and nobody seemed to mind that I nursed my hot chocolate with oat milk and bagel into a long stay sitting and working at one of their booths. The wifi was a little slow for my needs, but this isn't uncommon in coffee shops. I definitely enjoyed the vibe and would love to try some of their other food items on my next visit! read more

I have been here many times before. Ordered two catch bagels to go. Got home and there was the smallest about of lox I have ever seen in a bagel. Also no tomato on one half. I called back they were out of the garlic bagels to remake them. Asked for a refund the lead said they couldn't do that. Driving back out there to get the remake. Terrible. read more

I had noticed this place after eating at Basilisk and was slightly bummed to find out that it was closed for the day. Two days later, my husband and I were in the area and we wanted to check it out. When you walk in, you'll immediately notice all the natural light coming from the many windows. You'll also be greeted with a friendly smile from the barista who happened to be making several drinks while making it look super easy. Soo...you know you're in the right place. There is a food and drink menu, nothing crazy extensive but that's perfect for an indecisive person (yours truly!). I opted for an iced lavender latte with oat milk. I confessed to the barista that I was worried about the drink being too sweet as that has happened one too many times at other establishments. The barista reassured me that she'll keep it light on the sugar but that the drink will still be well balanced. A few minutes later....I was in lavender oat milk latte heaven! This icy concoction was exactly what I needed to take on Portland's unusually hot weekend (it was around 91 degrees when we were there but I digress!) The only sad part about my visit to Seven Virtues is that there isn't a location in San Diego but one can only dream for the time being. Until next time! :) read more

Cool coffee shop at the Zipper. Vibes are good. As soon as I entered the shop, the guy working said, "what's up," and I felt comfortable. While the barista looked cool af, he was also very chill, which is always a plus in a coffee shop. I had an iced latte with some hazelnut. It was delightful. I also tried a banana nut muffin. The place deserves 4.5 stars overall but it's a 'Portland' 5. The good: coffee is the best in the kerns neighborhood you're gonna find. Their bagel sandwiches are generally pretty delicious and are usually properly made - my fav is the Acorn to Oak. The feel is modern and approachable. The narrow and long triangle architecture of the space is unique- it's a little awkward but I don't mind. And I personally love the music the baristas play which usually ranges from post punk and dark wave to classics like Bowie and the Beatles. The not so good: the quality of both the service and the food and drinks can depend on who's making them. It's Portland, so prompt and accurate service is the best you can expect from the hipster barista crowd. They're never gonna be happy to see you. We've seen several employees pass through who seemed lazy, did a sloppy job with the drinks and food for us, and seemed disinterested and put-out that we had asked them to prepare a bagel sandwich. One barista actually told us they didn't have enough staff on that day to make the bagel sandwich so they weren't doing those when clearly he just didn't want to. And earlier this week they put humus on my bagel instead of cream cheese. While this would normally be a lot of complaints, I've been coming here for a year and it's almost always great. read more

The bagel with cream cheese paired well with my latte. What the hell was in this bagel? I mean, it's just a standard bagel with cream cheese right? Uhhhhh ..... Idk, but it was one of the better bagels I've had. The interior is simple with a handful of tables. The atmosphere is friendly and the workers are super nice. The ordering window is facing the intersection of NE 28th Ave and NE Sandy Blvd. They use a baby monitor to help communicate across the window and masks, which I found clever and entertaining. My wife and I were visiting from out of town and decided to pop over to this little corner coffee shop after picking up our rental car. One of the great parts about this shop is that they make breakfast bagel sandwiches that are spot on. Now I'm pretty picky when it comes to getting a latte and most places either add too much milk/milk alternative or oversweaten. This place however was spot on with my oat milk hazelnut latte it wasn't too sweet or watered down and you could actually taste the coffee flavor. My wife got the macchiato which was fantastic. We both got a bagel sandwich mine being the lumberjack and hers being the eggworks and they both left us very satisfied. This is one of the many cute coffee shops in Portland! They make their flavored syrups in house, so you can ask exactly what ingredients they use. They have a selection of coffees with their profiles listed, so you know whether the coffee will be fruity, earthy, nutty, etc. There isn't a lot to absorb sound, so it can get a bit noisy when they are busy. I feel very neutral about this coffee spot. Smoothies and coffee were decent. Tried to order a bagel but they were out, which was a bummer. Ended up with a banana nut muffin that had zero amount of banana flavor. While I don't fault any business for the impacts of covid, I will say that their setup was quite inconvenient in comparison to all the other coffee spots I've been going to. You have to order at the window via walkie talkie and it's quite hard to hear the staff. They also have multiple versions of their menu posted outside with different pricing and some minor ingredient changes which was tough to know which was accurate (and hard to ask with the ordering setup).
