This place had a nice atmosphere and the food was pretty good, but I wouldn't say great... service was ok, but again not great. Our food took a long time even though it wasn't busy... the worst part was the ladies room, first the door to go in looked dirty & grimy, paint peeling off where everyone pushes the door open. The inside was also dirty and had a urine smell. Ew, that turned me off. Maybe time to paint those doors and give the bathroom a good cleaning.

Came for lunch one day last month for the first time. There were 4 of us. Plenty of places to sit as only a couple of tables were occupied. We all ordered. I asked about the potato chips: are the fresh made? Answer was yes! I'm in, love fresh made chips with ranch sauce. The meals came out and looked very nice. Great presentation. The sandwich I had was good but kind of bland flavoring. Nothing really noteworthy, but definitely ok. The chips tasted really weird, like they were off. So I asked the server what's up? They don't taste fresh. She said they were probably a bit stale as they were made yesterday and sitting in old oil overnight......ummmm...okay, so that's not fresh. I was also charged full price on that and not offered a replacement side. I suppose I could have demanded one but I didn't. My companions got fries so they were happy. They said their meals were " ok" but also kind of bland, too. Nothing else was really wrong. It may have been just a bad day for this place , but based on my experience, I will not be back for lunch. Maybe dinner is a better option?

When we moved to Raleigh, my wife researched on the Web for a pub that attracted an older clientele, and Saints and Scholars came up, top of the list. We had stopped by mid- afternoon a couple of times for a quick drink, but had not really experienced the full atmosphere. So, ok, well, perhaps things get more lively at night and on weekends. Of course we ended up there the evening of the 17th, Saint Patrick's day! It was jam packed, a live band and a great atmosphere. The food menu was much bigger than we had thought originally, and what we ordered was excellent. Of course after several Guinness's (?) and a shot or two of Irish whiskey, I'm sure everything would have tasted grand. I have to apologize for not remembering the band's name, but they were good certainly, rocking the joint for 3 or 4 hours, although towards the end they could have slowed things down a little as the music was becoming slightly overpowering, but not a complaint against the band at all. Everybody that wanted to dance had already been worn out and folks started leaving around around ten thirty/eleven o'clock. A good time was had by all! Will definitely put S&S on our list of pubs to revisit - probably evenings in the future. They do tend to have live music pretty often from what I gather, and have a spacious covered patio outside. The staff, the food, and everything else made for a great evening all around!

This is a neighborhood bar and pub. We visited on a Saturday night for dinner before a live band played. Great service, enjoyed our cushioned bamboo perch with a good view of the band. Fish and chips were here five stars. Crispy and not too greasy. Reports hubby. I opted for a healthy choice--grilled salmon, lentils and rice (way better than that sounds) and a generous pike of assorted steamed veggies. Everything was served hot. Veggies could have used a little more cooking time, fish a little less, but for pub food, a great choice. Acoustics could have been a lot better. Band was okay and drew a nice crowd. No cover charge. The TVs lining the walls and the two distractingly located behind the band, were never shut off, reminding you that this venue is better as a sports bar than a music venue. Interesting yummy drink menu, craft beers and domestics, wine and full bar available. Outdoor space looks like it is worth a trip back to this neighborhood Irish pub when it warms up.

Great place to see live music in north Raleigh! The food is pretty good too, and the drinks aren't crazy expensive. The outdoor area is large and sprawling. Only downside is the bathroom is severely undersized for a place that gets such a large crowd.

They blocked off part of the parking lot, had live music going, and the whole place had that fun, lively energy you want on a holiday like this. Because of the crowd, the menu was trimmed down to the more popular items, but it still had plenty of good options. I ended up getting their Irish eggrolls, they're hand‑rolled and stuffed with house‑cured corned beef, sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese, then sliced and served with their Thousand Island dressing. Basically, it's all the flavors of a Reuben wrapped up in a crispy shell, simple, rich, and exactly the kind of thing that works well at an event like this because its quick and its finger food you can eat while watching the band,. Overall, the atmosphere was great, parking is such a hassle though during these events on the weekend because H-Mart nearby is already so packed. You can park on the other side of the building if you don't mind a brief walk though.

The bar area (with plenty of tables for dining) was packed and looked cozy, but the main dining area is huge and had only a few tables in use. We questioned our restaurant choice, but decided to keep an open mind and give it a try. We are so glad we did! The food was really good. Nice presentation and clearly, whoever prepared it is truly passionate about their job. The portions are large, so expect leftovers. We ordered a fried shrimp appetizer (similar to bang bang shrimp) and a chicken quesadilla as starters. Each could have been a meal on its own and both were delicious. (It's typical bar food - but done well.) For our main dishes we ordered Shepherds Pie (server's recommendation and favorite menu item ), Northern Fish Fry (cod); and a simple cheeseburger with bacon.. everything was tasty, nicely prepared, and again...large portions. The Shepherds Pie came with fresh steamed veggies that were wonderful and a nice surprise. *Note that cod is the Northern Fish Fry- but they also offer a catfish version. The wine was 50% off both by the glass and bottle, I believe that is their typical Saturday drink special. They have a prime rib special on Saturdays as well that is supposedly delicious, and served only until they run out. There is an 8oz or 12oz option. The server was fantastic as well. She was very attentive, knew the menu, and clearly enjoys her job. What more can you ask for? Prices: Our total bill (before tip) was $127 which included a couple drinks from the bar for each of us. The dinners we ate ranged from $16-$20. The starters were a bit pricey (~$18 for the quesadillas) but again, it was meal size and truly delicious. If you are hungry for a burger or typical Irish bar food, then give this place a try. Hopefully you'll have an experience similar to ours! (Our server was home from college for the holidays, so hopefully the rest of the staff is equally attentive.)

Every wall is lined with TVs playing whatever game matters most that night, while dollar bills cover the walls like a scrapbook of good times, tall tales, and nights that ran a little longer than planned. The décor nods proudly (and somewhat creatively) to Irish heritage, with touches of green, classic signs, and a love of good beer doing most of the storytelling. It's a place where locals gather, strangers become regulars fast, and the atmosphere is equal parts loud cheers, friendly debate, and comfortable familiarity. Unpolished, well-worn, and full of character, it's the kind of small-town sports bar where the drinks are cold, the TVs are always on, and everyone feels right at home. The menu leans into its claims of Irish roots with a lineup of familiar pub classics--hearty, comforting dishes that feel right at home alongside a pint. But as solid as those classics may be, the real standout is the good old pub burger. Cooked exactly the way you ask for it--perfectly rare, juicy, and full of flavor--it's the kind of burger that reminds you why simplicity done right always wins. Served up hot and fresh by a friendly face that treats you like a regular, it's not just a meal, it's part of the experience: honest food, genuine hospitality, and a plate that keeps people coming back. Cheers!

I normally do not like leaving bad reviews and very rarelyeave such a low score especially.on a place I like normally. We were seated right away which was nice since there were busy. It was at least 5 minutes before our waitress came and asked us for our drink orders, maybe longer. She seemed to be having a bad night, very unfriendly no smile, was very avious she was not happy. She brought us our drinks and asked of we were ready. They had the boneless wing speacial so wife and daughter got those and I got 12 Jumbo hot wings. They also ordered salads and I ordered loaded potato skins for an appetizer. It seemed to take forever, which I was understanding since there were busy. Eventually the salads came. Wait the ranch dressing for the wings came out 1st. As they ate thier salads I wondered if maybe she didn't get my order for the potato skins.... Eventually she bought 2 orders of wings.my daughters 12 and a big plate of wings. She was like yea the kitchen is crazy this is what they sent. It was a whole bugbplatebof boneless wings. She then brought my jumbo wings. I asked her did you not get my potato skins order... she non-shalontly said yea I got them, im waiting on them and she said something abiutbtheres a new guy training and blames them. We'll no because potato skins were way over cooked the top was dark and the inside were dark as well. My wife tried one and my daughter wouldn't even touch them. The boneless wings were so dry and over cooked. My wings looked ok but they were also hit wings so the were drenched in buffalo sauce as they should be. They ok a little over cooked but we're ok. The Boneless wings were over cooked and dry. The atmosphere was typical of a trivia night which was good. The waitress was horrible no personality almost an attitude even though I tried being nice. No thank you.no have a good night, nothing. I understand people have bad days but if your in the business you just cant be this way. I love this place except for the bathroooms.. which I wish they would update thier bathrooms. I hope maybe if they read this review they can adjust. Yes we got sone extra wings for whatever reason but they were still sry and overcooked.

Don't forget the malt vinegar to pair with the fries! The haddock was done perfectly, as it was both crispy and juicy. It was filling, but not over the top. Quality over quantity for sure. The chicken tikka masala is also a nice touch to the menu. A bit different from the rest, but not overly left of field. It was spiced to be flavorful but not overpowering. The chicken was nice and tender. The herb rice was decent, but still paired well as a sidekick to the tikka masala. Feeling desserts? Leave some space for the tuxedo cake.
