The Celtic Fringe is worth the drive. Out in Reidsville, at the edge of its downtown, it's certainly worth a culinary treat with a little bit of small town exploration. Start the meal off right with some Patatas Bravas. Double-fried potatoes with a tasty salsa and garlic aioli. Those went by quick! It's savory with a hint of spice. For the dinner service entrees, the real winner is the Fish and Chips. It's a huge battered haddock fillet over a bed of fries, accompanied by cabbage slaw and tartar sauce. Don't forget the malt vinegar to pair with the fries! The haddock was done perfectly, as it was both crispy and juicy. It was filling, but not over the top. Quality over quantity for sure. The chicken tikka masala is also a nice touch to the menu. A bit different from the rest, but not overly left of field. It was spiced to be flavorful but not overpowering. The chicken was nice and tender. The herb rice was decent, but still paired well as a sidekick to the tikka masala. Feeling desserts? Leave some space for the tuxedo cake. It's very rich and a solid bite to close out the meal. Shoutout to the wonderful waitress who executed everything without an issue. Reservations are recommended. I'll certainly be back. read more

Updating this review has we had a chance to try the new chefs table offering at Celtic Fringe. Their summer tasting menu consisted of throwbacks to their most popular dishes when they opened. It's the first time they have tried a chefs table offering and for $55 for 8 courses plus this amazing menu, we were in! It was such a nice touch getting to know the chef de cuisine and having her explain each dish and the stories behind them. It gives such a personal view of the flavors and pairings that you wouldn't get otherwise. The food was nothing short of amazing, but that's the norm for this spot we have called a favorite for several years now. The portion sizes were about half of what they would normally be but they were the perfect size when you're getting served eight courses. We also added the wine pairing on and it was 8 2oz pours for just $25 more. This tasting was such a memorable experience and we plan to attend a tasting here seasonally as they offer them. read more

I have traveled all along the eastern USA and always try to eat at Irish restaurants. This place is the absolute best Irish restaurant I have ever eaten at. The owners are here every night working and ensuring each person experiences the best food. They are super kind and the service is exquisite! The food is phenomenal! I have tried almost every dish and struggle in deciding what to eat because everything is amazing. Tonight I had the meatballs as an appetizer with red bell pepper slices. I don't know what they seasoned it with but it was the best I had ever had. I also have the Chicken Tikki Masala which is my favorite dish here. It was amazing as always. I recommend the Scottish eggs and the appetizer bread also as it is so good!! This place can be a cool place to hang out for a bite and beer or for a romantic evening. The owner/woman is always to only server and frankly she is too curt and brusk for me. I'm not sure why she seems annoyed my money spends as good as anyone else's. Family owned and operated. We had the coconut shrimp, shepherd's pie, and fish n chips . The "Fringe" is one of our favorite places in Reidsville Gary and Kim are the owners and they are some of the best people ever! Kim mans the bar and Gary is the executive chef. Their daughter also is head chef. They work very hard to make sure that their food is top tier and a lot of things on their menu are farmed locally. They take reservations only, but if you can't get a table, the bar is just as awesome. They are a small place but do have inside and outside seating. The place is so inviting and decorated perfectly for an Irish theme. They have cold beer, cocktails and wine by the glass and bottle. You have to try the black and tan, yummmm!! The food is top tier and prices aren't bad. I had the Guiness chicken, but I've also had the burger, brussels sprout, appetizer, fish and chips, citrus chicken and the honey glaze pork chops. The brussels sprouts are my favorite appetizer because they are sweet and tangy with balsamic glaze. Everything I've had has always been amazing. The pork chop is *chefs kiss*. Our first visit to the Celtic Fringe was so good that we decided to go back a week later. Guess what? The food and service are still OUTSTANDING!! This time we tried the meatball appetizer and seasonal soup of the day, which was black bean and ham. Both were delicious. For our entrees we tried the peppercorn ribeye, which was HUGE and came with a special potato and green beans. We also ordered the chicken tikka masala which came with jasmine rice and naan, I also added green beans. The chicken tikka masala flavor was on point, so great in fact, that if blind folded it could have fooled me that it was from an authentic Indian restaurant! The portion was huge and I had enough leftover for lunch the next day. For dessert we opted for the brownie sundae. You guessed it, it was huge and bursting with chocolaty goodness! We have driven through this town several times but had never thought to stop and eat. I was craving Scottish eggs and this place had them on the menu. I was scared that I wouldn't get to eat because they are reservation only, but we were lucky they had a seat open. The staff were very friendly and courteous. The hostess found us a seat even without a reservation and she was very friendly. We started with an order of Scottish eggs and pan seared Brussels sprouts, both of which were delicious . The eggs are not the best I've ever had but they are a close second. The Brussels sprouts were awesome given that my better half hates them and still ate half of them. The main dishes were the Guinness chicken & fish and chips both were delicious. I will have to say that if the shepherds pie tastes half as good as the fish & chips I'll be making a special trip to eat it next time. While I did not partake, the desserts are made by local bakeries and hey sounded scrumptious but I was too full to eat another bite. This place is small and off the beaten path. It can provide cozy, romantic seating or a big party feel. Being small I can see this place being really load but it was actually quite quiet when we ate. My friends took me on a tour of their native Reidsville and our grand finale was at the Celtic Fringe. Y'all. This is absolutely one of the best meals I've had in a LONG time. We had been to a brewery and a winery with little snacks so we were ready to order everything. Our waitress who was also the owner, was so hospitable and beyond exceptional. We started off with the Scotch eggs. None of us had tried them, and this is certainly the place to do it. Perfectly soft boiled yolk, crispy, meaty exterior. An odd combination, but it WORKED! The mustard sauce drizzled over top sent it to infinity and beyond. 10/10 recommend these! We also got the cheese fries which had Irish cheddar, bacon and scallions. I liked the addition of balsamic. They also had an appetizer special that night that was meatballs comprised of beef and chorizo. WOW. They were four small meatballs, but oh how good they were! Excellent presentation on everything. The entrees were equally stunning! Everything was plated beautifully. I got the flank steak frites as my entree and it was perfect. Cooked to my liking atop what can only be described as a HEAP of glorious French fry goodness. The acidity from the chimichurri was a perfect balance. Two of my friends got the burgers which were also great, and the fish and chips was next level. Massive piece of wonderfully battered fish, golden brown to perfection. Everything here was 11/10! Took 11 minutes to get a Guinness in a little more than half empty bar. I had the Scottish Eggs for appetizer, Chef Special Reuben Sandwich for main course, and Pecan Bourbon Pie for dessert. All of the items were cooked to perfection. First time visiting this hidden gem. Made reservations for 7:45pm and were immediately seated when we arrived. Menu had a good selection of different types of foods. I ordered Guinness chicken and my husband ordered the NY strip. AMAZING! Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and the sides that come with it were wonderful. The owner Kim was our server tonight and she is fabulous. Everyone we encountered were super friendly and helpful. The background music was a perfect selection and not too loud. This is a pub style restaurant like you would find in Ireland or England. When we were there for my daughter's birthday they had a 100 sanitation rating, a rarity but much appreciated. I had the hamburger which was excellent. My wife had the Guinness chicken which she loved. My son in law had the fish and chips. My burger came with hand cut fries which were very good. Ive have the pleasure of eating here twice.. it's small and they are only open on certain days/times so a reservation ( through open table) is a must. Reidsville doesn't have a lot of eateries so to have this Jewel was nice. First trip I had the shephards pie.. the 2nd I had the polenta cakes both were amazing .. the service was also great.. the people were welcoming and knowledgeable about the selection .. Great Day Trip Find Out for a day trip exploring the area and we knew we would be hitting Reidsville around lunch. Scoped out the area restaurants and while not normally a fan of cuisine from Britain, there are several favorites and I do enjoy the intimate Pub atmosphere so we decided on the Celtic Firnge. Walked in and was immediately impressed. Great Pub atmosphere straight out of Dublin. Several of my favorites were at the top of the menu so I knew I had hit home. First of all, service is great and we wanted for nothing. Looking over the menu, I chose the Shepard's Pie while my companion chose the more British Bangers and Mash. The Shepard's Pie was one of the best I have ever had. Great flavor and testure without an overload of other ingredients including peas and carrots. Very delicate flavor but an excellent overall experience. My companion had the Bangers and Mash and really enjoyed it as well. Portions were large and we ended up with take homes For desert, I had Irish Coffee and my companion had a slice of chocolate Cheesecake Don't normally give a 5 star rating on the first dining experience but this one deserves it. Good food, great service. Call and make reservations to be sure you can be seated. They stay full and space is limited. We enjoyed the sirloin with mashed potatoes, and winter vegetables. The food was excellent but this isn't the place to go for more than a couple drinks. After one beer & four small mixed drink the bartender cut me off and wouldn't serve me anymore. This was the first time this has ever happened to me & I was quite suprised to be honest. I wasn't being rude or loud. Personally, for me I won't ever visit the location again. It was embarrassing & awkward especially when we were having go conversations with other patrons at this location. Naturally I was upset but hey if they don't won't or need my business. There are always. Other places to go! I would proceed with caution especially if you plan on doing a little bit of drinking.
