Came here a second time because I felt like my first experience I didn't order the right roll. Last night I ordered the ocean roll and omg it was absolutley amazing. I paired it with the sweet chili sauce to dip my sushi in and that was exactly what I needed. So good. Missing one star because the service was absolutley terrible. Stopped here for a nice Sunday dinner. Service was good. The hibachi chef was excellent. The kids were all very entertained by him. Our table tried 5 items on the grill. Steak, chicken, scallops, shrimp and squid. Our whole party was very happy. Half of us had fried rice and the other noodles and they were both delicious. I'm not sure if they do this all the time but on Sunday one child is free to eat. My son was suppose to have a kids size but it was huge. They are a few other restaurants in town but this is the best priced. I have been here about three times in the last year or so and I am always pleased. read more

Our family has both dined here and ordered takeout quite often. Until today the experiences have been wonderful. The takeout order took twice as long as estimated to be ready, which was 2 hours instead of 1. After returning home it was discovered that an item was missing. The resolution offered was that we could either drive back and pick up the item, or get a measly $2 store credit. The end result was terrible customer service and a cold meal that we tried to enjoy about 3 hours after placing the order. For the prices at this establishment they should be able to provide a much better experience. Don't waste your time. There are many other similar options in the area that will exceed your expectations and the experience you are likely to have here. read more

I was really surprised to find this place in upstate NY. Overall everything was excellent, and the food was about as close to NYC-area quality Japanese food as you are going to find in upstate NY. The name is misleading, I was worried that it might be a hangout for drunken college students. It was not at all (at least not when I went, which was on a Friday night.) Having said that, the prices are a tad high for upstate NY, but that seems to be the trend with most of the ethnic restaurants around Syracuse. The alcohol is still way, way cheaper than NYC. I'm not complaining. The parking lot can get a little tight with snow. This is a tough call, it's very good but not quite 5-star worthy. If Yelp allowed half stars, I'd probably go with 4.5. read more

I come here all the time and the sushi is super fresh. On Wednesday's they have half priced sushi and every day they have a snack hour after 8pm, which offers lower prices on certain items. The chefs do a great job. The only thing I would criticize is that the service is a bit slow sometimes. But the food is tasty, the price is right, and the environment is fun. read more

Hibachi, like most places, is better enjoyed with a group. So, I usually eat in the regular dining area- either at a table or at the bar. Wide variety of food and drink. Tried to come here for a birthday dinner but didn't even get that far. For a party of 6 was told a 40 minute wait when we arrived. We went to the bar for drinks, and there was a note explicitly next to our names on the list that is where we were. An hour goes by and we inquire with the hostess how much longer it would be. Was told 5 more minutes. After waiting for two hours we find out our table was given away 3 times. Will never come here again. Hostess needs training or needs to be fired. On a recent Wednesday, I wanted to try this sushi restaurant with an old friend of mine. He had a bad experience here about a month ago and I really wanted to try the food so he agreed to come with me despite the bad service he received. Sad to say, I experienced poor customer service as well at Sake bomb. Evidently, there has been a change in management because the lines are always so long and there isn't enough staff to help with the orders. I used to come here all the time and if it was super busy like Wednesday's are, the Manager would open the hibachi tables for guests for the 1/2 off sushi instead of making them wait 1-2 hours for two rolls of sushi. I waited about one hour to be seated, despite the fact that the hostess said it would only be 20-25min; and the food did not arrive until we were done sipping 32 fluid ounces of water roughly 50 minutes after we sat down. There's absolutely no excuse for a three hour time slot for a customer to be seated, food arriving, and completing a meal in upstate NY. The sushi was great... but the service is not worth the trip. If they have a larger staff and consider opening the hibachi tables for the huge sushi demand, on Wednesdays, then maybe the customers wouldn't experience such long waits and such disappointing service. Good Customer Service should always be the number one thing a restaurant strives to accomplish. read more

Food is delicious, however Customer Service is horrific! I stop at this establishment weekly after yoga and my sushi roll is NEVER ready in the time indicated when I call. Staff continually walk right past me w/out offering to assist and when they do speak they are advising you of the amount owed. Payment for takeout is always expected before my food is received which does NOT afford me the opportunity to leave the restaurant if my order continues to be delayed (this is on a Tuesday night). Don't even consider take out of sushi on half price Wednesdays (which is NOT 1/2 price for take out orders, despite the fact that you wait so long because the restaurant is packed to the gills). Again another missed opportunity; NO consideration for loyalty and return business relationships being fortified. My absolute favorite place to go for hibachi. Their fried rice is much better than at other hibachi restaurants & their portions seem larger. The waitress we had last time made sure we had an amazing experience. She was very accommodating. The staff at Sake Bomb is extremely kind. The hibachi cooks are entertaining & great at what they do. Meh? Two friends and I went for 1/2 priced sushi on Wednesday and it was mediocre. The food was pretty good - we each ordered two things first & asked if it was okay to order more after we were finished but our waitress forgot three things we ordered. The last time she came over she even asked, "did you get everything you ordered?" Like she wasn't sure if she forgot something or not. We said no but that it was fine. She didn't charge for them and we didn't make a fuss. However, no one refilled my water for the entirety of the time we were there. I literally had to slurp into my empty drink to get someone to notice. Regardless.. my boyfriends and my stomachs are not feeling super great the day after.. I don't 100% know if this is due to sushi though! I think all of this was because of how busy it was on 1/2 price day. They didn't charge us for the things they forgot..thank god & actually gave us free miso soup (which may have been an accident). Their service is obviously probably better on regular price days. I still prefer sakanaya everyday over this place. Sakanaya has bigger sized rolls with more filling & less rice and the employees there recognize me (kind of shameful but it's fine when you love sushi as much as I do). read more

Went here after wanting to try something different. Previous reviews and pictures definitely got us in the door. Wife and I were not disappointed. We arrived early in the evening and the place was largely empty. Sat by the sushi bar and we both decided that we were going to try something other than the Hibachi style meals we typically enjoy at the areas other longstanding Japanese restaurant. After look at the extensive sushi menu we eagerly made our selections- 007 and the Oneida roll; wife also ordered crab Rangoon. Food came out within ten minutes and was beautifully prepared and soooo delicious. We were both quite full and left feeling satisfied. Believe the total cost for three sushi selections/ alcoholic drinks and the Rangoon was just over $40- a great deal. Service was attentive and friendly. We are both eager to come back and will recommend this place highly to our friends. read more

I went to Sake Bomb with my Husband for date night it was horrible the Long Island ice tea was all water with a little whatever they put in there , the calamari was rubbery, our waiter was really not making sure we were fine I really can't even remember his name , I ordered the octopus salad which I never got I order the ramen noodle soup that tasted and looked likes drain water but I ate it anyway because I was hungry , my husband ordered Crispy duck but it was way way dry we ate it anyways we were determined the nothing will spoil out night because we rarely get our lol. I went there because we had hibachi there the previous week for my daughter's 18th Birthday and it was really great oh not forgetting when the waiter brought my utensils for my soup it was all dirty another waiter had to give me clean utensils I think you guys should take care of customers that are not having Hibachi as the customers that are having hibachi I will go again to see it it was just a bad night but they shouldn't have bad nights let's see . read more

my boyfriend and I called to see when they were closing. they said "we seat until 9 but we close at 10" me having worked as a server for a long time I figured okay we won't take super long so as long as we arrive before 9 we will be out long before they close. we arrive and there are some people in the restaurant. we are seated at a table in the dining area. a waitress comes up and asks what we want to drink and I feel like everything I said she was annoyed by. it made me feel extremely uncomfortable like she disliked us for some reason. honestly my boyfriend and I are the nicest people in the world to servers. I never ask for too much always say thank you since I was a server for so long I understand what they have to deal with and I appreciate someone serving me. we order almost immediately first she brings out my salad slams it on the table and when I saw her walking out she had her super long acrylic nail in the salad bowl in the dressing. and this was obvious to me from a distance. needless to say I was super grossed out but since she seemed so irritated I didn't feel comfortable asking for a new salad. honestly just her vibe was super unsettling to me and made me uncomfortable being there. then we get our food and are eating it's maybe 9:15-9:20 at this point and someone who works there starts sweeping right next to us. then everyone starts cleaning and clanking plates and silverware and screaming at eachother like we aren't even there. I can feel eyes on me and like 5 minutes into eating the server brings our check and asks if we want boxes. so this already makes me feel uncomfortable let alone the noise and cleaning around us and feeling like everyone is starting at us. the chicken in the drunken noodles tasted off and the dipping sauce for the vegetable tempura had no flavor (ponzu). but still we never said anything paid our check quickly and left. we called the next day and someone said they would send us a gift card and nothing Never received one. spent over $50 to be treated like shit and smile and take it because we're nice people. no one should be treated this way it was borderline bullying and I am honestly still disgusted at the experience we had. read more

I am a former local and went here with a friend when I was home over the holidays. It was a quiet Sunday night with a few bigger parties in the back at the hibachi tables. The atmosphere was chill and unrushed. Although our waitress did not know very much about the food or the wine that they served there (she claimed to not like fish or know much about sushi or wine - she should get on that stat!) she was very nice and told us what she knew others have raved about. We went with the Oneida and the Angel Hair rolls which were both SO surprisingly fresh and delicious. We also had very tasty shumai and gyoza. The bartender - Jackie, I think- taught us ( and the rest of the tables nearby) quite a bit in her loud, obnoxious voice. For example - 1) She puts the "ass in class". She may need a definition of the word 'class' if she believes that. 2) She is going to get the "s**t started this weekend" Fantastic but I don't care what her weekend plans are. Nor do I care to hear swearing by the wait staff. I expect it from customers (especially during happy hour) not from the so-called "classy" bartender. 3) People in Liverpool are "snotty middle class people who never leave Liverpool" If you're going to work in customer service, you should probably learn to keep your opinions to yourself. I was not the only offended by her statements, judging by the looks on other people's faces. I wouldn't mind visiting again, however, not if those are the type of people that work here. I wasn't even sitting at the bar. I was sitting at the tables surrounded by other families with kids that could hear her conversations. I'm just glad I used a Groupon so I didn't have to pay full price. Unless you like hearing swearing and idiotic opinions of people based on where they live, don't come here. Try Koto or Ichiban.
