Mitsuba is great! Rolled in Friday 5pm, no issues with getting seated right away. It did pick up as the evening progressed but no waits that I could see. The staff was friendly, helpful and on top of everything. Quick to support, quick to follow up and had a great system where they had servers consistently moving/watching over the dining room to quickly meet everyone's needs. The place itself is really nice inside, comfortable and cozy, even when busy it didn't feel noisy at all. My wife got an adult beverage and loved it. They kindly provided us a complimentary appetizer of Sushi unprompted which was a lovely surprise and delicious! For everything we ordered, edamame was a delightful starter and then we got 4 special sushi rolls and each one was a wonderful taste and blend of flavors. Stopped in here after a movie at the Movie Tavern today. We were seated immediately, hostess was nice and the restaurant was fairly empty. I ordered a Crazy Coconut roll, a small vegetable fried rice and a glass of wine, my wife had the same as I did except she got the Mango roll. After a few minutes we noticed the restaurant was almost full and it seemed we lost our waitresses to packing To Go orders. We got lucky and arrived at the perfect time. They brought us a complementary appetizer along with our wine. Food arrived shortly after that and the sushi rolls were excellent. We have eaten here several times and always have enjoyed our meal. Before our Costco visit last Saturday, we decided to try Mitsuba. The unassuming restaurant is located in a shopping plaza near Costco. You wouldn't know how beautiful the restaurant is inside if you were just walking by. There are lots of windows for natural light and buddha statues everywhere. The color selections for the walls and furniture are elegant and aesthetically pleasing. The sushi was excellent! I had California, spicy salmon, and shrimp tempura rolls with miso soup. My husband had California, spicy tuna, and Boston rolls with onion soup. They also brought us out a little tempura appetizer. We definitely left stuffed and satisfied. Our server was kind and efficient, we received our meals quite quickly. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant! read more

3.5 stars. This place is located in a busy mall area. We were seated immediately early on a Sunday though it was pretty packed. They have a happy hour (1/2 off certain appetizers and some drink specials). We tried edamame, tempura vegetables, a sushi deluxe and scallop hibachi (upgrade to noodles). Our table mates got a sushi boat and thai iced tea. I am glad I did not get a thai tea as it was very mostly milk. Edamame and tempura was standard (I did notice that the happy hour portion is proportional - the tempura portion was smaller than regular appetizer size, but still a good deal). I did overall enjoy the hibachi - scallops were cooked perfectly with good sear. I was disappointed in the noodles (they were thin greasy noodles without any tasty hibachi/grill taste and not worth the upcharge). The sushi was the most disappointing. Very thin slices of fish on huge chunks of rice. Sushi rice was slightly hard/not very tasty. The sushi boat had beautiful presentation - sushi looked similar to the sushi deluxe in that there was a large amount of rice. Overall we are glad we tried this place but not a standout. read more

We stopped at Mitsuba before a long back to back movie session last weekend. Never having been there, we were surprised by how affordable the prices were for lunch. And then we received our food! We were SO impressed by the presentation, and the flavor, of our food. The restaurant seemed like a nice setting for a casual lunch OR a date, with windows that lit the space we were sat in well. The commentary roll was tasty, before moving into our lunch plates that came with miso soup as well. The rolls I had were pretty good, the spicy yellowtail and the shrimp tempura (which had an upcharge). I was able to have a 3 course lunch for $21, which is mind blowing. Worst meal I've ever had and I wish I had read the reviews before because it seems to be people that get food delivered or takeout. I had ordered the hibachi lobster and scallops .My food was burnt. I also ordered a side of lo mein noodles that look like spaghetti that was just tinted a little bit. It had a burnt flavor to it and that was it. Very disappointed our first time ever ordering from there and trust me it'll be my last. It's not cheap to order especially lobster and scallops. I have to say, the plating on my deluxe sashimi is one of the more impressively over-the-top things I have received in central New York! It was exciting and fun. Props for that! I was with a very large group, and the staff worked very hard to see to everyone's needs. I ordered the deluxe sashimi and the tempura appetizer. I never got my soup (which I didn't realize until after I left) and had to ask for my tea, which I didn't get until close to the end of my meal. These things are pretty understandable with the chaos of tending to a group of like 40 people who mostly had separate checks, honestly, so I don't begrudge them too much, but I did spend a fair amount to not get all of my order. The tempura was really delicious. Lots of sweet potato type stuff, which is one of my favorites! The sashimi was a bit hit-or-miss. None of it really tasted off, but some of it was really stringy, with tough strands of connective tissue. Not something you want in sashimi- it should be tender and easy to eat. That's mostly why I'm giving only three stars here. The quality of a sushi place isn't to be found in the fancy deep-fried rolls with 4 different sauces. You can hide a lot with that. Nigiri (people around here just call it "sushi," which is the rice part of it) and sashimi are where you will find out how good it really is. That said, I'm coming back for the tempura. I saw people's tempura entrees, and there was enough in them for several meals. read more

My first experience with this Mitsuba was beyond lackluster, but we gave it another shot and all subsequent experiences have been great. The first time I ordered their three roll lunch special and they all came with hard, uneven rice that had finger marks all over them. However, the second time had a decent presentation and the fish tasted fresh, which was a huge improvement. Their chirashi lunch is a bit unique--usually all the fish comes on a bed of rice, but their version separates the rice from the fish. Chirashi comes in this giant dish with a color changing LED under a bed of ice cubes, which kind of reminds me of those fruity happy hour cocktails. The sushi rice is fair, but the fish was generously sliced and tasted fresh. It's decently priced at around $16. Will be back many more times and hoping the weird finger sushi rice was an off day. read more

This was located right next to wine and barrel. Ordered: steak hibachi lunch, small hot lychee sake, small hot pineapple sake, 2 specialty rolls that have cream cheese (I think called Yuki and something else?) Everything was great. Their spicy Mayo is quality!! The side miso soups were a great portion and very hot (some places it's already warm or closer to cold), the rolls were perfect amount fo crunch and the cream cheese in them were perfect temp. The hibachi lunch was well worth it - ordered the steak pieces medium rare and chose the fried rice which came in a separate bowl and large portioned. Long time since I had been here and we were craving sushi. Actually drove a short distance away from the one on the boulevard before we realized the menu is not the same and focus is on ramen and bowls. Much as we enjoy those, we were more interested in the offerings at the one in Camillus, so we reversed path and arrived on Saturday about 5:30pm. Amazing we hit the sweet spot and arrived with just a few tables filled, were quickly seated and watched as the place filled up immediately following our arrival. Maybe we were being followed, lol. The steady stream continued and we passed a short waiting line when leaving a little more than an hour later. On to the food! My friend got tempura and loved every bit of it sharing the broccoli she does not eat. Was light crunchy flavorful and broccoli was tender. I had the salad with ginger dressing which was perfect amount of lettuce and dressing. The edamame was good. The Atlantic Roll was tasty but did not have the tempura I expected based on the pic, just in the shrimp at the ends. All in all a good meal for the price. Service was good. The dining area was spacious with large booths and tables with chairs. Nice decorations and paintings. Lots of sushi choices. I ended up ordering a hibachi meal with New York steak and lobster. My meal came with a choice of salad or miso soup. The salad was a small iceberg drenched in an orange dressing that tasted gingery with miso. My dinner entree was cubes of steak and lobster tail split without the shell. There was slices of carrots, onions, and broccoli. Initially my husband received the wrong meal. That ended up being taken over to the customer on another table. I told the waiter I was missing steamed rice that came with my order. He tried telling me my husband's fried rice that cost $2 extra was mine. I said no mine came with steamed rice. The hibachi meal I ordered was okay.
