Y'all.... this is it. As a self-proclaimed sushi savant, Sake Haus is the place to go and within two visits became my favorite restaurant. Harumi may be the most popular sushi joint and certainly deserves to be mentioned, but Sake Haus blows them out of the water. Their omakase is an adventure of taste, and the quality of all of their sushi is almost unbelievable. Servers are always super knowledgeable and are a great reference if you're not familiar with something. The restaurant is fairly dim as others have mentioned, but it makes for a very romantic and intimate atmosphere. read more

TBH I didn't have high hopes for sushi by Pedal Haus owners. I was weary to say the least. I can't sing high enough praises though. First of all the staff are attentive, knowledgeable & on it. Nothing but love from the back of the house to the servers. Although one of the hostess could use a chat about condescension. ALWAYS start with the Wagyu Fat Pork Goyza! Our personal faves are the Sashimi, all are fan freankin' tastic. Chef Special roll faves are the 808 (which is now sadly gone) & PYT. Best Maki in my humble opinion Bad & Buri. The cocktails are great too & served in the most adorable glass ware but we love that they have the Lucky Cat. Just a great night every time we go. Came three minutes before the kitchen closed with my father, after walking around for two hours finding something that wasn't closed or allowed people under 21 inside. The manager kindly came in and we were able to get food. We've never been there before, and it was definitely worth the surprise trip. The restaurant had a really nice vibe to it, with red lights, candles, and beautiful decor. My father ordered the sashimi salad, and we both shared it and it was enough for both of us. Their sashimi was extremely delicious, and the ginger dressing was amazing. I ordered The Shogun, and it was equally as delicious. The wasabi aioli that came as a dressing for the maki roll worked well with the sushi itself. Their prices also aren't going to gouge you, with only a $25 charge for two people, and we ended up completely full by the end. This place has definitely earned a customer for years. read more

Sat at the bar. Bartender made me a Japanese whiskey drink with cucumber that was amazing. Food incredible. Best nigiris in town. The place is gorgeous and intimate with low lights perfect for dates. Only negative comment I have is that when we ask for wasabi (because we never got any wasabi or ginger) the check came with $2 for wasabi and $2 for another type of wasabi we didn't even asked! It's not the money, it's the principle! It lefts a bit of a sour taste. Definitely will give it another try tho. read more

This restaurant has been on my radar for the longest but finally decided to make a visit after re seeing it one night at first Friday. My friend made a reservation and we ended up going on a Thursday night. Food and drinks were great but our service was slow. I'd say that was probably the only downside to our first experience. Would I visit again? absolutely. The vibes are just really nice and it's def a good place to chill and catch up with friends. However if you're really hungry this may not be your spot. From the menu it looked like they were all small plates or appetizer style like. Really delicious just not big portions. If you need to use the restroom you have to go outside from the back door and enter the brewery. Overall great experience and good vibes read more

Visiting the area for my ASU student and wanted to try a new place after having eaten at Harumi several times. Overall disappointed in what you get for the price. Over $100 for 3 rolls, 2 nigiri (tuna and wagyu), edamame, and 3 bottled water. The 808 roll was a deconstructed spicy tuna roll. The tuna was not fresh and a little too fishy. The wagyu was good but not $13 for one piece good. Very overpriced for the quality and quantity. Since my parents owned a sushi bar for years and my dad is a sushi chef from Japan, I guess I may have higher standards for sushi. read more

it was explained that they pride themselves in curating a dish that does not need additional condiments. Our server let us know that they can provide Ginger and wasabi and soy sauce if requested but recommends trying the food before adding anything else. When we ate the food, they were right. They have created rolls that get right to the point of fresh and flavorful. The rolls that have jalapeños are amazing in that the jalapeños are used for their flavor with spicy kick that is not overwhelming. Each roll was unique and flavorful, plating was spectacular as well. Per usual sake was good too. First time trying it during super bowl weekend and would recommend if you're in the area! read more

This place is way overpriced. Not that I am cheap, I regularly drop $100 on myself for sushi, but this simply was not worth it. The cocktails FYI are all premade mixes, so they just pour it out of a bottle. I got a $20 lemongrass gin creation that wasn't strong at all and overly sweet. They also underpoured. Do not get cocktails here. Food wise - shisitos were under seasoned. Almost no flavor. Ended up needing to dunk them in soy sauce. Both friend and I got the Kin nigiri set and shared two rolls. We typically can eat a lot more but didn't feel compelled to order more food after .... everything was just okay, and the rolls are just too small. As far as the signature nigiri, nothing really stood out. The concept reminds me a bit of Across The Pond, which is priced and portioned similarly but the flavor blows these offerings away. I would highly recommend trying them instead. Almost forgot to mention you are charged for wasabi ($2, not even fresh) and have to ask for Soy. Which, would be fine, if the food didn't need it. I never thought I would give a sushi restaurant five stars. I don't generally eat seafood but I am very thankful I made an exception at sake haus. The menu had many unique options and I was pleasantly surprised by everything we ordered. I am gluten-free and the chef was very accommodating. They also had a great cocktail and sake menu. I will be thinking and talking about this place for a long time......I come from Las Vegas where we are so used to AYCE sushi so the quality is always just OK but wow this has completely changed the game for me. Each bite was so perfect and just melted right in your mouth. We had to order twice of the same roll because it was THAT good. Gyoza was so flavorful, although it was only 3 pieces....I would order it again and again. Shishito peppers were also 10/10...and it was a great pairing to the already amazing food we ordered!!! It was good sushi! I've got experience with sushi from the midwest, and sushi from Los Angeles, so sushi from Phoenix is a great middleground and this is would be a solid middleground between the two states. Got a few critiques though. Firstly, the wait. Poor chefs were working their tails off. The restaurant is way too big for 4 guys if you're opening up the whole restaurant on a Friday. We waited 45 minutes for our ticket to come up. And that was for our first round of edamame. Secondly, and most glaringly, let me be abundantly clear to the owners: you are not Nobu... leave soy sauce. The quality of your fish is not NEARLY fresh enough to compensate for zero salt in the dish, and neither is Nobu's. Just leave the soy sauce. Your drink menu should also not be as expensive as it is, considering Nebraska has cheaper prices per ounce of hard to find import sake. Unless you're paying your staff L.A. wages, dont charge L.A. prices. Good food. Very communicative waitstaff. Wont be back. read more

We had the 808 and the Baked AF, both pretty good rolls. I especially like the Baked AF which had a bit of sweet, salty, and savory. We had two seaweed salads which were jazzed up a bit with mixed greens and house dressing were phenomenal. One of the better seaweed salads around. Huge selection of Sake, as the name suggests, we split a bottle of a recommended cold sake and Japanese beer. Very delicious but I didn't catch the sake name; it was cloudy with a rose flavor. Cool place. Since the place is new and there was no menu (and mainly, i am not from AZ) we just walked in without any expectation and wanted to grab some small bites before a concert. Well, the interior design and atmosphere was really nice - retro, hawaiian and japanese feeling everywhere, definitely a hip place. Im into whisky and they did have a great selection and the bar was really pretty. However, the food was just average. Im from the state where tons of sushi places and izakaya so maybe thats why. I ordered 5 pcs of nigiri omakase but it was just average. I personally dislike seared sushi, so i didnt like it. Eggplant sushi was very interesting and the roll was okay too. For the price, I definitely wont come back but it was pretty place. read more

You were also the manager who dropped food off when we had already closed and we're about to leave. I actually appreciate that you passed my review around. Maybe your staff will learn something from it and do better for your customers who are spending $500+ dollars. And in response to your tacky accusation of taking "cali edibles:" I wish I had taken edibles. It would have made the experience slightly better. But the blood shot look in your eyes when you had dropped off the last plate without saying anything about our terrible experience tells me that maybe you hit that plate of brownies hard. It is expensive but very good. I met some friends for drinks and appetizers here and it was a cool spot. It is not very big and it is in the heart of the Roosevelt district which is no longer the dive ghetto I remember from over 20 years ago. This review is for my second visit to Sake Haus. I gave it a another shot and I would like to take back my first review. The owner Dan listened to my review and told me that they tried out a new rice for the day that I went - hence the hard rice. The second visit they proved me wrong. I tried the orange blossom (salmon), Nigiri Gold, shishito peppers, bad&Buri, and the 808, sake, and some cocktails. The salmon and nigiri was extremely fresh. This is the best nigiri/salmon I've had since moving to Arizona from Hawaii. The 808 was nice. It was Poke on a sushi roll. The shishito pepper was unique! I've never had anything like that before. Im glad I came back a second time because this is now my favorite sushi place in Arizona. The sashimi can't get fresher than this. Not to mention the atmosphere is fantastic.
