We have been here a few different times. The inside decor is dark and fun all at the same time. It's a great vibe and if you sit outside it's great for people watching on Roosevelt Row. Great sake selection with lots of different unique sakes. Try the sake flight. It's worth it. They have a new gyoza appetizer that was delicious but with only 3 pieces I was left wishing for more. I LOVE sake, so when I saw a place called "sake haus" was opening soon I put it on my "must go" list. We live a bit far from downtown so finally got the chance to go in June when we went "restaurant-hopping" on Roosevelt Row and it was awesome!! FOOD: We weren't there for a full dinner so didn't get to try that much but we had several different "signature" Nigiri (which they dress a special way) and overall it was very good quality fish and we loved the unique tastes. I would totally go more often if they had more non-sushi izakaya type of food (but I also think the mainly sushi style is fitting for the restaurant atmosphere) DRINKS: Their sake list is pretty awesome!! I used to live in Southern California and went to dozens of Japanese restaurants, but most of them have boring sake lists (I like to compare them to carrying only mainstream cheap beers like bud light) and only a handful of restaurants had interesting/different sakes. Sake Haus carries some unique sakes that I've seen/enjoyed but also some I've never heard of before! Unfortunately I only got to try a few types since most of the Sake was large bottles so looking forward to coming back to try more! SERVICE/AMBIANCE: We sat at the bar and the lady behind the counter was amazing, so service was great. The ambiance is kinda dark, more of a loud bar type of feel, and due to that and the menu being mostly sushi (we love sushi but get too full with all that rice) we didn't stay too long. We loved it here! We stopped in for a quick bite before heading to a concert and it was great. Amazing service and ambiance. Super efficient waitstaff. We ordered the Shogun roll and the Ryujin roll. Both were amazing! The shogun was zesty and the Ryujin was the perfect amount of spicy. We also ordered the Crimes of Passion, a Toshi Old Fashion, and a For All My Friends and all were great! We also ordered The Shogun, salmon shiso with jalapenos and lemon atop a wasabi aioli. The final roll we ordered was The Ronin, which was an eel rolled with cucumber and avocado with umami reduction. Moreover, I would recommend the Chef Special; The Akuma, seared tuna topped with avo sauce, ginger dressing, wasabi aioli, and roe. This was my favorite dish overall of the night! The people here have amazing recommendations. I always do the omakase premium. They have the best fish selection. Along with the wagyu potstickers and Wagyu nigiri is a must try. We always go for the lychee margaritas or a sake bottle. The lighting is dim but great place to talk and enjoy some light music. read more

We ate here for the first time last night. The space is beautiful and welcoming. It is great to see murals on the walls painted by local artists and to see restaurants like Sake Haus supporting local artists. Now about the sushi - I've had sushi in LA, NYC, and other places in the world including Tokyo and the sushi here is top notch. The creativity and artistry of Chef Asa is phenomenal, he makes unique sushi with flavor combinations that explode in your mouth. We had the Kin and it was mouthwatering delicious! The hostess were very nice let us get a table inside, over 90 degrees and 10pm definitely not eating outside weather. And yes it is a small space you will definitely be right next to other groups but great night life environment! Our server let us know some of the more popular items at their restaurant. We ordered the 808, the poke was on top and the sushi was at the bottom, definitely a different presentation that what I was used to. This is probably some of the best sushi I have had in Phoenix so far! To be honest, I wasn't expecting much the first time I ate there but I was pleasantly surprised. The menu was great and they constantly have chef specials. The fish tasted amazingly fresh and delicate. The wait staff is also fantastic - very informed on the menu and attentive. I also love their Sake selection. I don't know if I have ever seen such an extensive sake menu. The restaurant is a bit cozy, but not cramped, and I love the overall vibe in there. There is some great artwork on the walls. Would highly recommend this place :) read more

I had an ok experience after being really hyped for this restaurant. The sushi itself is great but I have to warn people that it can be very pricey depending on what you get. What bothered me was I ordered one of their specialty rolls and it never came out. the waiter kept swinging by every 5 minutes to let me know it will only take a few more moments. By then me and my friends had finished eating everything else we ordered. The waiter had came back to give us our checks but completely forgot about my order. The waiter said she would take care of it and still bring out my roll. After about another 30 minutes of waiting, the roll finally came out. By then I lost all excitement in eating and the lady didn't waive the charge. Instead of calling it out, I decided to just pay for it and leave. Is the sushi good? Yes it is. Vibes are dope, it sure feels like I'm in Tokyo. Drinks are good to. I just think their service could be better. read more

Such a great time at Sake House. From ambiance to service, to food, everything was very well presented, worth the visit and the overall experience. Food: delicious and very fresh with great presentation. It was on the pricy side, 1 piece of nigiri will run you about $6-8 so times that by 2 which is what you typically want when you order nigiri, the bill can start to run up quick. But again fresh and melt in your mouth fish. The shishito peppers were my favorite, we ordered 2 rounds and I really loved the Bad & Buri roll. The menu is chef curated and changes consistently so what we had may not be on the menu next time. They suggest no soy sauce (although they will give you some if you ask) and we ate every roll without it as suggested, although dipping is habitual sometimes. Drinks: they have a wide variety of Japanese beers and whiskeys. These are seasonal as well I believe, fun to try out the different beers in comparison to what we drink often at local brewery's. Ambiance: viby music, cool decor, intimate set up. Red lighting so eyes had to adjust but it was a total vibe walking in and seeing all the art work. Would recommend for date night or a couple close friends. Service: the waitress we had was awesome. She constantly checked on us and I have to say I love when servers consistently come and clean off your table. It just adds an element of care most restaurants don't do. I am huge on service so little things like always cleaning my table or checking my water is full, will make me a loyal customer. The GM was walking around, gave us a really cool story about the chefs care in preparing the fish and just made genuine effort to connect. Love that personal touch. read more

Came three minutes before the kitchen closed with my father, after walking around for two hours finding something that wasn't closed or allowed people under 21 inside. The manager kindly came in and we were able to get food. We've never been there before, and it was definitely worth the surprise trip. The restaurant had a really nice vibe to it, with red lights, candles, and beautiful decor. My father ordered the sashimi salad, and we both shared it and it was enough for both of us. Their sashimi was extremely delicious, and the ginger dressing was amazing. I ordered The Shogun, and it was equally as delicious. The wasabi aioli that came as a dressing for the maki roll worked well with the sushi itself. Their prices also aren't going to gouge you, with only a $25 charge for two people, and we ended up completely full by the end. This place has definitely earned a customer for years. read more

I've been here plenty of times, (alone , in groups , on dates , with the family etc...) , since they opened and I like everything I've tried so to me , why bother with details dissecting the food. Only negative comment I have is that when we ask for wasabi (because we never got any wasabi or ginger) the check came with $2 for wasabi and $2 for another type of wasabi we didn't even asked! Five women walked into a bar for happy hour - two vegetarians, one pescatarian, and two omnivores. Is this the start of a joke? It's a very tasty one, if so. We happily settled in, jamming out to the music selections on their speakers, and ordering a few drinks. I wish the beer selections were listed, so we could make a better decision on what to order (flavor, style, price). Also, two of us ordered soda waters, which were especially bubbly and lovely, but we weren't told that it was a two dollar cost. Not a lot and not an issue, but I just wanted to be better informed as we moved along. Communication is everything. We got two orders of edamame and then we went all out on the rolls. Only the maki rolls are on happy hour so we made our way through the listing. I'll tell you right now that all of the rolls I ordered were really very, very good. Fresh seafood and great flavors, along with nicely balanced textures. Considering the price of most sushi places around here, this is more expensive, yes. But is it worth it? Perhaps, depending on what you're looking for. For me, yes the rolls were worth it for the happy hour price. I felt like I got a steal! But on a regular evening, I'd probably wonder how my bill got so high, so be aware and ask questions. I started out with the Ronin, which has eel and an umami reduction. Absolutely delicious. Next came the Kyuubi, which has salmon two ways topped with lemon and dill. Oh this was so good! I slowed down to really savor the flavors in this. My last roll was the Hana (I didn't eat lunch, don't judge me!) and that was snow crab with Thai basil in a soy paper roll. I loved the Thai inspired flavor in it. All of them were amazing.
