Our our server, Vivian was outstanding. She explained the different menu items to different options, engaged in what we were looking for what we liked. She made the experience perfect. The food was fresh seasoned very well and had very crisp taste

I am so obsessed with Obon! My favorite thing is the Hamachi sashimi. The flavors are unreal and it's always so fresh. I also love the spicy tuna crispy rice! And they really have a fantastic brunch menu as well. I love all of the Benedict's and the French toast, which is milk bread is super good. The service is always very friendly and has a nice ambience downtown.

Obon sits right in the heart of downtown Phoenix and fully embraces that prime location. The space is large, beautifully designed, and immaculately curated, with a standout rectangular bar that opens to both indoor and outdoor seating--perfect for the steady foot traffic and energy around it. It's lively and a bit loud, especially in the evening, but that fits the vibe. Service was warm, attentive and efficient, and the presentation is strong. The food is flavorful and well-executed, though portion balance is something to keep in mind. A roll I ordered was heavily rice-forward with minimal filling--still tasty thanks to sauces, but at a $23 price point, this is something worth noting. Overall, OBON delivers a great downtown experience--just go in knowing you're paying as much (or more) for the atmosphere and location than for the food.

Had my birthday lunch here and it was perfect. We were seated in this little section with the cushy seats and it fit our large group perfect. The hanging lanterns were so pretty and made the restaurant feel warm! The staff was nice and even gifted me a free dessert and sparkler for my birthday! Ordered tons of food but I only managed to take a photo of the sushi roll which was yummy and fresh haha. Great experience we love Obon! I made the reservation online but when I needed to make a change I just called in and they were able to accommodate. Recommend this place if you like sushi and ramen, go for your birthday! (:

First time here and everything was so good and fresh, everything was packed with flavor and color, each dish was colorful. We really enjoyed eating here. Place was nice inside and clean.

Definitely my new favorite sushi spot! I loved the botanical-Industrial vibe. Our server Lorina was amazing! She provided great recommendations. The Neo-Genesis Roll remains the absolute GOAT of their signature menu. It has a great balance, The Heat, Freshness and That Chile Sesame Ponzu sauce equals deliciousness! They have a great selection of cocktails for happy hour as well as special food items. Next I want to try their bird buns - Steamed buns with spicy fried chicken.

Wow wow wow. Such amazing food! We got the iron belly appetizer which was so delicious. We also ordered the yellow tail which was so fresh and good. The yellowtail nigri was also delicious. We got two rolls which were okay, they were fresh but wish they just had a bit more flavor. The drinks were good, the customer service was great. The vibes were amazing. I will definitely be back.

Visited Obon for the very first time today!! I absolutely love the decor inside. Great vibes all around. I ordered some avocado rolls and iced tea and it was delicious. Our server was fantastic also and very friendly.

First time here and I'm in love. Came for the brunch menu and it was 10/10!! The interior decor reminds me so much of Japan, love the wooden and traditional look. Started off with Matcha/earl grey with ube foam. Wow, I love this drink! I've foam is light and fluffy and not sweet! The matcha is mixed with earl grey so it was like drinking an earl grey milk tea with matcha undertone. The omurice was so good! The egg was nice and fluffy and the sauce over the eggs makes everything much more flavorful. I would definitely come back for this dish. The Obon French toast was delicious! The bread was fluffy and the berries is soaked in yuzu so it gives the dish a nice citrus kick with the creamy sauce over the toast. Lastly is the yuzu sashimi, 10/10, love the yuzu sauce over this dish! The yellowtail is nice and fresh. I would definitely come back to try more items on the brunch menu!

Ive been going to the Obon in Scottsdale so im happy they opened one here! The ramen bowls are huge! For someone like me I would just share a bowl with a friend, but most people can finish it so idk. I feel like the cucumber salad in kierland commons Obon has more sauce and seasoning? And the shrimp boa bun didn't have sauce (which in sure it usually does) But the ramen was great, just what I needed for my ramen craving and the waiter was very attentive. The wait time for the food after ordering did take a while, which I don't mind, but if you're starving or in a hurry you might.

Busy at 9pm on a Friday night but seated promptly without reservations. Parking is tricky which is to be expected downtown. Clean restrooms which is always a welcome surprise for downtown spots. Super friendly staff even with a packed dining room. Food comes out as it's ready instead of in courses. Service was a little slow but understandable given it was a Friday game night. We loved everything we ordered and were stuffed by the time we left. The balance of flavors with the citrus, bitterness of the microgreens, and freshness of the Yuzu Yellowtail was perfection. Veggie ramen was really tasty and definitely some heat with the fresno chilis. The Crispy Rice Trio was different in a good way, and nice to have bites of each.

Been to this place couple of times now. The ambiance is really nice here and ramen I've tried was also very delicious. The only issue has been their service, which was very slow and took almost an hour to get food during lunch time, otherwise very decent place.

I had such a great experience here! The food was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. You can really tell they put care into every dish. The service was phenomenal as well. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel welcoming and smooth from start to finish. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to and recommending!

Main level/Upstairs vibe is well-lit with a true cantina bar feel. High-top tables, seats at the bar & happy hour from 4-7 pm make it ideal for some $7 drinks!!. The collection of Tequilas is GREAT. Many of which do not contain additives. I won't lie, I thought I was a big fan until I realized I didn't recognize a lot of the tequilas they had on hand. Downstairs is a whole different vibe. Custom craft cocktails, dim lighting with artwork, and more make it feel like an upscale NYC spot in your basement. I did 2 of my favorites, Paloma De Guayaba with the custom block name etched and the Baya Nueva. While in the Cantina, I had to order my friend the Basura (trash), but that wasn't the case... then again, it is served in a plastic bag, and is definitely a throwback to my early 20's of gettin' lit!!!! It was busy, but not packed, which made the service stand out more than it should have. I had to ask for water twice, never got a refill, and overall felt largely ignored--minimal eye contact, no real warmth, just an impersonal feel that didn't match the space. It felt like a place that may be a bit of a victim of its own success--popularity has grown, but delivery hasn't fully kept pace. Part of the appeal here is the permanent taco truck outside, which I know from past visits is excellent, and I love the truck's outspoken, unapologetic support for immigrants. That said, the cocktail itself was excellent. I was specifically looking for a coffee-based drink before heading to another event, and the Cambures al Estilo Foster delivered on flavor. It was tiny, though--served in a small stemmed glass, gone in a few sips. It did the job, but some may find the portion underwhelming for the price. No major complaints, but nothing pulling me back either. I'm adding a fourth star on a bit of a hunch--I'd like to think they can dial it back in if I return.

This was not an issue, just one that was interesting, though the layout is small and the bathroom door is behind the bar seats, so it isn't the most comfortable location given the tight squeeze with foot traffic. The menu seemed focused on the cocktails, with a mixture of what might be considered and appetizer or main course mixed together. We got the watermelon and cucumber salad to start, thinking it would be refreshing after a long walk there in the heat. Both of us were shocked when the first notes of the watermelon were spicy. We read the menu and then understood that this was not meant to be a light bite. It was very enjoyable, but just a different taste than expected. We also got the Dan Dan Noodles. This had the spice expected. What was interesting was that the spices were almost exactly the same to the watermelon and cucumber salad. Not bad, but we probably would have ordered a different starter. We also ordered the streak bowl and the foccaccia with ricotta. The steak was incredible, and the highlight of the meal. This would have been better with more egg..not sure one full egg wad used? and less rice. The focaccia was warm and the ricotta with honey a nice palate cleanser before and after the meal. Overall, the food was good and the prices reasonable for the types of dishes. The old fashioned had nice herbal notes, and the service was quick.

My party and I had a reservation on a Saturday night at 9pm (when it's 13 people, what can you do). What kind of sucked though (and mainly why I'm deducting a star) is that we did wait an additional half hour to be seated after our reservation time. Our theory is that they didn't think the entire party would actually arrive, and they were not ready to accommodate us. To be fair, the restaurant IS on the smaller side, but there was 0 communication during that half hour on what was going on... which isn't really good for us either. We got the original set, and this somewhat confused me as well. The food was really good, and was definitely a restaurant that I'd go to for the experience, but for some reason some of the meats were doubled while others weren't. The double portions were really nice since our party was so large, we needed to split the food between 4 different grills (so each table got 2 grills each, feeding 6-7 people in total or 3-4 people per grill), but then we had to share the portions where we only got one serving. It wasn't bad, but to me, didn't make sense. The food was really good though; I didn't care too much about the soup, but the green sauce was SO good. Mixing a little with the soup was incredible. I thought the beef and pork were really good. I personally left the restaurant full, but many others in my party did not. I think it's a really good amount of food for 2 people, but when you push to 3+, you probably do not want to come hungry. Also--the live music at Pemberton next door is SO LOUD, you're going to be shouting at your table the entire night when you sit outside. I think I would come back if I wanted to show this place to someone who didn't live here, but it isn't on the top of my list for when I'm trying to eat out, but I will definitely consider this for special date night occasions. It is extremely expensive for what it is though. For $70+ you risk the chance of leaving not full which SUCKS.
