First time there and it was OK. We will give it another visit and try the Sushi. Service- 5/5 Very quick service from the host, server and the hot meal arrived quickly as well. Food- 3.5/5 Hot and fresh but the flavor didn't hit the mark for either of us. Value- 5/5 Very fair pricing. Specials include Sushi discounts Mon-Wed. The 4 item plus soup plate was very reasonable and is a good one if you want to try out several dishes. Dining area- 3.5/5 Needs a creative and welcoming touch. It was very quiet, background music would be nice.

We've been here several times and the result has always been the same - mediocre food and terrible service. Tonight we sat at the bar and there were a few other folks having dinner/drinks, the restaurant area was mostly empty but the place was a disaster. Empty plates and dirty dishes everywhere, we had to push aside dirty glasses and invoices from our spot at the bar. The server eventually came over and ask if we wanted some drinks - I ordered a beer and the wife needed more time. The server wandered around and came back about 10 minutes later without my beer and asked if we wanted drinks and food. WTF? Yes, yes we do. We want both. We were about to walk out right before she came back, and we probably should have left at that time. The drink and food order was taken (appetizers, house fried rice, and sweet sour pork). Eventually our drinks arrived but yet the dirty dishes remained throughout the bar area. One poor guy tried to sit at the bar but couldn't find a spot due to the garbage left behind. To no great surprise, the appetizers came out at the same time as the meal and were cold and hard. The house fried rice was decent but the sweet & sour pork was hard and numerous pieces were overcooked - a hard shell surrounded small pieces of dried out meat in the middle. Yummy. We collected our check and left. A couple of guys at the bar were razzing the server about not being able to get served, and they too eventually left. The server was friendly but clearly needed more help to keep up with the dinner crowd and busing the tables.

I'm a Chinese food junkie. Luckily, Milford is a haven for people like me. There is stiff competition in the form of 6 Chinese restaurants within a 5 minute drive of the Milford oval. That being the case, Sake House triumphs over them all. Sake House presents itself as a Sushi/Hibachi restaurant, neither fronts of which I have really sampled. I have, however, had many lunches from their typical Americanized Chinese offerings, and all of them have been great. Their vegetables are very fresh, and you get a relatively diverse selection of them in their chicken/steak/pork and vegetable stir fries. Their base sauces are spectacular, and their garlic sauce should be outlawed for addictive qualities. Their portions are very generous, and all of their lunch combos come with your choice of soup. It's a wonderful value I believe. This location also offers a lunch buffet, however it's modified from what you would typically classify as a buffet, but all for the better. For this experience, you grab a buffet menu, order 4 items, and those 4 items are prepared for you fresh (!!!) and they bring it out to you on a plate that appears to be the size and shape of an upside down trash can lid. If you are a mad man and you desire more, you order in batches of 2 from there on out. I have done this buffet before, and if you can make it past the first 4 items, write me a personal message and I will give you a gold star. I also want to make note of their bar, located to the left when you first walk in. It's a great, clean place, with two 50" HDTV's. It's a great place to hideaway and watch some news and/or Sportscenter. I love it and I believe that most of you would too. Finally, sushi is half price Mon/Tues/Wed. If you're into that sort of thing.

We tried the Sake House in Milford several times. When you are seated, you have a choice of a normal booth or a hibachi booth. On our first visit, we chose the normal booth. A couple came in a short time later with their kids and sat at the hibachi booth. They were getting so entertained that we decided to try it on our next visit. The chef cooked and served the meal right from the center of the booth area, and he really put on a show for the kids. The food we were served was among the best we'd had in quite a while. We tried several appetizers. The Peking ravioli were excellent. The soups came in small and large sizes - we got the small and that was equivalent in size to what we get at other restaurants. We tried lots of noodle dishes - all were fantastic. My youngest son thought the veggie fried rice was the best he's ever had. The chicken pad thai was excellent - very flavorful. I'll post some pictures of the food. We went back to the Saki House a short time later to try the Hibachi experience with the kids. The prices are based on the type of meat you order. A chicken hibachi is about $16, beef is about $18, and so on. We all tried the chicken hibachi, which comes with 2 shrimp, a hibachi soup, and a salad. The soup was beef broth based, and came with a couple veggies in it. The salad came with a creamy dressing that had a slight sesame flavor. Part of the hibachi experience is the entertainment factor;. The food is cooked right in front of you, and the cook will entertain you as the food is prepared and cooked. You get fried rice, the meat you ordered, 2 shrimps, and grilled mixed veggies, along with the soup and salad included with the cost of the meal. Sake House participates in restaurant.com so you can save a bit on the cost by getting a certificate for your meal.

So the wife and i got some Sake House for dinner last night. I decided to save my egg roll for today. I heated it up and was planning to indulge in some awesomeness when i thought to cut it in half first to make it easier to dip into the mustard. Good think I did... i found what appears to be a mop string inside that the knife had trouble with. I pulled it out and sure enough... it's a fucking mop string. I will no longer be going to Sake House in Milford... i have tossed their menus. Pissed...

They kept my Dasher informed so the service was excellent. The Gyoza was excellent, and the Chicken - filet mignon Hibachi was well beyond my expectation. I will definitely be ordering again!! I can't speak to ambiance, but I am sure it's lovely. I can't wait for next time! Such a treat! Don't mind the picture- I didn't want to even take the lid off before I took it. So well packaged!!

It's not authentic Japanese, it's an interpretation of Japanese by Chinese workers and Cooks. Also, Chinese service isn't great and the waiter here isn't attentive and a bit too casual for my taste. The food itself is just acceptable, and for the price not great. The atmosphere also still is pretty weak, and the restaurant is small. It's sort of almost like a hole on the wall. On the West Coast, I've eaten at over 30 authentic Japanese restaurants, and for those of you who aren't Japanese restaurant or sushi aficionados... This food is probably fine. If you know we're good, Japanese food is, don't come here and frankly you may need to drive to Boston to get it.

For an appetizer, I got seaweed salad which was good, but a little overdressed with sesame oil. For my main, I ordered salmon sashimi and it was perfection. The right temp, very fresh, excellent texture and flavor. I also ordered the dynamite roll which is expertly balanced - sweet/savory, soft/crispy, awesome flavor and texture. I would come back for that roll alone. At $15.50 per roll, it's not cheap, but it's 100% worth the cost. The don curry was also really good and my friend said she'd come back for this dish any time she's in town. She actually ordered curry to try to recreate this at home while we were waiting for the check. Service was fast and friendly. We have nothing but great things to say about it. Next time we will try hibachi.

Lots of nooks and crannies, including an L-shaped bar, before you get to the main dining room. VERY lengthy menu comprising at least four Asian cuisines. My wife and I tried 10 dishes over two visits. -- Scallion Pancake: My wife chose this. Not exactly blazing new ground, but light, crispy, more scallion flavor than most, and ginger dipping sauce darker, thicker, clingier, and tastier than most. Above average. -- Cold Noodles with Sesame Sauce: Gotta mix this all up to get all the flavors distributed. Thin noodles, softer than most, and mildly spicy sauce saucier than most-- meaning it somewhat overpowered the noodles textually. Taste wise, no problem. Average. -- Singapore Chow Mei Fun Noodles with Tofu: This is my wife's dish and her domain. She's pretty particular about how she wants her noodles, and she was pleased that this rendition was neither too wet nor too sweet. Thumbs up from her. I tried a small bite and agreed. Above average. -- Biang Biang Noodles with Spicy Cumin Lamb: My favorite dish of the day and a pleasure both taste wise and texture wise. Long, thick noodles that felt homemade, not too sticky, not impossible to break, and nice wiggle. Not particularly spicy in the hot pepper way, but very spicy in the flavor way, with the cumin, as well as complementary vegetables. I've had this dish in a bunch of places and I gotta say this was the freshest I've ever had the lamb. Just enough liquid to make it work while letting the noodles and lamb shine. Well above average. Some heat would bring it over the top. -- Fish Filets in Sichuan Hot Chili Broth: Standard dish, solid execution with no surprises. Very tender fish, perhaps a little fuller if cut than most and a bit less spicy than most. Average, but not a bad average-- this dish is usually good and so was this rendition. -- Honey Spareribs: The second visit started with a dud here, as the ribs looked and felt very old. Honey glaze with odd cinnamony notes couldn't hide the dryness. I sent them back and they took them off the bill. -- Cucumber and Fungus in Vinegar Sauce: A cool, refreshing dish with the cukes well marinated but still crisp to the bite. -- Mini Pork Buns: Small (grape-sized) balls of pork surrounded by bao dough, steamed and lightly fried, served with a sweetened soy sauce. Not bad, not remarkable. --Sautéed String Beans: Thin, moist, cooked through but still retaining snap, slightly blackened in a good way, and accented with salty fermented bits. Very nicely done, though not spicy as billed. -- Ma Po Tofu without Meat: Soft, silky tofu and a smooth, mildly spicy sauce without any bits and pieces to add interest. Good flavor but a little one-note. Good service. You don't often get full service, never mind good service, at a hand pulled noodle joint, so this was a pleasant surprise. The interpretations of classic dishes were different enough that I can see some naysayers, but I mostly liked mostly everything, with the first visit very strong and the second a bit of a drop off. Very good value, as the volume of servings was higher than most and the pricing was lower than most. HUGE menu. Some might say too huge, too ambitious, and I agree. But as long as the execution is there in a few key dishes-- like the biang biang noodles I'll mostly stick to--I'm happy. My wife likes it, so there'll be more visits.
