I've been giving this place multiple chances to redeem themselves, because it is so close to my home. Yet I'm still poorly satisfied each time. Tonight when I ordered my hibachi chicken dinner, I found a thick black hair in my food, when I called the waitress over she basically accused me of lying and told me that no one had "gold hair" at their restaurant. I had a really great experience at this sushi place! Right when I walked in everyone was very welcoming and friendly, I sat at the sushi bar. The service was so quick!! I had a strawberry mojito, it was tasty but I did wish it was a tad sweeter for a mojito. I also ordered the shrimp poke bowl (delicious and beautifully prepared) and the avacodo bombs I believe they are called and wow those were sooooooo good!! Tried to order the Cream Cheese Wontons and they didn't have the ingredients to make them. Also tried to order the Salmon and Avocado Roll and they couldn't make that either :( They suggested the King Crab Avocado Roll in its place. EACH and EVERY piece of the roll had large, sharp pieces of crab shell. It was disgusting and I'm not sure how it was missed in the making of the roll. This place is terrible! Flat soda pop. Ikura that smelled like rotten fish. Unagi eel that was hard and cold, not served warm like its suppose to be. Most of the fish is just blah, poor cuts and not super fresh. They don't have a clue how to make sushi rice, they serve day old cold hard sushi rice. I have been here twice and both times were very bad, I won't be back. This is a real shame that American strip mall sushi has to come to this, the authentic Japanese would be appalled if they ate at this place. It appears most people don't know good sushi from bad sushi given all of the positive reviews of this place. And they charge the same price as top shelf sushi restaurants, don't waste your time or money here. There are much better sushi restaurants in the Minneapolis area. read more

This is an exceptional restaurant. My family has eaten here (including take-out) four times. Each meal was way beyond expectations. The dining room is not what anyone would expect to find in a suburban strip mall - shadowy, comfortable, functional, and relaxed. The people who work here are very good at what they do. Kitchen, sushi chefs, waitstaff, front-of-house are all there for one reason - to see that you have the best dining experience possible. It's nice to eat in a place where the staff is so obviously glad to have you there. I would rate their food the equal of any other Japanese restaurant in Minnesota. They wisely keep the sushi selections limited to what they can provide with the utmost freshness while maintaining an impressive variety. The rest of the menu is extensive, and from what I've tried so far, very well executed. Some plates are so well composed that it is a shame to eat them. Prices are reasonable. Sushi prices are about the same as Target/Byerly's, but the quality is at a much higher level, as you would expect. Once Sake Sushi gets its liquor license (in a week or two) I will never have to drive any farther to enjoy quality Japanese cuisine. read more

We were driving from southern MN St. Paul for a conference and saw this place on the road. So glad we stopped! Service was great and very friendly. Sushi was delicious! I can't remember the name of it- but our favorite was the fried shrimp topped with filet minion! Yumm! Have yet to see something like that on any other sushi menu. Great serving sizes too. This place is a great little gem in Chaska. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. The ambiance in the restaurant is very good and it is kept very clean. I truly hope this restaurant does very well as I have seen too many restaurants fail in that location. The prices are fair, I wouldn't say overpriced, but I wouldn't say cheap either. We finally checked out the newest restaurant in Chaska. I was a little skeptical with the low rent, strip mall exterior. However, the interior is much nicer. We only had takeout sushi on this first visit. The Angry Dragon, Yum Yum (w/tuna subbed for eel) and Amazing Tuna specialty rolls were what we ordered. All were very good. You get 8 pieces per roll, although some pieces were a little on the small side. We will definitely be back. The fire cracker shrimp and calamari aps sound good. Not sure where they fire up the hibachi stuff (they didn't have a grill table) but I'd be willing to check that out too. Ignore the tacky exterior and enjoy. read more

Ordered the spider roll along with California and enjoyed it very much. The green tea fried ice cream could have used a little more ice cream but it was still delicious. I was disappointed by the bits of crab shell were in my wife's sushi. I can't remember what she ordered, was still edible, but it was sharp and we obviously took the shell out. I ordered sushi last night & had my husband pick it up to bring home for dinner. Online menu sucks, doesn't tell you what is in each roll. So I just ordered 2 "plain" rolls and a side of rice. Well, he comes home with someone else's order, they assured him that "this is it, this is what your wife ordered" okay well no. It was 3 raw salmon rolls. I called asked for a refund "no we can't, I'll give you 10% off your next purchase" uhhhh, that's not how it works. You gave me food I won't even eat & you messed up. I've never had sushi before and wasn't convinced I would like it. My husband and I ordered the sushi appetizer, edemame, BMW rolls, and hibachi chicken. The food was absolutely fantastic! While I wasn't a fan of all the cuts of fish I tried, the quality was undeniable. The service was great as well. This place is such a hidden gem out in Chaska! Time and time again this place impresses me with such incredibly delicious sushi. I have been to numerous places in the twin cities area and I have to say none of them have impressed me like Sake has. I am a huge fan of their BMW roll, which in my opinion, is the best BMW roll I've ever had. What impresses me is how crispy the roll is, it's absolutely perfect. My wife and I went to there on Saturday, the waitress kind forces us to sat on the sushi bar, but we sat at a table. The waitress seems so unpleasant and impatient. We asked some recommendation for the sushi, she just said no idea. We ordered some sushi rolls and hibachi, the food was absolutely unworthy. The hibachi chicken was raw and inedible. Most disgusted thing is there were many ants on the floor, I even found two in my table. How can they even got the sanitary certificate, maybe they don't. We ended up with 60 dollars for nothing but terrible experience. I wonder how they have 4 stars on the yelp. Maybe yelp offers paid deletion, I don't know but we'll see. read more

Pleasantly surprised at the quality and quantity of sushi for the price at this strip mall sushi place. The fresh salmon and tuna rolls seemed like a great value... typically tiny rolls and minimal fish but these were quite large with a healthy portion of fish in each roll.
