Friday night is sushi night. We arrived at Sake Sushi around 5:30p. Our party of 4 waited about 15 minutes for a table. Place was full of happy hour diners. SS, a small establishment with decent decor and Asian ambiance, offers a solid HH. Service was swift & efficient. Drink orders were taken almost immediately upon being seated. Several Japanese beers are offered at HH (2 for $7.50). The highlights for my dinning partners were the Gyoza dumplings, the Shrimp Tempura rolls, and a large piping hot bowl of Spicy Seafood Ramen. I upgraded from the HH menu and ordered America Favorite (B): Miso soup, House salad, 6 pieces of Tuna nigiri, and 2 tuna rolls. The sushi was fresh, generous portions, and very well presented. For a strip mall sushi joint, you owe it to yourself to try Sake Sushi. I definitely recommend their HH.

I really like Sake, they're a great staple to Chaska. But we ordered takeout on a whim and I got calamari, which is what I usually order there because it's so great at sit-in. I got 9 small rings for $10.95, and some of them weren't even edible. One was so tough I could not chew it through. Not sure if it's just different for takeout/appetizers but was disappointed.

My friends and family have been coming here for years!! Best sushi in town that is not only delicious but affordable. They offer lunch and happy hour specials. I enjoy this place for takeout or to enjoy dinning a meal there. The workers are all so kind and the service is quick. The fried rice and yum yum sauce is something everyone I know gets every time...SO GOOD! Highly recommend

Stopped in for lunch after a day of household errands. It's was dead inside, nobody but the staff was present. I wonder if it maybe because it's rather hard to tell if they are open due to the tinted exterior windows. Nonetheless, I was greeted, seated and served promptly. I opted for their Maki Lunch, with a soda and pay $14, not bad. Their choices of rolls on this lunch special were plenty, whether you eat fish or prefer the vegetable rolls. I was a little disappointed in the flavor textures as the spicy tuna was spicy and was rather bland. The place was clean and I would try them again, probably trying some of their more elaborate rolls.

At first glance, you may be thrown off by the fact that is it located in a strip mall but you wouldn't know it once you step through the door. My husband and I ordered California Rolls and the Sake Maki Rolls. They were delicious and very fresh. The waitress was very helpful and attentive. We also noticed they have very inexpensive drink specials. $3 -$5 I love that it is so easy to get to within Chaska. Will prob be our go-to local sushi spot.

I came here for dinner with my family a few days ago. My food was absolutely delicious. The shrimp tempura was amazing and including the vegetables. The sushi and roll were also pretty good from the salmon lover. The onion soup was really good. The salad dressing was absolutely horrid though, and they had no other dressing options. My mother's food took almost an hour to come to the point where she was just gonna cancel the food order and then the food was magically ready a minute later after she complained. I think it was made, they forgot who it belonged to and it was just kind of sitting out. When my mom got her food, she said it was absolutely disgusting. I was alarmed because you can't really mess up lobster but it was in fact disgusting as I tried it. She barely ate any of her food and tossed the rest when she got home. She wasn't gonna say anything but after I suggested she say something they gave her a seven dollar discount on this almost $20-30 plate. She ate maybe 30% of the food as a woman who is overweight and not picky. My experience was overall great between the server and the food. I will say that the floor near the bathroom was sticky, which was disgusting. Overall, I won't go out of my way to come here after seeing my mom's experience as she came over 40 mins from home and I also live 40 mins away. If it's all that's open I would recommend the sushi/shashmi/rolls and tempura only.

We happened to be in the area and were able to be seated right away for a late lunch. It's a smaller place with booths, table seating, and bar seating. Our server was pleasant and worse gloves the whole time. (Although he wore the gloves into the bathroom and I don't think he changed them after, so that made us very uncomfortable). The happy hour menu was decent and we mostly ordered from that. The sushi was good, but nothing amazing. Maybe above average? There was an issue with the tofu dish my friend ordered. She kept finding hard slivers in it, that she said seemed like plastic. She chose not to finish her dish and the waiter never asked what we thought about the dishes so it was never brought up.

We have ordered takeout many times during the pandemic. The chefs sometimes slip in a piece or two that are questionable. I've lost my patience with that. Out of our three pieces of tuna last night, one was past prime and the other was positively gray it was so old. C'mon guys, that's just wrong.

The sushi rolls seem like they were made by a child. I paid for a specialty roll that has absolutely 0 flavor. Also asked for cream cheese with a crispy shrimp tempura roll and 1) it was not crispy 2) there was no cream. The spicy crab looks like mush.

5:00 pm...Decent parking , quickly seated, clean. Table was a bit sticky. Place started to fill up at 6pm. First round of sushi was good..Yellow Tail, Red Snapper, Unagi. Second order I went for Sashimi Toro and it was frozen. 2 salads had runny dressing. Udon was very bland. Cream Cheese wontons were delicious. Very good service.

I had a really great experience at this sushi place! Right when I walked in everyone was very welcoming and friendly, I sat at the sushi bar. The service was so quick!! I had a strawberry mojito, it was tasty but I did wish it was a tad sweeter for a mojito. I also ordered the shrimp poke bowl (delicious and beautifully prepared) and the avacodo bombs I believe they are called and wow those were sooooooo good!! The servers were super helpful and nice and my food literally came out less than 10 minutes after I placed my order. Probably one of the best dining experiences I've ever had! read more

You're better off going to your local beach and finding a bloated, washed up catfish that's been baking in the hot sun for a couple days because that's what you're gonna get here. Most of the fish didn't resemble what it was advertised as. Please do not believe the 5 star reviews. read more

Wow! In the convenience of chaska, we have our own sushi place that is so good! Ordered Edamame: hot and salty California roll and crab and avocado roll is amazing. Super fresh and they make them in front of you. Hibachi chicken and rice is as good as Benihannas! Great and friendly service Beers in bottles $3.50 Highly recommended read more

Finally getting around to reviewing our favorite local sushi place. Always a pleasant dining experience at Sake Sushi. They have a great happy hour menu that is hard to beat! Tried to order the Cream Cheese Wontons and they didn't have the ingredients to make them. Also tried to order the Salmon and Avocado Roll and they couldn't make that either :( They suggested the King Crab Avocado Roll in its place. EACH and EVERY piece of the roll had large, sharp pieces of crab shell. It was disgusting and I'm not sure how it was missed in the making of the roll. Spent over $100 on dinner and all I remember was not getting the items I tried to order and instead getting crab shells :( read more

This unexpected dining experience was sincerely sensational. Service was excellent. Started with calamari and wanton appetizers. Steak hibatchi dinner with beef fried rice. Simply amazing. We now go here for every birthday dinner for my wife. Absolutely five stars. read more

This place is terrible! Flat soda pop. Ikura that smelled like rotten fish. Unagi eel that was hard and cold, not served warm like its suppose to be. Most of the fish is just blah, poor cuts and not super fresh. They don't have a clue how to make sushi rice, they serve day old cold hard sushi rice. I have been here twice and both times were very bad, I won't be back. This is a real shame that American strip mall sushi has to come to this, the authentic Japanese would be appalled if they ate at this place. It appears most people don't know good sushi from bad sushi given all of the positive reviews of this place. And they charge the same price as top shelf sushi restaurants, don't waste your time or money here. There are much better sushi restaurants in the Minneapolis area. read more

We were driving from southern MN St. Paul for a conference and saw this place on the road. So glad we stopped! Service was great and very friendly. Sushi was delicious! I can't remember the name of it- but our favorite was the fried shrimp topped with filet minion! Yumm! Have yet to see something like that on any other sushi menu. Great serving sizes too. Keep up the great job! read more

This is an exceptional restaurant. My family has eaten here (including take-out) four times. Each meal was way beyond expectations. The dining room is not what anyone would expect to find in a suburban strip mall - shadowy, comfortable, functional, and relaxed. The people who work here are very good at what they do. Kitchen, sushi chefs, waitstaff, front-of-house are all there for one reason - to see that you have the best dining experience possible. It's nice to eat in a place where the staff is so obviously glad to have you there. I would rate their food the equal of any other Japanese restaurant in Minnesota. They wisely keep the sushi selections limited to what they can provide with the utmost freshness while maintaining an impressive variety. The rest of the menu is extensive, and from what I've tried so far, very well executed. Some plates are so well composed that it is a shame to eat them. Prices are reasonable. Sushi prices are about the same as Target/Byerly's, but the quality is at a much higher level, as you would expect. Once Sake Sushi gets its liquor license (in a week or two) I will never have to drive any farther to enjoy quality Japanese cuisine. read more

This one is a hard one to make a review for... I don't want people to steal this hidden gem! Amazing food, great service, they remember your order if your a returning customer. Amazing Happy Hour menu. Awesome cosmos and I have tried just about every kind of sushi, very fresh. exceedingly average sushi and over priced premium rolls. I come from NY, I've eaten Sushi at some of the best places. how this place gets great reviews is beyond me. $90 for a family of 4, no alcohol, under cooked rice, barely any tobiko, no premium rolls. meal could have come from a supermarket. read more

This place is a great little gem in Chaska. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. The ambiance in the restaurant is very good and it is kept very clean. I truly hope this restaurant does very well as I have seen too many restaurants fail in that location. The prices are fair, I wouldn't say overpriced, but I wouldn't say cheap either. Let's be honest though, do you really want "cheap" when it comes to sushi? Highly recommend this place, check it out! read more

We finally checked out the newest restaurant in Chaska. I was a little skeptical with the low rent, strip mall exterior. However, the interior is much nicer. We only had takeout sushi on this first visit. The Angry Dragon, Yum Yum (w/tuna subbed for eel) and Amazing Tuna specialty rolls were what we ordered. All were very good. You get 8 pieces per roll, although some pieces were a little on the small side. We will definitely be back. The fire cracker shrimp and calamari aps sound good. Not sure where they fire up the hibachi stuff (they didn't have a grill table) but I'd be willing to check that out too. Ignore the tacky exterior and enjoy. read more

I don't just go here because it's sushi close to home... it's the best sushi in the area. Love all the wait staff and the sushi chefs - they make us feel at home! Especially May & Steve. And the cooks in the back never let me down. Hibachi is always delicious! Happy hour prices can't be beat, food & drinks. Don't hesitate, come check it out, you won't be disappointed!! Ordered the spider roll along with California and enjoyed it very much. The green tea fried ice cream could have used a little more ice cream but it was still delicious. I was disappointed by the bits of crab shell were in my wife's sushi. I can't remember what she ordered, was still edible, but it was sharp and we obviously took the shell out. I ordered sushi last night & had my husband pick it up to bring home for dinner. Online menu sucks, doesn't tell you what is in each roll. So I just ordered 2 "plain" rolls and a side of rice. Well, he comes home with someone else's order, they assured him that "this is it, this is what your wife ordered" okay well no. It was 3 raw salmon rolls. I called asked for a refund "no we can't, I'll give you 10% off your next purchase" uhhhh, that's not how it works. You gave me food I won't even eat & you messed up. I'm not paying $16 to throw the food away. So annoying, won't ever go back. read more

I've never had sushi before and wasn't convinced I would like it. My husband and I ordered the sushi appetizer, edemame, BMW rolls, and hibachi chicken. The food was absolutely fantastic! While I wasn't a fan of all the cuts of fish I tried, the quality was undeniable. The service was great as well. The space itself was smallish, but that just made it seem more intimate and that there was more time and effort put into the food. We will absolutely eat there again! read more

This place is such a hidden gem out in Chaska! Time and time again this place impresses me with such incredibly delicious sushi. I have been to numerous places in the twin cities area and I have to say none of them have impressed me like Sake has. I am a huge fan of their BMW roll, which in my opinion, is the best BMW roll I've ever had. What impresses me is how crispy the roll is, it's absolutely perfect. Their presentation is perfect and happy hour is fairly reasonable. The inside is small but is incredibly well renovated. read more

Sake Sushi is a great start up restaurant in this area! They have quality sushi and energetic service. Our favorite menu items are the sushi for two platters. Reasonable prices for two with a filling amount of fresh sushi. Now that they've opened their bar I'm sure it's going to take off! read more

Wow! All this in Chaska, MN?! My husband and I used to drive to Excelsior for good sushi (Yumi) after many disappointing experiences at the next nearest option (Kona), but no more! We are thrilled to have this gem so close to home. Try the BMW roll, you won't regret it. read more

My wife and I went to there on Saturday, the waitress kind forces us to sat on the sushi bar, but we sat at a table. The waitress seems so unpleasant and impatient. We asked some recommendation for the sushi, she just said no idea. We ordered some sushi rolls and hibachi, the food was absolutely unworthy. The hibachi chicken was raw and inedible. Most disgusted thing is there were many ants on the floor, I even found two in my table. How can they even got the sanitary certificate, maybe they don't. We ended up with 60 dollars for nothing but terrible experience. I wonder how they have 4 stars on the yelp. Maybe yelp offers paid deletion, I don't know but we'll see. read more

Pleasantly surprised at the quality and quantity of sushi for the price at this strip mall sushi place. The fresh salmon and tuna rolls seemed like a great value... typically tiny rolls and minimal fish but these were quite large with a healthy portion of fish in each roll. Service was quite attentive if not overly. Will definitely return. Great happy hour if you prefer cream cheese/mayo based rolls. read more

I keep coming back to Sake for convience. Live in area. Almost always takeout. Every time they miss on something. Forgot to put rice in, or sauce. Not follow instructions on entry. If I bring it up, never a makeup. I'm sell to consumers. If I screw up if something not my fault thatI could not control, I always make some concession to make the customer happy. Don't want to sound prejudicial. But when a Asian comes to me to buy. Hardest to deal with. No price is good enough. But never I found it the other way around. Not very giving. read more

My mother and I came here at 4:30 right when it opens for dinner. We ordered a bit of everything it feels like. The atmosphere was great, good setting, great service. They were very attentive but not over bearing. We ordered the hot appetizer of calamari, a side order of hibachi scallops, seaweed salad, vegetable dumplings, smoked salmon sushi, salmon sushi rolls, and the Mochi ice cream. It was all very good, although the Mochi ice cream covering had an unexpected gummy texture to it and I personally wouldn't get it again. read more

I frequent the restaurant often during breaks or after I'm of with my family. I've always been satisfied with both my meal and service since the opening but in recent weeks, with the new waitress, I've had many instances where my order was wrong and who looked impatient when the restaurant isn't busy. I'm hoping this will change as this is one of my faviourite places. I highly recommend the happy hour nigirin if you are a sushi lover. And the hibachi fried rice is awesome! read more

When I arrived, I was amazed at how beautiful the interior of the restaurant is. It looks like a high end sushi restaurant downtown.
