My dealings with them left me feeling that I am the one working at Saks and should be earning a wage for having manners and knowing how to say "hello" and "thank you." Joseph does not even greet you when you visit the counter, but instead looks pained and weak of character. Thomas escalates complaints instead of dealing with them like a leader. Pretty Good Saks OFF 5th location. It's across the street from South Coast Plaza so I'm assuming a lot of their inventory comes from the big department store across the way. They had a lot of designer purses like Versace, Prada, Moschino etc. They also had a ton of top shoe brands like Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik. I enjoyed their racks of Vince and Rag & Bone in the front. If you're into getting high fashion for cheap, I'd camp out here the end of each season when they get new inventory. read more

I just want to take a moment to thank a few of the staff at this Off 5th location. We tried to purchase some jewelry for our friends' wedding online, using a stack of gift cards we had. We never received confirmation of our order, then two days later, we got an email saying the order had been canceled. We decided to take the matter to a bricks-and-mortar, and went to the South Coast location, where Marica helped us pick out replacement rings and then connected us with Lance, who patiently sat on the phone with customer service getting our gift card situation sorted out so that we could purchase our selections. This team went above and beyond for us and did it with grace and kindness. I'm sure we looked like a couple of scam artists showing up with such a crazy story, and I wouldn't have blamed them if they'd treated us like derelicts! Working in retail can be a pretty thankless job. It's a real pleasure when you experience really good customer service. I hope the management takes care of our new friends at Off 5th. This store isn't special, but it's yet one more place to buy higher priced items at a discount after they've grown old on the shelf. The store interior leaves much to be desired, because it feels incomplete and poorly lit, like a warehouse space that was slapped together as a "store" for a temporary clearance sale...except this is supposedly a brand new shop that sells luxury goods! From a WHEELCHAIR-ACCESSIBILITY standpoint, technically the space IS: There's a wide ramp leading down into the store, and a spacious working elevator to the right as soon as you're off the ramp...but that's where the fun ends! Most of the racks are pushed way too close together to allow for proper wheelchair accessibility, something that two of the employees sheepishly pointed out to me before I even said anything (they said they're "working on it"...I'll hold my breath!!)...and while I suppose I could've taken the employees up on their offer to "bring me anything", that's not how I like to shop. I'm like everyone else, I prefer to browse on my own. I'm not the only one who was having trouble, I saw at least one other woman in a mobility scooter desperately trying to maneuver through the purse department. Another MAJOR downside to this shopping experience is that there are NO PLUS SIZES. I'm sure somewhere in that huge, two-level warehouse they could've found room to squeeze just a few plus sized outfits!! Also to be noted: The music blasting throughout the store is DEAFENING!!! Even the employees were complaining loudly to each other about the extreme decibel level!!! I'm with them: it doesn't make for a pleasant shopping experience to be in a store that wants you to think it's a douche-y nightclub!!! I'm sure I'll check back in 4-5 months, once they've got their stride, to see if the space is any easier to navigate, if the volume has been turned down, or if they've added any clothing in my size. Retured the damaged one through shipping, usps show it was delivered. However they didn't agree, I had to fight for a month to get the money refunded and that's too was refunded after deduction of shipping fee, which they said will not be deducted in case of damaged item. I purchased pants made by Saks 5th Avenue at this store. I wore them for one day and they expanded several sizes throughout the day. By the end of my work day, I couldn't keep them up! I went in to return them 2 days after purchasing them, and I was denied by 3 separate employees in the store. Huge fan of this as I no longer have the time to get out of the City to hit the Off 5th locations in the outer fringes of the bay area. The mens shoe options and ties are constantly changing and you can find some real gems in here for not much coin. The shirts are a wash mostly because they are rarely european cut and mostly "american" (e.g. boxy) but that's alright. my only knock on this place is the employees who are very adept at instantly looking busy and being (just barely) our of sight of the registers downstairs the moment a long line appears. I worked in retail and this is a classic move. But when you are here on your break or your lunch hour, and this has happened twice for me, I have had to abandon my purchase after waiting over 15 minutes while one poor helpless junior staffer tries to tackle the ever-growing line of impatient shoppers (and for some reason, a LOT of time-consuming returns). read more

I'm actually touched the star by accident! I had a very bad experience there. I went with my father to return a pair of jeans because I know translation would be hard for him. I told them we lost the receipt. They called a manager they checked the tags were still on them. The manager asked what date we purchased the items . We tried our best to remember because honestly I don't remember when exactly I go shopping. But I had bought something at Nordstroms that day and I figured it out by looking at that card transaction. Then she asked what register I had bought it from. I chuckled when she asked and said "what?" I don't know . Apparently that would help the process. I told her the first three for sure. But that's all I can remember. They said they weren't sure how long it would take . Ok I want to look for a dress so I'll be here shopping 15 mins went by I checked status with the register people , nothing. Walked around checked another 15 mins nothing. Then another, nothing. Then my dad noticed the manager was helping others. I went to ask her what happened? She said sorry come back when you have your receipt. At this point I did turn into a bitch and no excuse for how ugly I sounded because the whole store was looking at me . She said I came to look for you and you left the Register so I'm done. I told her if she wanted me to wait somewhere she should have told me. I would've. And I told her I kept checking with your girls no one said you were done. I was mad I waited almost an hour for that!!! I said NO you go back there and find it this is bull shit!! She went back but sent a second manager that explained the policy which is no returns with out a receipt well I said that's what you should've said before you waisted an hour and lied about what you all were gonna do. She said come back when you have a receipt which basically means don't come back. And I honestly won't! While I was there there was another lady yelling at the poor front register girls who I know can't help the stupid policy, but it's not so much the policy it's how they waisted my time and gave a shit. And the way they talked to a person. Obviously this isn't the full Price Saks it's the discounted side . It shows by the way they handle their costumers. The day I shopped I spent $500 or so $$ there . To me that's a lot the jeans were $45 I was going to get another pair of shoes and a dress. Now I'll never go back there. Walked passed by and the 60% off sign lured me in. The merchandise is ordinary. Nothing even worth taking a second look at to drop some bills. Just like Nordstrom rack, it's the cheaper version but I had no luck seeing anything interesting. It's set up very strangely. The shoes section has clearance and regular priced items mixed in. Yes, it's clearly marked clearance but, just keep it simple and have a place strictly for sale. It try's to be different but it's so awkward. Most of the staff here is very helpful and friendly; not all but most. I was in the fitting room needing some assistance with a different size when an Asian gentleman looked at me in a very unpleasant way. Another staff member in the fitting room looked very overwhelmed trying to help several people at once (the poor thing) and he just stood there observing; converting oxygen into carbon dioxide. The worst company I have to deal with during the Covid-19 crisis, I called to see if I can postponed my payment for a month or 2 till I get back to work, I told them I have zero income. They refused to help me, they said I will be charged late fees. All the credit card companies I called was very helpful and compassion, except Saks Fifth Avenue. Who really needs snow boots when they live in SoCal anyway? I wasn't planning on going anywhere with predominant amounts of snow anytime soon so I decided to return the Sorel boots I got as a fraction of the price with free shipping. Luckily, Off Saks 5th Ave has a store by South Coast Plaza. There's also one at the Outlets at Orange but this was closer to me. I decided to make my way over to Costa Mesa for the return. It was fairly simple and I ended up perusing for a last minute outfit for a party that evening. I found a top and tried it on in the fitting room. Checked the off saks website to see if they price match and they do. Went back to off saks to let them know and the cashier said "we don't price match" and i said "but your website says you do". This store is the worst customer service ever. It was very bad experience I shopped this store. I bought the men jacket at this store at night for my husband and right after went home he tried it and found out the rivet on the sleeve broken and came off. I didn't check it carefully when I bought and left. The day after I brought the men jacket to the store and started to return with the hope they had the another one for me to exchange. I knew the store have the 3 or 4 ones on the men section right in the front. And they had 2 sizes S and one was Medium. The jacket has some yellow dots looks like rusty metal on the light grey color and it looks really cool . It looks like antique and old style in 1980's. They have 2 different colors light beige ones also and the brand TomFord and just sold out and gone quickly the next day I came back. The lady with the blonde long hair and looked like a store manager. She doesn't accept for my returning or exchanging even though the receipt doesn't marked that was Final Sale. She completely assumed that I made the button broken because I washed and put in drier. How could I do that just one night and if I had washed it, the material couldn't be like new and soft. She pointed out yellow dots that were a proof for washing. That was ridiculous and insane. I tried to explain that is style because I saw they were the same style right the time I bought. And, I couldn't find anything to compare it with the one bought, since they are sold out. I just had a bad luck and this lady pointed on and made the hard time for me for reasons. I never have bad experience for the returning in my whole life. She was so rude to point out and blame all mistakes on me and tried to shut me up and keeping saying "can you stop yelling" even though that was not yelling. It is very rude. I am wondering why they have to make hard time to their customers? They come to support their business but being treated unfairly. hit or miss. mostly hit for men, but mostly miss for women. men's jeans and suits department are both very well-stocked and large. i have yet to find something i like in women's clothing. at least it's much less overwhelming than nordstroms rack down the plaza because everything is much more organized and clean. a more relaxed and calm shopping experience compared to nordstroms rack. we came into the store for a white dress shirt for the mister, but he left with a pair of dress shoes, 2 pairs of jeans, 1 shirt, and ck boxers... i went into the store in hope not to spend a penny but ended up walking out with 1 pair of saint laurent glasses and 2 pairs of sunglasses. damage was done. read more

My first time here at this store, we love South Coast Plaza and have always had positive shopping experiences, until now. You'd think that a store like Saks Fifth Avenue would make every attempt at making their shoppers experience a good one but that's just not the case. The store is well lit, nice big isles, merchandise organized and lots of floor space, big store. My daughter had to use the restroom and She asked the nearby clerk where the restrooms were and she replied "I'm sorry, our restrooms are not available to customers" I couldn't believe what I heard!?!? A store this big, where we're shopping does not offer restrooms, and she replied that due to COVID-19. I was angry at the sound of this as Nordstrom's across the way offers a great shopping experience complete with clean commodious restrooms. Every retail store offers restrooms for the customers as do grocery stores and the decision of Saks Corporate to close restrooms is both insensitive to the customers and elevates the risk of transferring a virus being that you can't even wash your hands, terrible service. read more

The official Grand Opening is on 5/28/15 and they already have a soft opening that just started. Compare to the Neiman Marcus outlet, Nordstrom Rack, this store is pretty big. I would come back to the store for sure. Being a new store, I think there are a couple things they can improve on: 1) The upstairs dressing room only have four fitting rooms. From my shopping experience in downtown this will not be enough for such a big store. I can foresee long lines in the future. 2) The bathroom located downstairs and in the women bathroom there are only two slots! When I went there, both were occupied by their staff making me wonder why they don't have an employee bathroom in the employee area. 3) They have tons of staff but most of them seems new to the retail industry. A lot of the staff chit-chat too much. The conversations that I have overheard included that there are brands in the store they have not heard of before. A staff who are putting back the inventory was playing around with the other staff. I think people needs to learn to be more professional in front of their customers. 4) I really felt for the manager since there are some much to work on for the store. Employees doesn't seem to have a certain area to look after. I noticed some staff in one area upstairs and then I saw them again downstairs. 5) At the cashier, I wanted to have something that shows me the cost of each items like a small transaction screen. When the cashier was telling me the total price, I had my concerns and I had to make him read me the price of every single item. I originally grabbed two pairs of shoes seeing an extra 60% off sign but at the cashier I found out there's no extra discounts for shoes. Maybe I misread the signs for it. Good things: 1) The prices are good. Especially now that a lot of the items are 40% off. 2) The selection is excellent. I saw Prada purses in the front roll of the handbag sesson! There are also Valentino, Marc Jacobs, and other top of the line brands. In the shoe section, I appreciated that there were at least 5 isle for each size 7 and 8 shoes. I also spot a few Ferragamo shoes that normally cost 400s now are less than 200s. 3) The store is well organized and the store is very tidy. I was (and still sort of am) a big fan of Nordstrom Rack and in general not paying an exorbitant amount of money for clothes - probably because I have a dog. I was shopping at NR with the boyfriend a couple days ago and as we were leaving decided to check out what was next door. I was pleasantly surprised and really happy that I walked into Saks Fifth Off Fifth! I had passed it probably a hundred times while on MUNI on my way to work. Here's what I loved: 1. Apparel is categorized and organized well (by brand) 2. Staff was friendly and helpful from the moment we walked in until we left 3. Prices were low enough to make me want to buy everything! 4. Not too crowded, despite the holiday season (for me that is a huge plus)\ 5. Good selection of stylish clothes for both men and women My one con: The only available cashiers were downstairs and the line seemed to move quite slowly. I had tried on a bunch of stuff that I wanted, but the inconvenience of the downstairs-only cashier and the long line made me walk away, as I didn't have much time that day. Saks fifth is one of my favorite stores and always have a great finds. However this store in particular has the worst customer service. I went there to exchange some items and was so disappointed. I wish I know the names, the girls working there are very rude. I have spent 40 minutes with her trying to pay with my saks fifth credit card she even asked the other cashier for help and didn't figure out what was the problem, they questioned me tons of questions of how did I get the saks credit card? and who opened it for me? And where? claiming that it is not working, and treating me like if I faked it (I was still using the paper card, and have not received the plastic card in mail yet) later on she discovered that she's entering my information in the wrong place (she was entering my ID info into military ID info, which supposed to be entered into state ID info not military). The payment went through and I finally left the store. I wish my experience ended here, if so, I would still accept the service and give 4/10 for the experience. But unfortunately it didn't, after an hour I discovered that I am missing my phone. luckily my friend was with me, so I called the store from her phone and asked if they saw any phone by the register, and they asked which register? and said they didn't see anything. They asked if I have find my iphone to track it in a weird way as if they trying to figure out if I can trace it! and I said I am not sure I have to check cuz I don't remember if I set it up. They hanged up without taking the number that I was calling from in case they find it. I checked find my iPhone from my friend phone and was able to locate it. It was in the store as I thought. We went there and told them that we lost it there. They repeated they didn't find any thing. And asked me " Do you see it anywhere here?!" I said no, she said I don't think we have it. I pressed on the make my iPhone make a sound, and we started to hear it and told her that we hear it at their side of the register. She said I don't see any thing, so i asked her to check the drawer, and it was there so she gave it to me in a very rude way. I asked Why when I called, you told us there's nothing? she said cuz the manager not here! while the drawer she opened doesn't have any lock or key, so she was easily able to check it!, I mean if she wasn't the same phone who hide it in there. Also my phone was not silent and we called it six times, before callinf the store to check, so I am pretty sure that they'd notice that there is a phone ringing and lost in the store. Very unprofessional service and did not meet any classification of customer service, I wonder how these girls got the job in the store. I always go to saks fifth other stores and I like how they take care of me with fast check out and great service providing their best to be above and beyond my expectations, but not this particular store. Bad business!! I tried to return a dress that I bought for my daughter (which she never wore, had the price tags on, and was even still on their hanger and in their bag), and they wouldn't let me. I had the receipt but because it was two months old, they wouldn't accept it. I asked for a store credit but they refused that as well. Mind you, I had spent nearly $1,000.00 two months prior and would've probably spent over the $45 credit for the dress had they given me store credit. It makes no sense to turn a shopper away. Especially these days when brick-and-mortar retail is suffering. Their return policy is bad business and they will suffer for it. Had they given me store credit, they wouldn't have lost any money but gained another sale. Instead they chose to lose money and a client. I will stick to Nordstrom Rack!! read more

Wow horrible first time experience . Granted I arrived 25 minutes before closing time. It when I headed back to the Mesa section I was almost isle blocked by Jonny yelled "hey we're closed!" I replied "I'm just checking the price if something I'll be leaving in 2 seconds". He again said "well we're closed sir...". I said "No your sill open for another 8 minutes" He said "what are you buying? ". At this point I had made my way past the gate keeper to the menls dress shirts and asked Jonny whom was standing behind me if course how much are the Burberry dress shirts usually? He again reminded me they were closed. I told him that it was my first time in the store and I just wanted to get an idea how much the dress shirts were. He then laughed and said they're expensive. I think I had a "pretty woman" movie moment. Then he ushered me out walking behind me until I was out of the men's section. Walking to the door a polite woman asked me if I found everything ok and if I needed anymore. Help... I said no your closed... she said not yet , That employee was sooo rude and just wanted to get me outta rather so he could get home.
