Terrible experience. I ordered three items from Saks Off 5th at 75% off, expecting a good deal. Instead, I received damaged and unacceptable merchandise. The Polo sweater was clearly worn, dirty, and had two holes in the front. It wasn't even folded -- it looked like it was carelessly thrown into the box. The dress also arrived with a large hole near the back zipper. This level of quality control is unacceptable. To make matters worse, their return system isn't working, and the online chat support is unavailable. Customers should not have to struggle to return defective items. What seemed like a bargain turned out to be a complete waste of money . Even if the store is closing, that is not an excuse to send out damaged merchandise and leave customers without proper support. I felt like I was at a retail Happy Hour amongst the engaging go-lucky staff that randomly asked if I needed assistant. I perused the cold weather clothing & jewelry sections, with the latter offering a massive sale...purchase now & get 40% - 70% off with a pick up on 2/5. The store is well kept, organized with high end/luxury items discounted at-least by 50%. The store is two-level as the lower is just as organized & led by more for friendly employees. Even the armed Security Guard at the street entrance gave off a positive vibration as I ensured him I wasn't casing the joint when I was taking pictures. During my double back to the jewelry counter & before I could ask for assistance Jichele, the Manager kindly shouted she was on her way. We ended up chatting for awhile while she navigated me amongst my shopping. I received really good customer service without being forced to buy...I purchased items anyways. Honestly, I didn't know there was an Off 5th here as I'm always up the block at another discounted retail store. My shopping experience was amazing on all fronts & I'll be back, especially if those sales are common. The Metro Center DC area just got a little more trendy thanks to the arrival of Saks Off Fifth and the neighboring Nordstrom Rack. I visited Saks Off Fifth a few days after the grand opening in September. The first floor is bright and welcoming and features a nice selection of sunglasses, handbags, and jewelry. I immediately headed downstairs to check out the selection of women's clothing. There were a nice selection of designer labels and everything was organized and easy to find. The shoe section was inconsistently lit. Some aisles had bright recess lighting and other sections had almost no lighting at all. The merchandise is on par with what you'd expect at a Saks on Fifth Store, but the character and warmth of the store isn't there. Speaking of warmth, the store was cold. I asked a few employees if they felt cold as well and they concurred. The uninspired ceilings and concrete floors give the ground floor a warehouse feel. It's as if the store spent all the time on the main floors and forgot to spruce up the ground level. It's nice to see Saks Off Fifth in the formerly vacant ESPN Zone Space. I hope it spends a little more time on its interior design so that the store is a more inviting space to shop in. I didn't find anything I liked during this visit, but hopefully there'll be something that suits my fancy the next time I stop in! read more

GO TO NORDSTROM! Don't waste your time with these people. Super rude and pre judged me before I even attempted to make my return. They were rude before I even spoke. My husband and I are long time Tom Ford sunglass wearers and these snapped the first time he put them on at home. They refused to hear me out and kept repeating "can't do nothin about it, we didn't sell them to you this way". No wiggle room at all. So I called customer service and they informed me that it's the stores discretion to accept them or not? Apparently I went to a horribly rated store where they have frequent problems. Just my luck. I would suggest Nordstrom all the way, I have been loyal to Nordstrom for years now and customer service/managers do not put up fights. They actually listen and accommodate you as if you're a real customer, even a human being. I learned my lesson and will not be doing business with them anymore. Veho claims to have delivered my item in front of my apartment building and the item wasn't there as they claim. This Saks Off 5th was a welcome addition to the downtown area near Metro Center! It features two spacious floors with a wide variety of clothing and accessories, including a fairly generous men's shoe section downstairs. I agree with others that the downstairs feels sort of like a big warehouse when compared to the more nicely appointed and better lit upstairs, although I don't think that's terribly out ordinary for this store in general. Clothing is organized by type (e.g. jeans, polos) and THEN by designer, which is really useful and helps you find what you're looking for faster. There's a dedicated men's suiting section and they carry some slim fits, which is also nice. I like that there is a selection, albeit rather small, of briefcases and has for guys. It's always an easy in and out in this store, and its location is super convenient. I can't see them moving from this spot! read more

I attempted to return two suits to the DC store, that were purchased the day after Christmas (buy 1 get 1 free). I had the receipt, but didn't have the tags on the clothing, so I knew that might be an issue. I called the store ahead of time and spoke to the manager (Jichelle). She asked me to bring the suits to the store before making a decision on the return. When I arrived, Jichelle inspected the suits and told me she could only offer a store credit. I informed her that I had already purchased 6 suits from the Arundel Mills store (buy 1 get 2 free) and therefore I would like a full return. I asked if she would consider making an exception, given the amount I had spent in both stores (over a two day period) and the fact that the Arundel Mills store had a much better deal? Jichelle was very rude and used air quotes to mock the amount of money I had spent between the two stores. In the end, I decided to keep the two suits I purchased at the DC store and instead, return two of the six suits I had purchased at the Arundel Mills store. To my surprise (and delight), the Arundel Mills store manager agreed to give me a full refund for the two suits purchased at the DC store. Jichelle from the DC store could have saved me a lot of time and trouble, but at least the folks at Arundel Mills understand the meaning of customer service! read more

For once I didn't check my fellow Yelpers' reviews and boy am I sorry! I like a bargain as much as the next gal, but this place is the worst! Bought a belt for my SO less than 3 weeks ago. After wearing it 3 times, the belt just broke. Like the metal piece soldered to the buckle snapped. Total defect. I tried to return it, only to be told that they don't accept returns of worn items. Well, duh, I wouldn't want to return it if it hadn't broken so soon after purchasing it. No apology or anything, just "well, you should have read our return policy." Shame on me for not buying a more expensive belt, but I never would have bought even a $30 belt that could only be worn 3 times. At $10 per wear, that is an expensive belt! I guess I'll be the one to apologize (and maybe they'll learn from my example): Sorry, but I'll take my business to Nordstrom Rack one block over, where they actually offer some level of customer service. read more

Terrible customer service...I'm standing at the checkout counter for several minutes, and a salesman finally emerges from behind the counter but doesn't even acknowledge me. I awkwardly walk over to him to ask if the registers are open, and he rolls his eyes at me. Not only does he have an attitude, but he proceeds to issue my refund incorrectly. Saks Off 5th needs to revamp their security. I recently stopped in to look for a pair of shorts and left--along with many others--unexpectedly. A black man in a suit with a suit bag came into the store and was immediately accosted by the security guard. The man said he was tired of being followed in the store and accused of stealing his own items. The security decided to ratchet up tensions by attempting to touch him and was joined by another employee who tried to grab the man by the waist. The security eventually grabbed the man and slammed him through the door and on to the ground. An older black woman behind me who was there to make a return said the security guard had accused her of stealing her merchandise (which by the way was in a saks bag). It is never appropriate to escalate things to that level or to treat any patron in that manner--especially with violence. It is also extremely disturbing to hear that their security appears to target black patrons. I personally will not return to this store and most likely many of the other patrons there that day will not either. I wish I could give the store zero stars. read more

Easily the most well-kempt outlet store I've ever been to. I sort of felt like I was shopping at a regular Saks. On a Thursday evening, not a single thing was out of place. Every staff member I encountered went out of their way to be helpful. I'm really impressed. Do note though: the store is fairly small. It has way less merchandise than the Nordstrom Rack in Farragut. But, the items they do have seem to be of much higher quality. read more

Nice new Saks Off 5th located next to the old Barnes & Noble soon to be Nordstrom Rack. Initial selection is great. They carry pre-owned Hermes bracelets and bags and they have top brands such as Bottega Veneta bags for about 30-40 off retail. Not much to say yet as the store is clean of course. I had the worst retail experience of my life this weekend at Saks Off 5th in Downtown DC. The associate Demi, who rang up my merchandise was on her phone the entire time. She was rude and not helpful when I asked her about the rewards program. When an Item on clearance rang up at full price, she said that is what the price is. I kindly asked to speak with a manager, she seemed annoyed and said she needed to gtfo out of this place. When the manager (Renee) finally showed up, I explained the situation that the item was on clearance (sticker even on the tags). There were 5 more just like the one I had on the rack. There was also a storewide 25% off sale. Renee told me that I got a discount from the storewide sale so what is the problem. She was terribly rude the entire conversation and told me just to return the item. I am shocked by this horrendous retail experience. Worst Customer Service ever from Store employee Jichele!!! I was in the suit department where signs said take an additional 50% off clearance. I specifically asked an associate about the specific Ralph Lauren suit jacket I'd chose. I asked are all the Clearance jackets additional 50% off or some? This employee stated "ALL" and walked away as if that was asking too much.. very short. When I went to ring up sure enough it came up the tag price without the additional 50%! I Told Jichele that I specifically asked the downstairs employee about that jacket.. and she'd said it was 50% off. Jichele rolled her eyes, and dismissed me saying it's not. No other option or accommodations for me being mislead. I asked for a main customer service number and manager, Jichele Claimed to be a manager and refused to give the main number. She only wrote down the store number. I would never experience anything like this at the Clarksburg location. This store sells shoddy clothes and has terrible customer service. I have been shopping there for years; but, today was my last day. This store does not stand behind its merchandise. I bought a warm winter coat. I tried it on in the store. It fit fine. I took it home. Then I put it on to go to an outdoor football game. It fell apart. I took it back. I had my receipt. They refused to take it back. I told them to throw it in the trash for me. Why would I carry out a big bulky winter coat that was totally useless? This clearly is a discount store and not a full service department store, so the rule here is, beware,you a taking chances, you are gambling with your money. I mean, you might be lucky and you might be unlucky when you put on your clothes when you get home. I had a receipt. They were all nice and ready to do a return, until I pointed out the damage; then their attitude got all jailhouse nasty. The sales associate woman turned all crack-head nasty on me and loudly yelled at me that she would not take back the shoddy winter coat. Then gave me the card for the manager Tina. I had to come back another day when the manager was working. The manager refused to help me in any way. So I just left it then and there. This place is no better than a street rummage sale. You might get lucky and you might get unlucky. They don't care. I never will shop at Saks Off 5th again. read more

Employees were friendly and not overbearing. We were greeted by many people and a lot of attention to detail was being paid by staff. For instance, on Saturday morning, we saw workers arranging the shoes in each of their boxes in an orderly fashion. People were cleaning the window surfaces, and there was staff everywhere, from the jewelry to purses to shoes to clothes. If you needed assistance, you were not short of options. The place is just very clean and well organized. The one drawback is in the shoes area. Some areas are poorly lit. I also appreciated the selection of names: Valentino, Balenciaga were near Michael Kors and Coach. For women's clothes, they had an ok selection of Theory, Vince, Helmut Lang, Rag & Bone, Diane vonFurstenberg. T-shirts, sweaters, etc. could often be found in three sizes although there only appeared to be one of each size. There is also a clearance section which looked like a big mosh of items. read more

I'm a old customer I spend a lot of money over the pass decade of the store and always paid cash but just about a month ago i applied for their credit card program & ever since then these workers(employees) has been giving me an attitude, poor customer service, & always seems to be disturb while asking them a simple question. The first time i came here this employee name michael he was on his phone & he wasn't attending nobody so i came along & ask michael if the product i had in hand was on sale & then he talked to me in a weird way & didn't answer the question i have asked & on top of that he didn't seems intrigued about the product i was planning to buy so i left. Then the next week came along, this employee name daysha attended me, so i had a lot of product in hands & i told her "what are the prices of these products" & she came along in told me that go look for the prices yourself & then i told her with a kind manner "can you please tell me the prices" & then she ain't answer me and another employee that was behind daysha i believe it was the manager that's what she told me i think she was a white female, got close to us & start screaming at me saying "all of these prices are here" with a aggressive tone, & then i told her "why are you talking to me at that tone" & she told me "because i was telling you the price of the product", & i told her it was "my obligation to tell them & them to give me a final response" after that i told her that i feel like you discriminate me.. these type of employees shouldn't work here i'm sorry but this is not a proper way to treat a customer.. and what i want is for them to get me a full refund if possible. Love this place! Has almost everything. Very clean and conveniently located in downtown DC, great place to shop during lunch break, after work, or a meal with friends. The store is neatly organized and there are lots of employees there to organize, stock, and help. The first floor is accessories! I like this because it's usually what one would shop first when entering the store. You can first choose your accessory then choose an outfit or shoes to go with it. Shoes and clothes are on the lower level, accessible by escalators right in the middle of the store. Nice selection of men's items too, although a lot more suits and less casual clothes. The prices are pretty decent, you can buy a pair of Jimmy Choos for under $400! Also great selection of sunglasses and gifts for anyone. read more
