I so wanted this to be good! Maybe we're spoiled by the super cheap and delicious sushi at our regular spot on St. Marks, but this didn't cut it. The tuna was grey and tasted old. Pretty rude restaurant honestly. Went here to pick up a dinner special-- they gave me the wrong order. Then they asked me to come back and get the "right order." So, I begrudgingly come back for the right order since I don't live far. Turns out, I made a simple mistake on Seamless and even after coming back, they wouldn't do me the favor of giving me what I intended to order. Moral of the story: go to Wasabi down the street. Incredibly rude manager. I used to come in here about once a week and really enjoyed dining in as well as ordering out. However today the manager (who has seen me many times) had thought that I ordered soup when I asked for a "seat" and when the soup had arrived I said that it was not what I ordered, and I'll mention that I said this politely as I always do when I dine here or anywhere for that matter. She then proceeded to yell from across the restaurant lecturing me about how she has eyes and she can see that I'm dining in and that it was my fault that I had messed up the order. She then proceeded to comment about how wrong I was for saying I wanted a seat because it was "obvious" I wanted a seat and how I should have been clear. Terrible experience and I'm incredibly disappointed that this place I used to go to so often is one I will never step foot in again. read more

My favorite sushi place in Greenpoint! They also received a critics pick from NY Mag- I believe the only restaurant in Greenpoint that has that so far. The lunch specials are extremely affordable and they give you so much food! I usually go for dinner and end up getting a bento box and sushi- more than enough for 2 people. I enjoyed eating at this restaurant often when it first opened, but then I noticed one of the sushi chefs picking his teeth with his finger. I know that they wear gloves while preparing the sushi but I was so disgusted that I had to stop eating there. A friend of mine suggested that we go there recently and I decided to avoid the sushi bar. At one point in the evening, I looked up from my cooked salmon and saw a different sushi chef picking his teeth. Incredible! This is my go-to sushi place. The atmosphere is perfect for a relaxed dinner and the food is cheap for the large portions they give you. I don't know about you, but I can't think of any other sushi place where you can get 3 rolls and a soup/salad for $12 at dinner. Good rolls, too. Not entirely sure about these positive reviews. This was the worst sushi I have ever had, hands down, and without question. The fish was truly awful. My salmon tasted exactly the same as the shrimp and the eel. There was no flavour and on top of that there was hardly any fish in the rolls. When I first decided to go to Sakura 6, I was just interested in the sushi, however, once I entered, I realized there was so much more to it. The scenery is beautiful and they play very shooting music there. The menu is huge and had much variety as well. By spending a minimum of ten dollars, you get free hot Sake! Every employee there was very kind and made my experience an amazing one I will not forget. The food tasted highly authentic and I would recommend everyone to try this place out. :D read more

God awful customer service. Ordered delivery and they didn't send half of the order and said too bad they were busy. We paid 60 dollars and only got 30 dollars worth of food. We waited an hour for delivery. I asked him to send the other half and he said no because he was busy. Then I asked for the money back and he said no. And then was hung up on. Never again. THE SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. I've been going to this place for quite a while now and the only reason I've been going is because their food is fresh. I usually do take out but out of the many times I have gone I decided to dine in 2 times. The first time I got served by many waitresses, so when it came to the end, I decided not to tip anyone because 1. I didn't have enough money 2. WHY SO MANY WAITRESSES, i'm not royalty, 1 waitress is fine. When I was exiting the restaurant all 4 of them came up and asked me with a very aggressive attitude where their tip was excuse you? So I left! Anyways after that I've been back several times just for pick up, and also remember not to ask the owner for 3 extra packets of soy, or else you'll GET YELLED AT! Today I went back in with a friend and also we had 3 waitresses. In the end we also decided not to tip anyone because even though they bought us 1 plate of sushi rolls, no one even asked us how we were doing or if everything is ok, so why should I give a tip? Also the owner was talking bs about me, and what happened last time, how I didn't leave them a tip. As my friend and I are preparing to exit, one of the waitresses does not let us exit because we didn't tip them and threatened us that I need to give them a tip or else they are not letting us out. I said giving a tip for you is my own option, and bringing one plate of sushi is not that hard. She fought back with a nasty attitude saying how she is now poor because she does't get a check and she lives off of tips. Also on the receipt, the owner wrote "not include tip yet." And when I was arguing with the waitress, the owner was standing on the side and laughing. LOL well guess what your customer service sucks, and what a great way to market your restaurant. 1 star does not do this do this review justice. It really does not. This restaurant is a disgrace to the great food industry in New York City. I am not one that constantly complains about bad service as I understand the complexities and appreciate the difficulties that the restaurant business encompasses. However, this restaurants service is absolutely horrendous. I ordered a meal at 1:20 PM via Seamless and the time estimate that the restaurant provided was 30-45 minutes. One hour later, I called and the person answering the phone was not just exceptionally rude and dismissive, basically putting me down for complaining about the time delay, she stated that the driver was 1 block away from my apartment. 25 minutes later, I called back and stated that the driver was delivering other bags, which confirmed the lie that she told me. This restaurant has probably the worst possible service I have had, and the rudeness and disrespect of the hostess is absolutely unacceptable. Please, people of Yelp, do not support a business a like this that treats its customers with utter disrespect with outright lies and fabrications of stories. Had hibachi salmon and a salad with ginger sauce. Both very good. The free hot sake makes this place so worthwhile to go to! You don't need to be afraid to ask for a refill because they'll usually notice when it's empty and just ask if you want more. Really great service. read more

I've been eating here for years, so i write this review with a heavy heart. This place is relatively cheap, serves free watered down Sake, and is usually good (never great, but you get what you pay for). Today, however, i ordered a lunch box and was given a portion of rice with my teriyaki what had a rotten tasting onion in it. I usually eat the rest of the lunch box first, so by the time i got to the rice i had eaten my dumplings and my roll. I immediately spit out the horrendously tasting portion of rice and pointed it out to the waitress. She seemed vaguely unconcerned. I didn't stress it, since i was there with my mom for her bday, but ate nothing more. The bill comes and it's for the full price of everything. I decided to talk to the waitress and explain to her that the food was bad and that i should at least get half off. Remember, ive been going here once a week or so for about 5 years. The waitress flips out, starts telling me i should have informed her IMMEDIATELY that the food was bad, before i ate anything on my plate. I try to reason with her but she did the old "talk to the hand" and LITERALLY refused to communicate further. I mean, really, who the hell treats their costumers like that? Talk to the hand? Ugh. Upset with this sort of treatment i told her i wasn't coming back, and her response was "ok". Great way to run a business guys. I won;t be spending my money there any longer. read more

Wow Sakura 6 has become another formerly good place. The place recently failed their Health Department Inspection, badly. That is what a "grade pending" means, you get to fail once before you get a letter grade. Anyway things happen and I ate there today anyway with my gf. Food was 5/10. Had stirfry upon with vegetables, asked for super well done, got soggy poorly flavored mess. Gf got sashimi which wasn't good either. Service was ok, it seems as if they are seeing a drop in business and the servers are feeling the heat of these kinds of things on their weekly take. Maybe owner is on vacation or there is a new chef, regardless something is very wrong. Such a shame too because I had gone there for years and it was consistent and good. I will give them another shot in a few months but I am not holding my breath. Prices and selection aren't as good as other places I noticed this time interestingly enough. read more
