Well worth the price. We always go home with enough for another meal. Today I ordered a vegetable meal with extra veggies. There were so many veggies that they had a hard time getting the rice on the plate. The chef we had put on a very good show. I watched some of the other chefs and they didn't do a show. We had an excellent waiter. He kept the drinks full and had great timing on food service. The restraunt is dark like most Japanese restraunts. Bring readers if you have eyes like mine. It's located in a shopping center so it is a shared parking lot.The restaurant is very clean and nice. The staff is very nice and on top of things. The chef was so friendly and kind. He did our food perfectly. The salad with ginger dressing was good, as always. The soup had a weird taste. Kind of like tap water which sucked because it's one of my favorite soups. Poor service. When I came in the host asked me how many in the party, there was 5 of us and 2 of us were already here. There was no one else waiting. We patiently waited on this Valentine's crowded evening. More people came in and so did the rest of my party. We waited about 10 minutes. Then the gentleman came from behind the bar and sat a party of 4 that came in last instead of us. They were not taking reservations. Then I noticed what he did. He had been seating people of the same race together. There were tables of Hispanics, African American, and White people. Of course the food was good. I have been there several times before and have never experienced this. And it was a worker that has been there for years. I am going to rethink coming back. I will also be telling others. read more

Nothing we ordered was correct and what we did order, was way overcooked. Could really only eat the rice. Only one employee spoke English well enough to help and all the others wanted to argue with us. And the air in here is awful; felt like it was 90° the whole time. Hopefully with time their training will improve but for now we will not be coming back. Super disappointed. read more

Sakura chefs always are utmost professionals and want all to have a good time. Our chef was very considerate of our toddler grandaughter who was a little scared. Just went to dinner at Sakura tonight with my 7 year old son. Service was decent and we got our food in a timely manner. The chef was Hispanic, not Asian, which was fine but I could tell there was a language barrier. The food was typical of a hibachi place. Decent but not outstanding. The main disappointment was that the chef did ZERO tricks. I even asked the chef if he would do some tricks for the kids at the table. He shook his head no, and said something that I could not hear nor understand. The restaurant itself looked like it could use some updating. TV near our table was broken, and I saw an electrical outlet exposed. Overall, the meal was ok, but for the money, my son and I were expecting more interaction with the chef and tricks for the kids. I've had better. The pre-meal broth and salad were pretty standard. Their ginger dressing was good. They also brought a couple of deep fried shrimp from the back. They can get rid of these and fix some shrimp on the grill top. The way they cook the food is a bit out of order and slow. First rice, then veggies, then 10 minutes later... meats. I had the shrimp hibachi. The rice was cooked in a way that it was thrown all over the grill. What a mess... I ordered extra veggies, but even with that I got half the portion size I would get at Miyabi's in Augusta for almost the same price. The brocolli was either frozen and thawed or steamed first. So there was no crunch at all.The shrimp tasted great, but I would have liked them to stay on the grill longer. The portion sizes should definitely be larger for the price. Our chef was a waaaay over the top with the "entertainment." The puff of the fake ketchup gets old after the 3rd time. And no, I do not want to catch broccoli thrown in the air. I said no 3 times... I really don't want to do it. Also, the fans situated throughout the restaurant added nothing to the ambiance. I doubt I'll return here. read more

If I want to sweat while eating I would find somewhere to eat outside in the heat. When we arrived they turned on a standing A/C unit that looked like a midsize safe and did nothing more than blow the steam off the cook top in my face. Everyone in my party was uncomfortable it was so hot. Several times I had to ask for more water. Definitely my last trip. Only reason I give it a two start is that the food was actually very good, I just can't sit in a sauna while I'm eating. read more

The cook served our party before he even stated cooking the other 4 peoples good that was sitting at our table. 3rd: when it came time to pa the bill...we were charged for all 8 meals. We questioned the bill. They reversed the bill and turned around and billed him for all 8 meals again. Ugh! Then he finally did it right, we think. We are going to the bank tomorrow. 4th: there was a young mother and gerv6 year old...the overcharged her. They charged her child for and adult meal. We came for sushi so I can't say anything about their hibachi or steak. But the vegetable tempura had raw flour in it. And the fancy California roll had nothing fancy about it. I thought it was supposed to have spicy ahi on top but it looked like chopped up ahi with no sauce whatsoever and definitely not spicy. Service while nice seemed very confused whenever we ordered anything. The yaki tori was really good though, so maybe this is a place for cooked food only. This long standing Japanese Steak House is one of the best in the area. I have gone to this restaurant for a long time. Best cooked Hibachi food. Sometimes there are food drops but believe me the staff gets right to it to clean up. Always check for restaurant rating and it has always been A for the sticker. I have not seen any lower. I agree with the other review, as I have no idea what everyone's issue with this place is! Personally I love it. I've been coming here for a couple of years now and really enjoy the staff and the food. It's the best hibachi I've found in Aiken, for sure! Not to mention the service is fantastic. I left my wallet there by accident the first time I went, and I realized an hour later and came back around closing time and they had picked it up for me and had it waiting safely behind the counter. They are trustworthy and reliable people, and the food is delicious! I always opt for the hibachi steak or hibachi filet mignon, and I am never disappointed! The ginger salad dressing is also great and the soup is very good too. I will continue returning here! I highly recommend it to anyone- couples, individuals, families... it's great! I've been sitting here for over 90 minutes. Just now got our drinks. What makes this so ridiculous is that this place is not that crowded, but is very understaffed. Would not recommend. The staff is very rude and our waiter knows nothing about the menu items. The restaurant is also very dirty. Update: the waiter has just dumped ice water on my iPhone that was sitting on the table. Hands down the best white sauce and ginger sauce that I've had at any hibachi restaurant. Always a good time to have food cooked in front if you and trying to catch the shrimp they the chef throws to you! I feel that the quality of the food has somewhat decreased over the years with new management and I wouldn't come here for sushi either but this place just kills it with the sauces. Their rice is always delicious but they seem to use a ton of soy sauce! Can ask the chef to give you yours before they douse it. Haven't been to Sakura in a few years but will never go back! 90 degrees outside and 95 degrees inside and that must be regular operation because they never mentioned or apologized for it. After a miserable thirty minute wait finally got to table. Every big exhaust fan running so you couldn't hear each other talk. Cook prepared food and dumped on plate. No show. NOTHING! I've eaten at this Sakura probably 3-4 times and have always enjoyed it. The dinner is exactly what you would expect of a Jap Steak house - rice, veggies, meat, yum yum sauce, and bad jokes in a fake Japanese accent. With that being said, we really enjoy it! The best deals are at lunch. You can get the same delicious meal, soup, salad, meat, veggies, and rice (smaller of course) for about half the price and without the show. ;) read more

Service was ok; not very attentive. The most disappointing part of service was the food presentation of the spicy tuna roll. One of the 10 pieces didn't even have any tuna in the roll. When brought this to attention of server, he was trying to brush off by saying "it was the end piece." I told him I understand it is the last piece, but when the center of the has absolutely nothing inside the seaweed, how am I getting a complete roll? He offered to bring a couple of pieces to make up for the inconvenience. Down side -- again -- neither he nor anyone else brought the new spicy tuna rolls. Side note -- portion size of ginger and wasabi were very minimal. On another note, please keep these in mind when ordering from the Tappan Grill: - salad -- very basic. When requesting oil and vinegar, it is served with rice vinegar. - soup -- no flavor; very bland. - chicken - can be overwhelmingly sweet with teriyaki sauce. Lastly, this is the first Japanese steakhouse I have been to where chopsticks are not present and have to request them for dinner service. Based on this experience makes me want to look dor another option when i want a Japanese Steakhouse. read more

I went here hoping to have great sushi and that the other people in my party who didnt like sushi could order off the menu. My first impression was that it felt like it was 100 degrees inside the restaurant and it seemed old. The seats were cracked vinyl, the walls and furniture seemed greasy, the guy behind the sushi bar was using a fly swatter to hit flies, and when I asked about some sashimi he seemed to have no clue what I was talking about.
