Absolutely love this place. Sushi is very tasty. They have several rolls without sauces, which is a sign that they're fish is fresh. The more sauces, the more ways to disguise older fish. Very expansive menu- they have several traditional US Chinese dishes (sweet and sour chicken, beef teriyaki, etc) in addition to the Japanese fare. They also have hibachi here as well. I haven't had the hibachi, but everyone who I've seen come out has always enjoyed it from their comments. Bar area is large enough too, and they have specials at the bar for food as well. Good staff, and very friendly. Gotta love being able to get sushi and Chinese at one place. Highly recommend their food! read more

I have thought about going in here numerous times since I live so close by, and I finally did. I was very happy because everyone was so personal, the drinks were strong and the sushi was amazing. I had the red lotus drink and some maki. The second time I went in I had the salmon hibachi plate and the owner remembered us and was very friendly. We plan on going again soon! read more

I have been here on multiple occasions and have had great experiences every time, until tonight. There were six of us in our party and the waitress had to ask each of us multiple times to repeat our food and drink orders. I get the language barrier, but a waitress should understand the items on the menu. Chicken shouldn't have to be repeated multiple times period. My sister ordered a rum and coke and they gave her a mai tai. After asking the waitress for the correct drink and getting nowhere, she went to the bar herself to explain she had been given the wrong drink and asked for the correct one, offering to pay even though her original drink hadn't been touched. The bartender asked my sister who the waitress was. Her name was never given to us, so she told the bartender our table and also explained that it wasn't a big deal and just wanted the correct drink. Shortly after, a gentleman came over with the waitress, with the old drink in his hand, and started tapping my sister on her shoulder. He didn't identify himself, just asked her what the problem was. My sister again explained that she was given the wrong drink and there was no problem other than she wanted what was ordered. She said she knew there was a language barrier and that it wasn't a big deal. The gentleman walked away annoyed. My sister then asked the waitress who he was, to which she replied "rum." My sister again asked who he was and asked if he was the manager of the building. The waitress still didn't understand what she was asking and just kept saying rum over and over. My sister gave up. We paid our tab and left. The same gentleman was at the desk upon our departure. My sister asked him if he was the manager and he ignored her. She asked again and he nodded and started to doodle on a piece of paper, never once looking up to acknowledge her. She again apologized for asking them to correct her drink and explained that she wasnt mad at the waitress if that's what the attitude was for, but that the language barrier is an issue for a paying customer ordering anything that they are paying a decent price for. The "manager" kept doodling and ignoring my sister with no eye contact or apology. We have never seen this manager before and hope that he isn't the person that is in total control of the establishment. To whomever is in control, you should train your people on basic order taking skills and customer interaction. read more

Let me just start by saying I've never had a problem with the food itself. But it is NOT worth the wait every single time I come in for takeout. The poor young lady at the front desk is taking orders, doing takeout, seating customers and trying to deal with the angry customers... it's not her fault. But every single time I order I wait an additional 45 mins at least. They can't handle being busy!! I purposely come late to pick up my food and it's STILL another 30-45 mins. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Not worth it. The young girl at the front is wonderful, i feel bad for her having to deal with poor management! Currently am waiting for an order now that should have been done 40 mins ago. (That was the promised time) it continues every time i come. I'm on the fence with this place. I had some VERY questionable sushi this week. The $40 worth of sushi I bought was essentially down the trash. The salmon avocado roll was disgusting - I mean, I had to spit this out because the texture of the salmon was slimy, warm and mushy. Definitely not fresh fish. I was paranoid about getting food poisoning that night. I've eaten here a few times before this incident, and it's been fine, but I don't think I can go back here after that. read more

Never been disappointed here. The hibachi is entertaining and delicious. The drinks are good. The sushi is great, as is the regular food menu. The food is always cooked exactly right. The decor is spartan, but works. We sat in the hibachi area, and they didn't spare any expense for the grills... but the chairs *are* short. Hibachi chef was entertaining, but food was meh. I had sushi (Godzilla Maki), which ended up being the entire maki roll dipped in tempura and deep fried, then rolled in more nori and rice. The rolls were huge, pinwheel-style, not a nice, small traditional maki .... try eating those in mixed company! read more

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. We stumbled upon this place via GroupOn. We usually get the poopoo platter which is enought for 2 people & still have leftovers. Their beef fried rice & house egg foo yong are great. The service is always extremely friendly. During the week all appetizers, including poopoo platter is half price at the bar. read more

Although I waited a long time for a drink when I sat down at the bar, I have to say the bartender is charming, the regulars are friendly and the appetizers are half priced at the bar dine in only! My coworkers and I often want to go to Sakura on our lunch break. Their lunch combos are very fairly priced for a good portion. Their sushi and maki combo is a bowl of miso soup, a small salad with carrot ginger dressing, either a California roll or a Spicy Tuna roll and four assorted pieces of sushi. By comparison, their dinner prices are rather expensive for what you get. The only recurring problem with Sakura at lunch time is that they are never prepared to serve guests at that time. The restaurant is supposed to open at noon. We leave our office at noon and arrive at the restaurant around 12:10 - 12:15. The wait staff is still sweeping the floors and setting up at that point. They are never prepared to welcome in guests and seat us when we get there. we cannot order tea because "the hot water isn't ready yet". This is frustrating since we are trying to eat on our lunch break and then return to work before our break is over. Today we tried to go to Sakura for lunch. We arrived at 12:20 and no one was even at the restaurant yet. As we were walking back to our car, a big van pulled up and all of the wait staff clamored out. They then stood in front of the restaurant smoking cigarettes and hanging out while we left to go find a different place to get lunch. I like their lunch specials but why say you open at noon if you are never prepared to serve people at noon? Perhaps we need to find a different lunch spot. read more

I own a business very close to Sakura and have been eating in and taking out from this place since it opened it's doors a year or so ago. The Good: The place is beautiful. It is elegant, SUPER CLEAN, and comfortable and at least when I have been there has been quiet and pleasant. The staff is always friendly and easy to deal with. I have never had an issue with service. Also, I found the Habachi the best in Southern Mass. The flavors and freshness were fantastic, at least they were 6 months ago. The Bad: There was a time when we were ordering take out from them at least 3 times a week. About 6 months ago, the quality of the take out food started to decline. The sweet potato roll that had a cooked part to it was not consistently being sent to me cooked. The food was getting more bland and the real kicker was that one day the garden salad that I ordered came with rotting vegetables. The cucumber had actually rotted to the point that it was half slime. Totally gross. Totally unacceptable. After that experience we stopped ordering from them for a few months. My last experience with them will certainly be my last. First off, the prices are out of line with their competition and do not make up for it in taste or quality. For example, $4.50 for 2 veggy spring rolls. The three new Chinese places we order from have the same thing, same product, listed for $2.50. The Chinese combo meal I ordered for lunch, the mixed veggy's, was so bad tasting I actually had to throw it away after 3 bites. I have never had fried rice that was inedible, inedible! I was really pulling for Sakura, something different in the neighborhood. I hope they can get their food quality issues together and reconsider their prices. read more

I came to Sakura per a recommendation from friends. I came to sit at the bar where I was told Derek was the best and indeed he lived up to this expectation. I was a little stuck on what to get and by asking me a few questions he recommended the Amazing Tuna. It was out of this world and a roll filled with flavores I've never experienced out at sushi and LOVED. Derek's attentiveness and true care about the customer is far and few between and is something I very much appreciated... Having my second drink delivered as I took the last sip of my wine. Great food. We have ordered take out Chinese a few times. I'd say it's reasonably priced for the quality of food they provide, but certainly not for the quantity. Portions are small & they don't provide white rice with any of their dinner options (with take out - not sure about with dine in). For example, 1 night we ordered the shrimp hibachi, sweet & sour chicken, & an order of chicken with cashew nuts. The shrimp hibachi was just shrimp & a few sautéed vegetables. & the chicken dishes were just the same - just the entrée. No rice of any kind. Normally when you order Chinese food, the dishes come with white rice. If I had known they did not here, I would've just ordered a side of rice & paid the extra. Unfortunaltely I didn't notice until we had returned home. How can u eat Chinese food without rice?? It's definitely not as fun. read more

I could tell they were all gone through long duration of making process, they became warm, including raw fish, by the time they were served.... We went on chinese new year with our Groupon (January). It took a long time for a waiter to come and the place was empty (a Monday night). However, our waiter did eventually come and he was very sweet, but we too, had to flag down another server for random things. Not complaining: when he did come, he was very attentive and engaging with my kids. We got the pupu platter for 2. Very fresh and crispy, not one bit greasy. The sushi: the spicy tuna roll was missing a key ingredient and tasted a bit blah. We also got a house special roll (forgot the name) and that was good. The place is modern with very nice and clean bathrooms (dislike places that have small/unclean washrooms). The hibachi area looked impressive but not a hibachi fan. I wonder if Monday is still free appetizer night. Another place worth the 20 minute drive past 20 chinese/japanese food restaurants. read more

Im not a sushi specialist but I thought it was good and prices are good. Our table had the rainbow roll yum..spicy something that was good. And a volcano roll I wouldn't recommmend that. The eel didn't have the skin removed. Kind of ruined it. The crab ragoon (unsure of spelling u get the idea) was great. Pad ti noodles were ok. I enjoyed it. Good for cheap quick sushi. read more

I have been to Sakura in South Attleboro several times with my family; however this was the worse experience by far. My family and I went to dinner on Saturday 10/26/18 (2 adults & 2 children). First problem was I asked for a booster seat for my 2 year old and had to remind the waiter twice. Then my 5 year old son spilled his juice by accident when he went to take his first sip and we had to ask for another one. You would think a waiter will just replace it on their own right?!? Well No! So only My boyfriend and I ordered food because the kids had already ate before hand. When we got our food the waiter didn't come by to ask how it was etc. when we got our bill we was charged for the replaced drink for my son, ok no big deal. We looked closer to the bill and noticed a 18% Gratuity was added in to the bill. Smh so did he add it because his service was poor and he didn't expect us to tip him? Did he add it because he does it all the time, and gets away with it? I asked him why was we charged for 18% gratuity when only 2 ppl ordered. He was so stuck and started stuttering and said it was a service charge fir a party of 4 or more guest. I asked to speak with management because I know that is illegal in MA to add gratuity for a small party. Tips are OPTIONAL & based in how the service is. I would've never given him an 18% tip. Long story short we got our tip & juice refunded & hopefully he learns his lesson on not to try to take advantage of people not thinking they will not notice the extra fees on their bill. read more

Service is a little spotty, depends on when you go and who you have when you're there. The food is actually pretty good. I typically get the lobster tail and filet hibachi. I'd say it's right on part with any decent hibachi spot. The hibachi cooks can be a little aggressive sometimes. One night I went and the guy was shooting saki into everybody's mouth from an unmarked bottle.. half of us were creeped out, other half were laughing so I guess it's perspective! Tried it last night with another couple who had a Groupon. We were pleasantly surprised. Ate at the hibachi and this can go a couple of ways. I usually find the the food to be overcooked, but this was not the case here. Everything was perfect. We ordered a couple of sushi rolls that were equally delicious. Went here today with my boyfriend for Hibachi. It was so cold inside the whole time that I kept my big winter jacket on. The hot grill in front of us did not even help. Other than that, the food was excellent. I had shrimp and steak and my boyfriend had chicken and shrimp. They were both great even though my steak was a little over done. The flavor of everything was on point. Our chef was friendly and tried his best to do all the little flippy spatula tricks, he even landed a piece of broccoli in both of our mouths. haha. All in all, I would go back but hopefully they turn the heat on. read more

We went on a Sat night around 6-6:30. Very nice interior, beautiful sushi station. Friendly greeter. Sat right away in a cozy booth. Very cold in there though. Ordered Kappa (cucumber) Maki, edamame, crispy pad Thai and crispy tangerine beef with vegetable fried rice. Kappa Maki was delicious and fresh! Edamame came out steaming and perfectly cooked and salted. The crispy pad Thai was amazing. We have never had the crispy kind before and we both liked it better!! Thin crispy noodles. Stopped in for a sushi date and it was pretty good. The rolls are an average size, a little pricey but not bad. The fish in the sashimi plate was quite obviously very fresh and tasted great, Good presentation as well.
