Really super good sushi. I do wish however they had more selections of rolls. The chef here knows his stuff. I've had everything on the menu in the numerous times I've visited since they opened. I was extremely impressed by this place. Magalia is very lucky to have such a nice sushi restaurant! The place is beautiful, the staff are extremely friendly and, most importantly, the food is really, really good! Plus, the prices for what you're getting are very reasonable. The menu is not extensive but I admire their focus on quality of ingredients vs. quantity of options. I'm sure as the word continues to spread through the area that this place is so good and business picks up they'll continue to expand their menu. But in the meantime, I'm certainly impressed by what they have to offer and how well they do sushi! read more

Don't miss the salmon Kama (collar) grilled rare is something truly special!....tempura shrimp and veggies: sweet plump shrimp in delicate batter and and nice assortment of veggies... Best California roll we've had the crabmeat was perfect....The owner takes pride in his creations and in his restaurant, I loved the Sakura cherry blossom theme going on. Oh man! Really good every time we've been

I went to lunch this week with friends. We were all pleased with the beautiful, delicious food and warm and friendly service. The atmosphere contributed to our pleasant time. I got the luncheon plate where I ordered the California roll along with the salmon roll. This came arranged on a large platter packed with sushi. With this I had the Miso soup, small salad with tasty dressing and a bowl of white rice. It was all prepared to perfection. I definitely want to return and try more items from the full menu. read more

Well after seeing it and hearing a little bit about it we decided to try it upon walking in I could see what it was all about a Japanese terrys fine dinning lol the place was freezing cold and a plug in heater near the sushi bar to try to warm up the two ladies sitting there I assume then I looked in the sushi fridge at the sushi bar not to impressed the host/waiter/owner I assume was very polite and welcomed us then grandfather stepped out from kitchen said a few words to the son and he said ok we wanted to see a menu before we sat down the prices were about market rate I had a bad feeling already but looked over the menu nothing jumped out to me she decided on a bowl off miso soup and a couple pieces of yellow tail I had the 2 item combo thing the teriyaki beef was good but not enough of course and the spicy tuna roll was pre made yucky I could tell because it was all squared off as if it had been wrapped in cellophane shit I was wanting a fresh roll and the miso soup was ho hum at best and the salad was plain old near gone bad iceberg lettuce with 2 bits of tomato and a pice of cucumber with some sort of white dressing I couldn't identify so all in all it was only $22 so it was nothing to write home about and it definitely will not give ikkyu Japanese restaurant any competition read more

I'm torn at how many stars to give. I want to give 4 or 5 for the taste. But a 1 or less for service. One waitress on a very slow evening.... however, we sat for over 45 minutes before our food came out.... with three kids...... I ordered an appetizer as a part of my main course but ended up having to give it to my kids to keep them from melting down. And they are well beyond the "melting down" age! I think with a little more education on service, this place could be a well oiled machine. But some sort of free appi would be a good touch if the wait continues. I'm a major nit picker when it comes to Sushi and Japanese Food. I mean I'm a major nit picker. It been little over 4 years sent I had to leave my favorite sushi restaurant in the South Bay Area. I've never thought finding any place that came close to Ninja Sushi. But along came Sakara several months ago and they almost match up to Ninja Sushi . Yeah there's a lot Sushi places down in Chico and even a ritzy chic one.....still it didn't come to close like Sakara. The price is not bad and it's little less then what I was used too. But, not shocked that good Sushi is reasonably priced. Hey these are the mountains and it's a rare treat to have this Sushi place here in the mountains. read more

This restaurant is a little gem in the woods that is on a par with any Japanese fare I've eaten in L.A. Don't let the name fool you--the menu is extensive and full of delectable non-sushi items as well, including teriyaki, udon noodle dishes, and donburi bowls. The sushi chef is charming, and the service is polite. I ordered a dinner bento box, which consisted of miso soup, salad, white rice, tempura vegetables, and two entrees of my choice. I chose California roll and sushi nigiri. There were full servings of each, and I had to take part of my bento to go! The miso soup was warm and comforting, the tempura veggies were crisp and light, the California roll was cut into nice bite-sized pieces (a personal bugaboo of mine), and the sashimi was lovely. Sake and beer are available. The decor is somewhat unremarkable and unromantic, but it's neat and clean. Sakura Sushi is definitely worth the drive up the hill. (Tip--if you're heading up Skyway, turn on the road BEFORE the restaurant--there's no entrance on Skyway itself.) read more

We recently had a late night dinner and could not decide on what to eat, so husband opted for sushi and where we live at 8:30 at night theres only one option. Reviewed their menu online and phoned in our order. Keep in mind the restaurant closes at 9. The older gentleman that was putting together our order was extremely friendly and smiled the whole time, when i paid and was walking out door he asked jf i would like some miso soup, i kindly said no thank you and left. When hi got home i was pleasantly surprised of how large and artfully decorated the sushi rolls were, they would rank high like the rest of the amazing sushj chefs ate, The Danbori Bowls were average (we ordered the chicken and egg & pork katsu) personally i liked more of the katsu danburi & the chicken skewer appetizers were so so didnt get why they added bell peppers to it. Called in a to go order today at noon. Spoke with a waitress called Iris. She got what I wanted, then put me on hold for 15 minutes. I hung up and called back to make sure she had gotten my order. Then she put me on hold again. So once again, I called back and then was hung up on by Iris. I tried calling back but my call was never picked up. So I drove to the restaurant and asked if my order had been started. Iris gave me a very rude attitude and told me that since she never got my information and only my order, it hadn't been started yet. (It was now 1:30pm and they close at 2) She then told me it would be a 45 minute wait because it was a full house. (I didn't know only two booths and one table was a full house). She shrugged me off like it didn't matter. So I let her know that the wait time would be idle to know on the phone instead of just hanging up on a customer. Very aggravating experience. I was hoping that this would be a great restaurant because I love to go get sushi. But with the way I was treated, I do not plan on coming back. read more
