    Beef teriyaki bento box
    Mike E.

Sakura is a new sushi restaurant that replaced what was No. 1 sushi. Sakura is located in a mini strip mall that usually has enough parking. You can always park across the street. Their menu has a 10% off coupon so I tried some takeout. They charge a 3% credit card fee (I despise these), but the coupon helped offset this a bit. I think the dinner bento boxes are an excellent choice. My kids loved them, trying a shrimp tempura box and a beef teriyaki box. Flavors were all around great. Nice smokey beef, tender and yummy. The sushi rolls, gyoza, spring roll, soup and pile of edamame make these boxes a great option. Good variety and everything tasted great all for about $20, give or take depending on the protein. The sushi and sashimi for 2 (labeled "Sakura and sashimi for 2" on the menu) was ok, but I wow'd by it. The quality of everything was great. Fresh and tasty. But, there wasn't enough variety of fish for a platter of this size. I think we had about 4 different kinds of fish. In a platter with 16 pieces of sashimi and 10 pieces of sushi, I'd like more variety in the mix. My wife and I both got bored fast eating this one and likely won't order our sushi here. One more thing - they are getting a liquor license so it won't be a BYOB.

Excellent service. Friendly owners. Fresh and delicious Sushi. BYOB Moving in few weeks but will for sure return before we go. A+

Clean, open and pleasant interior. Amazing service by the hostess who also addressed order confusion and made sure we were taken care of while our waiter left the floor. Soups were good, salads in the photo were good, mango salad was uneventful (leaves & pieces of sour mango with dressing), rolls were fresh and tasty. Regular menu available at all times (saw it after ordering), we did 'weekend all you can eat' menu, which was reasonably priced and overall good but had limited verity on rolls (mostly spicy tuna based).

I've been ordering from Koi 21 for years, but had never actually gone there to eat in (side note,…read morethe delivery experience with Koi is also amazing). Upon finally heading there to actually sit in the restaurant and eat, I was really pleasantly surprised. Koi is tucked away from the main stretch of restaurants in Pearl River and has its own parking lot which is an added plus. The interior of the space is really pretty - they actually have a koi pond with waterfall inside, which gives a really pretty vibe and they even have these tucked away spaces for more private dining as well. The staff is so friendly and attentive - your drink never gets close to empty before they're asking if you want a refill and the food comes out quickly. The food itself is DELICIOUS - definitely my go-to sushi spot in the area with a great variety, so if you're not a sushi fan, there's still hibachi and a lot of cooked dishes too, so there is something for everyone. The price for value is wild - the portions are big and the quality is always excellent. Some of my favorites are the crab rangoon, the veggie gyoza, tuna pizza, the rock shrimp (basically a bang bang shrimp that is SO delicious), and honestly any of the sushi rolls (the OMG and Crazy Tuna specialty rolls are always a hit and I always love a Philly roll with avocado and cucumber as well). There is a minimal upcharge for brown rice, which is my go-to. Another plus is that Koi has a full bar. The wine by the glass options are okay, but the lychee martini I had was decent! Not the best, but still a bonus and nice to have. I will still order delivery from Koi, but will also make more of an effort to get here for the great service, food, and atmosphere!

Sushi, sashimi, rolls, steak teriyaki, all good quality. I've been particularly happy with the "love boat for 2" entree lately. It's a nice assortment of sushi, 2 rolls and beautiful slices of sashimi. It's quite satisfying and reasonably priced. Comes with soup or salad for two. My kids love the steak teriyaki, but aren't crazy about the vegetables that come with it. They're a bit watery in the teriyaki. Overall, great experiences here and they never mess up an order. My takeout bags have been complete and never missing anything. I'll keep returning.

If you do dine here, I suggest skipping the appetizers and going straight to the main course options. Regarding the apps, the duck pancake was actually in a green wrap (which seemed odd) and the sauce overpowered the bits of duck inside. The spring rolls were large and had what looked to be alternative meat or something with similar consistency and didn't seem overall that fresh. The fried spring rolls were "ok." The best thing was the pad prik with veggies and tofu which wasn't oily but also didn't feel like it was amazing. It appears you can order online when they're open which is a plus if you hate using the phone. I'll leave the caveat that I'm not a Thai food connoisseur but usually enjoy it. I wish that I felt more positive since it's a small business! Maybe I'd give them another chance if I was eating in the restaurant. Metered street parking and doesn't seem too hard to find parking. No credit card processing fee.

We still kept the Sushi Sandwich, Eel Avocado Roll, Mango Hawaii Roll, and the Pink Lady Roll, all of which have been consistently unbelievable. However, we also swapped in some substitutes for the other rolls. First, we included a Yellowtail Scallion Roll, which was a bit small, but delicious. Then, we also incorporated the Shrimp Hibachi, which came with white rice and a clear soup. The broth had a lot of flavor and contained fragrant mushrooms. The hibachi dish had a load of fresh vegetables (carrots, broccoli, zucchini, onions, and mushrooms) and a generous portion of grilled shrimp that were cooked through to the perfect plumb bites. The sauce was lighter than a teriyaki would have been, which was what we were hoping for. Yet again, it was another excellent curation of menu items. Raku has provided some of the best of Japanese food we have ever tasted! The place is a gem!

While I do love the duck breast and lamb chops included with the Classic package, we all felt Essentials was enough for this visit. Celia was our waitress. While things were a little slow getting started, once our first order went in, the food started flying out. Everything we ordered throughout the evening arrived much faster than it did on my previous visit. The menu makes it sound like they'll throttle you to only a couple of items at a time, but that really wasn't our experience. We were consistently able to order several items per person, so there was always something on the grill, more food on the way, and plenty to keep us chomping away. Our favorites this time? The top blade, brisket, hanger steak, pork belly, and even the salmon ceviche, which was surprisingly refreshing between rounds of grilled meat. We did have a couple of hiccups, but Celia was eager to make things right. After we received the wrong shrimp twice, she took it upon herself to get the manager involved. They tracked down the correct shrimp and brought it out. Thanks! Speaking of the manager, Andy was terrific. After another unpleasantry at our table, he came over and sincerely apologized several times. It was obvious he genuinely wanted to make things right. After we took a quick selfie together, he got us with a few complimentary cocktails. I have to say, anything here with cucumber in it is delicious here. Super refreshing. By the end of the meal, my son was a fluent griller and even said he liked Gyuzo more than the other all-you-can-eat BBQ places we've visited. That's about as good an endorsement as I can give. We'll certainly be back.

Unfortunately, we never even got to eat at the restaurant because of how disorganized the front desk was. We were quoted a 35-45 minute wait and were told to join the Yelp waitlist. We stood nearby the entire time waiting to be called. We never received any notification on our phones, and when we checked the app, our status had somehow changed from "waiting" to "cancelled." When we spoke with the hostess, she apologized and told us to wait because she would seat us next. Instead, we watched four other parties get seated before us. After waiting even longer, we went back to ask what was happening, only to be told it would be another 15-20 minutes. From what we observed, it also seemed like the restaurant was prioritizing seating larger parties over smaller ones. I can't say for certain whether that was their policy, but that's certainly how it appeared from our experience as multiple larger groups were seated while we continued to wait despite being told we were next. I completely understand that popular restaurants get busy, and I have no issue waiting my turn. What I do have an issue with is poor communication and disorganization from the hostess team. Mistakes happen, but telling customers they'll be seated next and then repeatedly seating other parties first is unacceptable. To make matters worse, this was our second night this weekend trying to eat here, and once again we left without ever getting a table. Despite the inconvenience and poor experience, no one offered an apology beyond a brief acknowledgment, nor was there any attempt to make things right or show goodwill for the time we had wasted. The food may be excellent, but we'll never know because the front-of-house experience was so poorly managed. A great restaurant starts with good customer service, and unfortunately, the hostess team left a very poor first impression. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this restaurant.

It's an intimate spot with only four teppanyaki tables, and we were seated promptly. My family has been going to hibachi for over 50 years to celebrate special occasions, so we know what to expect. Unfortunately, this visit was a total letdown. As is standard, we shared a table with another party--a family with three kids. Right away, there were red flags: the kids were hyped up on candy, spilling things, and spreading out so much that I was repeatedly bumped into and forced to eat off the edge of the table. Management and servers saw this unfolding but never intervened, even though they clearly knew the family. Then came our cook, "Chef John," and things went further downhill: Complete Lack of Engagement: Wearing a baseball cap instead of proper chef attire, Chef John spent the entire meal chatting with the other family (who were clearly regulars) while ignoring us like we weren't even there. No Showmanship: Teppanyaki is about the experience-- jokes, knife tricks, tossing shrimp, flipping eggs. Chef John did nothing beyond a single, basic onion volcano. Bland & Poorly Executed Food: The food lacked real flavor--no ginger or garlic, just heavy salt, pepper, and soy sauce. The steaks were hit-or-miss (the ribeye was moist, but the filet had dry sections), and seafood wasn't cut into bite-sized pieces for chopsticks. Order Snafu & Arguing: All three of us ordered steak and shrimp combos. He served full shrimp portions to two of us, but gave the third person only an appetizer portion. When we brought up the mistake--despite him confirming orders earlier--it turned into an uncomfortable debate over whether she was "entitled" to the rest of her meal. We eventually got the missing shrimp, but the damage was done. Between the chaotic table dynamic that staff ignored, zero entertainment, bland food, and having to argue for the food we ordered, it ruined a birthday celebration. I seriously doubt that we will be returning.
