We were literally the first customers of the day!! We walked in 2 mins after they opened the doors! I was with my 10 year old who picked out all of our dishes! Everything was delicious! Took a really long time to be acknowledged/seated despite there being only 2 other parties in the restaurant and we were visibly standing for almost 10 minutes and multiple workers saw us. They got our order wrong and didn't offer to fix it even though we clarified what we wanted when we ordered. I've had waiters who speak MUCH less English yet still make a bigger effort to understand our order/wants. He also proceeded to blame us for not reading the menu correctly even though we verbally confirmed with him what we wanted. Food, although decent, also took a really long time to come out (only ordered sushi and shrimp tempura appetizer), despite there only being 2 other people :( We were honestly surprised, probably the worst customer experience we've ever had read more

Came here after the other place we were going to had a 2 hour wait and had a great time! Its BYOB on the door but they do have a couple of beers at the ready. This place is awful. My sushi was old; the rice was stained and crumbly, not sticky like sushi rice at all. When I informed the server, he seemed to take it personally. He also served my sake in a chipped glass (I could have cut my lip). He then tried to argue with me about the fish being old. It's very easy to tell if raw fish is out of date. First, they only wanted to offer me a $12 credit because I ate two pieces of sushi, but I refused to pay for it since there was no way I was going to risk eating more. I still ended up paying $30, I guess, just to sit at the table. This is probably a great place to go if you've been drinking all night and don't mind what you eat. PS if you're serving raw fish 1-2 times a weeks delivery of the fish is not considered fresh. read more

My husband gets the happy hour sushi and bento boxes here quite a bit and he enjoys them. I think the prices at those times are worth it but I can't say I've been super impressed when I had it for dinner. I tried the king crab roll, fried rice with chicken and the salad. The salad dressing was good but it was a very small portion for the price. The crab roll was decent but overpriced and the fried rice was underwhelming. I absolutely LOVE Nori Sushi. How you know that I love it here? I travel a very far distance to come here.....ALL THE WAY FROM THE SOUTH SUBURBS! The sushi is very fresh. If you are a vegetarian, this is the place for you. 2 days a week I only eat vegetarian items and many times I come here to get a variety of vegetarian options. They're also BYOB but if you don't bring anything, they have really good drink items as well. The service is also superb. They have great music piping through the speakers as well. I got the salmon skin maki, soft shell crab maki, and California maki. Everything was good, and I was surprised that the salmon skin maki was a pretty big roll. The only critique I have is that I felt like the salmon skin maki and the soft shell crab maki was a little too salty. We also got some edamame and tea, which was a nice starter. There was a good amount of edamame we got, but felt like some of it was a little over salted. Overall a good experience! Craving sushi postpartum so we headed to the closest place in our new neighborhood with our new baby! It was a beautiful Sunday so we opted for the patio which was fantastic given all the baby gear. And we got there right when they opened so no concern about taking up space or a crying baby. But we were greeted right away, told the lunch special was 50% off the Maki rolls and on our way with drinks. We ordered the Phillies, crunchy spicy tuna, dragon, and caterpillar along with spicy edamame. Plenty of food for the two of us and made super quick with great presentation. Crunchy spicy tuna was my favorite! A little of everything but light. Loved the caterpillar and dragon for the loads of fish and sauce. Everything tasted super fresh! I could hear the sizzling from the grill, smell the food cooking, and by that point I was more than ready to eat. Our server was really nice and gave us a bunch of recommendations. Everything sounded good, but I ended up going with the Pork Belly Yakisoba. This dish was packed with flavor. The noodles had that smoky, slightly charred taste, and they were coated in just enough sauce to make every bite rich. The sauce brought a nice balance of savory, a little sweetness, and plenty of umami that soaked into the noodles. The pork belly was easily the best part. It was incredibly tender and juicy, with just enough fat that it practically melted in your mouth. Every piece had those caramelized edges that added even more flavor. Then you get the crunch from the cabbage and bean sprouts, the freshness from the scallions, and the little nutty flavor from the sesame that tied everything together. I guess that came with a cost: 3% service charge automatically applied, and the server proactively brought over a digital payment system, so the 18% tip I selected calculated off the total leading to what was essentially a tip of 23%.

Tonight was our first visit to Nori, thanks to a a recent Groupon. I'll start with the positive. The service was quite good. It wasn't busy, so that wasn't a stretch, we but never wanted for anything (especially water), plates were removed promptly, and the flow of items we ordered came perfectly. Also, the ambiance is nice. Now for the not so positive. We started with a few appetizers. The calamari was very heavily breaded, which overpowered but the calamari itself, and even the dipping sauce. The tuna tartar salad was some of the worst seared tuna I've ever had. It wasn't as pink as I'd normally like, and the outside was barely seared. In fact, it sort of looked like it was defrosted in warm water and started cooking. The accompanying greens and dressing were nothing special. The spring rolls are cold (just not what I'm used to). The ordered the Nori Red and Strawberry Sundae rolls. They were both inventive and flavorful. However, they were very thick, and then also cut into very large pieces. So big in fact, they were difficult to eat, which left us eating pieces at a time and missing out on the intended flavor and texture combinations. If we stuck with a few simple rolls and skipped the appetizer and stayed around the $40 groupon value, I would have been happier. For the extra we paid, it was not worth it. I certainly would not go back at full price, but even at a discount, we will most likely not return. read more

Stumbled onto this place by accident. Not impressed because it appeared dirty, but my group was hungry and everything else nearby was closed. We were skeptical but gave it a shot. The staff seemed nice enough, but they were slow to ask how things were. Although a few of the rolls we ordered were very good, two were not. I called the waitress over to tell her we just did not like them and could we please have something else. She walked away with a very bad attitude and then returned to tell me that she couldn't take them off the bill but would give me a discount on a new roll!!!! What? This isn't a retail store, it's food. You made it and I didn't like it, replace it! Honestly I've never had this happen. We ordered almost a hundred dollars worth of sushi, and I really liked one and would have gone back, but not after that experience. Nori, making your customers walk out of your restaurant is BAD business. Shame on you Before we paid, I looked up a groupon and found one!!!! I bought a Groupon for 30 dollars worth for 19 dollars. I based my purchase based on a previous menu I had as well as the menu on their website. I placed my order and the total was way more than I thought. I called to figure out what the deal was and the staff member quoted me prices that were 20 percent higher than their website. For example website 9 dollar for crunchy spicy tuna but they charged me 11 which is quite high for a normal scale sushi place. Even a veggie role was charged 75 cents higher. I talked to the owner Joe and he was more concerned about whether I wanted to continue the order or not. He said their prices were changed and not updated online. He blamed it on the Web site company. I told him he shouldn't run groupons and charge different prices Than what's posted. He never offered to honor the website prices which is very odd. He told me I could get my money back from groupon. Anyways I've ordered from here before and it's pretty standard sushi. Definitely not worth paying 20 percent more than other sushi places in the area. read more

I recently visited Nori Sushi, and I couldn't be happier with my experience! I tried the J-Roll, Chicago Crunchy Roll, and Spicy Shrimp Maki, and each bite was absolutely delicious. I often have high expectations for sushi, but this blew me away! The flavors were incredible, and the presentation was stunning--everything looked as good as it tasted. To top it off, I sampled some sake, which paired perfectly with the sushi and added an extra touch of joy to the meal. I'm picky about my sushi, let me start with that. This place was clean and the food seemed fresh, my beef is, that the seaweed they used was tough. You should be able to bite right thru it without even knowing it's there. Here it was hard to chew thru and it turned me off. I found myself taking the sushi apart to avoid having to deal with the seaweed, which was annoying. I'd be willing to give it another try, maybe they just had a bad day. read more

Also tried 2 pieces of their limited fish for the day. We went before a night shift so couldn't try any drinks. I liked ThugLife2 the most, light, refreshing and good crunch from the jalapeño. Riverwalk was oily feeling with the tempura crunch, so not my favorite but if you like tempura, this is good. Sin nombre had interesting complex flavor but light with the yuzu marinade. The albacore was seared so slight firmer texture. The sashimi we got came with grated ginger and soy sauce and I didn't have to dip it at all. The texture was firm but not chewy, very fresh.
